Good evening all,

Sorry to have been away for a few days.  For some reason IE and the forum are not working on my PC and I tried Firefox on the laptop and now I am here.   Thanksgiving day was about as perfect as it can get.  All 3 of my kids were together for the first time in over a year, my sister and her family were with us, and it was a great day.  Not that it mattered, but the Lions won as well and Selena Gomez did a halftime show.  The family had a great meal at Ryan's Steak House in Terre Haute and the staff at the Spring Hill Suites did a great job in having a nice conference room for us to gather afterwards.   Lucas said it best, "Today is a good day."  We signed the car over to him and set him up with his own insurance for the next 6 months.  He is on his own now.   He told us he got a raise at work, and hopefully will be on permanent status by February.   The weather was good and traffic was not bad.   I will try to catch up on all the posts tomorrow.  We did major Christmas shopping today.  Most of it is done.  We went to the Mayberry Cafe in Danville, IN today.  Atmosphere was what we expected.  Food was good, but service was horribly slow.  Would be worth going to....once.  Not sure we will do it again.  Glad to be back.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Konnichiwa and Ohayo Chuck,

Yesterday’s block party was quite fun.  The temperature dropped significantly once the sun set but we had two fires going which kept us comfortable.  I was able to watch the second half of the PSU-Wisconsin game this morning and I was greatly pleased with the result.  We just returned from Sunday school and church and finished some party leftovers for lunch (the Thanksgiving leftovers were finished yesterday for lunch).  Once the wife and youngest wake up from their Sunday afternoon naps, we’ll start decorating the house.

Banks – I’m sorry about your wife’s wrist.  I hope she heals quickly.

Sayonara,

Joe

Banks...Breaking anything is not fun.  Hope your Mom heals real fast.

Yesterday, I cleaned and cleaned engine wheels.  How does that crud build up so heavy?  Goo-gone and cotton swaps in addition to hitting some of the wheels the Scotch Brite rotary tool cleaned them great.  Track cleaning scheduled for tomorrow.

Banks, so sorry to here of your Mrs. broken arm.  Hope she is not in any bad pain until you can get it set.  Is a hospital emergency room too far away?  Anyway, prayers for a good outcome.

Ohayƍ (Good morning Chuck),

I hope you have all recovered from the Thanksgiving and Black Friday festivities.  It’s a sunny but crisp Saturday here.  We may start decorating today, but we are hosting a neighborhood block party this afternoon/evening.  One of our neighbors is hosting it with us as the party is to celebrate his and my recent promotions.  I presume the party may take up most of our time today so we’ll probably end up decorating tomorrow after church.  It’s just about lunchtime here and my goal is to finish the leftovers.

Joe

Good morning all,

Well, the Thaksgiving dinner went off on time.  However my DIL did not get home from her parents house until just in time to come to ours with my son and grandson.  Therefore we had to highball the horderves and snacks because the main meal was ready.  In retrospect, we should have invited her parents too but I was under the assumtion that her other daughter and her family were entertaining the parents.  Duh!

The new meat thermometer worked like a charm.  I think my old one was lying.  This one shot right up to the right temp. right away even if it looks like  a water meter.

We're getting a few scattered showers this morning.  At least enough to water the lawn.  Gray skies to turn sunny by afternoon they say.

Chief and Laz are on the hunt for the elusive multipointed bucks this weekend.  Maybe Laz will finally get one with a real rifle instead of that muzzle loader.

U.P. Big Boy is parked for the holiday weekend but I don't think the crew has much more to do until the big move to the main line next month.  They all went back to Cheyenne for the weekend.

Need to get out to the garage for a train fix.

later,

Ray

Morning.  Went with Wifey to Lowes.  Actually I had to go.  She tagged along.  MISTAKE!!!!  She had to "shop".  My five minute trip lasted for 40. Bang Head  Few things to do like get Pilgrams, hay bales and etc out of front yard.  Then suck leaves with JD.  Then hit the road to the farm to hunt even though it is cold.  Back Sat. night.

Later.

TGIF

Good morning from cold and snowy Buckeyeland.  Normally on the day after Thanksgiving, I use the mower to mulch leaves.  I don't think it is going to happen.

I have been cleaning wheels and track to get ready for the 22nd Annual Children's Christmas Party at our house in late December.  My B&O Sharks really needed cleaning.  They were stalling out over switches and now they can creep over a switch.  The Sharks are Williams locomotives with ERR and LED headlights.

Konbanwa,

I actually capitalized on some Black Friday sales today as I picked up a Microsoft Surface RT tablet for me, a bike for the youngest, and some toys for the other three.  I’ve been enjoying leftovers all day and relaxing with my new tablet.  The older two kids raked some leaves for me today which was nice.  We don’t have much else planned for the evening besides watching some movies.

It looks like everyone enjoyed the holiday which is nice to see.

Happy Thanksgiving to all,

We  are later than the rest of you here on the left coast.  The bird is still in the oven and will be done in about another hour.  Wife is nursing a bad neck so I'm doing the turkey.  DIL will probably give me a hand on the rest of the dinner.  They will be over about 3:00PM.

Glad to hear Mrs Banks is doing better.  Good luck with the white tails.

Went out to get a meat thermometer today and came back with a thing that looks like a guage off of a steam engine.  Probably overkill but it was all they had.

Don, good job on the walking.  Keep it up but be careful.

later,

Ray

Happy Thanksgiving !!!

I believe I am probably the most fortunate person on this forum.  Obviously, having survived the accident I have, without any permanent issues.  THEN, to have the friendships, that I have here.  Many, many times the comments here has created the "smile" that makes the day better!!

As Doug has sad "I am thankful for each one of you".

Had a great day yesterday, did some walking, but got to start off slow.  Plan was to walk around the house some, and 3x a day walk down the sidewalk.  Each lot is 50' wide and about 10 houses down is a stop sign.  So that is my first goal.  Yesterday got 2 houses.  Had the cane with me "just in case", well the left foot (good one), and the cane bumped into each other.  Causing, the right to react.  Ankle didnot like that.  So went one more house and decided that was enough.  Went back home.

Then got a call, and they came and got the bed out of the family room.  Fantastic!!  Nice to have the space back.  Makes things seem even more normal.

Then off to Physical Therapy, only 3 more sessions and that is for the hand.  Surprisingly, the DR did NOT prescribe any PT for the leg.  He said need to walk, and walk.  Depending upon how the weekend goes may go back and talk to him about that, on Monday.

Then last night the 3 of us went to Bass Pro Shops.  Had a great time, lots of fun.  Chris bought some hiking boots, and some shirts.  I got a shirt, and Kay got some Pepper Spray.  Ate dinner there as well.

Today, her parents coming over, and Chris plans on doing a slide show of his pictures from Alaska and other places.  Everyone will enjoy that.  Then of course Grandma and Mom will have tons of questions regarding his trip to Thailand, planned for the summer.

So again I have so much to be thankful for.

Also, so glad that Mrs Banks doing better, and Tyler is doing well.  Hope everyone else stays healthy also.

Later!

Banks...I didn't know when I started building the layout it was for a small boy who would show up at my house almost nine years later.  His first words to me after his plane landed late Tuesday night were, "Pop can we run the trains?"

COLD morning.  Sunny and high around 42.  Yankees, you can keep your weather.

Over the river and through the woods to MIL's house for Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.  I'm thankful for all of you who are friends and have been faithful to the Coffee Pot. Thumbs Up

Banks, glad your Mrs. is doing better.

Waiting for Brent to give report on the kids' Thanksgiving.  Are they watching the Macy's Parade [use to be a tradition at my house when I was little.  BTW: started with black and white TV]

Enjoy the day and give thanks to God as everything comes from him.

God bless.

Hello all

the good news is Mrs is feeling much better. Bad news is we are having January weather. Currently 20 degrees with a 20 mph breeze straight out of the north. Tomorrow's predicted high is mid 20's while the breeze continues. If this keeps up I'll be sitting in my Blazer on Monday instead of on a stump to watch for the elusive Whitetail Buck.

Happy THANKSGIVING to all. Supper this evening was a great Mrs made pot of Chili shared with my cousin from Meadville PA. She doesn't visit often but we try to make it a good one when she does.

I scored a 31021 Gilbert HO Industrial Transfer loco on the bay at a good price yesterday. Hope it looks as good as it does in the photo's when it shows up.

Dinner tomorrow will be with daughter & SIL at their place . Son & his family will be at our place for the evening meal of spiral cut ham sandwiches and other picnic style foods.

Don......glad to see your back on your feet.

Buckeye.....aren;t grand kid great fun!!!!!!!  Enjoy.

Off to join Mrs  in bed

Prayers for those in need
