Aloha. I've never started one of these before but just 'can't' post under July. It's a beautiful morning in downtown Chicago. Had a quiet weekend. Nice score, DonB! Happy Anniversary Jim!

Thanks Doug.  Don't know what happened to RT.  I had relinquished the duty to him.  If I had known he was not here, would have jumped on it as was up around midnight.  You did just great.

It is eveyone's Pot so even SJ Wink has started them before.

Hot and humid and has been for days and days.  Weather guessers keep forecasting cooler and then change the next morning.

Have a great month of August.

Wow....page one....it's been a while...

Phish....Happy Belated Anniversary

Kevin .... hope you're feeling better

Attorney shenanigans are holding us from moving into the house, no wanting to delay us until the 11th.....I'm speechless,  just paid another $90 for storage until the 13th, plus still owe for July and now August to my parents and sister....I'm just speechless....

Fifedog...I feel your pain....

Cooler today, softball playoffs start tonight. Last 2 games I'm a combined 6 for 7 with 3 RBIs....

Prayers to all ..... be back soonest

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Good morning guys,

I thought I was feeling bad but Banks is looking for the September POT. Smile, Wink & Grin

Take it easy Banks.

Thanks Rich,

Slept well but getting out of bed sucks when your so stiff feom being in bed all night. Got pension payment today so off to pay bills and the back half of the property taxes.

Seems everyone is having problems with houses. Daughter had a closing on a second house for the 16th first one fell apart the same way this is. The appraisal came in 9K below the agreed to sell price? Seems the appraiser is looking at prices during the crash not at today’s prices so both seller and daughter protested the appraisal don’t know if that will be any help. Best know she will be wanting some help from DAD. Bang Head

The seller has a job in Ohio and has already moved thinking it was all good. The daughter has already enrolled the kids in the school where they would be because she had to meet the deadline. I told her everyone stands to loose in this deal but the bank so just try to work something out with the seller. Bet he don’t want to have to get a bridge loan to sell it.
Have a good day.

Guten Abend,

Hello from Germany!  I know it has been ages since I last posted but the past few months were incredibly busy.  We left Ohio Memorial Day weekend, spent a week with my family in Pennsylvania, and then arrived to Germany on June 6th.  The past month has been busy with me settling in at work and finding a home and car.  Those are finished and our household items arrived two Saturdays ago.  We still have plenty of boxes to unpack but it is coming along.

I hope everyone is doing well.  I will check in tomorrow.

Joe

Good Afternoon from overcast Southern Ohio,

Weather radar has some showers coming our way.  Tonight is the first mandatory football practice so we’ll get an accurate count of who is playing.

Granddaughter did not place at the State Fair but the judges loved her quilt and asked that it remain on display.  This was her first quilt and she did do a really good job on it.

Don – The visit you arranged was the high point for my visit to Hollywood, then the Peterson museum.  Gabriel still talks of it too.

Kev – Just try to rest and recover, or cover if you are naked. EmbarrassedIndifferent

John & Joe – Glad to see you posting again!

Rich – It seems there are always hurdles; got to be frustrating

May God bless

Hello,

It was an unseasonably cool day here today; the high was only in the mid-60s and it rained off and on.  I had a nice German-style lunch with the wife and then she made meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner.  I worked later than usual so we didn’t get any more boxed unpacked this evening.  However, I did manage to crack the windshield while changing a wiper.  The wiper arm snapped back into place before I could get the new on and the force was enough to put a nice chip into the windshield and about four good sized cracks coming from it.  It is the windshield for our van that we brought from the States.  It is a Honda Odyssey which is not a common car here so I cannot wait to see the cost and timeframe to have it replaced.

Becky – Those are important phrases and familiar to us.  We lived here from 2002-2005.  We are happy to be back in Germany as our kids are old enough to now remember things.

Kev – Have fun at PT.

Gute Nacht,

Joe

Here at our retirement home where I live there is talk of getting some horses for the members. Big Smile  Better stock up on the apples.  We have a brand new first class chicken coop and for the longest time we have had a good size veggie garden.  Good wholesome therapy.

Good Morning from foggy 70°F Southern Ohio

Welcome G Bear!

The cooler temps and warm ground really made for some fog on the drive to work.  It is to get hot again today.  Football practice last night was really hot, field temps well over 94° so after warm ups, the linemen hit the sled and we regrouped the team and ran plays.  They looked sharp.  We did run sprints to continue with the stamina building.  We moved two of the guards to run sprints with the backs because they are the 1st and 2nd fastest players (faster than the backs) on the field and the 2nd and 3rd biggest.  Two weeks until our first scrimmage.

G Bear – What kind of chickens are you getting?  I’m enjoying you post about the carpet layouts.

Penny – Your layout is beautiful!   The apartment in back is amazing.

Kev – I think that is called being Drawn and Quartered, luckily they did not disembowel you!

Fife – Maybe some plastic flamingos in the yard will help sell your house.

May God bless

Jim

Fife. ....thanks for checking. Last week while at wally world looking for a pool on clearance I bought a new MTD rear tine half off. It's not a Troybilt but the price was right.

Aloha. Sunny, hot and beautiful again today. Welcome G Bear! Class went well and I got home in time to see the end of the White Sox getting shellacked by SJ's Tigers. MikeC, the Morton Arboretum is gorgeous. I presume you're at the one in Illinois. Fife, tillers can be expensive... Oh, you mean the other kind of tiller. Welcome back to Germany, Joe! Maybe they can fill in the chip? I have friends who are in Wurtzburg now. Beautiful country.

Doug when I check the morning paper, yes we still get one, I think of Buckeye. His beloved Cleveland Indians have held first place most of the season.

Can't believe it's August already.  Going to see wife today.  Weather has cooled off a little but not enough for me.

Got out in the garage one morning this week and ran trains for a little while.  They needed running bad.  Track needs cleaning.  Dust is settling on everything.  Needs some TLC.  Some areas need more feeders.  Passenger station voltage is way to low on some tracks and inside loop of double track has been a continuing problem.  I got away with it running DTC because you run 18 volts to the track all the time so when the voltage drops a little here and there, it doesn't bother engines with DTC too much.  However running conventional, it is slow in areas with voltage drop and runs like a rocket close to the transformer.

Friend Larry wants me to join him tomorrow to ride one of the new Metrolink lines from Riverside to Perris, California.  That's the location of the Orange Empire Railway Museum.  Mostly trolleys but they have several diesels and one operating steam engine.

Hello Jim (Sturgeon-Phish)

Regarding the chickens, there is a fluffy, pure white Silkie Bantam Rooster, there is a light brown Bearded Silkie Rooster.  Among the hens are two Dutch Welsummers (the 'Twins'), one Americauna, and one Black Laced Red Wyandotte.  I saw a picture (on the cover of our newspaper) and they are really beautiful chickens.  G BEAR  You might be able to find photos of these different types of chickens on the internet.
