Good evening all,

Good news, bad news weekend.   Girls won 4-0 Saturday and the boys tied 2-2.  Sato got a 6th for AJ this weekend.   Bad news is that Justin Wilson was badly hurt in a wreck.   Tony Stewart loaned his plane so JW's family could be flown by his side.  Roy, I feel your pain on the family pet.   I worked on a couple of projects that needed to be done, but they took much longer than they should have.   Leg is doing better.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

G'day All !

Been nursing the same thing as Ray, cept I made a visit to the dac last Tuesday. A Z'pack and a big bottle of cough supressant later it hasn't let go yet. The cough supressant has lots codeine, so one dose and it's Zzz . Good stuff. Didnt take any to the museum on Friday so it kinda made for a long day.

Roy, tuff to lose a four footed family member. We had to say goodbye to our last one about 12yrs ago. In spite of everybody's insistence I am adamant in saying no to getting another dog. He was my cabinet making buddy, he was always welcome to the lumber yards and the bank drive up tellers knew him by name and always sent out a treat with my receipts.

Been kinda crazy here at the house, had a contractor do some rebuilding of the balconey prior to a complete repaint. So you know how that goes, you find a whole host of "hidden" repairs before the original work can be completed. What starts as not so cheap work turns into WHOA. The biggest issue was the beam that spans the 2 car garage door and supports the fireplace and double french doors in the living room wall had to be replaced. They showed me why it had sagged almost 2 inches in the middle, there was a split that ran almost the full length down it's side.

Oh well, it will be almost new when finished and the new paint is really looking good.

Later guys.

Hey Roy, sorry about the dog. That always sucks. We have not been able to bring ourselves to replace Lacey who passed 6 years ago.

Well the house is quiet and still. Jordan was overall very good for a two year old., He did however find the spur switch and drive Thomas at full speed into the rear of the parked General set causing death and destruction on a massive scale at the antique tractor and car show on the layout. Surprise

Ray, Take care of that cold/flu or whatever. You got enought to deal with. Angel

Roy, sorry about the dog.  Best you can hope for is a peaceful passing.

Gold line had a station dedication in Arcadia yesterday.  Drove by there enroute to TCA meet but did not stop.  Big crowd and lots of cars parked.  Local politicians holding forth on the occasion.

Picked up 10 train video tapes at the meet.  Turns out I already had one of them on the Pacific Electric.  Maybe I can trade with somebody.  One tape was all about the Big Boys over Sherman Hill with commentary by Steve Lee, former head of the U.P.Steam Program.  It was made before the 4014 was moved from Pomona back to Cheyenne for restoration but that project is looking dead lately.

Still nursing my cold/flu or whatever.  Taking over the counter stuff for the weekend.  Will check in with Doc next week if I need it.

Got a lot of tapes to look at.

Ray

Morning all.  Passing through real fast.  Been extra busy.  Need to retire.

Sunny and not as humid.  Watering as DRY.

Oldest and Wifey have b'day dinner later this afternoon.

Roy, sorry for your dog.  Are family members.  Wifey has a corner of the back yard next to the fence as pet grave yard.  Had stones, flowers and a dog "monument" in the middle.  Been through quite a few here over 30 years.

Glad Buckeye is behaving.  Don't have to come and call him down.

Hope all have a great week ahead.

Evening all!

Another busy week. Completed several projects.

Dealing with our geriatric mutt. Her liver is in bad shape and vet cannot predict how long she has left. Strangely she has really perked up in the last couple of days. We stopped any meds that were making her uncomfortable and that has made her even better. But she is at that point where she cannot completely control herself so at times she wants outside every 4 minutes.

Have a great day tomorrow all!

Regards, Roy

Good evening all,

Reffed 2 games and watched another one on Telemundo.   Went to a "Power of the Past" event in town and was mostly flea market and toy tractor show.   Did some work on projects.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Attended the Stockyard Express Train Store's 6th Annual Open House today west of Oberlin, Ohio.  I've decided that Stockyard is Ohio's best train store. If you are crossing Ohio on the Turnpike, it is just about 1/4 miles south of US 20.  They have a beautiful display of MTH locomotives.  Clyde, the owner is a big Nickle Plate fan and you can see them run on two layouts.

The weather today was just about a good as it gets.  Warm and low humitity.

FIFE.....We need to get together and ride those WV trains in the near future.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Like for Doug the weather will be nice on the North Bluff today.

Had to pass on going to the Farm equipement auction today because I have to pick up Jorday this afternoon. When he gets here we are going to install the quick hitch on the John Deere I got for it this week. Should be fun. He likes equipement. Then train time. No Devices.

Good luck on the house Rich! Hang tight on the offer..

I noticed the wife's car needs rear brakes. She would never know. Anyway it is about time. The car is 8 years old and has 120K on the original brakes. I had better get a battery to. It is also original. Surprise

Any of you ever get anything from Rockauto??? I want to use OE parts.

Well, the move to WV is really becoming clearer.  Got to spend way less time in retirment mode, and get things packed and ready.

Rich47 - Grandsons are like sponges.  Give him boundaries, but also encourage his input.  Anything to keep the thumbs off the i-pod, game station, or other idiot devices.  My grandson's enthusiasm certainly has nurtured my interest in old toy trains again.

Fife - Good luck on your move!!

AND....I totally agree with you.  Kids are being isolated with electronic distractions and not living in the real world.

Don't agree with those wandering around with headphones all day either....I don't think I need a soundtrack to my everyday life....

Aloha from what looks like a nice pleasant day in the 80s - just walked Torben the Wonder Dog who was very happy to get out - as I was too. I like your attitudes about devices and the kids. I try (not consistent enough) to keep the phone from the youngest when he is home - then he plays creatively and reads. He is creative in things like Minecraft on the computer but even there, he seems happier if he has a limit.

I recommend seeing the movie The Gift if you like a good psychological thriller. I also managed to capsize the dingy I took out sailing on a local lake yesterday - guess that means I have to practice more
:D For some reason, my phone died - definitely a first-world problem but not looking forward to the hassle of having to replace it.

Rich, I think you are making good choices - I remember the radio ads on WABC-AM "Funny Car! Funny Car! Funny Car! Come out to  Englishtown NJ!"

Happy Saturday.......here at work.....

OK _ Here's the scoop on the house, I made an offer of $146K, they upped it to $148K, which I barely accepted, then 24 hours later, it jumped to $150k. I backed out at that time. I told them $146K or I'm out. NOW they want me to pay for the CoO ($80), then changed their mind and wanted it included in the offer. I upped the offer to $146,080 to include the CoO. If it ain't done by Wednesday, I'm withdrawing the offer completely.

With school starting, all the players with kids are out and there will be more homes on the market for less money. I may wait until I return from my vacation in October to look. There is another house that just hit for the same money, bigger, with basement and garage in town. Taxes are up $4oo over the smaller property.

Mopar weekend at Englishtown, I may go tomorrow and shop, really p***ed off the roadrunner is STILL not right, they were handing out special awards for anniversary cars...Mine, being a 1970, is in that class. SO, now, I'll miss that.

Back to the grind.....

Good Evening!

Busy week here. Mom is improving each day. Doing some layout work and just relaxing tonight.

Dennis: Vehicle inspection in NJ just consists of vehicle emissions.

Kev: I can imagine all of the Cream Puffs going to the auction.

Doug: Thanks for the info on Thomas Land.

We have the heat and humidity here also. We had storms come thru last night that help a bit.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

John

Fife, I agree,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I am with you Fife, no devices allowed here for the grand-kids. The son won’t come over because he said if I wanted to talk to him I had to do it on FaceBook. Oh, well, his kids are brats. I hope some day he will get it. Their key word is busy.?????
On the other side Lexi and Jordan don’t look for device entertainment here and seem to be fine. The whole idea of having 8+ acres for them to roam in the first place.

I thought I needed to clarify that I do allow two devices for the grand-kids to use. They are a CW-80 and a ZW.  Wink

Anyhow enough of that.

My butt is wiped. Tired, but got a lot done on the lane and on Jim's dime for a change.  I offered to buy his fuel, it works out to $10.00 a load. Glad we work for free or we would be loosing money. The rest of the no help on the lane are just that.... Picked up the dead Rabbit guts George has left for us now he is mad..... Confused

Later.

On a whim I thought I would ride my old 1975 Triumph Trident bike to town to see if the dent guys (storm chasers from Georgia)  that were fixing all of the hail damaged cars at the dealer could get the ding out of my bike fuel tank. Well there was no one there doing any work and the gal told me to take it to Ottawa to the shop and ask. When I got there the good old boy said bring it in and let me look at it. He fiddled around some and then asked me if I could hold against what he was trying to push on and in about 25 minutes,,,,,,,,,,,,no dent!!!!!!!! We talked car and other BS and when I asked him how much he needed he said how about lunch at Burger King. I told him I had already had lunch but would give him what I had in my wallet so he could get lunch. $16.00 later I was gone and we both were happy. Cool! So I got it fixed and got a good ride in. Good evening all,

Ok day at work (ok being relative).  Interesting how your view point can affect your reaction to circumstances.   Boys lost 5-0 and I thought they played well.  Girls lost 3-0 and that was one I thought for sure would be a win.  Go figure.   Weather is wonderful.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Back for a little visit, it's been a bit.  Weather has been unseasonably hot for most of the past month & we have had very little rain.  Lawns are brown and crops are hurting.  Today so far we have had 3-1/2" of rain, not sure we need that much all at once, but we'll take it.  I see the navigation of the forum is still a mystery.  A mismash of numbers including negative ones and no last button to get you to the end so I'm posting in hopes of getting to the last page.

Take care, John

Off to Portland this morning to see my radiologist at Maine Medical. Got a great report, and when you think about it, your health is what is really important.

Sun is now out, so the boat is calling. We then have to get ready to visit a train friend in Rhode Island. Should be a fun time seeing his layout for the first time.

Good evening all,

Bad day yesterday got worse today at work.  Lucas and GF got a new place to rent.  Saw pictures.  Very nice.   Glad they will be out of rat hole they are in now.  Better news is that her parents are renting them a U-haul to get all of their stuff from our place.  May finally have some room to breathe.  Saw new MTH tinplate catalog.  New 200 series cars show some promise for the line.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all,

Caregiver meeting yesterday and wife went to day care while I was there.  It all went well.  Stopped for N and out burgers on the way home.  Went out to eat last night too with wife and youngest adult son.  He will be out of town now until Thursday night.  Thought about going to the beach today (60 miles) but can't get motivated.  It has cooled off a little here now.

Have a good day all,

Ray

Today was Cody's grooming. If we don't take him once a month, he is like a sheep. It is also a lot cooler for him with his haircut.

Vrey warm in Maine today. We beat the heat by taking the boat out on the lake. Cody comes too.

Later today, got some work to do on the barn layout. Nice way to spend an hour or two.
