Buckeye..... I left it out in the rain and I think it caught warp-itis.
Good Afternoon!
Getting ready for the Big Storm. 6-8" was the latest prediction. Went to a small local train show with my son this morning. It was empty and the prices were down. Some of the regular vendors were not there. I did pick up some parts.
Joe D: Glad you are coming back to the States. Maybe see you in York in October.
Fife: Prayers for Kelly's Aunt.

Good evening all,
Sleet, freezing rain, snow, we are getting it all. Stayed home today. Ordered license plate tags today online and federal forms to do taxes. I know most people do taxes online or thru preparers, but I am old fashioned and stubborn enough to do my own on paper. IRS sends forms and instructions for free so no big deal Wife is knee deep in Oscar watching tonight so I can work on other stuff. I see where Princess Sparkle Pony had another "great" day. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Home again. Didn't take time to sign on at hotel and read.
Some icy stuff [mainly sleet] due tomorrow PM.
Thanks Don for getting this month's Pot started.

Hello all
Well we got at least 2 ft of snow on site last night. The road is plowed out to at least one lane. They will prob do some more cleanup tomorrow, which means I try to fall asleep to diesels and backup alarms.
Troubleshooting a new receiver this weekend. It has been entertaining to say the least.
Joe - glad to hear you are coming back to the states. Would like to see the AF museum someday.
Chuck - I think the snow cannon got bent into a horseshoe yesterday:)
Will try and finish up the director's American Flyer and then maybe try out the Lionel coupler conversion on the Marx 666.

Evening FellasFife - sorry for your and Kelly's loss. Prayers for you guys during this trying time. Garage doors have been ordered, install date 3/10 or 3/14. We went with the dealer from Friday getting Clopay doors. Spoke with him about Wayne Dalton and he confirmed what the other dealers are saying, and they no longer install or service Wayne Dalton residential doors. Seems WD was the first to manufacture an insulated door with polyeurethane, seems the doors had issues with the foam separating from the steel, this caused issues ranging from rattling to mold. I asked him what the difference was between their Clopay doors and the ones sold at Home Despot. He said "Nothing. Other than we are offering a free upgrade to their commercial grade hardware, and we will remount your garage door openers because they aren't mounted with strong enough material. And we service what we install, you don't know who will install your doors if you get them from Home Depot." Very honest guy.I'm staying out of the Amish stuff. My ancestry is PA Dutch (similiar to Amish & Mennonite, I actually have family that are practicing Mennonites). All I will say is every community is different, while they follow 'common' beliefs they are 'implemented' differently between communities. Amish will work for The English (as we are referred to by them), but they keep their distance. As for that TV show... if it were real The Lancaster County Police Department wouldn't have much trouble prosecuting them since they have all the video evidence they need.

What was predicted around 10" of snow has been downgraded to about 8" or maybe 6". Probably a delayed opening tomorrow.
Banks - You are correct about NavyJack. March 8, 2011.

After three days of much needed rain on and off here in Southern California, all is quiet tonight.
Went out to eat with our widowed friend tonight. I ordered a soup, salad, and sandwich trio which tuned out to be a bad choice. Soup was OK but the sandwich which was billed as a turkey sand on a crissant roll was actually lunch meat turkey cut up and put on a roll with a lot of lettuce. Big disappointment. Saved the day by stopping at Baskin Robbins on the way home for ice cream sundaes.
Saw what was left of the Oscars when we got home. Did'nt matter much though because I didn't know any of the winners anyhow.
Watched Captain Phillips with Tom Hanks on DVD this afternoon. Lot of suspense. I guess that guy who played the leader of the pirates, did win best supporting actor but I got home too late to see that.
later,

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,
Everyone appears to be well out here now. I had a good 8-mile run this morning in some cold, rainy weather. The first two miles were rough but after that it was a great run. I pushed out a lot of paperwork at the office today and then came home to a great dinner: meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I need to catch up on some reading after the kids go to sleep tonight.
Fife and Hudson John – I would love to make it to York in October, but this October the wife and I will celebrate 20 years of wedded bliss. For the past year we have been discussing an anniversary getaway but it didn’t include York. I’ll have to see on the timing of these events. If it doesn’t happen in October, April will be doable.
SJ and Chuck – The snow cannon’s misfires/bent barrel will work out greatly to my benefit.
Buckeye – I cannot wait to be back in an area with regular train shows. Does Dayton have any O gauge/scale or toy train clubs?
Bob – The museum will definitely be a regular venue for us. I have never been to it but have heard only great reviews about it.
Banks/AF Ray – I cannot believe NavyJack passed away three years ago.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill..........
Good Morning, Joe........
It is a very cold and windy 11 degrees. Going up to 22 today with no snow. Thank goodness.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores and some paperwork to do. Then, I can relax and do some reading. Lunch and a nap, later.
Usual breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Monday.

Joe, Exciting news on the move to Ohio. We'll only be a stones through apart and no longer a world away!

Just a quick sip before I go find a pillow.
Found a helium car circa MPC era to go with the 'custom' Navy train I am trying to put together. I have never been into the few sets they put out and they also never did a steam set. So far I have a Lionel Adriatic in gray UP colors, the submarine car, now the helium car, and a tender and caboose that will need some haze gray paint. The helium car is yellow and will also go into the paint shop. Eventually I'd like to find another grey flat car to put a deuce and a half on in memory of my Seabee days.
Eventually I'd like it to have it's own shelf w/ dedication to NavyJack. Although from different eras, we had a number of things in common.
Aloha. Happy to be back in the office - but not happy because it is snowing like crazy in downtown Chicago. I had a bit of a disaster with my cardboard extensions for more farm acreage. They all curled up something awful when I was ready to glue on the ground foam. Of course due to the washing I gave them to get all the glue off. So I will try flattening them with weights over the week, and hope not to get rid of the furrows.. Bob, that Navy train sounds great! I've always like the sub and helium cars. What do you do when the mountain gets all that snow? Does the observatory have a plow? Or are the staff snowed in for a while?Joe, I've always wanted to visit the museum in Dayton. MikeC, I laughed when you mentioned the Princess. I must say I am happy to see Junior off to such a good start - a win and a 2nd place.

Late morning hello. Raining hard. Suppose to turn to sleet and then freeze. ????? 36 now.
Fifedom, condolences.
Joe, OH NO!!! Another Ohiozen. Please help me. Too many rascals now.
Banks, get the cows in the barn. Hope this long winter does not replenish the feed and hay.
Read to the elementary school kids this AM. They can ask some funny questions. One asked if I arrived in a limo. Was telling them about reading 30 Seconds Over Tokyo when I was 12. How I felt I was in the plane with Doolittle. Then I was asked if I was in WWII?
Ray, try to stay inside. Know John is glad he has retired.
Hope all have a good one.

Mornin' fellas and gals; Gee' that's swell news Joe! If you get to go see the Bronx bums, I am just 45 minutes from the stadium on interstate Rt. 80. Would be great if we could hook up somehow. August is such a short time away; kids must be exited to get back to the land of the free and the home of the brave! later.
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Phillyreading, hope it stays that way. Ft. Lauderdale Friday afternoon thru Sunday PM.
Sleeting and dropped to 30 so fast. Went and changed battery in deer feeder in the park about an hour ago. Was there five minutes and hands about froze [couldn't wear gloves to do the work]. Wind blowing and fine ice then.
Later.
Stayed home. Did clear off enough to go see LEGO movie. Good show. Lots of LEGO models. Fixed a small table. Took care of financial stuff. Back to work tomorrow. Sunny but very cold outside. I hope everyone has a good day.

Sleeted and then snowed. Highway covered but gone now. Humidity must be low as it just goes away. Windy now and cold.
Off to bed.
Sleep tight.
It was chilly this morning but my workout was in the gym so I missed out on it. The high reached the mid-40s and it was sunny most of the day. A couple of meetings and some paperwork capped off my workday and I picked up takeout for tonight’s dinner. We have no plans for the evening.
Charlie – I am looking forward to some rides on yours and SJ’s dog sleds.
Chief – Don’t worry, I don’t think living in Ohio for a few years will classify me as an Ohiozen. I’m still true to my Pennsylvanian roots.
traindood – I’m sure we can work something out. Maybe even AF Ray as well. I’ll let you know when we travel that way. Yes, August is only four months away and I’m sure it will be here quickly.
Buckeye – Thanks for all the great information and the invite.
Sayonara,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill........
Good Morning, Joe...........
It is a cold 5 degrees. Going up to 35 today with sunshine.
Today is a very busy day. I have an early errand to run and then, the usual chores to do. Then, some paperwork and phone calls. And it will be lunchtime. Of course, a nice nap.
Dining car has rolled in with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Slippery good morning. Roads are a little icy due to late [early in the AM] snow and sleet. Sun is out so melting will begin. Showers off an on this week.
Not much happening today. Kids to the groomer's as soon as roads melt. Finish unpacking, wash clothes for Friday's trip to FL. and do reports [to get paid].
Stay warm.
Another fairly quiet night on the mountain.
So JoeD is from PA? Somebody might wanna tell the Chief that there is a small town there called Gettysburg
8N - the Marx conversion wasn't too bad. $7 and bend 4 tabs over the axles. Sits a tad high, but seems to work fine.
I thought of using one of my Lionel tenders, but all of mine are pretty durn big for the Marx locos.
Aloha. Cold and grey. Snowed again overnight. What else is new? Good first day back in the office yesterday with a long church meeting last night. Bob, I like how that looks. Since I usually don't swap out my cars, I used a black piece of yarn to tie Marx / Lionel cars together. Gave me some realistic if exaggerated 'slack'. It was easy to cut too. Chief, we had a little school library with paperback versions of WW2 stories - I remember reading 30 Seconds Over Tokyo too.
Mornin' fellas and gals; Hey Buckeye; Swell video of your layout. Especially like the Hell Gate bridge. I spent a lot of time teaching safety courses on Randall's Island that the bridge goes over to connect with Queens N. Y. Hey Joe; Not sure if i want to get outnumbered by pinstriped fans. I have enough lumps on my head! later.
Good morning all,
Looks like we're in for cloudy weather for the week. Just looks gray outside but I know you get a lot of that in the East. Unusual for here. We're spoiled!
Wife and I are going crazy trying to keep up with paper work for medicare, doctors, hospitals, taxes etc. Maybe I should hire a book keeper or something. Wife has done it for years but she is having memory problems now so I am taking a more active role. I takes both of us to keep things straight.
V8, yes falls are our biggest fear as seniors. I have known more than one that was done in by a broken hip or something. That reminds me, I have to get some safety bars installed to get in and out of the tub/shower. Just don't know exactly where to put them. Need to see some pictures of typical installations. We know a guy who will install but he wants us to tell him where to put them and buy the hardware ourselves.
Grandson is off on another trip this week with the high school orchestra up the coast from us around San Simeon (Hearst Castle) where they will play a concert. He is in his junior year now.
Got another invite from a relative to join Linkedin, another network of some kind but I declined because my computer is already overtaxed because of it's age and I don't have the time to take on anymore networks. I'm not on facebook either. Probably missing a lot but can't do everything.
Got an E mail from Advantage frequent flyer miles about sharing miles with others. Don't know what that's all about. I took my son with me on a trip back East over a year ago and was able to use my miles to pay for his ticket too with no charge for handling. Now it looks like they want some kind of fee for putting miles in someone else's account but that's a different story. when I did it, it was all on my own account.
Had homemade boneless pork ribs last night and chopped them up like Carolina Bar-B-Que. Tasted real good with vinegar and pepper flavor and cole slaw. Might make some more cole slaw today with a cabbage I have. Would have been better with hush puppies. Chief knows what I am talking about.
