Lady Firestorm just got off the phone with her niece in Lansdale PA (Henning's Trains territory Wink) and the snow's just starting  there now.

Must be a very slow-moving storm.

I am certainly jealous of all the snow some of you have.  It's been mostly rain here.

This is a little bit of what we had in the local mountains to the East of San Diego. Look up towards the mountains while throwing another burger on the grill. Chef

Just finished clearing four inches of global warming off the cars and driveway.  Enjoying a mug of hot chawklet.

"Chawklet?"  Well, I AM from New Jersey after all!

Maybe some cawfee later to go with the banana bread Lady F's baking!

Had to walk Youngest Princess down to the state road, but boyfriend got her back to college safe-and-sound.  Now I can just sit back and enjoy the lovely snow in our sylvan setting. And play trains.

Hello there,

Rich....Spanky  condolences.

Roy .....keep getting better

Predicted snowmageddon has begun. Supposed to be 12 inches on the way, an inch so far.

We had preordered curbside ham loaf from a local eatery. Main roads good,  side roads  not so much. Snow is the kind that turns to ice as soon as it's driven  on.

Dinner is over, time to reclinerize.

Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic

Very well put DougDG! Bow I agree. Sorry it has to hit some in the eyes before they can see.

The snow is heading east and good! We had hard rain before it turned to snow. Woke up to about 5" to 6" of very heavy heartattack snow. We may get another 1' today yet. The Rusty Ranger and tractor did the job on the 1/2 mile lane and I also opened up everyone else's drives while I was out there.

Wonder how much Doug M got?

Sorry about your friend Spank. Angel

Is there a risk in taking the vaccine, yes. But in

my case where I essentially have one foot in the

grave already the risk of NOT taking it is even

greater.

I have had to send out condolences to far to many

friends and acquaintances from here and

especially from the cancer website. It's really

playing hell on trying to get motivated to do

anything.

Yeah, we're getting snow here in the Richmond VA area, too late for Christmas when it might have done some good!  You know, making things look picturesque and reflecting the lights nicely?  All we had at the time was rain and mud!  Jeez!

Four inches so far and it's still coming. Well, I guess I know what I'll doing today.

Rainy and cold [33] morning. Slept till 9. Sausage biscuit and sweet roll. SisterIL calling. Bet it, "Lets go somewhere."

TV Church.

TV folks disappointed no freezing stuff around here. They are running around the VA border looking. Now all they need is for a tree to fall in Raleigh and they will be happy.  Actually not a lot of news this AM.

Spanky, so sorry.

Snip, I took it and was fine.  Shoulder mussle was sore for about 12.

Hope all are safe and well.

Mornin' boys. Snohizo in Wild, Wonderful West Virginee. Hopefully the boyfriend can get the Youngest Princess back to college safely.

After dropping Middle Princess off at hospital, went to visit my mom, and share pics of the new kid. She had a care package made up for baby already. She and Jamie are close.

PickEd up all the women's, and headed to Middle Princess castle, so Alexis could work on the nursery. I managed to really clamp down on the fingers on my right hand, forcing open a metal step ladder. Won't be picking on the ukulele anytime soon. Man.

Good news, my long awaited engine finally showed up in the mailbox. It had been mailed before Dec 16, from Alabama. American Flyer (Lionel '84) Chessie 8459 in like new condition. Barely had time to lube it up and run it around the layout before I had to play chauffeur.

Good evening all,

We are getting SNOHIO!  Everything is white.  Windy as well.  Supposed to go to rain and back again.  Glad I do not have to drive to the office.  I think I know what will kill magazines....slow postal service.  Still have not received any of the March Kalmbach issues and usually they are all here by now.  Did watch a comedy of errors today in the "footie" match.  Usually when there is a tie (especially 0-0) you say it would have been a shame for one team to lose.  Today it would have been a shame if one team had won.  LOL.  Did go to Mass and did see the Honda train on the way there.  That was a win-win.  Watched the start of the Daytona 24 and will watch the end tomorrow.  DJ, sorry to hear about your friend.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Spank I am so sorry to hear that, my sincere condolances to you and your family.

You are right, losing a close friend really, really sucks.  Happened to me twice last year.  It's still unbelieveable.

But what can you do?  In my case I did the Marine thing:  Take the hit, shed a tear, square yourself away and continue the march.  Proceed with the mission, which is life itself.

From what I've heard there's been a very small  minority of people who had an adverse reaction to the flu shot, basically typical of any kind of vaccination on a large scale.

I'm not concerned myself, when the shot's available I'm getting one.  I'm 67, just so everyone knows.

I just used the "Google Machine" to research the reactions, I found out nothing that disturbs me.  Great tool, that "Google Machine."

I know a lot of you are wanting to get "the" flu shot.

But, I've read some negative reports from various people in medicine and virology that makes me want to hold off for a while.  I'm over 60 years old, so, I'm not in a "high risk" group.

One of the reports has seen indications that if you are asymptomatic, or already have the virus in you, the vaccine, instead of preventing the virus, will give it a green light.

Good morning,

Yesterday I cleaned out the north side of the wood shed and stocked the front porch. Then because it was nice out I went down to the creek and cut a large Gator load of wood to use as weight. Will split and stack it latter. Dang near did not get up the hill to get out of the creek. But after the second try,,,,I made it. Surprise

Man the weather guessers are all over the place on this one. Every TV station has the sky falling but when I check the NOAA site looks like nothing again. So it looks like Doug and I will just have to wait and see. We have been babysitting the Grandpup for the daughter. (They are showing their house this weekend) Big dumb puppy. She sure likes all the room here but don't listen to anything she does not want to. She has taken over my chair and the Cat would just as soon have her gone. Laugh

Warmed to 34.  Off to get Caddy from dealer.  If not fixed this time, GM says replace radio [screen and all].  Should have been done earlier as 5th time in.  Get free loaner.  Just the trip to Raleigh.  Incorporate errands with it.  Then finish painting shelves for Wifey's work.  Owner wanted me to do.

Stay warm and well.

Unflattering article in the local fish wrap this week,

Uh-huh.  Our local, which used to be excellent, seems to be slowly but surely following the herd and turning itself into a house organ for a certain political party which shall remain unnamed.

Well, if they lose business then just like the others they've only themselves to blame.

Aloha and happy Saturday. Lots of snow due overnight - the bride wants me to drive the youngest to his job and pick him up because of the pending weather. Last time this came up, I blew this off and his brother ran the car into a fire hydrant. This time, I may listen to her. Maybe I'll even try to get ready to do our taxes later.

Glad the middle princess has you as a driver, Fife. Hope the nursey is all set for the baby.

Too bad the article was not positive. The IL Railway Museum has been trying all sorts of interesting 'drive through' things.

Mornin' boys. Sunny and 14 (but it doesn't feel that bad) along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will get snohizo tomorrow.

I've been driving Middle Princess back and forth to hospital, but only she gets to enter. Little one off O2, eating well, and very animated. The nurses love him. Hard to be a grandparent in these times, and I only have contempt for those who've created this "new normal".

On a much lighter note, Youngest is here for the weekend. She'll be putting finishing touches in the nursery.

Unflattering article in the local fish wrap this week, concerning the scenic railroad. Not opening up anytime soon me thinks.

Happy Friday,

A busy day at work and I am ready for bed now.  Yes, I had my fair share of shots during my military career.  And yes, I am 46, in great health, and not in any risk category.

Have a great weekend,

Joe

I still have what they call long-haul cough to this day?

Man, I'd have that checked, if you haven't done so already!  Forgive me if you have, but I worry about you guys!  That doesn't sound good.

Aloha. Sunny and cold - but warmer than yesterday - I sure appreciate the sun. As Kev says, we're supposed to get 6-9 inches Saturday night. Hope they are wrong. Glad the princess is home, Fife, and the baby is being looked after. Today is turning out to be a nice day of work - which means I can get things done without too many Zoom meetings! No big plans for the weekend.

Never had the flu or anything close till Feb of last year and I think that was Covid before they knew about it.

Isn't that interesting!  February of last year the same thing happened to Lady Firestorm and me, she got the flu first and gave it to me. (Wouldn't take it back either!)

Chills, temperatures, weakness, typical flu symptoms, made us miserable but didn't knock either one of us on our butts. Four days with generous doses of DayQuil, NyQuil, and in my case shots of "Virginia Gentleman" and it was over.  We've been wondering the same thing, was it COVID before all the alarms were sounded?  There's posters on the "Trains" Forum wondering the same thing who had it at the same time we did.

And that's the first time I've had the flu in 20 years.  The last bout knocked me out for two days, really  knocked me out!

And having been in the military I've gotten ALL the shots!  You name it, I got it!

Same here, chills, temperatures, for one day, weakness, typical flu symptoms plus a non-productive chough. I did Tamiflu I had left over from my China med bag. Kicked me hard for four days and the cough was hard for about eight weeks.   I gave it to wifey. I still have what they call long-haul cough to this day?  About 3 or 4 months later I gave blood, they said they checked for antibodies but if I had them they were to low to count and that I may or may not of had it???

Good morning all,

Work has been more busy that it should be.  Pain 2 is still around and has the most experience of any there and yet did several dumb things she was not supposed to do and should have known better.   Thing is there is a very short window where activity is not allowed and she does nothing almost all month except for then.  Ugh.  Taking the day off so I do not have to deal with her....  Finally found out why no fans were at the 500 last year from a fairly reliable source who is credible on most of what is reported.  I think some people take the track for granted.   One day they may wake up and it will be gone and those same people will be wondering what happened.  I got an email showing the Mini shirt.  I can tell they do not think it will happen as the design is very very plain and generic.

On the brighter side, congrats to Fifedog and family and prayers the newest addition will be home soon.  Some snow here but not much.  I hope everybody has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
