cnw1995Ray, there were all sorts of music venues along the River Walk. I will have to look that up
Doug, sounds like a fun place. Jim Cullum was a cornet player that followed his father's footsteps in traditional jazz. I have some of his albums including one about Hoggy Carmichael's tunes. They had an announcer on the radio show who's name escapes me but I have also seen him hosting shows about tourist railroads. He is also a musician himself. I hope Jim is still around. Some of those old jazz musicians never retire, they just don't show up for a gig one day.
Buckeye, sorry about the kitty. Sounds like a neat cat. The story about the cat walking in an open door and sacking out on the bed is proof that if you want to find the most comfortable place in a house, just follow the cat.
D. Baker, I have a hard time figuring out what some of you senior members have been up to. A lot of that stuff probably just went right over my head.
What about Chief and Buckeye being related? Is that just another vicious rumor?
DIL and son have invited us to go out for lunch one day this week. Originally on Wednesday but that has been cancelled due to possible thunderstorm but Tuesday is no better with showers forcast. My grandson (16) wants to fly his radio controlled plane early on the same day whenever it is but I passed on the invite for that one due to lack of rest room facilities at the flying club. Might be OK but just don't want to be stuck down there. When you have Crohns disease, you have to know where every rest room in town is. Most of the time, I'm OK but I keep the scout motto, "Be prepared".
Two train meets coming up this weekend. TCA Saturday and TTOS on Sunday. Theme for TCA meet is remembering former member, Ward Kimball of Disney fame. We all have our favorite stories about him. He was really a character and missed by the train collecting fraternity. R.I.P. Ward.

Had to open glass to door in greenhouse. Fan running constantly [set on 90 degrees]. Guess I'll mow grass after lunch [no joke].

Aloha. Back to work. Nice Opening Day for the White Sox. Couldn't justify taking another day off for it. Hope the windy-ness holds off. Bob, the youngest (with some supervision) built a beautiful wooden 2 masted sailing ship christened Smbob this weekend. Photos to follow.

Hello all
Another quiet night on the mountain. More are coming tomorrow though.

Continuing work on this little wood model of the Charles W/ Morgan whale ship. The balsa sure soaks up a lot of sealer, but I am liking the way it is looking.

Good Evening !
Got the train house for Bob finished yesterday. He seemed very pleased with it. He took it home and I assume he got it there OK, I haven't heard anything. Spent today working on the B29, its coming along fine.
Now regarding the Dusenberg....
1. Who would name a cat "Dusenberg" ?? I mean really, talk about animal abuse!
2. Now I was gullible, I admit, but then.....
3. Then, after I had realized I had been duped, I thought now what do I do. So I decided that the best thing to do is "PLAY ALONG" with the whole thing. So I did.
AND LASTLY, NOT ONLY ARE THEY THE SENIOR MEMBERS ON THIS FORUM. BUT THEY ARE RELATED !! I WILL PROBABLY BE BANISHED FOR REVEALING THIS, BUT ITS TRUE! I FOUND OUT WHEN THE CHIEF WAS HERE.
But I do have to admit initially they got me, and what had initially convinced me was the fact that Chuck participated in the initial effort.
IF IT HADN'T BEEN FOR THE INVOLVEMENT FROM CHUCK, I WOULD HAVE JUST CONSIDERED IT NORMAL BATTERING BETWEEN BUCKEYE AND CHIEF.
So that's the whole story about the Dusey, (sorry about the loss of the cat.)
Don
Evenin' All.
Great way to veg out today, first the Cats won (once a hillbilly always a hillbilly) followed up by a Padres win. Two days in a row just flat wears me out.
Buckeye, That running gag was a real Duesey. Condolences.
The "BetterHalf" was cleaning up some old paperwork today and came across a receipt from when our daughter was born. Late 60's and I was stationed at Reese AFB at the time. The total bill for the 5 days was $8.75. We both had a chuckle over that.

Hello there
Back from Indiana. The new (to us) camper is in the driveway. Mrs & I along with the dogs traveled I70 westbound yesterday through Heavy rain , wind and then snohio . When we got to Richmond Indiana it was back to rain. Today's return trip was much more relaxing but the wind made you pay close attention to driving. We left at 6:45 this AM and got to our driveway about 7:30 PM. We took our time and had a leisurely lunch at Quaker Steak & lube near Wheeling WV. Then spent a while touring the Cabella's next to it. Also a couple other stops for breakfast and gas.
I thought of Buckeye and Chuck on the way back. How close are you to I-70?
I'm bushed, I'll catch up later. Off to bed.
Prayers for those in need

Good evening all,
It is sunnier and warmer today, but still only in the 50s. Watched the Indycar race. Will Power won. Sato slipped to 7th after dominating the first stint, still tied for 6th in points. Not much else going on. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Aloha! It is sunny! And almost 50! And almost April. Back to 30s next week - although 60s are forecast for the Sox home opener tomorrow. Will this winter ever end? Coldest Nov-Mar in local history. 2nd most snow - something like 87 inches of snow this year - the record is 89...Spring is shot. Looks like a historically cold summer is coming up too. Ah well.
Ray, there were all sorts of music venues along the River Walk. I will have to look that up.RIP Dusenberg. I was wondering if your beloved canine was connected to the Auburn museum - a wonderful place to visit!
ChiefEagles Buckeye, it was funny. While I was in Cerritos, he kept asking. I was really laughing. I kept saying, now you know he doesn't have one. I've been in his garage. Then he mentioned you might have inherited it. I kind of played along then.

Yea, that was funny. When are we going to tell Don Baker I actually live in Charlotte, NC instead of Rogers Corners?

Good Sunday Morning All!
Work work work. I guess it's all good but it seems like there is no end. Went to a Greenberg show in Edison yesterday with HudsonJohn, his two friends and Johnson. Saw a lot but bought nothing. I guess I'll wait for York.
Not much talk about March Madness? I've seen some great games. Last night Arizona and Wisconsin went into overtime with Wisconsin winning.
Spanky - Happy belated birthday!
Jon - Grandkids are the best, congratulations!
Brent - It's not about hurting anyone's feelings when they make these film, they will do whatever it takes to turn a buck. Nice pics BTW.

Chief, Of all of the things we have done on the Pot, the Duesenberg fiasco had to be one of the most fun. I remember Chuck was one of the first who asked me if I had a Duesenberg after I wrote something innocuous about her. It was then I realized that if I had fooled Chuck, then most everyone else had not understood it to be a black cat. Chuck and I then agreed to take it from there to perpetuate the nosiness of the Pot. I'm surprised the Shake and Bake didn't believe the story. He is the only one that fell off the train.
So how did we name a black cat, "Duesenberg"? Mrs. Buckeye and grew up in Auburn, IN and this website gives you "supposed" gear heads the answer. http://www.automobilemuseum.org/ I would highly recommend if you love the classic cars you visit the museum. You will not be disappointed and will see the Duesenbergs.
Mornin' FellsBeen very busy the past week as my co-worker was out on vacation... makes things rough for me the last week of the month but I pulled through. Going to be some long hours this coming week as well as we are rolling out a major enhancement as well as importing data from two companies we purchased.Thought I would post some updated pictures of the kiddos. Would be awesome if The Eagle would come to Baltimore this season. Haven't seen it since it was in Philadelphia in the early 1980s. Very impressive ship.Jon - Congrats on the granddaughter!Don - glad you make it without damage.SJ and Buckeye - we weren't close to setting any records this year, but we did have snow after 3/14 for the first time ever in DC.Not sure I want to see Noah, I have read some really horrendous things about this film. I am not a Bible thumper, but the story has been written for hundreds of years and for some atheist to take it and twist it just really bothers me. Really do not know why so many people who do not Believe feel so threatened by Christianity. I have no problem with you not believing, but I do have a problem with you taking our religion and twisting it into something it is not, and taking our Book of Faith and rewriting so a point that you are simply making fun of what it says.

Mornin' boys. Had to work a 5k foot race this AM. With a driving rain, was more like a bi-athalon. Then ventured down and pumped out the bilge on the yatchet. The cabin sole still hasn't settled down, but a boating buddy said hold off until we hit a good dry spell to see what happens. It's Fifegranny's birthday, so I'll be tuning up the ukulele tonight.
Chief - Thanks for the link. I did check the EAGLE's schedule, and it will be sailing up the Chesapeake late August.
Mornin' fellas and gals; Rain, rain go away, come again another day. I know ya'all are sitting on the edge of your seats for another dam update; so here goes. Last week the crew has dumped about 400 truck loads of large coarse stones on both sides of the dam. It was a symphonic clanging cacophony of loud melodically falling material punctuated only by the even louder noise when the trucks dropped their bodies back down on their chassis. All this started at around seven a.m. and lasted all day. Oddly enough my two dogs who usually bark at the noise of a dragon fly landing on a leaf never barked at all. later.
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Terrible winter here too.
90+ inches of snow, less than an inch from an all time record snow season.
Average season is 37 inches of snow. Also the 8th coldest on record.

Morning all. Cloudy, windy and chilly [not like it has been though]. Being lazy today. Wired up an ERR kit. No response. Rechecked wiring. All right. To tired [especially eyes] to mess with it more. I let it rest over night. Will check it again. Would not be the first bad board I have gotten from them. Getting 18V to the board. Seems nothing coming out.
The big snows and bad temps on you Yankees is a REB thing getting even. Big problem. It backfired on us and we got some of the same.
Hope all have a great week. Thanks to Buckeye and all you workers for the SS $$$$ to our account.
Buckeye Riveter It is official!!! Roger's Corners, Ohio has had the second snowiest winter season on record. We had another three inches last night just to put icing on the cake. The wind is blowing from the north to make it that more uncomfortable at the beach today. If I wanted to live in Alaska, I would have moved there!

That's why Chief lives in N.C. and I live in S.C.
Morning all Not a lot going on here today going to the flea market to pick some of my items up I was letting a guy try to sell for me but got thinking I can do better selling my self so I have rented a booth for April so far but will do at least 3 months to give it a fair shot. I will sell trains and wife basically knick knacks. I'm also looking into selling other items train related time will tell.
May have to get my brother in WA. to help me set up a website ( he's a IT tech well both are actually or where I should say oldest is now retired)
Hope all been doing well.
Buckeye we have 2 solid black cats one is shadow( alias the possum) she's my cat she puts up with donna but that's about it lol Then there's midnight now he's ( to the best we can figure) is 19 years old. if Donna is up he thinks she needs to be holding/carrying him now he loves everybody he hasn't met a person he didn't love lol. We lived in FL and where renting this house he just showed up one day at our front porch and donna about 2 - 3 weeks later stepped out to get some air didn't shut door tight ( I was watching TV in the house) he just walked in went right to our bedroom climbed up on our bed and went to sleep. We just look at each other and said well I guess we have been adopted lol. that was like 1996 and he was already right at a year old or so. I will really miss him he is such a lover. He's doing okay now but know its just a matter of time.
Well its a beautiful Sunday only getting up to 68 today but its windy but tomorrow we will be back in the high 70's and suppose to be low 80's the rest of the week
It was a hard week. Many of you already know that we had to put the Duesenberg to sleep. Duesenberg, Mrs. Buckeye's shinny black cat was the basis of the rumor that I owned a classic Duesenberg automobile. Chuck and I played this rumor to the hilt for about two years here on the forum. Finally, the Chief caught on, but he didn't tell anyone that it was a cat not a car.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill........
Good Morning, Joe.....
Well, here we go again. 2 inches of snow last night. It is 30 degrees and going up to 46 today with sunshine. HUH?
Today is an easy day. I plan on watching the Nascar race and relax. A few chores to take care of. Lunch and a nap, later
Usual breakfast on the dining car.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,
I guess the weather cannot make up its mind; it is raining today and a few degrees cooler than yesterday. We had Sunday school and church this morning and this weather is making it a great afternoon to read and work on a crossword puzzle. For dinner, I’m either going to grill (yes, in the rain) steaks or bratwurst. I’ll probably catch baseball’s opening day game tomorrow morning while I’m in the office.
SJ – Thanks for the info on Jeffrey. I hope he recovers well.
Mike C. – Thanks for providing the brief review on Noah. That’s pretty much what I heard about it as well; I suppose I’ll check it out when it comes out on DVD because I think Russell Crowe is a good actor.
Doug M. – I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to San Antonio. We have visited that city plenty of times (including basic training). The Riverwalk is fun and has plenty of good food. Austin was a neat place to visit as well.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good night all. Got a good washing from big storms and a tornado bouncing around in parts of the neighboring counties and this county. Missed us by miles but we were under warning. Passed close to Frankie's and Cathy's houses. Think they are OK. Frankie working and Cathy said all OK. [her house is sold and she is moving near me . Daddy come fix. ] Some damage in one subdivision in Garner NC. Folks took shelter in big box isle floors and walk-in freezers.
