88 - Boooyyyy, I've just spent the past 5 hours making the basement presentable for your visit... Actually I've been needing to get things down there squared away for my Cumberland extension, to which I'm a year behind. Rails are shined, floors are mopped, and spiders have been asked to vacate for the night. Now all I need is a hot bath, 'cause I'm feeling kinda gritty...
jefelectric - you are definitely a cool grandfather. Not because you have trains, but because you don't have those plastic covers on your furniture...
Good luck to all who are hurtin'.
Good night Uncle Buckeye.
OK.... I'm ready to buy it, I need a partner though!
I'll buy the business and computers, and customer list and all the other stuff listed for $1. Now who is going to buy the inventory portion? Send me the $100,000 deposit and I'll get it going.
Let me know soon and we can close the deal before the deadline!
Don
Good morning all. Thanks for all of the prayers for Dave. Today is the second day of the dreaded state testing. Not as bad as it used to be years ago but still can be a pain. Schedules get disrupted, teachers (and kids) get cranky.

Good morning from New England!
Last night, my wife's cousin coached her girl's basketball team to their first state championship! We are all very proud of her and her girls.
John was running his little HO steamer last night and the darned thing actually began to smoke! As soon as I put more fluid in, it stopped. He and I have been having a lot of fun running "his" trains lately. He told me last night "Dad, I am the owner of these trains". God bless him. He's a good boy who is a complete train addict! I bought him some Bachman track with roadbed. The trains run great on it.
Have a good day, everyone!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 41 degrees. Going up to 74 today. That's right. Sun is suppose to come out and shine all day. This is good.
Today, I have a few errands to run, then I will take some time to work in the train room. Between going outside to enjoy the warm weather and running trains, it should be a good day. The more I run trains over those bridges, the more I like it. Never had a bridge that big. The wife is painting pictures again. I may have a new one to hang in the train room.
Well, Dining Car is here and ready for breakfast. All aboard.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Hi GIZ,
38 and nice, to get to 69? Break out the golf clubs, a little wet yet for that here. But did do a nice easy 4 mile jog yesterday going again in shorts today.
ANYONE WANT TO BUY SOME PINE STRAW?
Have a good one?

Thanks, Brent. Here's a photo of Mary's cousin, Sue. I know, I know, not much to look at but she's a heck of a coach!
Good morning from a warm and sunny Chicago where I got to run four trolleys and the GG1 all at the same time last night. Hurray! It's been a while. The GG1 is so heavy it plays havoc with my trackwork - pushes it forward like a bow wave from a boat. One of my home-made Birneys just doesn't like the Marx crossing track. I think I can fix that. Supposed to be freezing again later this week. I was invited by Dell to go to Austin (TX) for a few days in April: maybe I'll take them up on it.
May Dave and Colin's granddad be healed. Jim, you sure are a kidder.

I just signed up as a sponsor!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now guys [and gal], the kid who gave [probably sold] the pinestraw away is no kid. He is 40+ years old and lazy with no job. Lives off his Mom's SS.
Marty E, US Airways and I are in serious dicussion. Got email that I was eligable for big seats. Could not match my reservation name with account name. Called Perferred desk. They are all confused. Said sold out big seats. I said you gave my seat to someone in a "lower level" than me. Got supervisor on the line. She could not explain. She is now calling someone to see what happened and what she can do. She was real nice. Probably will not get it but they will sweat for a while. I know this flight and it always has empty first class seats. Phoenix on Airbus at 4:30 PM and late flight to Bosie on Airbus. No way is it sold out. Sogga continues.
Got new glasses. Transistions. Works great. Not like the old typoe where they would not change fast enough when you walked into a dark room. I never would get them because of that.
Ran Post Wars again last night for 5 minutes and filled the room with smoke. Think I will convert another engine and take pictures so I can psot [as requested in other thread].
Frankie on the way. Pressure washing house and then FISHING in the pond.
Have a good one.

Doug, I think it's those orangie/brown needles that fall off of pine trees?
Wow!! US Air gave me a great upgrade, first class seats for my next trip.
EARTHQUAKE in BUCKEYELAND. Last night an earthquake struck NE Ohio. Very rare and it supposedly shook things off the shelves.
Going to be 70 degrees in Buckeyeland today. I think the heat caused the earthquake.
Doug, take Dell up on anything they give you free.

Just got back from a trip to Home Depot and was surprised at the number of blossums that opened overnight. Daffies, Bradford Pears, some dogwoods, and others. Should be in the 80's today. I'll be painting the trim around the front door till it gets too hot, front faces south, and then spend the afternoon on train work.
Pine straw is big in the south as mulch, goes anywhere from $2.50 and up per bale. When we first moved in I went into the pines on the side of the property and raked up a bunch for landscaping, never did it again, it took me a couple of weeks to get rid of the chiggers.
Morning all,
Beautiful in Southern Ohio. It is to get really nice Mid 60's today.
Pine straw is great mulch. A friend of mine in Batton Rouge rakes and sells it also. I know about freeloaders, my son-in-law but that is another story.
My Golden Retriever, Sue, who is 13 is fading fast. She has brest tumors but the vet would not try surgury at her advanced age. She has been the best doog I've ever had. Oh well,
Off the next couple of days. I need to replace a boiler circulation pump at church, not a big deal, I hope, you never know when breaking loose old water pipes!
I added another 12' of glass shelves last night. Seems I've got some empty space to fill now
Going to go, spend some time with Sue,
Good morning all,
It is a beautiful, warm and sunny day in SE Indiana with temps in the 70s. Jim, congrats to your wife's cousin (and I think you need to get your glasses checked. She's quite pretty.) To all who are ailing and in need of prayer support, remember you are in my thoughts. Fifedog and Buckeye, you two are a comedy pair. Almost as good as Bob and Tom. I played soccer last night. Wished we could have played outside it was so nice. I was here at the usual time, but the assistant director had a boatload of reports she needed done right away. I must have killed a forest with all the paper I went thru. I see the dining car already hit "Points East". Chief, I can understand how you feel about the pinestraw, and Jim F., I can see why someone would be a bit agitated about the property was "maintained". Why is it that people can not appreciate it when others help them out? It is almost as if they really do not want help (and maybe they don't). Enough of the soapbox. Did get some sad news yesterday. The daughter living in Virginia had two dogs. They both got loose over the weekend. Only one came home, but the other got hit by a car on the freeway. The lady who hit the dog tried to miss it and was real upset about it. She even contacted the animal shelter so some one could know what happened to it. Most people would have just left it lie there. Both the daughter and son-in-law were really upset about it. I know I shed some tears over pets, too. You get attached to them even though they aggravate you. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Just back from a nice walk outside. Temps are near 60 and feels like spring to me. Time to break out the walking shoes. My penny loafers are getting all wet from the melting snow runoff.

Hey Jef;
That layout looks great. How big is it? I just showed the pics to my wife and told her that I would be really happy if our layout ended up looking very similar to yours; probably won't go with the TCCM though.
Were you talking about my layout? If so the original, next to the sofa is 10' X 6'-8". It was built from 4 30" doors. I later added the 12" wide shelf, partially visable in the pictures which runs along the wall for 12' & then goes through a tunnel into the unfinished portion of the basement. That section is 5 X 13 and has 3 alternate route loops and some sidings.
Actually none of it is finished, been a work in progress for over 6 years.
Good afternoon!
Another beautiful, sunny day in central Alabama. Temps are near 80 today. Rain may return the next few days with slightly cooler weather.
Jim, sorry to hear about your dog. We are really attached to our two dachshunds, ages 9 and 8. Both are starting to experience some back problems (common to the breed). It will be hard whenever their time is over.
Been a long day - up early making visits to hospitals, then office work. I'll take younger daughter to orthodontist to get her braces adjusted, then make a quick change and head to the funeral home this afternoon. With the longer days I should still be able to get some yard work done. Grass is not growing yet, but trying to clear some old vines and brush.

And we have not put away the snowblower.

Snowblower? What's a snowblower?

What's a snowblower? How do you expect us to get to spring opening of the Dairy Queen?
