Cloudy, drizzle and in the 40's today. Good proper November weather.
I stopped by Menards after work today to get a few odds and ends. I also wandered through the Christmas section and saw a flat car with truss load. The price was not bad, so I bought it. The package says that only 996 were made. This one is #236.
I got the blocks set up on my P.E. layout and mocked the wiring for my voltage dropper. Works well. I can get a transformer setting that allows hands off running up hill and down hill. The only oddity is a surge on the low voltage block as the train enters it. Since the baby Madison coaches have a pick up on each truck for the lights, I think that the voltage in the low voltage block is raised momentarily when the car bridges the blocks. I suppose I could disconnect one truck on the coaches to get rid of the surge.
I also finally got around to looking at my MPC era baby Hudson that decided to quit running at the train show a couple of weeks back. Found that the screw holding the ground wire to the frame was loose, and that one of the brushes was sticky in its brush holder.
About all for now.
Good Evening,
All is fine here, just watching days go by. Great to have cast off, running around with a walker, and going to physical therapy.
Stay healthy and have a great day.

Finally home. Cold and windy. I see they let Buckeye back into Buckeyeland. Out early tomorrow AM. Busy day. Think I am "off" Friday. Later.

Aloha. Sunny and cold here too. I had a quiet evening doing household stuff and watching a few shows with my youngest. I realized he'd never seen Star Trek so I had to rectify that fatherly failing immediately. We watched an episode of the original series, and then one on the 'science' behind Doctor Who.Rich, the museum doesn't have a trust for it but they have a bunch of expert volunteers with access to equipment and poles so they'll get to fixing them before it gets too cold. Saw some of those battery powered Lionel PolEx sets for super-cheap at a local bookstore. Will grab one and then find a nice kid to give it to this season.

Have a good one.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill...........
Good Morning, Joe......
It is a cold 29 degrees. Sunny. Going up to 49 today with sunshine.
Today is an easy day. We need it. I have a few chores to do and then I will relax and do some reading. Lunch and a nap, later.
Cheerios on the dining car for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.

quick post - working
Sunny and cold here in Central NJ
Demay - congas on the promotion
Doug - does the museum have a trust so they can repair the poles?
Found my lamp posts in the larger WalMart, Micheals selection wasn't anything I gotta have. The new Firehouse looks good but nothing that stands out....
Firehouse decoration day is Friday, Layout day is Saturday in the firehouse. I have to work and may get to the firehouse the Friday after T-day just in time, need to make the layout firman prrof so it can be moved.
Back to work!

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,
It was a bit cooler today with less sunshine. The day was uneventful until the 10 y/o son decided to fall and hurt this thumb. After 90 minutes at the urgent care clinic, we learned it is a light sprain. We missed flag football practice, but fortunately my assistant coach was able to handle it. I'm not sure if he will be able to play this Saturday. My assistant coach's son sprained his ankle yesterday so we could be down two players for this game, or longer.
Chuck - Thanks for the link. I will need to check our television schedules for it. I'm sure I'll have to record it due to the time difference.
Mike C. - I'm glad you enjoyed the concert.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good morning all,
Brief review of the concert. Wow! Great show. I had forgotten how much fun a concert is. All three acts were entertaining. Selena is not the most blessed in the talent area, but she does well with what she has, and so far in her career has been a class act. No foul language and there were lots of parents/grandparents there with kids. You do need ear protection as it does get loud.
Good evening all. We just approved a new subdivision with high dollar homes. Means more Yankees moving to Roseyville. Fine with me. We take their money and turn their kids into little REBS.
Busy day Mayoring tomorrow. Even into the night.
Sleep tight.
Aloha. A cold, sunny, hopefully quiet day. That last play on MNF was certainly suspect. I guess no one wants to throw a flag in that situation. The Alaska rail show looks neat. Some damage from Sunday's storms on the Illinois Railway Museum.
Morning and did it change temps. Sunny and chilly. Colder tomorrow but high 60's to 70 by weekend.
Haircut this morning. Letter to write for TWC guy. Town Board meeting tonight.
Hurricanes lost last night but who cares. Wings, bar-be-que and etc. all you could eat. Got to walk it off this afternoon.
PS: friend Fred went to farm deer hunting yesterday. Did not see a single deer. Not far from the farm last night, hit one with his Ranger pickup. Had to use chain to pull fender off of tire so he could hobble home.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill............
Good Morning, Joe..........That Alaska Railroad program was pretty good. They have a 105 Howitzer to create an avalanche, rather than have it stop a train. I'll post the webpage later. Some short videos on it.
It is a cloudy 35 degrees. Going up to 42 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have a lot of things to do until lunchtime. Then, I can take a nice nap.
Dining car has the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
It was another sunny fall day here; the high was in the low 50s. I enjoyed a brief 3-mile run this morning as well as some weight training at the gym. The workday was pretty uneventful and I was home a few minutes early. I was able to watch some of the MNF game while at the office. That last play was definitely pass interference and should have been called, but I was glad to see NE lose. We went out for dinner tonight and the wife and I both had filet mignon that was extremely tasty.
Chuck - I forgot to ask, how was that Alaska RR special you watched?
Work was busy. Some snarls with paper work got me behind on work, but I got mostly caught up. May not post tomorrow night as I have no idea what time I may get home after Selena Gomez concert. So looking forward to seeing a concert again.
V8Vega Ray I assume there is a open end spur they can tie the temporary track to to get it on the mainline. Dennis, they used to have a switch there and a spur but it was taken out many years ago. Now in order to get the Big Boy back on the main track, they will have to open up the main track, bend it over and tie onto the temporary track from the fairground. This will take some careful planning so as not to delay Metrolink trains. Maybe they will do it in the middle of the night but I have no confirmation of that so far. They also have to get a diesel engine and caboose that U.P. is donating back to the museum. I heard they may be able to pick the diesel up with some kind of intermodal crane and walk it over to the museum tracks. Same thing with the caboose. Otherwise they would have to build the leap frogging track again back to the museum. I don't think they want to do that. They had to put in the track for the Big Boy move because it is too heavy. However, I did see a picture put out by Trains Magazine of another Big Boy that was moved on a giant flatbed trailer. That's not going to happen here. I was out to the fairground again yesterday afternoon and saw them move the engine again for another 400 ft or so. It was the second move of the day. First time they have done more than one move a day. A friend of mine has two antique cars. A 50 Olds and a 50 Plymouth. He spotted them next to the Big Boy yesterday for pictures. They looked right at home with the steam engine behind them. I guess our Fall is here now. Cold this morning when I was out walking. Had to wear a coat for the first time this Fall. later, Ray

Aloha. Sunny and windy in Chicago. Lotsa of spectacular clouds scudding across the skiy to points east. I am back from a 'whirlwind' visit to my daughter who is trying to start her adult life in Ann Arbor, MI. Certainly saw a lot of deer lashed to vehicles on the way out. Ann Arbor seems like a nice town. Battled all the storms and wind and rain on the way back. Looks like the storms helped the Bears too - the delay certainly helped me dodge traffic on the way home through the city. I don't know what is with the turf at Soldier Field - it always shreds, but I like to see the mud. Ray, thanks for the update on the Big Boy. I've seen some photos but couldn't figure out how they were moving it.
Morning. Warm and showers [gone mostly]. Out the door for the walk. Then get ready for a day full of Mayor stuff [lunch meeting, County Commissioners and hockey game {suite and free food and drink }]. This week is mainly Mayor's stuff.
Prayers for those who got hit by the bad storms.
Have a great week.
Good Morning, Joe..........
It is a cool 48 degrees. Sunny. Going up to 55 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. High winds last night but no damage, so far. I have a few chores to do and a project to work on. Lunch and a nap.
Prayers out to all the Folks caught in the storm.
Dining car has Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.
It was an extremely sunny day today and a bit warmer, but still cool enough to please me. I enjoyed a nice 5-mile run this morning before going in to work. I was able to catch the end of the SF-NO game as well as most of the KC-DEN game. I'm glad Denver won; I have nothing against KC, but as a Dolphins fan I always cheer against any undefeated team. We had flag football practice this evening and then roasted chicken and vegetables for dinner. I received the latest CTT (digital) this past Saturday and it looks like another winner.
Laz - Thanks. The team won this past Saturday. They played exceptionally well in the first half and opened up to a nice lead; however, they slacked off in the second half and let the other team make a game of it. Their play has improved and I am pleased with their progress.
Banks - I cannot wait to see updated photos of the PE layout.
Sunny, warm and windy here this weekend. Spent most of the weekend doing yard work. Even ended up collecting most of the neighbor's leaves. I was working on my yard today and noticed that leaves out of the neighbor's yard were blowing back into mine - where I had already cleaned up . The neighbor in question is a widow who spends most of her time visiting one or another or her kids. Her son was visiting this week, but did nothing with the yard.
I picked up a 2014 MTH catalog at the LHS this weekend. Nothing in it that I just have to have, though. The UP M-10000 looks really neat, but I don't have, or ever plan on having, a layout with 072 curves that it needs. I also brought a 4-4-0 HO scale General type locomotive home for a repair job. The LHS sold the loco as used to another customer. He brought it back saying that it did not run correctly. Looks to me like it took a trip off of the table at some point. I sure like my O gage stuff - I can see it to work on.
Got the P.E. layout set up in the dining room today too. Working on improvements to the scenery, adding a circle of track for the elf's hand car, tidying up the wiring to get better power distribution, include blocks to vary the voltage on the grades, and build a control panel to replace the TV tray we have been using.
All for now.
Tried to watch F-1 race. All the local channels went nuts on storm coverage. If Colts game had been on, would have had crawler on bottom of screen. Was able to watch it (sort of) on NBC.com. Ran HO stuff for a while. Not consistent enough for grandkids.
Afternoon. Sunny and real warm. Turning cloudy with a chance of showers tomorrow AM. Seems some folks in the mid part of US may get some bad stuff per our weatherperson. Hope not.
Joe, my assistant for years was a retired Air Force Chief Master Sargent. Outstanding guy. Why I hired him. Preferred vets and retired military.
Kind of a lazy day for me.
Later
laz 57RAY, I was watchin NHRA last Sunday and was wondering about the BIGBOY out there. How close to the tracks was it located? Was hoping to see it on TV. Did they begin movig it or is it still in the parking lot
The Big Boy 4014 is in the process of being moved. They started moving it last Thursday. It has moved a few hundred feet since then on temporary track which is parallel to the drag racing track. They put together all the prefab track panels they have which are close to 40 feet long each and then move the engine with the help of a big bucket loader with tow cable until they run out of track. Then they start the process all over again. It takes most of a day to lay what panels they have and make one move with the engine. It looks like it will take several days to get it to the main line on the North end of the racetrack. Then it will be picked up by a diesel on the Metrolink commuter line and hauled to the U.P. track which is a few miles away. From there it will be taken to West Colton, Calif. yard where they have an engine facility with a pit. They will inspect the engine and further prepare it for the long haul between Southern California and Cheyenne, Wyoming.
laz - I accidentally deleted your email before I got the chance to read same.
PS.
Ran trains on Friday nite, you guessed it NO PILE UPs!!!1

Hi GUYZ,
Computer was acting up and couldn't get on to this site. Been out doing lots o hunting in tree stand only to see lots o doe and turkeys out of bow range. Saw nice buck or two on way out driving truck. Now gotta wait til rifle season. Took my gal MINNIE DOG out for pheasants yesterday and she chased and caught a rabbit. She is way ahead of me this year in the poundage championship. She has caught 3 rabbits and 3 squirrels so far. Good dog and works the fields pretty good save for the pheasants, chases them to far out of shotgun range. I'll try for turkeys this week.
