Redfire - Big CONGA on the engagement.  BTW, does she know about your train "affliction..."  I would check out that Berlin store, if I didn't have the fam in tow when we go.

SPMan - Yes on the grandson.  Made me immediatley think of Homer from The Rocket Boys (October Sky).

V8, I don't understand the high gas prices either.  Last I heard we were out producing everyone in the world with fracking etc. so they had to fall back on thier old reliable excuse.  i.e. trouble at the refinery.  They say something is broken but blame the government for not getting it fixed because of regulations.

I have been having stomach trouble lately.  I think an old ulcer might be acting up.  Lord knows I have been abusing myself with the wrong kinds of food and stress.  I have a regular check up today with my gastrointerologist.  He will probably do another procedure on me.

Our live in son is gone all week due to his work schedule.  Staying overnight closer to his job.  Meantime, nobody here but us chickens.  Makes me realize how much we have come to depend on him.  Will consider hiring some help if this keeps up.

I have been running my trains a little bit in the last month.  Got all my problems fixed for a while but need to keep it up.

My oldest son and his family returned from Baltimore/Washington last weekend after the recognition of my grandson for his work for NASA as a high school student.  He got a big trophy from them and a trip to the NASA facility in Maryland.  He has already been to Cape Canveral and Houston on previous projects.  He is starting college this fall at U.C.Irvine majoring in aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering.  We are very proud of him.

Lost another train buddy recently from TCA Western and TTOS Southwestern.  He was a retired airline pilot and a nice guy. R.I.P.

Sun and 80s today. Edison just installed their new meters that send a signal to them. No more meter readers. More jobs gone. Lot's of debate about these meters but Edison is going ahead with their plans regardless. S.J.

Aloha from another beautiful day downtown. Rich, sounds like you had a nice relaxing break. I had fun zipping around Grant Park yesterday at lunchtime with an old scooter that I keep in the office. I have an actual class in an actual classroom starting tonight - for the first time in a long time...

MikeC- you tossed the train components out the window?

My mini-vacation was awesome....the lodge was great and we're going back.

Had time to talk about some things with the GF and took lots of stuff off the table, just trying to enjoy the company and not so much about the "5 year plans".

I need to get my goals accomplished first and foremost. Me first, most everything else later.

Good/bad news...Princess may be moving in the company by end of year, bad new is the lease is up on her Mom's apartment and Mom is abandoning the place by December with her up coming marriage. So she is in a mini panic.....I will, of course, handle the issue from here, since I am familiar with the Florida environment.

House hunt continues, which is #1 goal on the list. Some homes have no garage, but I found a few that drop ship or build on site and they are affordable. $5K for a 12X20X10.

Back to the rat race....

Mornin' boys.  Cloudy and muggy here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Waitin' on grandson to come over, in the meantime boiling eggs for some egg salad sandwiches.  Yesterday I was just plain grumpy.  Then I saw the neighbor's young grandson, and invited them over to run trains.  Kinda snapped me out of it.  Then I got back to work on my other neighbor's Flyer set.  He has a lot of track, and half off it missing insulation strips, so I've been fabricating my own.  I'm guessing it's ok to test it with a Lionel 1033...?

88 - Banks asked where you've been.  I've been thinking of others as well.  I see passing emails once in awhile, just haven't seen nor heard from Sturgeon or HudsonJohn.  Hope all are well.

Fife,

I've been lurking lately.  Been super busy these last several months.  Got engaged last month.

I've been wondering where Sturgeon Phish is too.  I don't have his contact info, and with the large amount of Flyer I just took in, I could use his help.

Oh, and I almost crossed paths with Banks at Toy Town in Berlin, MD last week.  That's a must visit for anyone interested in postwar Lionel/ Flyer, or other toys.

Hello,

Today was a blah day at work.  I have many projects to finish but I didn't make much headway on any of them.  I kept getting distracted with other people's issues.  The youngest is recovering nicely, and the wife made pot roast for dinner.  I should be off to bed now.  I hope you all had a great day.

Good evening all,

Fairly busy day at work.  Potential trouble possibly brewing on the horizon or it may be nothing.  Can never tell with the cast of characters I deal with.  Humidity gone.  Did very little tonight.  Banks, yes that is it and I see it is not worth much either.  Thanks for the update and I was hoping I could retire on that item.  LOL.  Last game of the summer season tomorrow night.   Work continues on the room addition.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

]Morning Boyz & Gurlz.

Back from my morning walk and fixed coffee for SWMBO. Gotta be out the door by 6:30 for my walk since this humidity has been around, can't get around the humidity but at least I can beat the the sun.

Dinner Yyummm, egg salad. Sometimes when our daughter comes out for a visit I fix some. Seems as though we are the only ones in our respective housholds who like it, same with Scrapple. Unfortunately the only place that carried scrapple discontinued it.  Sigh

Gas prices continue to rise in SoCal, they are saying that the price could go to $5+/gal pretty soon.  Grumpy

Banks, Continued prayers for your sister-in-law. Angel

Gotta scoot, later all !

fife... Flyer did make some DC engines but most are AC and will run with any transformer. A DC motor will sit there and chatter on AC so shut it down.

Did I miss something or hopefully Chuck just ran out of Cheerios.

Good evening all,

Hot again today.  Very quiet day at work, which was good as my innards were paying for Saturday big time.  Recovered enough to practice with the soccer kids.  Banks, it took me a while to make the connection, but I take it you like Gilbert HO.  What do you know about an HO coal loader from the late 50s?   I have had it a long time.  I read one time (I thought) that it might be rare.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Hello there,

Back from the beach! !!!

Had a nice visit with Fife and family.  Fifemax and the Fife kids wore out the dogs. They barely moved the rest of the way home.  Really enjoyed his layout. Look'n forward to seeing it in CTT..  Kinda dragging here. Got home late and had some things to do. When I did stop it took a while for the Sweet Tea to wear off.

It rained just about every day while we were away. The crops have the unusual problem of too much water.  The hay should have been cut weeks ago and is really going backwards. The TV weather guesser said tonight we will have 4 days without rain the end of the week .  First time in I forget how long.

Work wasn't as crazy as I feared

Mrs' sister is still hanging on.  Thanks for your prayers.

Think I'm going to feed the cows and go to bed soon.

Good evening,

The wife and I were up early as we had to get the youngest to the hospital at 0545.  The procedure went well and we were back home by 1230.  He is doing well and not behaving like a kid who had surgery this morning.  He can't sit still and wants to eat everything.  Our biggest challenge will be keeping him calm and on soft foods.  That is all we have going on here.  It's back to work tomorrow.

Good afternoon,

We just had a brief shower as soon as I finished cutting the last of the grass. We missed your rain Doug on the weekend. Today is the first time this year all of the wet spots in the yard had dried to where there was not standing water. The crops here look awful Banks.  The neighbor and I went to a motorcycle swap meet yesterday, 45 miles to the west and the crops there look great. The meet was not worth the drive.

V8, we have a LG 49" flat screen. I like it alot.

Aloha. Had a nice quiet weekend. It was very hot with lots of downpours to dodge. But I got caught up on yardwork - especially beating back the greenery which is growing like crazy with all the rain - and I tinkered a bit more with the electric mower. Toy train skills to the rescue!

Good evening all,

Disastrous race for AJ's team, but good one for American drivers as first 4 and 6 of first 7 were from the USA.  Ryan Hunter-Reay won in a Honda.  Wife and I finished up the Sherlock Holmes series and I finished loading up stuff in the contractor's dump truck for him to haul away.  Still very hot.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Evenin' boys, and a good one it has been.  Banks and his better half stopped by on their way back from the shore.  We played trains for an hour without any pile-ups.  Their doggies entertained fifemax, and the grandson wound up providing his own brand of "entertainment"... 'Twas great to see these fine folks once again, and look forward to more get-togethers when we move.

Good afternoon,

I survived the week with the in-laws out there in OK.  Actually, we always have a nice time with them.  We returned home around 2230 last night.  We had storms for about the last hour of our trip.  Earlier in the return trip, we stopped in Springfield, MO, so the wife could visit a Polish Pottery shoppe.  While there, I tried to visit a local hobby shop, Trainland, but it is closed until July 21st.  We're recovering today (of course it is storming again).  Tomorrow, the youngest goes in for his tonsillectomy.

That's it for now,

Joe

Hot and HUMID good morning.  Trying not to do much.  Watering Wifey's plants with sprinkler.  Had bit T.storm yesterday and got only a sprinkle out of it.  Lots of lighning.  Crazy.  North part of Town got poured on.  Other end of Town crews were still paving and striping.

Today is suppose to be the first non-town day I have had in a week.  We'll see.

Doug, get better.  No need to haul air around.

Hope all have a great week ahead.

92 yesterday, same for today.

Picked my first real tomato from the garden this morning. The weather in June kinda put them behind schedule. I'm working with a few others so my friend can have a modular layout till he makes room for his dream one.

Hello there,

Spent the last day of  vacation dealing with a severe dose of hives on Mrs. A trip to the local urgent care resulted in an injection and two scripts along with a recommendation to see an allergy doc when we get home.

Went to mass and did a little shopping afterwards. Then picked up take out from a local restaurant we like.  Going to watch sun set over the bay and start to get things ready to travel.

Thanks for the prayers. She needs all she can get.

Later

Good evening all,

Iowa race is on later.  Tossed the train table components out the upstairs window today.  Mowed the yard in the heat.   Survived.  Exhausted.  Slept this afternoon.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
