G'day All !

Really nice day so far, a nice steady rain and quite a bit of  Lightning . We seldomm get very much of it so it is really pleasant to watch and listen, so long as it don't start any fires.

Made it thru a whole day at the museum yesterday, but I sure was glad that SWMBO was my chauffeur. I was pooped. Sure will be happy when the weight restrictions are lifted, it is a major headache when you can only pack 4 freight cars to a tub. You end up transporting more dead airspace than cars.

You can tell we are on page 5 since the funky numbering shows up at the bottom of the page.

Fife, Everyone always thought that the "Wild Wild West" was out this way, looks as though it has been moved to West Baltimore.  Whistling

Latter all.

V8, not to worry about VCR tapes.  I still have all of mine but don't play them much.  Like you, my recorder does not accept digital signals from the new TV but will play the prerecorded tapes.

I saw that fire in Cajon Pass yesterday on TV.  Never have I seen cars trapped like that on a freeway.  Luckily no one was hurt.  Several cars, trucks and even a boat on a trailer burned though.

Got some hail this morning and a few drops of rain along with a couple of claps of thunder.  I thought the pet bird we are baby sitting would go nuts but he didn't.

We went to a nice summer party last night.  It was up in the hills above Glendora.  Beautiful place but darn close to that fire we had in the hills.  Burn evidence still all around the area.  Did see about 5 deer hanging out right across the street from the house.  One buck and 4 does.  They were eating leaves off of low hanging tree branches since all the grass was burned up.

Got to talk to a retired priest who is new to our parish and living at the rectory now.  Very likeable and interesting guy.  He is helping out while our associate priest is on vacation.

It was a good outing for my wife to see a lot of her old friends who she hasn't seen since coming down with dementia.  Don't know how much of it she will remember but she had a good time while we were there.

My friend Larry is riding the special UP train from Denver to Cheyenne this weekend powered by the E8 diesels and one modern high horsepower unit.  All the steam engines are still out of service.

My oldest son and his family returned from Maryland/Washington last night.  They are picking up the pet bird today.  I can't wait!

Have a good weekend all,

Ray

Gorgeous all week weather-wise, but today we have thunderstorms and a 104 heat index, which means no cards with buddies on the yatchet.  Sigh  Small bump compared to other national happenings...  My neighbor will host instead, after getting his wife's blessing.  I actually have been cleaning and servicing his childhood AF set, this week.  It's a Reading 303 with a pretty good assortment of freight cars and track, and apparently belonged to his dad.  He indicated I could keep it, but I insisted that he hold on to them and give them to his young grandson.

Went for check-up Thursday and my blood pressure is the lowest it's been in 2 decades.  Retirement must be doing right by me. Yes

Hello there,

Not so glad it's Friday this weekSad   Spent it at Delaware Seashore State Park being lazy. Just Mrs, the 2 dogs and me. Been fielding calls and email all week hoping to minimize the crazieness next week. We shall see.

Spent some time at Toy Town and Walt's Train Shop in Berlin Md. today. Nothing new at Toy Town since June. Walt's is open only Thursday-Saturday so i missed him in June. I picked up two Mantua cars there today while shooting the breeze there today.

Planning t swing by Fifes on the way home Sunday

I had more t say but I keep dozing off here

Please pray for Mrs' sister. Don't think she can hold on much longer,

Pryers for those in need

Good evening all,

A very good day at work.  A problem I have been trying to solve off and on for a very long time was finally fixed today.  It is a coding issue that I was not able to get to work to my satisfaction until today, and the feeling of satisfaction was quite good.   More progress on the room addition today and then a ton of rain this evening.   Supposed to be blazing hot tomorrow.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Woke up to more rain. I'm trying to lose 4 lbs and granny feeds me a breakfast big enough to be the meal of the day. It just might be. No train news except a module project one of my friends started.

Good morning from the North Bluff. Cool

Like 8N I have been lurking. Neat about the B2s 8N,   Smile

Rained most of the night but at least it was not a gusher. Bright sun now.

77 and very humid now and heading to close if not 90 with heat index of 100+  Yuck.  Tongue Tied

Grocery shopping and hiding from the heat is today's plan. It is cool and dry in the train room in the basement. Wink

No kids this weekend, It is Plainfield Fest at the old home town so they will be there with their mom and dad.

Been busy enough lately that I have been lurking.  Finally have collected enough items to share.

First, the bad news.  The local hobby has closed.  He had a 13 year run, but his business has been going down hill since the 2008 economic difficulties.

Second, I pulled a good one on my boss today.  My company phone is an older model flip phone.  Just about all of the other engineers are using i phones.  I found out today that my phone does not know what to do with group texts sent out by an i phone.  The boss texted me back that he will look into upgrading me to an i phone.  I texted back asking if I really had to, pointing out that I do not trust machinery that does not have any buttons.  5 minutes later, he is in my office with a great big grin cracking up over my reply.

Third - last night just after the sun set, I was outside and noticed a pair of B2's approaching.  I stood watching them fly by, as I usually do when I see them in flight.  The neat thing was when they were about overhead, about 1/2 dozen bats also flew overhead.  Amazing how close the sillowets are.

No train news.  I'm busy taking the downstairs bathroom down to the studs, converting it from a full bath into a 1/2 bath plus storage.

All for now.

Good evening all,

Another lazy summer day here.  I've been reading the new book about the Wright Brothers by David McCullough.  An old familiar story but a good read.  Funny, I grew up within easy driving distance of Kitty Hawk but never went there.  I do remember going fishing at Nags Head though which is in the neighborhood.

Midge at MTH sent me some more screws for my recently repaired engine and they work!  Finally everything seems all there again.

later,

Ray

Afternoon Fellas

Been very busy with life and work. Vacation was less than and I really need to get away were no one from work can contact me... or I need a new job where I am not the only one capable of doing work, fixing issues, or who can answer a simple 'yes or no' question. It is great for job security, but for work/life balance it is far from preferred.

Sounds like FifePop's house isn't FifeGrandPup proof! LOL.

Traindaddy - congrats on the little one! Angel prayers that she continues to gain weight and grow.

Can't remember anything else I was going to mention... Sigh

Hope everyone is well.

Fife ----- if that garage was closer.....3 more years until I get my life membership.

Yeah, absolutely correct on the elephant analogy.....

Looked at another house last night......at least the garage was nice....

Tomorrow is vacation....drama free I hope....I need the time off.

Ordered a TON of front end parts for the roadrunner and most of them just showed up....I'm thinkin' my 1 last hold over vacation day may be used to do the front end and the under dash harness.....The more I know about women, the more I LOVE my roadrunner!!! lol!!!

Thanks, Fife, you're just plain awesome!

My Lionel Airex boat-loader arrived (6-29413).  Much heavier than I imagined.  I think I'll leave the boats in their clear plastic cradles, as they would rattle loosie-goosie up and down my mountain grades.

Cleared some old wood from the cellar, and took the opportunity to show the youngest princess how to use a circular saw, and a jigsaw.  With little practice, she was able to stay on mark, which will make her more of a catch for potential young suitors, I s'pose.

anjdevil - I happen to be selling a garage, that happens to come with a cozy 3 bedroom cape cod, new driveway, pirate ship, and don't forget a complete (and published) 3 rail layout.......  As for the gf, you've already seen the elephant.  3 billion other fish in the sea.

Chief -He'll be back tomorrow.

Aloha. Gorgeous weather here too. Much much cooler. Caught up on more recorded TV last night (Batman, Star Trek, Jonathan Strange) and the All-Star game. Almost caught up at work. I like the Menards's Chicago FD ambulance posted on the CTT Facebook page. I'll be looking for that  one.

Morning all.  Beautiful day here.  Busy errands day and probably TV interviews.  Bypass should open.

Speaking of bypass.  Weather persons did the biggest screwup in quite a while.  Forecasted severe thunder storms by late evening.  Bypass folks packed up and went home.  Delaying opening scheduled for late last night.  NOT A CLOUD showed in the sky.

Poppa Fifey.  Bet Mom will not let him stay with you again.  Trying to toughen him up, huh.

Hope all are OK.

Happy Wednesday....

Sorry for the extended leave of absence, work has been a real treat.....

House hunting is the pits, just need to find the right place and price.....I NEED a garage.....the idiot tenet from upstairs at the garage I'm renting insists on blocking me in.

Vacation starts in 2 days, I'll be taking the train to Metro Park in Jersey(don't ask, long story) and meeting the GF for a 4 day escape to the Poconos...and this may be a make or break weekend....she's been driving me nuts with off the wall stuff lately and getting worse...

Dark and rainy right now, under flood watch.  Very Humid.

Had to order upper control arms and such for the road runner, found out the steering issues were related to suspension.  Almost all new stuff front and rear now, should handle like a dream after its done.

Prayers for those in need....be back soon as possible

Evenin' boys.  Calm before the Lightning.  'Twas Tuesday, so the grandson was here all day.  Poor little guy had a rough 24 hours.  Yesterday left some skin on the sidewalk from a bike accident.  Then fell from the girls' bunk bed ladder this morning, hurting his bum.  Adding insult to injury, his aunties wouldn't kiss his booboo.  Then he wanted to run Pop's trains.  While waiting for my 2026 to come blasting out of the tunnel, he was leaning too close to the layout edge, at which time he got popped in the right cheek by my Bicentennial GG1.  It stunned him, but how many people say they have walked away from such an encounter....  Anyway, had to make interesting conversation when his mommy drove him home.

Good morning,

Well it is sunny and warm. Marseilles hail yesterday made the nine and ten o'clock news last night. Some was a lot bigger than what Sandra and I got. Freaked out the cat for sure! Cars were in the garages so we were good.

No plans.
