We just returned from church. It is raining off and on and if the temperature drops a bit, we could have some snow. We shall relax the rest of the day and watch some football later. The wife has a ladies' church function to attend this afternoon; otherwise, I would drive to the train show in Columbus.

My 3 year old Grandneice is here and we have been running trains all morning. I let her pick out what engines and cars she wants to run and what an interesting line up!
Fife: Johns-son's FTO likes him but he is not sure of the Chief. Lol. Btw, his FTO is thepresident of the PBA.

Sunny and high 50's yesterday and today. Took care of some outside jobs. One of them was to crawl under my ugly old truck to see what was making the wet spot on the driveway. Turns out it is the fuel pump. I thought about replacing it, but it still is not that warm, and there is still about 12 gallons of gas in the tank that will need to get stopped up somehow. Guess I'm getting old. I'll call the the mechanic and let them replace it in their heated garage and a lift.
My P.E. trolley finally arrived. Picked it up yesterday. Looks nice, though I have not run it yet.
Also picked up another repair job. This one is a Marx train 'that just stopped running'. I've got the locomotive and the transformer. I figures that since they are Marx products, there coulden't be much wrong. I was right. In about 10 minutes, I had found out that there was nothing wrong with the locomotive, but the transformer appears to have an intermittant contact between the wiper and the windings. Anybody out there ever had a Marx #309 transformer open? Looks like I've got to pull the control knob, then un-bend the four tabs holding the case in place.

LAZ - YESSS!
Whew! Train show over and would call it a big success. We had lot's o' kids, all ages, boys & girls, runin' trains with the Legacy base and new CAB-1Ls (These are Great). We ran mostly scale Lionel and I ran some scale K-Line, with the Vision Line Hudson (unfortunately the smoke unit gave up), the Milwaukee S-2 (also lost the smoke unit), UP Big Boy, etc in starring roles. Folks and kids get a real kick out of the Vision swinging bell And whistle 'steam' (which did not give out). Amazing how many people notice the whistle steam and bell. In the last year I had procured mint in box K-line scale detailed Hudson and Shay from long ago production. Both ran great out of the box with some lube.
We got the 8 x 20 set up in about 2 hours Fri night and we tore down and were out in 1 and 1/2 hours this afternoon. All in all a great day.

We're on a mission from "grits" boys... Grey and 30 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Today, I find myself having zero interest in watching this year's Super Bowl. Spent yesterday packing up North Pole layout. Wifey says keep it and add more levels next year (one of the few things she wants to go with us to Fox Hollow).
It 28 degree right now and it looks like it will be a mostly sunny day. I do not have work and the kids do not have school since it's a holiday. We should have a mostly relaxing agenda today perhaps I'll finish building the second benchwork table for the future layout.
Roy - That game was ugly and I turned it off. I know the Seahawks are good, but the Pats are rolling.
Mornin' Fellas1/2 day today. Was up till 4am fixing some data - that's what happens when my mind starts working a problem, I can't stop thinking about it till I get it solved. TheQ is off today for MLK Day, so we'll spend the afternoon doing Mommy and Daddy stuff. Yesterday Christina asked if we could set the trains up again. TheQ said 'NO! But maybe Daddy could get downstairs and finish his train garden.' All I need is time.

Aloha. Sunny and about 20 - which feels really warm. No one in the parking lot, on the train, in the Loop or in the office. It should be a quiet day then. I fixed up the layout backdrop curtain and generally spruced things up - Ivor is much happier. Maybe he'll get a work-out tonight as the rest of the family will be at a relative's house for a birthday party. Or maybe I should begin practicing the uke to play with Fife in the band...

Fife -- just give me a heads up for the first rehearsal, believe it or not, I still play every day, I still enjoy playing. At times I wish I still played on Saturday nights but that feeling doesn't last long. It was never a big deal getting home at 3:00 AM 40 years ago, now it would be a major problem I also share your feelings about the Super Bowl this year, if we had the grand kids here I would make sure we would go bowling instead. All of us went bowling Dec. 27 and we just had a great time.

Roy - you mentioned an 8 by 20 layout for a show. Did you do anything in the way of scenery?
The last couple of layouts I've done at the museum have been 9 by 18, made from 3' by 6' tables, basically just track to run trains. The next show I'm going to do, I want to add some sort of basic scenery. I'll probably start with grass matts and go from there.

Good Morning!!The weekend was pretty bad......Spent Friday afternoon futzing with Mom and Dad's new computerFINALLY everything works, took me all day...GF's car broke a motor mount Friday night and she went into panic mode, which set the tone forthe weekend. Left the dinner early as she was not feeling well and was in a sour mood forthe weekend. Had 3 shots at the dinner and we were at the hotel by 10. Sunday was a throw away day, got the rest of the Christmas stuff up in the attic and did a quick general clean up and put away laundry. Napped a bit as well. Fell asleep duringToy Train Revue 4.....I may get to finish that tonight, I have to go to a presentationat Boro Council at 7, should be done by 7:302 days at work.....same stuff...haha!!!Cloudy and 35 right now. Snow coming for tomorrow, the weather guys said 1-3", but they are usually wrong.

Aloha. A grey-looking day, but as Kev said, it's amazing how you adjust to the weather. It feels hot even. Supposed to snow a tad overnight. I think I'll walk down to the old Dearborn station at lunchtime to see if I can sneak into the clock tower today.

The BetterHalf and I have been down with the crud for the past couple weeks. Starting to get over it slowly, no flu just some other virus that was miserable. I had the flu shot and the Mrs didn't, my crud didn't seem as bad as hers even though we had the same thing so maybe the shot helped a little.
Hhmmm, the "Pot Band". I think that is one group I will not be in a hurry to hear.
Speaking of ice cream, I searched hi-n-lo around here and could not find any eggnog ice cream this year, bummer. Did make some eggnog shakes though, yumyum. Now the eggnog is all gone til next year, should have picked some up and put it in the freezer.
After an extended absence from the museum I made it down yesterday to help with the "Kid's Club Fun Run". Not near as many participants as normal, all went well with no crashes.
Fife, Getting close to "short timers" days.
Friday I will be "Chef-du-jour" at the museum so I just might introduce these guys to "Coney Islands" made with Cincinnatti Chili. Wonder how that would taste for making Chili-Burgers ?
Gotta get off my duff and get to work.

Doug, I had the same problem in the L.A. area trying to find eggnog ice cream. Somebody really screwed up this year. Never found any.

It was definitely warmer here today; pretty sure it was in the 50s. I had a nice 5-mile run before going to work. The workday was uneventful and I came home to a gread dinner: pork schnitzel w/gravy and oven-baked mashed potatoes. We did have salad and green beans to balance it out. It's time to get the kids ready for bed now.

Thanks for the response, Joe. It was good to see him. Hopefully he will be out in September and life will be back to normal. Work was incredibly busy today as we got a set of labs going back a few months. At least the weather for the walk was nice today. Light switch quit on me out in the barn and I have to fix that sometime as well. Perhaps it may be the 5 minute job it should be. Also got a state revenue dept letter saying we owe $37 from 2011. At least our gas bill was only $60 this month (less than our electric!) As always, life is interesting. The Flash was good tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.

Yatchet apparently has a bad cockpit drain hose, letting rain water in. Pump frozen, so evacuated bilge manually. Need just a touch of mild weather to repair. No time soon.....
