Fife, It was a Benetau 36.7 - I guess it is French (none of the electronics were working ; In addition the life jacket, they kindly lent me special gloves so I still have skin on my palms. I have another lesson early Friday and hopefully will earn my 'card' to be able to locally rent a dingy.

Aloha from a humid and grey Chicago. Had a fun, busy weekend. My sailing teacher invited me to crew his boat in a race on Lake Michigan on Sat. and with only 2 hours of learning how to sail, I think I did OK - pulling on lines when they told me to pull and gathering in sails when they came down. Good thing there were another 5 guys who knew what they were doing. So after 8 hours zipping around buoys, we came in 3rd of 10 boats. Watched the NASCAR race at Watkins Glen yesterday - I sure enjoy the road courses. Dennis, that's a great purchase! 8n, sounds like a nice trip. Chief is right, those chiggers - and ticks - are everywhere.

Morning all. Sunny and cooler. Getting ready to drive with local Golden Corral Manager to Camp Corral in Greensboro NC [contracted with that YMCA Camp]. Going to greet kids of fallen vets for their check in at free camp.
Mornin' boys. Sunny & 70 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. A little laundry. A little yatchet today. Steaks on the grill tonight. Doesn't get much better.
Wifey had a tough week at work, so surprised her with a visit to the Nauti-Goose. After sipping a couple orange crushes at dockside, she forgot her worries. Met a nice older couple from YORK there. They thought we were newlyweds. We had to explain that we had to cross 2 county lines to get away from the kiddos, and we were just giddy at the moment.
Oldest princess secured me a very cool "nautical" load for my PW 6032 gon. Gonna have to post some pics on SPF (do we still have SPF...?) next week.

I reffed 2 blowouts today as the local squads lost by more than 10 in each match. I did watch a good EPL match with Chelsea tying Swansea City 2-2. The local Indy 11 got waxed 4-1. I worked on weeds again. It was warm outside. Supposed to rain again Sunday. I hope everyone has a good day.

IT guy that use to be a manager with TWC security just fixed computer. Sped it up. Also found that my Samsung Blue Ray wireless tha was messing up was TWC's fault. Samsung could not figure it out. Was having to in settings and do some network settings manually each time I want to watch an app [like Netflix]. Called old employee and they fixed. Its because they are replacing old modems and are not getting to them fast enough. They will do Monday [actually wanted to do tomorrow but going to check in at Camp Corral].

8N, get an anckle full. Spray socks and shoes when I got in the woods [like all day Thursday at the farms]. Still get them. Also on arms and especially under watch band. I spray and spray. Does no good.

V8, congratulations and good luck with the new car. Hope you got a good one. If I live long enough to need another car, I will probably go to the used market as well. Meanwhile, my 96 Honda Accord is still in excellent shape and under 100K miles. Same with my 87 Buick, however, it needs some things but isn't worth the cost.
Had a terrible night last night. Went to bed around midnight and could not sleep. Took two Tylenol extra strength and back to bed. About two AM I got sick on my stomach. Rest of the night was spent running at both ends. I had something like this happen around July 4th. I think it's caused by drinking regular iced tea. I can only handle decaf. We got an invite to eat out tonight but I will have to be very careful about what I order. Been nursing myself all day today with bland food. I just had a colonoscopy recently but they found nothing in that department. I hope I can get over this. I don't want anymore procedures for a while.

Beautiful day today, took the Road Star to work. I'll be taking to the Edison show tomorrow, so hopefully I'll see HudsonJohn, AFRay and maybe DJ. And, yes, the saddlebags will be empty.....

A busier and more frustrating day at work than planned, but got most of it worked out before I left. Mowed what little of the yard that I could. No work done on house today despite perfect weather. Not sure what is going on. This is really getting old really fast. I hope everyone has a good day.
Wow. A week of August is gone! Took a week of vacation tha last week of July, then got tied up playing 'catch up' at work. Just got back from two days of training in Kansas City tonight.
For vacation we did the Missouri, Michigan, Kentucky triangle last week. 2100 miles worth. Walked our property in Kentucky. Brought home a momento from that walk - two socks full of chiggers. Miserable little !@#$% critters!
Getting ready for the foundation contractor who is supposed to show up this week and shore up my foundation and porch floor. My wife is going in for catract surgery next week as well.
Oh, one more thing. We got a call from someone claiming to be from "Windows" telling me that I needed to go to my computer so he could tell me how to fix some sort of security problem. I didn't bite. Ended up hanging up on him. A check on the Microsoft web site revealed that there are phone scams out there like this, and that Microsoft does not make phone calls to customers.

Good and Bad news here. Good news is that I did good with my doctor visit on Wednesday. All of my numbers were good. Bad news is that Mom went a bit backwards and she may have another rectum problem. The surgeon wants to see her next week.

Fife: Enjoy Fifepops Camp. A playdate sounds like a great idea. Doray bought me the 773 for Christmas with the help of her brother AF53 Ray. Ray is really busy with work, that is why he is not posting. As soon as Mom is doing a bit better, we can make plans.
Doug, My method for reconditioning tubular track. First, I check for conductivity with the outer rails then I check that the innner rail is insulated. If the track is dirty or rusty, I spray an old toothbrush very sparingly with WD 40 to remove rust and dirt. I then wipe the entire track with a premoisted towelette of either Oops or Goof Off that I buy at Home Depot. I then check that the pins are tight. If not I remove them, then tighten up the holes with a pair of needle nose pliers, pinching below the opening usually is enough. I then polish up the pins with a Track Eraser. Then I tap the pins back in. I repeat the pin fitting check and fitting process on the opposite end with a spare pin. I then polish up the track surface with a track eraser. I prefer the Bright Boy. Wipe it down with the premoistened towelette and they are good to go. I find it takes about 3 minutes a section once you are set up. Loose ties I tighten up with my Hobby Horse Press. But it can be done other ways. I find that the premoisted towelettes are great from removing dirt, grease and oil on the layout tracks.

Good news for air travelers here. L.A. has agreed to give the Ontario, Ca. airport back to Ontario. (after they have just about distroyed it by sending half the flights to L.A. by raising the landing fees at Ontario.) We used to get at least 3 or 4 flights a day on American airlines alone to the East but now down to one or two. I had to go to L.A. last time to get a flight to the East Coast. Anyway, I hope they can build up Ontario again. A lot closer to home. I would rather take a beating than having to fly out of L.A

Re egg prices, I have'nt heard that news about the bird desease that killed a lot of chickens but that makes more sense than having to round up all the hens at egg laying time.
Chief, that switching yard South of Petersburg sounds like Crew, Virginia. Used to be a crew change/divison point on the old N&W. Maybe today they run further from Norfolk. However, when I worked on the SP in L.A. they only ran from L.A. to West Colton, a distance of 57 miles due to antiquated rules. Before the classification yard was built at West Colton, the L.A. crews ran from L.A. to Indio, California close to 100 miles. After West Colton was built, the runs were divided in two. L.A to West Colton and West Colton to Indio. I worked both ends at times. Sorry to provide answers to questions that were'nt asked.

Aloha from another beauty of a summer day in Chicago. I have class tonight so won't see much of it. HudsonJohn, do you mind sharing a bit about your method with tubular track? My layout is still all 027 and sometimes a piece of it just seems electrically dead - even if it looks new, is isolated correctly, with new connector pins.
I can't imagine under $2 a gallon for gas - I just paid 3.67 - it's all local gas taxes for road construction... Buckeye, that is really neat - did they let you fly the drone? Does the tunnel go all the way to France? Kev, A Day Out with Thomas at the IRM is crazy-time. Do not judge the museum by the traffic on that day and general craziness. If your grandkids love Thomas, it is like going to Disneyland! My boys loved it when they were little - we met Sir Hatt too. Generally, after they funnel you through the merch. tents, you get a ticket to board Thomas' train at a certain time. On normal days, you can ride whenever you want. They usually run trolleys on Thomas days too. They use just about every coach on Thomas' train and they usually use their BN executive train engines to push Thomas out on their main line and then pull him back again.
