Afternoon.  Slept late this AM.  Being lazy.  Rain again this evening per guessers.  1.75 inches late yesterday.

Class A went back to Tranz on their dime.  Beginning to question their reliability.  We'll see and I will give a report.

Dougsnotagrump.  Sounds like you are eating.  That is good.  Should help with all the others.

All have a great week ahead.

Good Morning,

"Don, yuz folks in CA are always causing the rest of the US problems." Chief

"Don what Da Chief said."   S.J

What can I say?  Pretty much the truth.  It would be pointless to list all the items that have far reaching affects that originate here.   But you do have to admit there is never a dull moment, and sometimes it is very entertaining.  I heard on the news yesterday that the Calif Supreme Court vetoed the idea of 3 seperate states appearing on the Nov ballot.

In considering alternatives to Cal., have done some research on MI and PA.  Actually ran across the late night show "Parking Wars".  It is hilarious!  Focuses on Detroit and Philly.  Not really creating a very positive image for either location.

Weather is hopefully cooling down a little this next week, and great news is this Holy Fire is currently 40% contained and hopefully be 100% by Friday!  (Looking outside we still have a significant smoke layer as far as can see.

Kay took her dad to ER on Friday night again, was only a 3 1/2 hr visit, a new record.  He was released after a couple of tests and sent home.  Now waiting for the next occurance.

Trimmed a few more neighbor's bushes with the new pole chain saw, that really works great.

I'm going to make a run up to San Jose tomorrow for a couple of days and take care of a couple of tasks.  Be fun giving the El Camino a little run.

Take care all and have a great day.

You guys in Detroit and Philly be careful where you park!  Your on national TV.

Morning folks!

Sunny and seasonably warm yesterday and more on tap for today.

Had a nice day yesterday with some boating, dinner out, and a free concert downtown. There was a nice breeze so even though it was warm it was pleasant.

Have a great day all!

Good evening all,

Warm day again.  Watched "my" soccer girls score today....just not enough as they lost 5-2.   Watched a Premiere League match as well with Everton tying Wolverhampton (sp?) 2-2.  Had a nice meal at Chilis tonight after Mass.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' All !

Whew ! Got our electric bill, weren't cheap but less than I expected. Unfortunately the way August is going this month's bill will probably blow right by July's $$$ long before the month is over.

Went in to the museum yesterday but the BetterHalf had to come and get me about noon. The %^&^% hernia was absolutely killing me, couldn't sit, stand or anything in between. Really looking forward to the 28th for surgery to correct it and a couple of other problems it has caused.

Kev, I like to make a big skillet of SOS every once in a great while. I'm the only one who likes it. The only thing I don't like about making it is if you use the Hormel dried beef in the jar, here the jar has doubled in size from what it had been previously. Sometimes, since I'm the only one who likes the SOS, instead I'll make a big skillet of sausage gravey to go over biscuits. Dinner

Making myself hungry again !!!!!

Later All !

Roy, I hear you on the house projects these days.

70 heading to 90,,,dry!!!!

Cat never showed up last night. Sandra was calling him this morning,,,looked over at the shed and there he was in the window locked in the shed. He was glad to get out but I see had slept on the hood of the Colorado all night. Angry

Wife wants Sh!t on a Shingle for lunch.  Smile, Wink & Grin I have not made that in years. I don't think I have made it since the kids were still at home. Good evening all,

Life is back to normal sort of at home.  Turns out the modem went bad (could have shipped a new one over night and saved a lot of hassle).  Work has been unbelievably busy.  "Real" football starts this weekend with English Premiere League and "my" soccer girls having games on Saturday.  It has been hot in Hoosierland this week.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hey, (to late for good morning)

At least could see the sky today.  Yesterday, the smoke from the Holy fire was really thick!  And obviously the weather isn't cooperating, its been 90 and around 80%.  There were westerly winds most of the day and that brought the smoke along the coast line.  All you saw was this dark brown layer looking toward the South, and as far as I could see looking North toward the Palos Verde penninsula.  Probably a distance of 80 miles.  Then if looked up from the back yard is was totally dark.  I went out front and looked toward the San Gabriel mtns, and just as if it was a curtain you could see blue sky.  Now I just heard the smoke has drifted 1,000's of miles east and can be seen on the East Coast!

The fire itself has consumed 18,000 acres and is only 5% contained.

On a much brighter note, I spent a couple of hours yesterday in a marketing focus group.  I was invited to attend and get paid $150, for 2 hours participation.  The subject was Senior Assistance Living, specifically addressing how do you review and select a facility.  I believe it was sponsored by Joan London and her organization "Place for Mom".  After a open discussion they asked us to review a couple of commercials and critique them.  Pretty good, enjoyed the discussion.

Going to spend the day inside "chilling".

So have a great day and be safe!

Banks let the cat out of the bag.  Can't pull a trick on anyone.

Hello there,

biggest project today was preparing for Parish Festival. Using stakes and rope grandson, Mrs and I laid out the grass parking area. Tomorrow I'll wash the tractor and dig out some decent bales for on the wagon.  Hope the weather guessers are wrong. Supposed to have showers.

Mornin' Fellas

Day 3 of being a single parent. TheVPQ is in Boston doing another conference where she presents Tuesday - Friday. Last time she did this her company drumbed up a few contracts and her work with the government quadrupled... if that happens again she is going to be busier than a 1 armed lumberjack in a timber fall! Hoping her boss recognized everything she does and compensates her accordingly.

Fife - great news about 1309! Can't wait to see her done... btw - the build and move is on. Just have to find time to meet with a builder and giterdone.

Good morning,

73 now heading to the 90s with only 78% humidity, Yeah only78%!

Been so dry here that the dirt had pulled 3" to 4" away from the north side house foundation so I used a soaker hose to swell it back up. If we were to get a 3"+ rain in a blast it for sure would flood the basement wall with straight water and push hard to get inside. A trick I learned from my friends in North TX.  Huh?  But they don't have basements just foundation movement and cracking if to dry.

The soaker hose worked well and the dirt has swollen back up to the house. Even tested my sump pump install out so it all worked out good.

Speaking of old,,,8:40am and I just got up.  Laugh

We gave up and I am running the sprinklers today on the yard around the house.

The BIL only 35 miles to the northeast has had plenty of rain. Just seems to be missing us. Bang Head

Best move on.

Good Evening from a humid 77°F Southern Ohio,

I’m on nights and we still do not have the crane rail issue fix but they hope to get the defective bolts removed replaced and code inspected by tomorrow night.  Without a crane our work pretty well stops.  You can only do so much cleaning.

When I got up Gabriel took me to the train room and after I left for work he finished laying the track on the layout and came up with an idea that really is neat.  I’m excited that he is taking an interest in the building of the layout.  He remembers well playing on the old layout 10 years ago when he was 4 before we had to take it down for his bedroom in our old house.

I went downtown after getting up around 1:30 pm and picked up some pieces of nice used 3 rail track to finish the outer loop at a little hardware store my friend runs that dabbles in old used toy train parts, some wall anchors for the glass shelves then picked up a solid old chair at one of the antique stores for $8 to paint for the basement bedroom.  It will need to be de-glossed first so I’ll get some acetone on the way home in the morning.

I’ve never been over at the OGR site, but it does not sound as if the company would be a gracious as it is here at the Pot.

Doug - I was seriously thinking about getting goats to reclaim the grown over areas I ending up doing by hand.  There is a large piece of land adjacent to mine that has kudzu going like crazy and if I’d get that property I’d go with goats to clean it up.

Banks - I guess I’ll stick with the little push mower and baseball cleats, or goats.

I’d better go check on the guys.  Good night and may God bless

 Jim

Evening All!

A little rainy here. Hopefully, it will knock the humidity a bit.

Thanks for clearing up a few things for us Bob! Nice to see you post. For the record, the OGR post is now at 156. Seems to be quite the conversation. There is naturally going to be comparsion between the two magazines. I'm not sure it's necessarily been a CTT bash session, though. Most folks are saying the same things that have been said on this very forum. Well, until the thread got locked.....

DougDG/Buckeye - Yes, Brasseurs is great to deal with for parts. I'm close enough to drive and Dean and the gang have been very helpful.

Rich - Congrats on the car show. Mopar and Ford, huh? Hmmm........ Big Smile

Have a good one and prayers.

Boy-oh-boy, what a difference a day makes, a cold front must have come thru. It's only 102* today, best get ready to get out the winter clothes.

I used to be a real coffee-holic before the heart attack, but Monday afternoon on the way home after my ct we passed by a Starbucks. The drive-thru had eight cars lined up waiting to go thru and it was only 105*.

Buckeye, I've been using Brasseurs for years for repairs and parts. Has the senior Brasseur come home after joining Mike R in the parts/repair dept at Lionel ?

No earthshaking news on the train front. Finally located a part for a Hudson Jr after Lionel didn't carry it, they referr you to North Lima Trainworks but I got no response from them. Did a google for the part# and found them at Brasseurs. Bow Good place to deal with. Got a couple of others to get repaired but not in any great rush.

Brasseurs near Saginaw, Michigan is my go to place for K-Line repairs and parts. Thumbs Up

Hola !

Banks, Saw this story and immediately thought of you.

Vermont's capital city is trying a natural way to get rid of poison ivy — grazing goats.

On Wednesday, three goats munched on the plants along the small city's bike path behind the high school.

Goat owner Mary Beth Herbert, of Moretown, says the goats graze on the poison ivy, causing stress to the plants so that they retreat. She says it will take years of cyclical grazing to eradicate the poison ivy.

Got some good news and some that isn't as good as we had hoped for. First the good news, I have finally gotten approval from all the powers to be that I get my hernia repair surgery later this month. Had they not screwed around for almost a year on this it would have been a much simpler repair and a lot less invasive. Bang Head Went in for my regularly scheduled CT, the bad news is that the RCC tumor has increased in size but if you consider this as being not so bad the increase was VERY SMALL. Sigh Will be visiting my oncologist in a couple of weeks and I'm sure we will be discussing possible changes/options to my treatment plans.

Afternoon all!

Storms on the doorstep! Windy! Front approaches...

Took a nice boat ride last night.

Fife - that's great things are going well at the RR! It will be something if they get that articulated running! Maybe that is why UP is refurbishing the Big Boy? Want to keep claim to largest operating steamer?

Morning all.

Bob we need to hear from you over at other forum

OGR the way I see it,is there mainly in the 6 figure income and have nothing better to do than buy and brag about the expensive trains they bought. I would also say most the stuff they sell there looking close to cost. Most also say like new very little use or no use etc, etc.

Of coarse there a few exceptions, as in every case. There are some there that will jump right in and give you some sound advice

But Bob if you noticed there some now are crying/bashing golden gate I think is for the price increase they had to do to get and make avaialble the ERR products. There never happy. What GG isn't saying thou, I could almost guarentee, there also still have to pay Lionel a royalty fee on the products it sell to the public.

Well no news for today

Keep on training all
