88 - Horseshoe Curve is "open" Fri-Sun, and you have to use the very long stairwell to gain access.  Take a small cooler with drinks and snacks, and make sure the kidos use the bathroom before hitting the stairs.  However, the Gift Shop is open (don't look at the O scale prices!).  Oh, and bug spray, the flies are brutal.  On a sad note, Neeley's Trains (new store nearby), apparently went belly-up.

TGIF!!!!!!

Helped Jenni finish her frames and logos, I did the lettering and such, Jenni did the outlines and the shading.  Was done by 915.

Had Mickie D's for dinner, it was quick and close and cheap.

Listened to the Yankee game, my app said it was blacked out????  WTF!!!!!

The Princess called this morning, the rear temp garage finally collapsed , Jenni's Vespa escaped without injury, I will need to dismantle it tomorrow and  support the remaining tent.  I MAY rebuild it with steel pipe rather than the aluminum tubing.  Pretty sure steel doesn't bend.......depending on the cost, of course.  A trip to Home Depot or ACE will determine that.

Back to work - Let's see what else can break today!!

It took two days to get on here, and then ONLY if I select the Topic Heading, and go to page 1, then access page 6.   And THEN not sure this post will work and update the current status.

Well that's good to know!  A poster on the "Classic Trains" Forum who goes by the callsign "Miningman" lives up in the lake country of Saskatchewan.  A tornado ripped through his area last night and some folks on the outskirts of town were killed.  He's fine though, and I was quite relieved to hear it.

Evening folks!

Been hot, but not too hot. Running below norms for N Texess summer. No worries, Aug and Sept around the corner!

Work continues on the El Cam. The AC system is stuck on heat and some defrost. Have pulled radio, AC control head, glove box, and lower steering wheel trim so I can test the 9 vacuum lines that control 3 actuators on the air box. All bt one of the parts for the AC system rebuild have shown up. The bad news is the rare emissions diverter valve I purchased off the Bay of E appears lost in US Postal System. Guaranteed arrival by last Wed - seller has put a tracker on via USPS but it has not moved or changed status since the day it shipped in St Louis. No harm to me if it does not show - big loss for the seller. I need the part so hope it shows up.

Mornin' boys.  Overcast and 71 along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Got a call around noon, and made our way to Frederick to pick up grandsons.  They'll be visiting until Tuesday.  It's all good.  Hunter and I are planning to put down a super loop on the carpet today.  The curly top wore out the whistle button on the Marx accessory board.

Sat down to check out the O's Vs. BoSox game annndd--->Sigh

Got an email from rt stating he's been "banned" from CTT.  I hope this issue can be resolved.

What's goinng on?  Everyone is having trouble and I only had a small problem two weeks ago where I had to actually log in and it did not use the stored data. Many times I see wrong page number and sometimes an actual page is missing, too.

BTW, does anyone use an Apple cell phone to post on the CTT forum? I can get the site to display, but it is not in "cell phone" format.

Well, slept till 10.  Was a tired old guy.  Two long days.  Yesterday was early out to deliver produce boxes.  Delivery was OK but had two vet techs with me.  They gave free rabies shots to the many cats and dogs of the mobile home parks.  Owners were so happy and gracious.  About 100 animals vaccinated.  Got home in time to potty [no potty places along the routes] and shower.  Out the door at 5:30 to go 20 min. away to Wifey's Master Gardener friend's for dinner and long visit.  Poured rain while we sat under a big gazebo.  Got home after 11.  We had rain too.

We were at Lowes Thursday afternoon late.  Wifey found a big pond filter.  Purchased it and we had a super big volume pond pump.  Got it working.  Now her green pond is turning clearer.  She had to clean it this AM.   Her pond is a 280 gal stock tank.  Rather big for a fish pond.  She has lots of plants in it and 7 fish [getting big].   Big filter and big volume pump makes a difference.  Filter is piped above water and easy to clean.  Blows water half way across the tank.  Worth the purchase as she was constantly clean submerged small filter.

Now mow grass and rest.  99 and humid on weather station.

See computer says train cars from Menard's have arrived.

Have a good one.

Good Morning,

First, I would like to thank Steven Otte for what he was able to do to resolve the issue on the "Pot", Thanks!

Weather is a little cooler than usual here, but may be changing soon.

Roy, sure hope the El Camino comes together well, repair after a fire is probably the most difficult job there is!  Not just wiring but hoses and tubes and so many other plastic/rubber parts that can be affected and hard to detect.

BTW, I've been able to reduce my reapair bill by $1500 to $2000! I was able to provide some of the parts from my "buddy" El Camino Mike.  He has been my source for years for incidentials and some repair on mine.  I was able to provide the Radiator Core Frame, Front Bumper, Hood, and a couple other small parts.  Hopefully another week or 10 days and it will be back.

Anj, CONGRATS  on the engagement!!!  That was cool the way you did it!!!

Dennis, I don't think there were any controversial posts, I know there has been an issue logging off, but that's it.  Then a couple days ago if you tried to open the Coffee Pot, you got an error message.  But that has obviously been fixed.

Don't know why RT would have been banned, he posted a couple of pictures of his train and storage areas, I don't think that was a problem.  Hopefully we will see him on here soon.  His information is still here.

Smokey1, Welcome back!  Don't be a stranger.

Fife, Has your daughter passed the test yet?  Hope it all goes well for her.  Hope she doesn't get in the way of the bears!

Buckeye, How's it going at the museum?  Lots of hour?  I'm sure your having a good time!  Do they run any tourist demos? Or is it all static?

Well better get busy, see what I can get into today.

Have a great weekend all, and be safe!

Don

It might just be a "moderation," which means it's a two week exile.  Happened to me, but I won't bore everyone with why.

RT must have PO'd somebody over something, who knows what?  I sure didn't see anything objectionable!    You want objectionable?  Check out the "If You're Stopped By Police" thread on the "Trains" Forum!  Ay-yi-yi  as my grandfather used to say!  Talk about out of control!

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 67 now, but s'posed to be a hot one along the Alleghany front range.  Not sure what Grandmom has in store today.  Took the oldest grandson up the mountain to go fishing at my folks' place.  He hooked a dozen or so, then worked with my nephew to finish a LEGO thingie.  FifeMom wasn't having a good day, and I was a bit leary leaving...  After dinner with Middle and Youngest Princesses and their Beaus, the boys and I put together a large carpet layout in the family room.  Then they started to battle over the C-80 controller, so bathtime.DevilDevil

If someone else could start Sunday Photo Fun, I might be able to post a pic later.

If you knew M.B.Klein (Model Train Stuff), Ted Klein passed away.  I still remember the cramped, but wonderfully stocked store down on Gay Street, and Ted would add your purchase, with pencil and paper, before ringing you up.  I miss that experience these days.

Same old same old. Hot and humid. Resting and staying in.

Got train cars from Menards. They do love their tape. Everything extra taped. Takes a good knife to get into the boxes.

Enjoy the week ahead.

Afternoon folks!

Cloudy and warm. The good thing about hurricanes in the Gulf is they bring N Texess some cloud cover and cool temps (93!!!) Cool

Got a Lisle vacuum tester from Amazon and was able to test all the vacuum actuators in the El Cam air box. Good news all the actuators work! Individually tested all the other vacuum lines and they are all good. Looks like the issue is with the "mode selector" 7 position 9 port circular vacuum switch not holding vacuum. As is normal, you can still get the switches except the one I need. Gonna take it apart and see what I might be able to do with it. It is a circular rubber gasket/maze that interconnects 9 ports. I read a post that some have rescued the switch with an 8-32 screw and locknut - replacing the weakened snap plastic retainer.

Yesterday I got tired of constantly taking things apart - and the growing pile - and decided I needed to put something back together. So I tackled the drivers door and got it back together. A rubber boot I needed showed up yesterday via Amazon so I can finish the passenger door and get it back together.

Mornin' Fellas

I got an IM from RT... he had a discussion with the staff and told them if they couldn't fix the log in/out issue to just go ahead and delete his account. He wasn't "banned", he asked them to delete his account... at least that is my understanding.

Lots going on today and yesterday the tractor decided it would be fun to break the belt on the mower deck... really!?!?! Well hopefully I can get one today so I can finish mowing the lawn... it looks really nice and aweful at the same time. lol

Fife - sounds like you're having fun with the kiddos! Good thing you can send them home now. Laugh

Hot and humid.  100 on weather station [in the sun now].  Slight chance of rain.  Better chance later this week.

New camera and mic [all in one] worked. Decided to take the leap and purchase it. Seems ZOOM County meetings are the thingy. County sometimes uses some Microsoft thingy too.  Just finished a Food Security for our local area.

Now, see what to do in all the heat and humidity. Yesterday added a new siding to the railroad for more storage of covered hoppers at the grain elevator. Ran out of straight track so it is to arrive today.

Hope all have a great day.

Morning folks!

Just terrible about Neil. Great guy. Met him several times at the York meet.

Dennis - it is an '84

Yesterday spent a lot of time precisely locating the vacuum leak on the AC controls. It is definitely the circular vacuum control valve. Took it apart several times trying to clean it, get it to not leak. No luck. If I remove the center clip and use a screw (where it cannot move) to clamp it down, I can get it to work. But you cannot change the setting as it is so tight. The valve is not available anywhere I have looked. GM made many many versions of this valve and you have to have the precise PN for your vehicle. Why they needed 15 versions to control exactly the same number of vacuum actuators using exactly the same dash head assembly is beyond me. But as we can all attest - the folks who design cars are only geniuses in their own minds.

As a last resort, I will screw/clamp the valve in the Normal AC position.

Good Morning,

Sorry to hear about Neil, he will certainly be missed!

Hate to see RT not posting, but glad he wasn't banned.  Probably the same situation with SJ.  Maybe they will reconsider.

Spent last night at the ER at the VA Hospital, (for me!).  After 2-3 days having considerable discomfort, thought should go find out what the issue is.  Yep, as I thought Kidney Stones.  Have a total of about 6 or so, between 6-8 mm primarily on the left side.  Due to Covid many procedures are being done on a case by case basis, so they sent me home with some meds, and will get a call for scheduling the procedure sometime today.  Probably tomorrow.  No discomfort now but I know it will be back.  I'm glad they just didn't keep me there waiting for time.  Good News my Covid test came back Negative, so some relief with that.  (This getting old stuff can be a pain at times!)

So will most likely have a "low-key" day today, which I am getting pretty good at.

Your sure making progress Roy, hope you didn't get the parts mixed up on the two doors. Cool  That is a heck of a task, tackling that vacuum controller, I'm impressed!

Fife you need another controller!

Take care all and be safe!

Happy Monday - - - -

Sucks about Neil......

Hotter than Satan's a$$ crack, like Jenni says.....spent the day putting some stuff up on the walls, cleaning out the blow up pool and 2 hours in the warm water.  Went to dinner al fresco - a first for us in Jersey (we were out in PA in June), Jenni had more than enough and brought it home for lunch/dinner.  Cruised on over to DQ listening to the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean and mid 60s stuff.  We were in the road runner and the evening was nice enough for topless driving.

I did bring over all her N scale stuff - construction will start in the fall when we can't get out of the house or it's too cold.  I'm thinking we can do the O scale in front of the main layout and set that up in the mountainous area near the wall and transition to an N scale town on the left side wall.  We'll keep the O scale stuff in front and make a big oval with a passing track in front, sort of a faux double main line and this single track will run through the mountain on the back.  Main street will be easy, probably use LeMax and Dept. 56 buildings depending on time of year she wants.  We have a few N scale buildings so we'll need to get more.  So far, Greenburg's Edison is still on Aug. 29 and 30.

I'd add a photo, but the software is meh.....lol.

Another blaze day on tap - 90s and high humidity.  Did not get shopping done last night, will go tonight after dinner.

Took oldest grandson to hike Pawpaw tunnel, on the C&O Canal towpath.  He loved it, and asked a million questions.  Lots of folks were also hiking, on a Monday.

The first part of my post dissappeared when I hit post.  ?????  Sorry software.

Finished extra siding for grain elevator siding.  Now I can split hoppers and push/pull then for filling an storage without gettin on mainline.  MTH Realtrax is expensive trash.  Had to fix a section that had the pins soldered together.  Was not giving center rail voltage.  Seen that before even in new track.

Rifle forum guy asked me this question.  I told him what I thought it was but need varification.

Have a good one.

Afternoon folks!

Cloudy and some drizzle - high of 89 today - gotta get a sweater NOT!

Some good news - I made one more crack at the vacuum selector valve, carefully sanding it a bit to flatten. It works! So now I can control all the ac, heater, defroster vents and temp blend door. Put it all back together and it still worked. Whew! Then I drained old antifreeze and changed the upper and lower radiator hoses and added a flush and water that I will run a few days. Now working on changing spark plugs and wires while a lot of eng compartment/smog stuff is out of the way. Even then the plugs and wires are a pita to get to.

Chief - obviously that sign means there is 3-rail track ahead!

Grocery shopping was a nightmare last night, got home at 11, they didn't have a lot of the things I had on my list.

Dinner at BK before I came home and that was it.

Spoke with the President of the County Association and he feels good enough to run the meeting next Wednesday.

Mom is feeling better, we'll go see Jenni for dinner at her house tonight.

90s again today and hooooomid to beat the band.   Not much else happening.

Well you be careful with the heat up there Spank, it can catch up with you before you know it!

I cut the grass and whizzed the weeds today and the temp was up around 100.  No ill effects but I drank two litres of water during the process (2.10 quarts) and trust me, it never made it to my bladder!  Embarrassed
