This is a quick post before bed. Yesterday after work, the wife and I drove to PA for a quick visit with the family. We only spent one night and returned this evening. We had corn beef and cabbage for dinner tonight. There have been some nice upsets in the NCAA tournament; did not see VA losing. I am hoping for a relaxing day tomorrow.

Going to be better today, mid 50s with full sun. Forgot I had a DR apt on the 20th and never did the blood work. Guess I will have to give them a call.

Great day today, spring teaser. Got to the high 50s here. Spent most of the day outside. Washed the Colorado, Ranger, Gator, 3203 JD tractor, and the grand-kids dirt bike. Washed the shed floor and the apron then washed the snow plow and moved it to the house garage till it is next needed. The cat hung out with me most of the day and I think he is happier than me it is finally warming up.

The day started cloudy and 60's - then the sun popped out late afternoon and we hit low 70's. Nice enough we grilled out chicken and brats for the family Sunday dinner. We got a nice rain yesterday and into the evening.
Washed the Tahoe - think I last washed it in October.
Well Harvick sort of took himself out in today's race, so no 4 in a row. Truex has reemerged...

Aj's heyday was when drivers of different sports could and would compete in other forms of racing on a regular basis. Dan Gurney and Jim Clark would race stock cars and some of the NASCAR boys would run Indy as well. Now, not so much. It would have been nice to see how AJ would have done in a full season with the #21, but Indycar was always his first choice. Chief, when the US Women win another World Cup, come talk to me about the Un-American sport Did another practice walk today. Thought it was supposed to get easier. Not so much. A 3:31:21 was for a 3.7+ MPH average, and I felt dead afterwards. Ugh. I hope everyone has a good day.

Today's weather was nice: sunny and a high in the mid-50s. We went to Sunday school and then church this morning. Afterwards, we ate lunch out and then it was home to take care of some house chores. I was able to hang the last train display shelf but nothing else train related was accomplished. However, I did receive the latest issue of CTT (digital edition) and it looks like another nice issue. I will not spoil it for any of you hard copy readers. It is time for bed now; this weekend went too fast.
Wake UP Sleepy Heads it's Monday morning.

Celebrated St. Pat's day with the xGF at Spirito's in the Italian section of Elizabeth, NJ, a nice big antipasto, sausage pizza and home made ravioli. Yes, St. Patrick and the patron saint of firefighters, St. Florian were of Roman ancestry.....lol!
Installed the new to me rug on the other side of my train attic vacuumed and re-arraigned the contents there of. Ran trains with no pile ups!! However, my Southern 0-8-0 blew a tire so, I packed it up back in the box, broke out my LionChief CNJ CamelBack and proceded to smoke out the train attic. Pulls beautifully and smokes like nobodys business.....

Feelin' a bit better, week before last went in for a couple of liters of IV followed two days later with two units of blood. Helped quite a bit, brought the BP up from low 70's over low 40's to a more respectable mid 90's over mid 50's. Dehydration really plays heck with everything, oncologist made some changes in the drugs so hopefully that will help with the sideeffcts.
Banks_ The Oaks have been one of my favorites for a long time, along with the Statlers as well. For our daughter's wedding reception I had the DJ play the Oaks "Thank God For Kids" for the father/daughter dance. Prayers for your misses.
Rich_Had a chuckle on the way to a doctor visit, cruising down the freeway a Charger blew by us, and I just loved his license plate. "IMAHEMI", of course it was in the old style Caly black & yellow plate lettering.
Weather guessers are in a dither about a new storm coming in later in the week. We shall see.

P.S._You all should get a chuckle out of this. The cancer drugs have essentially killed my taste buds, however I have found one food that I can still taste: SCRAPPLE !

Long day, right at 12 hours since I left this morning. Just got home about an hour ago. Grandson fell sick yesterday so I was elected to be care taker for today. I was going to bring him home but when I got there it seemed better to just hang out and watch Gunsmoke and Fast and Loud with him all day. No reason to add another 80 mile round trip to an already 80 mile round trip.
The boy is doing better but way off normal.
So yesterday I buy a youth helmet off the bay for the boy to use with the new to him dirt bike and today my neighbor Butch, the guy I got the bike from calls and said hey Kev, I found a bunch of helmets, boots and all the other gear I will bring over tomorrow if you want it.
Got to eat and chill.

You right Mike about swapping tracks and cars in the old days. Not many do it today and when they do it don't seem to work out for them. Tony Stewart did it the best of late.

Busier day than expected but mostly turned out ok. Life could get interesting for the morning commute or I might just stay home. Izombie was good tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
It was partly sunny and the high reached 55. I spent the entire workday inside so I did not get to enjoy it. The wife made breakfast for dinner: fried eggs, bacon, sausage, and almond flour pancakes with berries or chocolate chips. I ate way too much. I started to sketch some benchwork ideas but I am torn between using 1 x 4s or ripped plywood for the framing. I don't need it to be substantial as I will not be on top of it and I would not mind keeping the cost down. The other decision is whether to use traditional legs or cantilever from the wall. These are truly first-world problems.
Dougdagrump - I am glad you can still enjoy that delicious Scrapple. I had some a few weeks ago and realized I still like it a lot. I will be praying for you.

Actually will feel good to be away from the RR for a few days. Gonna work on my own, since I promissed the grandson I would finish the high line. Also purchased a sheet of thick foam board for my cliffside scenery.
Demay - Use the 1x4's for sure, but if you buy them from Lowe's don't leave them laying around before building. Their wood ain't "dry". I have enjoyed using the 2'x4' pre-cut sheets of Luann plywood; just plain easier.

Good morning on the first day of spring!
Wife and I have three big things to be thankful for today.
1. It is the first day of spring and the cold shall go away.
2. 30 years ago, today March 20th 1988 our daughter Katherine Mia Myers was born into this world and she has been bringing the first day of spring to us every day since.
3. It is election day so after today we may get a few months off from all the political adds and junk mail.

Freezing rain hit us today and I stayed home. Not worth my neck trying to fight with it. Worked on taxes. Mostly done. Supposed to get more Shohio tonight. Could do without it. May stay home Wednesday as well. I hope everyone has a good day.

We are waiting for the snow, but so far it has only been some rain and rain/sleet mix. The schools are already cancelled for tomorrow. I will probably telework. Although the weather was bad, I still grilled pork tenderloin for dinner. I am sure my neighbors think I'm nuts. I hope you more northern folks handle the storm safely.
V8/Fife - Thanks for the input. The luanne plywood seems like a good option since Home Depot will cut it for me. One sheet will net me many usable pieces. I think the plywood will have less risk of warping. I find it difficult to find straight 1 x 2s, 3s, and 4s at Home Depot and Lowe's.

been an interesting couple of days. The Oak Ridge Boys put on a great show. Many old standbys and a couple from their new album. (We listened to it the whole way home)
About 330 AM Sunday a bed bug was discovered crawling on Mrs.. Verified identity via phone as I'd never seen one. Long story short not much sleep the rest of the night. Desk person said manager would contact us. Never happened. No reply from email to corporate yet. Generally really pissed.
Sunday I visited the Strasburg Train Store. Got a hard to find 60s Mantua flat car in great condition at a decent price. Later some outlet shopping. Sunday evening was spent doing bed bug prevention with all our stuff.
Yesterday afternoon a bug got me. Felt like crap and lived on the toilet . .
Best try to sleep.

Morning. Light snow just started. Too warm to stick. Busy day. Off to HS and then a 200 Club luncheon that helps with finances of fallen first responders. We pay $200 a year to belong. Fund has finally mushroomed. Now doing scholarships for their kids. Then babysit Grands late this afternoon and maybe night. Frankie and Lea on special duty incase of a show down at Capital.Later.

Aloha. Sunny but still cold - at least no snow on the horizon. I drove three hours down to Bloomington to support one of my staff who was giving his doctoral dissertation presentation yesterday - I'm glad I went - on the three hours long trip back, i foolishly almost ran out of gas in the wilderness that is western Illinois along I-39 but I miraculously made it to civilization in time. The Chicago River is still green... Hope the snows out east vanish soon.

Demay - Lowe's stocks pre-cut 2'x4' sheets of Luann. Easy to handle. Easy to load in the Yugo. Easy to work with on the benchwork. Voila! They also have pressure treated 1x1's that make great benchwork legs. Again, check for straightness.

You are right DougM there is not much along I-39 from Bloomington to I-80. I drove that many times when I was doing a project in Bloomington and headquartered out of Morton but living here Off I-80 north of Marseilles.
Looks like big money and the Chicago machine took the day yesterday here in IL.
You guys with all the tooth problems got me: Last night I was eating a pretzel rod before bed and on the last bite broke the whole side of my second molar on the bottom left off. So I guess a trip to the dentist today or asap to see what that is going to take to fix. The thing was full of fillings and needed a crown anyway but my INS pays nothing for crowns and only pays up to $750 a year so most if not all will be out of the pocket.
Chief, they call it technically impaired.
yesterday we got about 4 inchs on the grass. Bout an 1 inch on the driveway. Several more over night and still snowing. Mrs is closed. I have a cardio doc appt at 3 followed by a viewing for Mrs cousin. He was 85. When it rains it pours.
Demay...I've been buying wood lately for some projects. Home Depot wood is way better. Also found small locally owned has better yet.
Don. ...good luck with the in laws. Living next door to my folks made keeping an eye on them easier. Moved in with Mom when Dad passed. Almost 3 years later I got her in a home. She continues to decline but I don't have to deal with her daily.
Re.... bed bugs. I after some quick research I checked all the recommended places to look, even pulled off the mattress cover and found no other signs of them.

Kev, those tooth problems must be contagious. Yesterday I went to dentist to check out a tooth that was hurting a little. Xray showed the whole thing practically is rotted out underneath a crown. They wanted to pull it right away and then work on redoing my upper partial since that was the anchor tooth. They wanted to put me to sleep to pull the tooth. I don't know why. Never had to before. The want to send me to an "oral surgeon" in case there are complications I guess. My local guy said it might break off if he did it. On top of all this I have a mercy trip coming up on April 8th to see two of my siblings who are dying with stage 4 cancer. I'm thinking I will try and wait until I get back to do all this dental work if I can. They gave me some antibiotics in the meantime in case it gets infected. I'm really between a rock and a hard place. I just spent about 2400 bucks to safe another tooth on the bottom. This is getting old fast.
