Mornin' boys and girls. And a Happy '21 to you all.

We shall see...

Oldest Princess arrived with the grandsons yesterday, and the first thing the curly top wanted to do (even before opening his gifts) was to see the trains running. Among other items, the older grandson received a Lionel exploding boxcar and ammo dump. The youngest grandson received the Menards PRR flat with lights and sounds Excavator, and a Lionel PRR flat with Ertl road grader. FifePop's AF Chessie diesel is still in the mail somewhere. Oh well.

Had a wonderful crab cake dinner with all three princesses. FifePup is working at the marina in Hernando, FL, and FaceTimed me during his lunch break.

Angel for Roy, Brent, Marty and whomever else may need our thoughts.

Looks like we are in for some winter mix today. So I will hunker down, start a fire in the fireplace and binge watch Twilight Zone with the cat. Wink

Noon.  Lazy morning.  Slept late.  Wifey and I sat in den and watched some of her favorite fixer up TV shows.  Now she will take down another Christmas tree. Blackeye peas and pork in the crockpot.  Turnip greens in the frig ready to heat.

I am going to the Train Box and permanently wire the lighting in my Menards buildings [new and old].  Temp wired to see how they worked late yesterday.  Don Baker sent me some computer power supplies with various voltage lugs on them.  One lug is the right thing for Menards' lighting.  Will handle the load and more.  Seems they come out of old computers that are being scrapped.  Have quite fans in them too.  Also other voltages that can be used for other train related things.

Slow packages.  After my call the other day to PO, seems my package sitting in Raleigh distribution center moved and was delivered.  Now got one coming by slow freight FEDEX from CA.  Was at FEDEX on Friday AM.  Will be here Monday the 11th. Must be walking it.

"Rifle forum" talking about vaccine distribution.  Seems MI had gotten numbers of units but slow being given.  Well report here says NC has a lot of doses but slow being given.  What the heck!!!

Hope all have a safe and happy new year.

PS: just checked my bank account for the heck of it and the tooth fairy came by last night.  $1,200 added. Surprise Whistling

Happy New Year all!

Finished building a foam airplane with the youngest.  It can be converted to an RC plane if we buy the necessary motor and receiver kit. Other than that, it's been a quiet, rainy day.

Good night,

Good evening all,

Quiet day.  Rainy.  Spent the day reading Stephen King collection of short stories, "If It Bleeds".  Three stories were pretty good, the fourth one...meh.  Nice to be able to sit and read.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Yesterday, I took down the flagpole.

(what is this "Christmas Tree" you folks are taking down? Big Smile )

My weather station is mounted on the top, and a month or so ago its solar battery died.

The pole got away from me and as the top was heading to the ground, I managed to give it a twist to keep the weather station from hitting the ground first.  It worked, for the first bounce!

So, I had to take it apart to repair the part that holds the vane. I let the glue set overnight, and after Mass, I put in the new battery and put the pole back up.  It's working!

SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) made Shrimp Etouffee for supper tonight, Yummy!

Happy New Year,

Mornin' boys. Mornin' ladies. Mostly cloudy and 37 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will be headed to Lowe's after while, as the range went belly-up as wifey was pre-heating it for the turkey... Fired up the Weber grill, standing at the ready in the freezing rain. Adapt. Improvise. Overcome.

The day wasn't totally miserable, as curly-top and I spent morning in train room. We set up his Lionel Toy Story R/C set, and I installed a temporary postwar loop down one aisle on the carpet. We had 6 trains running at once, how cool that was.

Lazy good morning.  Slept till 9 after going to bed early.  I was tired for some reason.  54 degrees and sun  trying to come out.  1.25 inches off rain.  Really soggy as was already real wet before the rains.  Getting that water table up for the dry times.

Permanently lit three Menards buildings.  Wiring under layout now.  Got big Pepsi plant and red barn to move wiring under layout.  Think I will run a main layout breaker circuit around under layout.  Got the wire as found a big roll stored that I had forgotten.  Then when I throw on the main layout breaker, all the lights will come on.  Best part is, throw breaker off and all go off.  Don't have to walk around layout and turn them off.  Got red bulb light over the door.  If red light is out, everything on and under the layout is off.

This is the canal deer.  Have a very deep canal running around 1/2 the farm.  Turns into a creek on the end of the farm.  I have a 4 acre plot of woods that is very thick.  Was timbered several years ago.  Never thinned as to small for contractors.  He stayed there.  Came across the fields to the barns and camper at nights.  Moved across the big farm to barn stand [different barn] feeder at late night early AM.  Wondered the canal that is wooded.  He wandered across the highway on the other side of the canal the other day.  This kid got him.  Glad he did.  See how proud he is.

Have a good one.

Fife, Been there done that. Some years back the oven took a dump while I was baking cookies the day before Thanksgiving. No way to get one on same day so I roasted the bird in the B-B-Q. The only difference being is roasting it with aromatics in the cavity instead stuffing. Turned out great but I still prefer the oven.

Will be running the Christmas Trains tonight for a couple of families with special needs kids. The Santa Flyer, 0-8-0, will be requiring a major o'haul or replacement before next Christmas. If you run it in a quiet room, no other train noise, it sounds much like a coffee grinder.

Yes, you would think that with the knowledge that a vaccine of some kind was coming eventually a distribution system and priority list would have been established and waiting for the word "GO!"

I really can't say I'm surprised.  The problem as I see it is we've got a group of office holders in all levels who are perfectly competant when it's "business as usual," but when a crisis hits go all to pieces.

But that's something as old as history itself.  Some things never change.

Good evening all,

Wow!  Is it January or May?  It was sunny and in the 60s this afternoon.  The boys and I took the puppy for a long walk and some outdoor playtime while the wife hosted some friends for brunch.  I burned some leaves and piddles around in the garage before eating leftovers for dinner.

Fife - Way to take care of business.

Good night all,
Joe

Good evening all,

February CTT finally got here.  Good issue.  Wife and I played a variety of games this evening, which was nice.  Watched some "footie" as well.  Good match ended in 3-3 tie.  Weather was dreary as well.  Finally had a full Mass at the local parish.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Afternoon.  TV Church.  Now do projects.  Mainly Train Box.  Got one 120V circuit across main isle to power lights and etc.  Its on that main breaker under the edge of the layout. Now running the same to the other end of the layout.  Throw that breaker on, everything on the layout is on.  Off and everything on layout is off.

55 degrees and cloudy.  Had 1 1/2" of rain over night.

Will stay dry until next Friday so guessed.

Have a great and safe week ahead.

Spank, when I'm feeling homesick (for lack of a better term) about Jersey roads, the maintanance of same, and the drivers on them I go to the "Route 80 Rant Page."  It's a Facebook thing but you don't have to be a Facebook user to see it.  We get a lot of laughs from it!

I just may do it shortly, it'll help pass the time on the grey, wet, raw day we've got down here today.

Happy New Year all!

Been incognito - radiation accumulated affects after 4 weeks+ finally have me pretty run down - but OK. Treatment #20 tomorrow - continuing the countdown....two weeks and a day to go! Yowzeers!

Watched Texas A&M beat NC (Chief!) last night (Yes!) in the Orange Bowl.

Be careful all!

Good evening all,

Last day of vacation before starting back to work.  Hopefully this is the last new year I have to return to work.  Went to see Wonder Woman 84 today.  Very long, but after a year with almost no new movies, it was nice to be in the theater again.  A good flick, not a great one, better than most DC movies.  Had a preview for the Black Widow movie in May.  Hope we get to see that one.  Weather icky again.  Ran a little DC powered train tonight.  Used some of the 11 inch Marx straights on a siding.  They work well.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' boys and girls. Another incessantly damp day along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Weather can influence one's mood; woof.

The grandsons are safely back home, and the dust has settled. I enjoyed having them and Oldest Princess at Fifedom, just wished the weather could've been better. My favorite moments were when all 3 princesses were gathered around. I must've done something right...

Best of luck to Roy on #20. BTW, the 1309 moved on its own this weekend. Check Trains Newswire.

Hi there, We have some nice looking conditions here on The North Bluff. We had a ice storm with snow behind it and it has left us with a winter wonderland. Most time we get something like that the limbs melt off within a day but the temps have fallen and it has been like this for three days now. Yesterday The son and grandson came by and we cut and split firewood for them. Other than that not much going on. Just enjoying what God gives us.

Roy keep on moving on with #20!

Wife and I did some night riding.

 Some from today.

Trail out back.

Looking north from the deck. Got to love it. Will melt tomorrow.

Tks, Fife,, you know a pine tree is the only trees we don't have. Must be that forest clay we have?

Dennis, driving in snow is simple, just push the 4x4 button or stay home with your snow wimpy two wheel drive, wide tire, low to the ground car till it melts. Then you can do the burnouts and go fast. Nothing will go on ice. Wife has a AWD Torrent with traction control and has never been stuck in 12 years of driving it. Wink Before she retired she drove over 100 miles a day back and forth to work in all kinds of weather conditions. Driving in winter just takes some thought and common sense. If it looks like it is going to be bad, stay off the roads if you don't have the vehicle for the conditions.

When I was in high school if you took drivers ED in the good weather months and got your license they still made you put time behind the wheel later when it snowed. Today if there is 2" of snow they call off school. Laugh Might have something to do with all the driving problems in bad weather.

Happy New Year - a little belated.....

Cloudy now and 43(Stolen from Fife!)

New Years was quiet, had Mom over with Jenni and we had a small dinner and Mom was tired so I brought her home.  Returned to Jenni's for Asti and Fireworks at Midnight.

Saturday, I helped the Princess get the house straightened out and took a road trip with Jenni - made a quick stop at Hobby Lobby and picked up a few road runner and Charger signs as well as a wooden train sign for the Train Attic.

Sunday I made breakfast for us, then headed over to my sister's for her birthday - no Train Attic time this weekend - maybe next.

I did receieve a Log Loader from Jenni as a late Christmas present to replace the one that went missing - was in the garage for 30 years and suddenly disappears......go firure.

Prayers for Roy, FifeMom, MartyE's Dad and Brent's family.

Today is the 1 year anniversary of us placing Dad to rest.  Still miss him....

That's all from here in Central Jersey - will check back when possible.

Have a great New Year, EVERYONE!!
