Hello there,

Roy.....glad you're improving

Steak & onion fried in butter and baked sweet tater for supper.

The ice storm predicted for today turned into much ado about nothing.

Tree started dropping needles so we took it down and gave it to daughters goats yesterday. Today working on putting away Christmas. Probably finish tomorrow.

Cable, phone, internet bill recently jumped from $200 to $300 a month. Decided to cut the landline, that got it to $200 again. Tech was here today and installed a different modem.

Best get back toit

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

Morning all and congrats Fife!

Not much has been going on.  Still messing with trains a bit.  Changed out some smoke units wicking and changed a few traction tires.

Hope everyone is staying safe.  Good thoughts for all!

Mornin' boys. Cloudy and 31 along the Allegheny front range. We got the icy conditions that Banksie didn't get. And fife was stuck on street with a kinda steep grade for some 45 minutes, waiting for conditions to improve. Finally got to kid's house, where Grandma was waiting, and I decided to assemble the dresser/changing table before attempting to venture back to Fifedom.

Thanks for all the well-wishes and at-a-boys. Instead of handing out cigars, I'm handing out bottles of Mega Steam!PirateThumbs Up

Aloha. Grey and much colder this morning. Glad I cleared all the snow late yesterday with the help of my youngest. Then i was pretty beat for the rest of the evening. Encouraged my oldest on his way home from work - he's finally ready to go back to school to finish his degree.

Such good news in Fife-land!

Hmm, Kev, I should check my FOID card.

48, cloudy and messy.  Guessers say snow late tonight early AM.  Maybe an inch [with temps this high?].  Doom and gloom guessers.  Try to cause excitement.  Had to go to Lisa's to meet with developer about them messing up her yard.  Her and the kids are quarantined.  Daughter sick but not hospitalized. Now frig repairman coming to see what he needs to order for icemaker repair.  A new icemaker, stupid.  Under warranty.

Scheduled to get my vaccine shot tomorrow.

Have a good one.

Afternoon folks!

Sunny and 50's-ish. Not so bad. And no snow to clear!

Feeling OK and certainly improving a bit day-by-day. One side affect of radiation is this incredible fatigue - that extra sleep does not help with. Just have to push through it.

Fife - congrats to the family!

Take care all!

Regards, Roy

Mornin' boys. Cold and grey along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Supposed to get down right frigid today. Only thing on the agenda is to pay some utility bills. In person. No usps.

The new mommy will be discharged today. Baby has to stay another week or more. Premies. It will be hard on her mentally, but she can be there all she wants, so she can get a little rest and freshen up,so it might be a small blessing.

Roy, continued well wishes on your recovery.

34 degrees and sunny.  Woke up at 8:15.  Got up to the blizzard.

Wifey got up at 3:30 to watch it snow. Surprise  Children!  I woke up at 3:15 and looked out.  Was snow hard and big flakes.  Was pretty.  I got back in bed and went back to sleep.

Crazy TV folks.  Found 2 18 wheelers on I 95 east of us off the road.  Big reporting.  along with one tree fell in Raleigh [reporter and camera there reporting constantly].  These folks need something to report.  Its funny

Get my shot later today [12:50].

Fifey, all will be fine.

Hope all stay warm and well.

That's pretty much what we got Chief, on the lawns, not the roads, picturesque but not a PITA, if you know what I mean.

It'll be gone in about 24 hours, maybe less.

Was 0 out when I got up and won't hit the high 20s today but there is full sun so makes it good enough for me. What little snow we got is not going any place for at least a few days. If they are right more snow on the way for Doug Saturday and it just may be rain for us. We will see. No word from the county on shots yet. I did see that to get it there will be a 60 mile round trip unless they open up more places.. Give me a break!

Going to cook up some chicken tenders and srooms in the egg air fryer for lunch. Dinner

Well, Lady Firestorm did manage to "crack the code" and found a county site where we could register for the shots, so we did.  Now we wait for the word.

Not losing any sleep over it, it'll happen when it happens.

38 and strong wind. Got the shot. Easy and very efficient. Feel fine. Stopped and got hotdogs from Cookout. Then left Caddy [again for the same thing] and got loaner.

Now home. Goof off.

30 mile round trip is nothing but 60 is a push. You would just think they could set up something at the county seat 8 miles away? It is what it is? It well may change by the time they call me in. I see they are asking the guard to set up sites now. We will see how that goes?

Good evening,

I think we were supposed to get some snow but it didn't happen.  I have not paid one bit of attention to the vaccine news as I have no intention of getting it.

Good night,

30 degrees and sunny. High today is guessed at 38. Mom use to say, "The snow is staying around for more." Guessed wintery mix coming. NC usually has snow and within 24, all gone. Today is The Box work day.

Cooked 3 egg ham, cheese and onion omelet. No peppers to chop and put in.

Today Show featured a principal of North Charleston SC High. Works night shift stocking at Walmart. Gives all his salary back to the kids. Been doing it for some time. Over 90% of his students are living BELOW the poverty level. Store manager did not know he was a principal.  Walmart donated 50K to the high school. Maybe some of the rich folks in Charleston proper will help.

Sunny and cool on The North Bluff.

The weather birds are all chirping about 5"-9" of white stuff Saturday night to Sunday night. They were way off the ball last time so I hope they are wrong again.  Laugh

Joe I would bet your not in your late 60s or older if your taking a pass on the shot. With all of your military back ground I bet you have had plenty of shots over the years.  You remind me of what my old friend Cliff used to say, "I would rather be a carrier than a victim."  Smile, Wink & Grin   I know when I was sent to China for work I had at least 7 or 8 shots for everything you could dream of getting. I made it there and back without issue. Been taking flu shots since the early 80s. Never had the flu or anything close till Feb of last year and I think that was Covid before they knew about it.

Been cooking wood last two days hard. Want to burn up the last of the four years dry stuff so I can have re-stock room in the wood shed. Chains are on the tractor and plow is on the Rusty Ranger, let it rip. Wink

Good morning all,

Work has been more busy that it should be.  Pain 2 is still around and has the most experience of any there and yet did several dumb things she was not supposed to do and should have known better.   Thing is there is a very short window where activity is not allowed and she does nothing almost all month except for then.  Ugh.  Taking the day off so I do not have to deal with her....  Finally found out why no fans were at the 500 last year from a fairly reliable source who is credible on most of what is reported.  I think some people take the track for granted.   One day they may wake up and it will be gone and those same people will be wondering what happened.  I got an email showing the Mini shirt.  I can tell they do not think it will happen as the design is very very plain and generic.

On the brighter side, congrats to Fifedog and family and prayers the newest addition will be home soon.  Some snow here but not much.  I hope everybody has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Isn't that interesting!  February of last year the same thing happened to Lady Firestorm and me, she got the flu first and gave it to me. (Wouldn't take it back either!)

Chills, temperatures, weakness, typical flu symptoms, made us miserable but didn't knock either one of us on our butts. Four days with generous doses of DayQuil, NyQuil, and in my case shots of "Virginia Gentleman" and it was over.  We've been wondering the same thing, was it COVID before all the alarms were sounded?  There's posters on the "Trains" Forum wondering the same thing who had it at the same time we did.

And that's the first time I've had the flu in 20 years.  The last bout knocked me out for two days, really  knocked me out!

And having been in the military I've gotten ALL the shots!  You name it, I got it!

Same here, chills, temperatures, for one day, weakness, typical flu symptoms plus a non-productive chough. I did Tamiflu I had left over from my China med bag. Kicked me hard for four days and the cough was hard for about eight weeks.   I gave it to wifey. I still have what they call long-haul cough to this day?  About 3 or 4 months later I gave blood, they said they checked for antibodies but if I had them they were to low to count and that I may or may not of had it???

Aloha. Sunny and cold - but warmer than yesterday - I sure appreciate the sun. As Kev says, we're supposed to get 6-9 inches Saturday night. Hope they are wrong. Glad the princess is home, Fife, and the baby is being looked after. Today is turning out to be a nice day of work - which means I can get things done without too many Zoom meetings! No big plans for the weekend.

Happy Friday,

A busy day at work and I am ready for bed now.  Yes, I had my fair share of shots during my military career.  And yes, I am 46, in great health, and not in any risk category.

Have a great weekend,

Mornin' boys. Sunny and 14 (but it doesn't feel that bad) along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will get snohizo tomorrow.

I've been driving Middle Princess back and forth to hospital, but only she gets to enter. Little one off O2, eating well, and very animated. The nurses love him. Hard to be a grandparent in these times, and I only have contempt for those who've created this "new normal".

On a much lighter note, Youngest is here for the weekend. She'll be putting finishing touches in the nursery.

Unflattering article in the local fish wrap this week, concerning the scenic railroad. Not opening up anytime soon me thinks.

Aloha and happy Saturday. Lots of snow due overnight - the bride wants me to drive the youngest to his job and pick him up because of the pending weather. Last time this came up, I blew this off and his brother ran the car into a fire hydrant. This time, I may listen to her. Maybe I'll even try to get ready to do our taxes later.

Glad the middle princess has you as a driver, Fife. Hope the nursey is all set for the baby.

Too bad the article was not positive. The IL Railway Museum has been trying all sorts of interesting 'drive through' things.
