Good morning from a cold and blustery New England!
The wind chill out there is -30! When is spring going to spring?
No trains last night, but we all went to the pet store and bought more "coal". The boys really enjoy filling the hopper cars. The Williams F3s we have pull those cars like they aren't even there. I swear, I'll bet if I put my Lumina in neutral, those Williams would be able to pull it!
Wifeypoo was home last night and we had dinner at her folk's house. Had a good time. She had a nice surprise waiting for me when we got home.

RTTRAINCOLLECTOR, BILL can't get down to Lancaster on Friday or Saturday got to go to sister-in-laws. We'll have to meet sometime later.
All have a good one.

Good morning,
Temp of 15 and wind chill of "0" and windy.
Off to the museum in a few minutes, just stopped in to say hello.
Take care,

glad that worked out.
I may start on a simple garage layout for my 82 year old father. (He lives across the street.) He's in good shape for his age and could use a diversion while he cares for Mom, who has Alzheimers.
You're a good fellow. That's going to be a nice treat for the both of you.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cold, sunny 14 degrees. Going up to a cold 24 today. Looks like we will have sun most of the day. That is good.
Today, I have to run some errands, locally. Then, I will have some time for the train room. Need to do a little work on mounting down the Atlas bridge and track. A little work every day adds up. GG1 looks good running the upper loop with pantographs up. Plenty of clearance.
Dining Car is here early. No stops at " points west " yet. Breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
It is sunny and cold with temps in the 30s in SE Indiana. I played indoor soccer last night and I am not too sore this morning. I finished up the bran muffins this morning so the dining car is kind of bare heading to "Points East". Buckeye, you must have mixed emotions this morning as the Purdue women beat OSU for the Big Ten title in basketball last night. Dr. John, glad to hear everybody in your family is ok. My son gets his license possibly this Friday, and then I will really have to worry every time he goes out. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Went to bed early last night... was up till 1:30am on Sunday because computer was having issues. Feel much better today. Was talking with the wife last night... seems while I was away Friday she watched one of her shows on HGTV... show was about building secret doors, trap doors, passage ways, and secret rooms, so she has it in her mind that we need a secret door somewhere in the new house... direct quoted conversation:Wife - I want you to build a secret door on the wine cellar in the new house!
Me - What on Earth for?
Wife - Because it would be cool.
Me - I have no idea how to build something like that.
Wife - You are smart, figure it out. You have until June to come up with something.
Me - WHAT? You are serious? You have to hide the thing so no one knows it is there!
Wife - They are easy to build.
Me - Oh really?
Wife - Yes I saw it on TV
Me - ..........................................................................
Brent,
I saw a cool one on tv once. These two guys lived together in this big house. Twice each week, they would need to slip away to do some work. They used a cool hidden door to do so. It looked like a bookcase, but when a switch was flipped in a bust of Shakespear, the bookcase door would open. Behind the bookcase were 2 fire poles that they used to slide down to a basement under the house.
I wish I could remember what show that was . . .
Yeah, but why did they dress up in costumes to go out all the time - didn't they want their friends to recognize them?
Good morning from a cold Chicago where Kevin has sent more of his Alaskan air. Fully 15 degrees below 'normal'. Successfully added another lock-on to the main line on the far side of the layout - made a big impact with the voltage drops as you might imagine. I jamed both the wires for each terminal into one of those spade connectors I think they're called and tried to crimp them together. 'Course I have to do something about the wire stretching across everything.
Dr. John, that layout for your dad sounds like a great idea.
Glad Jim A enjoyed his surprise.

For all you folks stuck in the cold weather.....I'm sorry to tell you.....Today will be another beautiful day in the Mile High City. Temps will reach near 60. This is good...the snow is melting and even some of the tulips are starting to poke their heads out of the ground.
Not much else to report right now. I ordered a couple of books yesterday on benchwork and one on scenery. Looking forward to their arrival.
I hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.

Standard in all Southern homes. That is in case Yankees come to town. You go down, slip out the back and surround them.
Morning all. Sunny and cool but warming tomorrow and on thru the week. Want to do some garden work before I have to leave Thursday. Got Dermatologist apt this afternoon. Yes, back to see her again. Been the longest we have been without me visiting since the fall.
Got to get outside and on tractor. Later.

Benny Hill seamed to be a bigger hit outside the UK which was sad really. Ever seen the original film "The Italian Job" (not the horrific re-make from a few years back, If they had done a full remake of the opening sequence with a new Lambo I might have said it was ok) Michael Caine and Benny Hill are in it. Classic car fans will love the opening sequence. Lamborghini Mura, twisty road in the Italian alps, Matt Monro on the stereo with the thunder of the V12 in the background......heaven

P.S. Billy Piper (Rose) was on BBC TopGear Sunday night...See thru tops are just not fair
Good Afternoon everyone,
I just saw the strangest thing. I was coming home from getting some blood work done, and as my mom and I passed under the NS bridge, I looked up and saw a Dodge Dakota on the rails. Not like the car that can be put on rails, I mean one side inside the rails and the other on the outside. The truck has no markings on it, and is just plain white.
Colin, I have seen something like that before. Then a Conrail fast freight ended the trucks journey.
Watched a great show this morning on RFD. Trains and Locomotives was on the Santa Fe's Super Chief. It was a great show hosted by Michael Gross. They had lots of train footage, but also plenty of interviews by both the former passengers as well as crew and administration. Sure was the days of the "Romance of the Rails".
Did some wiring last night. Have one section of Fastrack that for some reason just doesn't like the solder. I wire brushed it and will try again. Same solder has worked everywhere else on the layout.
John, got that NYC Mack Flatbed with load from Stewart's Hobbies, it is a nice looking truck. I even got it while the wife was away, so she didn't see the $70 price tag.

Dennis,
I was very suprised to see the SUV there. One minute I thought I saw it driving on a road, the next minute I see it driving on the RR tracks. I have been to the area where the SUV was, and there is no access road near the tracks there.

Dennis : glad you got that truck !! We're all going to want to see a picture of it some time !!
I came up with another idea for loads below. This is just in the planning stages so far !! This a Kenworth truck I picked up at a train show with Tom for 10 bucks & the trailer is a Lionel steel hauler trailer !! I'm going to need a steel mill now !!
Hope everyone has a nice evening !!
Thanks, John
Evenin' boys. Someone grab that rodent Phil, and lets put his head back up on the pike...I'm tired of the cold! People in Buffalo must be either crazy, or never thaw out enough to leave.
88 - Next Monday or Tuesday after work is fine. We'll play it by ear as the weekend gets near. I've been fortunate enough to get a tour of the Conway engine shops, which still has a working turntable. More impressive are the huge sanding silos on the south side of the tower. They would make an interesting background flat.
Chief - did you get to go trackside in Virginia?
Afternoon All.
I come with some sad news for yuz giz, as Laz would put it, and your help. I am adding some info here and on the "G" board so collectively keep an eye out.

VANDALISM AND GRAND THEFT AT WALTER ANDERSEN NURSERY IN POWAY
Between the hours of 5:40 P.M. on March 2nd, 2007 and 8:15 A.M. on March 3rd, 2007, suspect(s) unknown entered the grounds of Walter Andersen Nursery in Poway, California and either destroyed or stole several thousand dollars worth of track, large scale rolling stock and plants. The crimes are being investigated by the Poway office of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
The suspect(s) entered the grounds by cutting the chain link fence at the southwestern corner of the property and then proceeded to the garden railroad layout area where they vandalized several feet of track, buildings, and bridges. Apparently, the suspect(s) were interrupted at some point because they left a trash barrel filled with buildings and track and switches stacked at both the point of exit and a various locations on the layout. However, losses to both the thefts and vandalism are extensive and the losses are in the thousands of dollars.
Please pay attention to anyone who is trying to sell used track or rolling stock. The track and switches are either LGB orAristocraft code 332 brass. The stolen rolling stock consists of some dozen boxcars, Aristocraft Santa Fe dome liner streamline passenger cars, and three Aristocraft track cleaning cabooses(one yellow, one gray, one red). Also, three(3)Aristocraft log cars are missing.
Unique items lost are as follows: one(1) boxcar specially lettered for Walter Andersen Nursery, one(1) boxcar lettered with the Sea World logo, and one(1) boxcar lettered for AG Edwards.
If you have any information or are contacted by someone trying to fence these items, contact the Poway office of the S.D. County Sheriff's Office at (858) 513-2800.
Unless these crooks are planning to build a garden railroad, they are going to have to fence the hot property either at a swap meet, hobby shop, or one of us. It's not a great big huge fraternity we belong to so, hopefully, the stuff will show up and we can bust them.

So many roads, so little time.
I wonder if they need help with the clean up?
I liked this story too http://wcpo.com/news/2007/local/03/06/butler_co.html
Head is finally clearing up, but I'm worn out, esp at the end of the day. This bug is really no fun.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Getting the kids ready for bed. Now I have a few moments before I head there. Found out today that the hospital that was hit by the tornado here is very unstable and they are planning on taking it down and building a new one. It should take 2 years, but in the mean time, we will handle the patients from there. It is unfortunate as the area the hospital served was a very poor area and for many, it was the only close health care. We can handle them, but for some, they can't make the extra travel.
Hope everyone has a great night.

Good evening Guys and Gals
Just me and the dog here again tonight...The Mrs. was with her friend Georgine who had cardiac catheterization all day down in Baltimore. They found out she did not have a heart attack. She has a defective aortic valve and they are checking her for a dissecting aorta. Sounds like she probably has some major heart surgery in her future. Dennis is that standard treatment for such things?
Keep Georgine and my buddy Dave (kidney failure) in your prayers.
Was going to run trains tonight, but the dog was pouting from being home alone all day (she's not spoiled is she?) so I stayed in the house.
Not looking forward to the upcoming snow. We really don't need another snow day...
