Watched the Indy race earlier and NASCAR right now.

Hello there,

Altoona show this morning. Got a Prewar 1680 Shell tank car, a late 50s HO Revell box car and a HO Plastic villa 2 story house with box. All for less than $30 including admission.

Had hoped to hang at the show long enough to shake Fife's hand. The home called. They sent Mom to the ER. She had a long unreponsive spell followed by bad nose bleed, low blood pressure, low O2 level.  Doc was really concerned when I got there. They got the bleeding stopped and levels up and admitted her to try to figure out the cause.

More as I get updates

Bed soon

Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,

Promising race went to the thunder.  Tony K got punted on the first lap, but he did come back for an 11th place finish.  Leist started well but had some mechanical issues, lost 10 laps and then crashed.  Ugh.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good evening all, Kev, sorry to hear about all the legal problems.  Hard to believe what some people will do.

Got some much needed rain last night.  Went to TTOS train meet in Arcadia today.  Saw Don's friend Bob and my two train buddies, Larry and Bob W.  Did not buy but sat through some of the auction.  Looked like some good buys today.  Some good standard gauge went cheap.

Fixed some ham and cabbage for dinner with taters.  That was good.  Talked with sister in Connecticut.  She says her daughters dog died.  Hard for her I guess.  He was pretty old.

More rain forcast for next week.  Have a senior dinner on Tuesday and will have to transport my friend to the doctor in the afternoon.  He is grounded on driving for a while.

Don, glad to hear you had sucess with the bullfrog snot.  I still have some if I can unharden it with water.

Mornin' boys.  30 with a shaker of snohizo along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Hope to get a haircut before heading into office this morning.

Like Banksie said, we just missed each other at the Blair County train show yesterday.  Continued prayers to you, sir.  Show itself was decent.  Picked up some AF parts, and 2 Hawthorne Village buildings (Civil War collection).  For the second straight trip, the ladies didn't want to visit Horseshoe Curve.  They made me go to Outback and consume Foster's instead.

Chief - Did the DNA folks discover a lot of Eagles in that tree...?

Are you kidding!!!!  Bet that will never happen.  Been a long road with a lot of changes.

For about two years I have been collecting freight cars that you might see in Alaska.

Because you live in a state that has the same weather.

Here ya go!

Let me remind you how bad this software is.  The original 14 years ago was ten times better.  Had to post and then edit to get out of the "quote".

Rainy and cold.  May have some snohio flakes later.

Not much on agenda.

Prayers for Donna and Banks' Mom.

Enjoy the day.

Happy Monday!!

WGH show at Edison was great, made a contact from Lionel for a custom run of Fire Fighter cars as a benefit for the FD....more as it develops - these will be US made and delivery by Christmas, we hope

Drama free weekend - spent Sunday with the Princess, lunch and house cleaning done, all and all finally a decent weekend - just need the weather to be better.

Prayers for your Mom, Banks

Prayers for Donna

Kev - that sucks....I'm the executor for my parents, 5 kids total and I'm the oldest.  I've seen what happens with wills and such in my family - greed takes over.....

Yes, the software is horrible.....

Buckeye don't hold your breath waiting for that free gift. After years of MR and then CTT I couldn't even get a free badge from Bob at York. They use to be free but I guess they decided to sell what was left. I did get a cookie from his assistant...:)

Buckeye,, Nice train!!!  What is the part number and maker of that Alaska caboose? I would like to add that to my Alaska train. Looks way better than my old Lionel 6-16523 from 1990.  Smile

Hello there,

thanks for praying for Mom. She's about the same today. The hospital is grasping at straws as to what caused all this. My faith in this hospital has reached an all time low.

Best try to sleep.

Got word about my brother in Va. with kidney cancer. The Immunotheraphy is not working and the cancer is becoming more agressive.  They are starting conventional chemo and radiation now.  He has an appointment tomorrow but the roads are covered with snow.  Forcast is for around 50 at noon and his appointment is in the afternoon.  Good night all,

Ray

Tuesday is seniors day at two of our local community recycling stores. I will get 30% off all purchases. Once again I'll be looking for RC vehicles to take apart and use in my O-scale models. Another east coast winter storm is on its way so got to get moving. Have a great day everyone.

Morning All!

Quick pop in on lunch. The white stuff is still lingering.

I'm 75% Irish, 20% Scottish and 5% Gibberish!! Big Smile I always get a kick out of folks pretending to be "Irish" on St. Patrick's Day with the green beer, etc. I'll stick to my Kilkenny, Caffrey's or Smithwicks (pronounced Smith'icks) thanks. I'm just waiting for next thing to be "offended" by is portraying us Irish as a bunch of drunks.....

Buckeye - Nice video. I think you need to treat yourself to a nice Alaska SD70 to pull that train. Retirement gift, perhaps?

Banks - Prayers for your mom.

Ray - Prayers for your brother.

Rich - I'll be in for one of the FD cars for sure!

Spank - Just 4"? That's still good grilling weather!! Big Smile

Have a good one.

Kevin, The Alaskan Caboose is MTH.  I believe they are still available.  Check with Clyde at Stockyard Express.  He has a huge selction of MTH in stock and a special caboose section.

Rob, I have been waiting for Lionel to make an Alaskan Railroad Diesel in Lionchief Plus.  This way the grandsons can run it very easily. It was one great ride! If you have not been to Alaska, GO! Wow

Good evening,

Where is the time going? I cannot believe March is almost half over and we reset the clocks. Last week I was on the road to Japan and Hawaii for work. I left on Sunday and returned home Friday.  I was quite tired but had plenty of chores to do over the weekend.  This week is flying by and I still have plenty to do at work and around the house.  I hope everyone is doing well.

Good evening all,

I am quite partial to the Alaska theme myself.  Colors on the train remind me of the Hoosier state flag.  Busy day this morning, not so much in the afternoon.  Weather was nasty for walk today, but made it to and from work ok.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hello there.

Crashed last night without posting.

Mom returned to the home yesterday. No diagnosis from the hospital. My opinion is she was severely dehydrated. I will discuss this with the home.

Lots going on today. Gastrointestinal doc, chiropractor ( PT guy says it'll do me good ) and a viewing. Found out Saturday that a 2nd cousin same age as me had lost his battle with cancer. Didn't even know he was sick.

Best move on.

I tried to post on the Planters Peanut thread here but it took so long for the reply box to appear I thought I had screwed up my computer and gave up in dispair.

The Planters turned scrap iron hopper is now running around the O guage track at Maritime Hobbies and Crafts in Halifax, NS. I loaned it to them for awhile. With it's full load of real metal and low centre of mass, it runs smooth! DJ

Afternoon All!

Old Man Winter isn't letting go this year! Another round for our friends on the East Coast.

Buckeye - Yes, Alaska is definitely on the bucket list. My folks went this past summer and did both the Alaska and White Pass & Yukon train trips. Like you, he took some fantasic pictures and he's now an Alaska fan for life. The multi-purpose railway/highway tunnel near Whittier looks interesting.....

Spank - I resemble that too! Laugh

Joe - Jet setting aside, how's the layout planning coming along?

Have a good one and prayers.

Rob,  Ten years ago I worked for the company that did the enlargement of the Whittier Tunnel. I did not work on the Whittier tunnel, but I worked on one in Kentucky.

This is a real good video taken from the locomotive of the trip from Whittier north through the tunnel on the way to Anchorage and Denali.  Just after the train departs there is a cruise ship on the right and a set of canopies along the track where the cruise passengers board the train for the ride.

Evening all!

70 today, sunny, and more of the same tomorrow!!!

I have driven both ways through the Whittier tunnel. And Whittier is a beautiful place! If you hold your speed right, the car tires will track the railroad rails and you can let go of the steering wheel! Cars and trains alternate through the tunnel.

Good evening all,

The temperature hit the low-40s here today and it was partly cloudy. I believe it will be in the 50s tomorrow. It's time to enjoy some wine now.

Rob - This past weekend I was able to lay out my track on the floor to ensure the plan I will use will work. I had to squeeze a couple of pieces and have one S curve, but my largest loco and one longer car ran on it just fine. Hopefully by this weekend I can sketch out my benchwork plans.

Good night,

Joe
