Good evening all,
Wound up reffing a U-10 game today. Could have done 2, but thought scrimmage game for soccer girls would start at 11. Did not start until noon. Slightly ticked. Rested some this afternoon and then sprayed weeds behind barn again. Watched Indy 11 squeak out another win 1-0. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Morning all,
Phish - the truck is a 2wd extended cab w/rear seat wing doors with full bed. It has been one of the most reliable vehicles I have ever owned. Tires and batteries.
100's to continue until mid-week. Then we cool off to 98/99! 102 today.
I'll beat the heat today with some indoor chores, NASCAR, & Olympics.
Regards, Roy
Good morning,
Going to be a nice day, no plans but to chillout like Roy. Feeling better every day now. 72 heading to 80 for a high.
Just took a short walk. Feel good walking sitting on the Gator seat,,,,not so much.
Have a good one!!

Well my indoor plan changed. Found a broken lawn sprinkler line on north side of house. When you have lawn sprinklers one learns to do weekly surveys of the system. Soooo....since there was a bit of shade I broke out the shovel and my large stock of sprinkler system parts. Dug a 3' trench and found the break which as usual was a broken riser plastic pipe, not the main line. Suspect yard guy stepped on it as the head was just below the turf. Fixed now but will wait until this evening to fill in the trench. It was 100 in the shade when I finished.
Now I can justify relaxing indoors
Oh, I hear a lime and a Corona Light calling for me
Hello all
Warm and humd today in the Ol' Pueblo after the rain we had last night.
Fortunately most of todays efforts will be inside.
Yesterday we moved the Tacoma Twin Coach bus from the Broadway storage yard to the barn. I replaced the brake valve w/ a spare we had, which was somewhat entertaining because out of three different brake valves I looked at they all had slightly different port arrangements. The system uses copper pipe, but getting things aligned just so that the compression threads will start while working overhand lying on 3" gravel is kind of a pain. Once we got her hooked up to the tow vehicle the system checked out and off we went. I'm driving the Twin trying to keep the tow bar in alignment and acting as brakes for the whole outfit. Obviously we took it slow and as many side streets as possible. Except for the old tires, the bus rode and steered fairly well for something that is 68 years old and weighs 20K pounds.
Worked on putting hinges on my old carpenters chest lat night. Today I got a hasp so I can lock it up down at the barn. Wll move that out today. Then do a little more work on the motorhome.

Went to last Sunday mass in old church building. Worked on several yard projects today. Watched some old Buffy episodes. Read about typical NFL treatment of fans. Tell players game is canceled at 6:45 due to field conditions, but don't bother to tell fans until 8 PM. Go figure. Weather cooler today. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good Morning from beautiful 66°F Southern Ohio,
Drove the truck into work today to let the beast stretch her legs, and fuel was $2 a gal so I filled up. After Mass yesterday Gabriel picked two of the best looking broiler chickens and he gave them another bath and we took them out to the fair. Judging will be today. His chickens were not the largest, but they were clean! Looking at the competition he may have a shot at placing. A lot depends on how he does with the interaction with the judge and his response in the interview.
Bob – the bus project really sounds neat. I’m trying to picture what your bus looks like. Oh, I got the smoke working on the 295. The wick was dry so I expect it to get better smoke as it becomes more saturated. Now I’m learning the wiring diagram for the air chime whistle. I think I have a controller, somewhere.
Mike – the high school AD said we had to complete some online training called the fundamental of coaching. I guess it is some regulation that was over looked. Have you heard of this before?
Roy – The reason I ask is the full size GM 4WD transfer case has a defect called pump rub where the wiggle of the transfer case hydraulic fluid pump wears a hole in the transfer case and it is hard to detect because the hole is typically on top of the transfer case and only leaks when the vehicle is in motion. Often the first indication is low/no transfer case fluid, or transfer case failure.
Kev – Glad you’re feeling better. Going to continue prayers for you, be careful not to overdue it now you are feeling better.
May God bless
Jim
Mornin' fellasHad a nice visit with my niece and her boyfriend over the weekend. Was nice to see them and catch up (she doesn't call because she only uses her phone for texting and I don't like texting). They're in college still and he has been working for Sprint for about a year, well they started messing with their pay and commissions so he took a job with AT&T, really likes it and was a top tier salesman for Sprint. Got the low-down on the wireless industry, and may be switching to AT&T when my contract is up with Verizon. He just traded in his 1991 Ford Ranger on a 2007 Dodge Dart with the 1.4L Turbo 4. He was asking about everything related to engines and how to reduce turbo lag... got me to thinking about JimmyT and I log in today and who showed up over the weekend! Fife - need offers... not viewings... keep me posted.Oh - seems the train garden is going to become a priority soon.

Aloha. Another nice summer day in downtown Chicago. Spent the weekend cutting back brush, reading and watching the Olympics. Just finished my 150th book of the year - thank you local public library and 3 hour daily commute. MikeC, I'm glad you like the Illinois Railway Museum. I'm fortunate it's only 15 minutes away so visit them often. As Roy said, there's lots of nice item stuffed all over the place. They have five webcams - including one of the inside of the tower Roy toured. See http://www.irm.org
Welcome Robmcc!
Fife, a Bristol 22 would be the perfect boat... I was jealous of a sailboat auction at a Cheaspeake Bay gathering over the weekend. They had many inexpensive small boats in great condition.Kev, Sandra sure has a wonderful garden.Penny, I am envious of your Indians. They had a great series against my Sox last week.

I have automatic sprinklers under some ground cover plants on the parkway in front of the house that sprung a leak.. Turns out that old galvanized pipe finally gave out. However to repair or replace I will have to dig up the whole flower bed. For now I'm just watering by hand. My main yard rain birds are on the same line so now everything has to be done with temporary measures. I'm not motivated enought to fix it yet beause of drought restrictions on water. Lawn is barely alive and stuff on parkway looks dead. Just got a report from Tru Green company that fertilizes the yard. They said we recommend more water. Duh! Brilliant!

fifedog Just wait 'til your children have to be texted to come to dinner...
With us it was a big bell on a 4x4 post.
With our boy it was the "pager", Remember them? The daughter it was a Cell phone thing that you could talk into.
PT was rough today but then I guess that is what it should be.
Putting mud on the patch in the basement steps wall. What a pain in the rear. Wish I knew what I was doing. No wonder we let those people cross the boarder to do this work. A lot like working BONDO and I don't like that either!
Maybe one more coat and I will have it??? See the problem is that the original drywall was glued and screwed. When Mark cut out the place to patch he removed the glue from the studs and then when he put the patch in place it was about an 1/8" lower than the original board because we used no glue. The patch is about 12"x16" and it all has to be raised to the same height.
Doug is right!! Boy nice day today but starting tomorrow we are to get August weather. HOT!
Afternoon all!
Dennis and Ray, yes it is good that sprinkler parts are cheap. Every couple of visits to HD or Lowes I grab some heads and risers So when something breaks I always have the parts on hand. When I went to a lawn mowing service i switched from the soft cut to fit risers to the fixed length plastic pipe risers. The soft ones broke all the time from lawn guy stepping on them.
Getting a couple of new front tires for the pickup. outdoor temp gauge in the truck read 104.
Brent - if not for texting I would have minimal communcation with my kids when they were younger. i also used the opportunity to not use shorthand. Made my kids text in complete sentences. Actually helped my daughters use of grammar.
Apologies for capitalization mistakes and some spelling. The Apple auto-correct is worse than ever. Cannot fight it anymore. My last android device would go back to what you originally input and was easy to correct. Apple just keeps trying crap and you have to back up and sometimes delete 2 complete words or delete the one word two or three times and start over to get what you want.
And here I complain having grown up in a house with a party line telephone.
Have a great day all!
Found out what was causing the rattle on the truck. Something in the catalytic converter is loose. At least my oil change person can fix it. Doctor's visit went ok. Gave out Victory drinks to high school team. Junior high MIA. Back to work tomorrow. Got oil changed on Cruiser and Minivan. Jim, every state differs on their rules for coaches. I never officially coached at the high school level during the regular season so I do not know or want to know the regs. Lost a good race driver this weekend. Doug M, I did not know you were that close to the IRM. Somehow I thought you were closer to downtown. KRM, I like your idea of a "pager" from the old days. I hope everyone has a good day.
Evening all. been a long day. Cut the grass today but still need to take the weed eater to it. I got my legacy system out and I think I'm going to start adding engines to it. Called Lionel to make sure it was up to date and there is a new update out there but need to find somewhere to get a black record-able module.
I just realized I have 32 conventional engines ( on shelves, I have more packed away in sets just not sure how many. ) and only 4 command equiped engines any more lol.think it's time to pack the legacy back up and just keep using the cab1 seing out of the 4 only one has legacy in it.
Not much else going on here. Going to get some wood ( for frame work ) tomorrow so maybe I can build a layout here in the room.

Was supposed to be 104 in the Ol' Pueblo today and it felt like it.
Slept in the bus last night and it was good. Enjoyed being in the a/c for a change. This morning they were moving some of the trolley trucks around so we had to move a couple of the busses including the motorhome. I drove it around the block and now it's closer to where it will eventually reside. I bought a refridgerator from the guy who used to live in the bus. Saved a fair bit from what I was looking at and got a bigger one to boot.
JimS - the motorhome is a '52 'old look' GM bus. The others that I have been working on in the collection are Post War Twin Coaches.
Kev - I've got some photos of the Tacoma Twin in the old yard. I've yet to take any photos of the motorhome.
While I was out at a meeting for work they brought in a '50 Spartan bus that had been converted into a motorhome by one of the engineers who originally designed them. This is a great piece of art deco on wheels and the conversion was well done. I had heard about it, but not seen it yet. Now it is outside my bedroom window.
Getting some laundry done back at 'home' and then will go back down to the barn. I want to finish installing the living room light fixture before I head back to work. Plus I need to wrap up the electrical cord while I am gone.
Hopefully this next weekend I can get the waste water system hooked up.
Morning gang?
Gonna be a hot one today at 102. Canadian cold front may lower temps by Sat with a possible high of 93? I dunno...
Hi,
High of 86 today then 90s for the next two days then cooling off on The North Bluff. No rain in site.
Got to do the money transfer and gift letter for the the kids house today and other than that just chilling.
Sun and low 90s. Still no rain. Grass looks like straw.
Chores and errands done for the day.

Good afternoon everyone,
I'm getting ready for the College Football Season. My favorite teams - Notre Dame University - The Fighting Irish, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy. I'm a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. Came to California in 1963 while in the U.S. Air Force. I miss the midwest.

Mornin' boys. Hazy-hot-humid in the Mid-Atlantic region. Not good yatchett weather, so I'm gonna visit my folks. Being positive, so loaded the Durango with 8 tubs of Christmas stuff, as well as all of my Postwar trains.
Good morning gang,
Today will make 9 days in a row at 100 or more. Low 90's for weekend.
Gearing up to help our kids move from 2 apartments into one starting tomorrow and through the weekend. Rents here are ridiculous. For the square footage it is far more than monthly cost of owning a house. So they will save some money each month.
fifedog... so I'm gonna visit my folks. Being positive, so loaded the Durango with ... all of my Postwar trains.
=====Mornin' Fellas. As Fife pointed out it is a balmy one today. Lots of sunshine, but the air is just heavy. This past weekend I used my FiL's power washer to clean the front porch and the siding that I didn't get a couple months ago... well that went so well I decided to try and 'find' our front walk. HOLY COW! The front walk hasn't looked this nice since before we moved it. No more black mold or green algae! Told The Q I know what I want for my birthday next year! So now I've been researching power washers. I think I want one with a syphon for the cleaner instead of an on-board tank, and one with adjustable flow rate and interchangable nosels. Not sure if I want gas or electric... this is almost like buying a car. LOL!The note about the train garden was only that I really want to get the wiring done so I can run trains and get the basement cleaned up so I can put a tree down there instead of in the Sunroom. I also need to get started building the new Christmas train garden as I will have more space in the basement than in the Sunroom at Christmas time, and I may be able to leave it up year-round and let the kids use it for their Thomas trains... we'll see.
The pool is at 94 degrees. Just take soap.
Hot again today. Did get some rain. Busy at work. Spent more time answering dumb emails than getting actual work done. Go figure. Rested tonight at home. I hope everyone has a good day.
Cloudy and rainy here on the mountain today. Up here on my own until about noon tomorrow. Flash flood watch down valley, but it is supposed to start drying out a bit on Friday.
I installed a light in the living room of the bus which worked out well. I think I will get another for the bedroom. Next is to get the framing for the a/c unit and to extend the bed platfrom. Then on to the waste water system. Never quite seem to get as much done as I would hope, but that's the way it goes. I've also been slowly moving things out of the trailer.
We are going to take a look at starting the '75 Flxible bus this Saturday. Apparently it will run for about 15 min and then shut down. Thinking it might be some kind of fuel issue, but we will see once we get it started. We have 9 more buses stored at the Broadway yard, 2 we hope to be able to drive (the Flxible and the '52 Twin Coach). The rest will be another tow job. 3 are relatively modern 40 footers which we are looking into having towed by a company.
Put just over 2000 miles on the mini van last week. We went to Michigan on vacation and a couple days of work, visiting the vendors for one of my projects.
We really enjoyed the cooler weather in Michigan while we were there.
The other thing we got done was settling the rest of my wife's parent's estate. We ended up with the cottage at a small lake north of Grand Rapids. Not lakefront, but my wife's cousin owns lakefront property across the street.
That is one more piece in place for our retirement preperation .
We paddled our 18' Gurmman aluminum canoe around the lake a few times. Was fun watching the kingfishers.
We stopped by a train store in Lowell, Ind. on the way home. Neat store, with a good stock of used stuff. We walked away with a barrel loader, a pair of automatic crossing gates, a GTW boxcar, a MKT stock car, and a Mopac caboose.
The Mo. State Fair opens tomorrow. Planning on sneaking out of work a little early and going to see the opening festivities. Our little town is going to be busy for the next 10 days. I noticed an increase of people in the local resturants over the last couple of days.
All for now.
