Don....Congratulations on being back on your feet.   I must agree 100% with the Chief about the "normal".

I have been running trains all last night and all day today when we were not watching the train display at the library, eating hot dogs, sleeping, taking a nap or visiting the local train store.    Wow

Ray and Laz,

I posted Rays pictures of the BB in the Sunday Photo Fun thread of this past Sunday.

BTW,  I CAN WALK !!!!  NO CAST, NO WALKER, NO BOOT, JUST SHOES !!!!!  (as of today).

Thanks Don.  Laz says he saw them.  He probably saw them on your latest post.  Great news on your liberation from the cast and boots etc.  Just in time for the Holidays.  Wonderful!

My wife and I celebrated our 54th wedding anniversary yesterday.  We had dinner out last night to mark the occasion.  We didn't think years ago about it being so close to Thanksgiving which sort of gives it second billing each year.  We were married on Thanksgiving day that year (1959) in Las Vegas.  Who says that those marriages over there don't last?  At least ours did.

Big Boy moves in Pomona are complete now.  Next step will be when U.P. picks it up on Metrolink tracks before Christmas for the move to Cheyenne via West Colton and Cajon Pass.

Mornin' Fellas

Well so far we have escaped the 'Thanksgiving 2013 Nor-Easter', just a bunch of rain and lots of wind. Nothing we haven't seen and dealt with before.

I love how the Weather People keep hyping these storms. A few years ago we had over 40 inches of snow on successive weekends, to put it mildly - ain't NOTHING we can't handle. People just need to SLOW DOWN, be COURTEOUS, and PAY ATTENTION... oh wait...

Not sure I have relayed this one yet... but the other night I was driving home with Christina (The family met at a local eatery for dinner), TheQ had Matthew. So I start the conversation:

'Christina - do you know what happens next month?'
"Kissmas"
'Yes, and who comes Christmas Eve'
"Claus (she has taken to referring to people by one name, not two)"
'What does he do?'
"Brings presents"
'What do you want Santa to bring you?'
a bit of a pause
"A House, 2 cars, a doggie, a rabbit, an alligator, toys, candy, clothes, and presents"
'A house? To play in?'
"No! To live in."
'By yourself?'
"No! With Mommy, Daddy, and Matthew"
'But we already have a house'
"Mommy wants a new one" Confused
'2 cars? To push around the floor?'
"No! To DRIVE, like Mommy"
'Ummm... OK'

We are in so much trouble!!!!!

rainy and soggy now getting cold....

Princess has arrived for Turkey Day - I footed the bill for $500 and she leaves Friday Morning, but the FAMILY will be in and she will help cooking - just like when we were in Florida.  We'll have a great time, I know it.  So happy!!!

Need to get to FD tomorrow night and get set up for Parade Friday night, which means installing the batteries in all the street lights and getting the trains on the rails....couldn't hurt to get a test run or two in with the Princess!!

If I don't get back in, youse giz have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Good Morning, Joe...........

It is a snowy 28 degrees. Going up to 40 today with no more snow. We have about 3 inches on the ground. Staying home today and relaxing.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck,

Today was the last day before the four-day weekend so of course it was a little hectic.  We had flag football practice this evening but only five of the ten kids showed up.  I thought that might happen since tomorrow is Thanksgiving.  The wife and I prepped some more food for tomorrow, and the wife also made homemade cinnamon rolls which are fantastic.  The rest of the evening should be relaxing.

Banks – I hope your wife feels better.

Don B. – That’s great to hear.  Please don’t overdo it.

Chuck – My 3-year-old is notorious for hitting the Wi-Fi button.  Please aim the snow cannon for Japan.

Sunny and clod today.  Weather estimator figured a low in the low teens tonight.

Mr. Baker - that is great news!

Mr. Chuck - Oops.  Kind of reminds me of the time I had the carb. removed from my 8N tractor before I discovered that the gas tank was empty.

My DSL line is weird tonight.  I keep losing the connection and getting security certificate errors on the CTT web site.  Seems to have settled down for the moment.  Think I'll cycle the power on the modem before I turn in tonight - give it an electronic Gibbs slap.

Youse guys out east be careful in the weather.

All for now.

Good Evening from Blueberryhill....

Good Evening, Joe.......

I am back.  Cheer....Cheer.  Wife fixed my computer. It was not the router. I hit the wrong button and shut off the wifi .

Thanks for posting for me, Buckeye.  Do you like donuts?  I could go for a couple of nice cream filled ones.

It snowed here. Lots. Cannon is sideways. Need to aim south. Gotta get this thing sighted in. First I have to shovel it out of snow.

Well, I have to go for now, so see ya in the morning.

RAY, any pics of the BB?  Would like to see it, saw the one up in Steamtown 4012, about 5 yrs ago.  They had a small steam switcher in front of it to show the comparison.  Neat looking.

Laz, I'm sorry but being a simi computer illiterate, I'm no good at posting pictures on the internet.  However D.Baker did post some of my Big Boy pictures for me on coffeepot.freeforums.net.  Maybe you could get on that and check it out.   I did go by the fairground today and it looks like they have completed the move from the museum tracks to the Metrolink mainline track connection.  A distance of almost a mile using snap track.  It's just sitting there now waiting to be picked up next month.

Morning.  Chilly.  Rains on the way.  Inches they say.  As for the Ohizo gang, MISSED AGAIN!!!!!! Laugh  Only frozen stuff is north and west of us.  The best part is, by trying to hit the Roseyville Train Box, he has blanketed his on Yankee gang. Thumbs Up

Off to City/Farm Day sponsored by Wake Co, Farm Bureau at a local winery.  Plenty of eastern NC bar-be-que, southern fried chicken, extras and plenty of sweet ice tea. Dinner  There goes the diet. All under big tents with heat.

Later, play in the Train Box.

Have a good one.

Mornin' Fellas

After reading Chuck's latest status I'm not sure I want Buckeye doing my status updates for me! Smile

Looking forward to Thursday. Hope to get the house cleaned between tonight and tomorrow night so the weekend is quiet. Would like to get the under-the-tree layout out of the basement and get the trees setup this weekend. Not many between now and Christmas this year.

Konbanwa and Ohayo Chuck (hopefully you’re back online),

An easy 3-mile run and weight training workout is how I started off today.  The workday was uneventful and I spent about two hours out of the office waiting for a new office member to arrive to the base (his flight was delayed).  I watched a little of the MNF game but quickly became disinterested.  RG3 is having a horrible season.  We had Italian sausage with grapes and roasted sweet potato fries for dinner.  We are starting to gear up for our Thanksgiving meal; we are having two families over to join us so we have plenty of food to prepare.  Tonight, the wife made some cornbread that she will use in her homemade stuffing (she calls it dressing).  Tomorrow I’ll start prepping the turkey.

Buckeye – Thanks for posting for Chuck.  I believe you covered it nicely.

Sayonara,

Joe

Been cold this weekend.  Has not been much over freezing for the last several days.

We went to the Kansas City area Saturday and did some shopping.  Stopped by Fred's Train Shop, looked around and ended up getting a few items for the museum exhibit we are putting together.

Got the woodwork assembled for the control panel for the P.E. layout done on Sunday.  Going to work on the wiring evenings this week.

The EF seems to be elevated at work.  Some really, ah, interesting requests coming through recently.

About all for now.

Good evening all,

Busy this morning at work, but slow this afternoon.  Very cold on my lunch walk.  Sister called tonight and will be down in Terre Haute with Lucas and his sister's family along with us for Thanksgiving.  Could be a nice day.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Chuck called me today from Blueberry Hill where the oil and gas make people millionaires over night or sooner, and told me his wireless router was not working and he would miss reading the Chief's posts on the forum and laughing until he cries.

Since Chuck cannot post, I thought I would post for him.  Here goes.......

Blueberryhill RR

Good Morning from Blueberryhill............

Good Morning, Joe.........

It is a cold 16 11 degrees. Going up to 28 25 today with sunshine.  Big deal. Same thing everyday.

Today is an easy day. I plan on running trains this morning and trying out my new track cleaning car.  Lunch and a nice nap, later.  Later on I am working on getting the Snow Ohio gun aimed at the Roseyville Train Box.  What a great target!

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast. I'm starting to hate Cheerios. Why don't they ever have any of those Crispy Creame Doughnuts?

Y'all have a great Sunday Monday or whatever day it is. I'm retired and don't care.

Chuck

Good morning all,

Went to store early this morning and picked up our turkey for Thanksgiving.  I was looking for a 12 to 14 pounder but wound up with a 17 Lb so should be plenty of left overs.  Also picked up some oysters for making a stew this week.  They were on sale but not cheap.  Never are anymore.

Yesterday I went to the Cal Stewart Train show here in Ontario, California near the Ontario Airport. Second year at this location.  TTOS says they were priced out of the convention center in Pasadena so had to move.  People like V8 and others on the West side of L.A. or San Fernando Valley have a much longer drive.  However, regarding parking I paid $8 in Pasadena and only $9 at Ontario.  Could have just parked across the street for free if I had been alert.

I walked the whole show but did not find anything that I wanted or needed.  No signals to be found and no scale passenger cars as in the past.  Only a couple of good modern steam engines but several diesels.  I think things got picked over pretty good on Saturday.  Attendance looked a lot smaller to me than in years past.

I did buy a print of a large railroad painting by Larry Fisher I think.  It was of the Jacksonville, Florida passenger terminal showing passenger trains of ACL, Southern, Seaboard and Florida East Coast.  Very colorful!  I will hang it in my train room.  Got it for half price on the way out the door.

I saw one old friend from Grass Valley California whom I have known since I started buying trains back in the 70's.  Also paid a visit to the Carpet Central floor layout run by Richard Keppel but did not participate.  I have been part of that in years past but just don't have the energy to do it anymore.

We stopped by the Pomona Fairplex on the way home to take another look at the Big Boy but I did not have my camera with me.  They are in the final stages of getting in position to tow it out on to Metrolink in December.  They are in a confined corner of the fairground with little room to maneuver.  They are doing what I would call a poor man's turntable since they don't have room to make big curves now.  They lay down a straight piece of track for a couple hundred feet or so, then move to one end.  Then they take heavy fork lift machines and push the track over as far as they can without making too sharp a bend.  Then move to that end.  They keep doing this back and forth until they get it pointed in the direction that they want to go.

Hope to run my trains today.

later,

Ray

Aloha. Winter has indeed arrived in Chicago. Had a pleasant weekend ministering to my wife who was not feeling well and just generally cleaning up. Glad i got the outside 'set' before this arctic freeze.

Fife, so glad the princess is doing so well.  Love the idea of a sparkly tunnel.
Don, glad you are up and about too. Will you be running the engine at KBF this summer? Chris will love Thailand. It's pretty exotic.
Laz, that was a terrible Bears game - they can't stop the run nor score enough points to win on the other end.

Youngest princess worked on the North Pole tunnel last night, making it spar-kul-ly.  Wifey got a Dept 56 Pip&Pops to add to her collection.

COLD!!!  Hope this really hits Buckeye and give him an extra [snohio].  We are trying to keep our peace here.  Went to a CPA's anniversary reception and saw a certification on the wall from the State of Ohio.  Laughingly I told her we did NOT recognize anything from Ohio. Stick out tongue

Doing final cleaning out of the old train room upstairs.  Wifey ready to turn into another guest bedroom.

Will spend some time in the Box today as too cold to go outside for a time.
