Good afternoon all,

Beautiful weather again today.  It's 86 with low humidity and feels great.  Not much train news here.  Haven't run them for a while.  Did get my York badge and after York I will get the urge.  Have been volunteering at the RR Museum of PA every Tuesday and we have been getting nice crowds, lots of grandparents with grandkids and young families.  Love to talk with them all but especially the kids.

On my other hobby, visited a gunshop today & bought myself a new toy.  Will try that out Monday.

Don B.,  How are York plans coming along?

Roy,  are you going to make it this fall?

We have a picnic to go to in Gettysburg tomorrow and another in Etters, PA on Saturday.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.

Evening all!

Hot one today but cooled off decently this evening.

Don - I wish, but that is not in the cards, the wife's cards that is.

John F - I sure hope to make it to York. We have a lot of projects on the books again this fall so it will be tight.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Disaster of a day.  Nothing major accomplished at work.  Weather very warm.   Boys game cancelled.  Girls should have been as they lost 11-0.  Ouch!   Went to pick up for wedding after calling to check that it was there.  Tux not there...."on the truck...."   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Morning from foggy Southern Ohio,

TGIF!  My new job has me working 4 ten hour days and it is a great schedule, and I get Fridays off.

The Jr. High Football team I help coach had our first regular season game yesterday evening and we lost 20-12.  Gabriel starts at offensive guard and defensive end, and Felicity is on the cheerleader squad.  Simple mistakes killed us.

Fife - I hope the offer comes through

John - Does the new toy go “BANG”?

Bob - The Corvan is getting all sorts of upgrades.  The Iowa was one of the stops on the tour Don took us on when Gabriel and I visited this past summer.  Very impressive!!!

Don - Are you going to move the new painting to the train room, although the bathroom idea is a hoot.  Your trip sounds like it is one my bride would enjoy.

Fife & Brent - having attractive daughters (and now granddaughters) has it’s challenges for sure.  Being tapped into the school where they go by coaching and my bride being the school nurse helps but does not make up for us dads being present in their lives.  I’m doing things different this time around.

Kev - Heal well my friend.  I understand wanting to stay active to get stuff done and encourage healing just be careful.  Maybe the doc can hit somewhere in between no pain killers and what they are currently offering?

Time to get going

May God bless,

Jim

dbaker - Packing in preparation.  Not a done deal.

submmbob - Might save the Cumberland viaduct, but that would be it.  I's like to set something up to showcase a couple of postwar K4s I have on hand.Smile, Wink & GrinSmile, Wink & Grin

88 - best get here soon....Time

Let me check with the calendar coordinator... when are you starting the process? We could do one last run and then I could help you start? Just made reservations to take the family and Poppop to Medeviel Times this Saturday, maybe Saturday morning or Sunday?

Thanks Phish, I have been working on a new plan. The Alive PM I tried last night did not do it. I am off everything now but the pain keeps me up. I can push it out during the day.  Did get a spot or two of sleep, then at 2 AM the power went out. So I stumbled around in the dark fired up the gen set and went back to bed. Power came back on about 4 AM so I shut everything off and tried again. Got a few winks in but not enough. Going for a second opinion Sept 1.

Right now it is sunny but more rain is on the way. Had 1.8" in the gauge yesterday.

Daughter said they will be moved in by Sunday.

I have been running trains some. I sure do like that 616 Flying Yankee set.

Have a good one everyone.

Hello all

Got some rain last night on the mountain. Looks like the sun is starting to peek thru this morning.

Got a British film crew coming thru in a bit. Met them taking pictures while I was hiking on the access road last night.

JimS - since the Corvan is a regular driver for me and eventually a camper, I try and make a few improvements that make it more 'drivable'. My goal is to keep it looking as original as possible w/ any major visible additions being something that would have been done when it was relatively new.

I spent a weekend working on the USS Iowa when it was docked in Richmond, CA being prepared for the move to San Pedro. Wow, is all I can say.

Fife - love the look of those chunky 2025's and 2035's:)

Will head home in the early afternoon. Hopefully will get the Datsun up and running again in the morning and then some more progress on the motorhome Sat afternoon/evening and Sun. On Monday between appointments and meetings, we are going to take another stab at starting the 8V-71 Detroit in the '75 Flxible bus.

Phish, I certainly hope so.   Will find out Monday.

Had a great day, picnic was a lot of fun.  About 30 people with enough food for 60 easily.  Weather was warm but mostly overcast, so not to bad.

Don't have a lot to add, so off to bed.

Good evening all,

Fairly good day at work.  Weather not terribly bad for walk.  Got tux tonight.  I can breathe in it.  Rehearsal dinner went ok.   Food good.   Got latest CTT today.  Nice standard gauge layout.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning ,

70 and it rained Storm all night but at least I slept for 10 hours even though it was induced sleep. Zzz

I took all three pills for the first time in a week and three small glasses of red wine. So a bit in the cloud this AM. So no pills today. Wife gets up we will head to Katie's to see the progress on the move into their new place.

Wonder if Rich ever got moved in?  Huh?

The other night when the power went was the first time the back-up ejector pump I put in last year paid off.

The water softener was in a cycle at 2:00am when the power failed so it drained off all of the water pressure from the pressure tank through the softener into the pit and the battery back-up saved me from what would of been another flooded basement. Yes

Prayers for all those who have been hit by wind, rain, fire and the earth shaking. Angel

Afternoon.  Passing through.  Been a real busy week.  Actually worked this AM.  Coordinated free delivery of big rocks to HS.  One to block kids driving around the emergency vehicle gates.  Second one is flat so kids can paint it up.

Rain in the Chicagoland area today - I still have not had to water my lawn once this year (or last year).

dbaker48: interesting re: the THUMS Islands.  I spent a fair amount of time consulting in SoCal for another oil major and never knew about them.  I seem to remember seeing them when I stayed in Long Beach a few times.  I grew kinda fond of staying in Huntington Beach instead...

KRM: Had never thought about the "what if" of our softener running a cycle when the power goes out.  Will need to keep that in mind in the future.

Cute moment of the day: Noah asked me about my wife's engagement ring.  "I gave that to mom so she would marry me."

Hello all,

The trip to San Antonio went well.  The first week there it was over 100 almost every day.  The second week it rained almost every day.  I returned home last Sunday but I have been too busy catching up on work and house chores to post.  The past couple of days here it has been in the low to mid 90s.  It is awful because houses in Germany do not have air conditioning.  Have a great day everyone and I will catch up more tomorrow.

Hey all!

Another hot one today with humidity making the 93/94 feel like 100+. Same on tap for next week or so.

Door contractor looked at the porch a second time on my request and he found an issue not originally anticipated so I am having to redo all the framing/ trim. Did I mention it was hot? Have a couple of turbine fans running on me. Will take me into next week to finish it up.

Happy B-Day G-Bear!

Dennis - really good surveyers! When I worked in Sydney years ago I spent quite a bit of time at the Sydney Harbor Bridge museum. Cool place. When they built it and needed to link the first arch, the engineers calculated the heat load that would expand the steel. They waited until the right time of day and inserted the pin when the two holes lined up. Another tidbit. To test the new bridge under load they parked a bunch of loaded steam locomotives on temporary tracks.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Happy Birthday, G-Bear!   Weather hot for wedding today, but Lucas is married.  The ceremony was nice and short.  Food was good at reception, but noone stayed for the dance as everybody had to get home.   Reffed a U-10 blowout this AM with the score being 11-0.  "My" soccer girls got hammered 9-0 by a team they tied 1-1 last year.   Was hoping it could be a good season, but it looks like it could be dreadfully long.  Rahal won Indy car race as AJ's team had another horrible evening.   Not too much on the plus side sports wise today.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' boys.  Muggy in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Last load of Fifey-whities in the dryer.  Gotta get outside and hose down the "grounds".  I like to imagine I'm spraying the terf at Camden Yards.  Speaking of, my birdies seem to be spiralin' out of contention.  My other birdies did beat up on Granny's kittys.  Want to get down to yatchett, but might be a better day to stay cool and watch NASCAR.

My cousin is very interested in the layout for his little boy, and will be stopping by some time this week to measure the original section to make sure it will fit in the space he has in mind.

GBear ---> Cake.  Hurry up and blow out those candles before the national media catches wind of another CA "wild-fire"...

Speaking of bears, wonder how Laz's bear is holding up these days...?

Stay foamy. Pirate

Hi all,

We had a nice Sunday and fortunately it only 88 degrees.  It should be cooler the next few days.  I spent the day reading comic books, talking to family in the US, and helping the older two kids get ready for the first day of school tomorrow.

Happy Birthday G-Bear!

I guess that means it's too late for me to say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY G BEARCake  Hope you enjoyed your day.

KRM, I never gave the deal with the water softener a thought.  I could have the same situation, even though I have an emergency generator, but because the well pump is on the generator, but the softener is not.  It would just keep running water straight though until we realized the sump pump (also on the generator) was running way too much.  Thanks for the tip, I'll have to see what I have to do to add it.  Not much load involved so that isn't an issue.

Hope everyone has a great week.
