We had more rain today and it was a bit cooler. The workday was pretty boring and I left the office a few minutes early. I'm thinking about buying one of the new Lionel Remote Control Thomas sets for the youngest boy. I think they are fairly priced and I'm sure he'd enjoy using the remote control. I don't have much more to report at this point.

Today is a busy day. Plenty of chores to do and keep me busy until lunch. Then, I can relax and take a nice nap. Not much else new.

V8, that's surprising that one in 4 here are poor. Now I know why everybody has their hand out in California. We have lost most of our large industry and places that employ a lot of people. You can't make a career out of working for McDonalds.

Drag races going on at the Pomona Fairground today and for the weekend. My son is over there now. Also the Rail Giants Museum there is having what could be their last open house prior to moving the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 out of the fairgrond and started on it's way back to Cheyenne Wyoming for restoration. I would go but don't want to fight the drag race traffic. Nobody knows the exact date for the move but it could be anytime after the drag races are over. They have some of the temporary track already in place for the move.

Been busy packing away the halloween toys til next year, the buidings are done now it's working on all the other "bits-n-pieces" that seem to take forever. The real pain will be breaking down the table so it can be stored up against the garage backwall.
Got out the Christmas trains last Sunday, on the old Thomas layout in the livingroom, gotta keep the "BetterHalf" happy. She will soon start asking to have the tree up for Thanksgiving.
Got everything packed and ready for tomorrow, hopefully the TMCC/DCS gremlins won't make an appearance.
Buckeye, Have you ever found a truly viable replacement traction tire for the K-Line Mikados ? Currently I'm trying Lionel Lionmaster Challenger's and they just are quite the right fit.
Anybody have the Hogwarts 4-6-0 ? The e-unit in mine is kinda goofy. If you lock it in forward, turnout issues with the short p/u roller spacing, it still cycles F-N-F.

The LHS called today. My MKT service truck and Lionel Art boxcar came in today.
My wife is developing next year's exhibit for the Depot Museum. It is going to be on a theme of trains as viewed through children's eyes. She is looking for pictures of garden layouts.
I know some of you guys (Yankee for y'all) have garden layouts. If you are interested in contributing some pictures for this display, please send me a personal message.

Joe, I do have quite an eclectic range of favorites in music. From Allison Krauss and Avril to Led Zeppelin and Rush and on to Neil Young and Beyoncé and Toby Keith and Carrie Underwood, I enjoy artists and songs of almost types of music. This week there were 3 CDs out from the younger performers. Selena is supposed to be in Indy in a couple of weeks. Debating on whether to see the show or not.
Work was busy today. Got a lot done. Watched Glee tonight.

Good night all. Made it until 7 PM. Came home and ate dinner. Now have off and on coughing spells. Trying to get off the codeine. Been 36 hours but going to have to take a little or not sleep. Not coughing up the bad stuff. Seems more of an allergic thingy.
Turned windy and real chilly. If not too bad, suppose to fly with a buddy tomorrow AM. We'll see.

Friday was a nice day here. I had an brief 3-mile run this morning and then an easy day at the office. I left work early to come home to roast a chicken and vegetables and fry some potatoes for dinner. It was delicious. I'm using the leftover chicken bones to make stock now. The wife and I will enjoy some wine to relax tonight.

dougdagrump and Chief - I believe this storm will miss us; however, the Philippines was hit pretty hard. That's a shame since they had a bad earthquake not too long ago.
SP Ray - I beg to differ about McDonald's being a viable career option. I know many full-time managers who make a nice living out of it. They all started out as regular minimum wage employees and worked their way up the chain. Even the previous CEO started off as a "fry cook" and worked his way up. It all depends on what you put into your efforts.
Mike C. - I think I have a wide arrange of musical interests as well. I'm a big fan of everything from the Dorsey Brothers to Ray Charles, from Elvis to The Beatles, from Earth, Wind, and Fire to CCR, from U2 to Nirvana, from Cold Play to The Avett Brothers, and many more in between. I don't think one should limit themselves as different artists can have different talents; however, if I didn't have a 12-year-old daughter I'm certain I would not know of Selena.

36 here and a bit breezy. Been out bow hunting the past few afternoons. I been up in my Summit climber tree stand and enjoying these fall days. I have only seen doe so far but the rut is just about to start here so now the fun begins. Saw a bunch of nice bucks whilst out spotting after hunting for pheasants. MINNIE dog is doing good with flushing them just a bit too far for us. She flushed 5 on Saturday but too far for shooting and they retreated to the up corn. Maybe tomorrow? Going back out this afternoon to sit in stand.

Morning. Sunny and chilly. Did not fly. Had that bad coughing spell and was up till 1:30. So told buddy I would go some other time. Wifey off so I will probably go do something [shop ] with her. Probably a lunch and early afternoon movie.
No hunting this weekend. Big train show tomorrow in Raleigh. All gauges so may take boys. Will Allen, big collector and layout guy was at transit meeting last night. Wants me to go. Better than the TCA "junk" shows we have been having.
May go Sunday night and hunt Monday and Tuesday. Cold rain coming Wed. and Thurs. LAZ, think got one down in woods but not found. Shot late Friday evening at about dark. Waited a few and climbed out of stand. Bottom fell out and I got soaked while trying to find him with "blood light". Rain was ruining that. Got back to truck and called Friend Fred. Said he would go Sat. and look for him. I was sick and had to drive home wet. Why I was so sick all weekend and this week. Fred did not go back as he said. He went Monday and did not look for him [too long anyway]. Shame. It was a cull. Long horns and two tiny points on each side. Hate the meat was wasted. Seeing lots of does. Rut has started.

FIFE, that TCA meet is suppose to be pretty good. It is in a church hall there and the guy has alot of stuff, so I am told. I was never there and I have my MOMs 90th Birthday that weekend so I probably wont get there. Have fun if you go. Maybe JOHN F will be there he lives really close to Millersville. I'm about an hour and fifteen minutes northwest of there.

Windy in the low 40’s here.
Friday Nov.8th in ‘74 Mrs. & I went on our 1st date. On Sat the 8th in ’75 she became Mrs. Sometimes it seems like it was just a couple years ago.
The report on the fallen rider is better than expected. He is now in a rehab hospital near his home. Time will tell how much function he regains.
Son’s FIL is holding his own. Two more SUPER Doses and then re-evaluate.
My cousin who beat throat cancer 7 years ago succumbed to complications of pneumonia this past Monday. She was 60.
Corn crop is not as good as hoped. Extreme wet followed by extreme dry and now a bear and a herd of deer did a number on it. Last year corn sold for $7.00 per bushel. This year it’s a tad over $4.00. Go figure. Hopefully there’s enough cash for the seed & fertilizer in the spring.
Chief....watch that cold.

Joe, glad to hear that there are at least some "career opportunities" at McDonalds. I was thinking mainly of just the average hamburger flipper.
Talked to my sis in Florida today. She is in need of major dental work and I have expressed my willingness to help her with it but she and her daughter can't seem to get organized on this. My sister is living in assisted living and does not drive. Depends on daughter to take her to dentist and other places. Anyway all I can do is offer help. The rest is not up to me.
V8, I think you are right about the trade jobs. Anyone used to be able to find some kind of job that would pay a living wage with only a High School Diploma but not anymore. People without even High School are probably really bad off now. I think they require some college even for railroad jobs now. When I was there, several of the engineers had degrees.
Just had some wonderful news this afternoon. I finally got a call from my sister in Virginia who had the major surgery and was near death almost for two months. She was in and out of hospitals and nursing facilities all that time. She is finally back home and sounds strong on the phone. She is able to eat on her own now and has gained a lot of her weight back. Praise the Lord!

I'm home from meetings in Indianapolis and Cincinnati. My rental was a Jeep Patriot. I do not recommend. There are much better small SUVs on the market. The Patriot is going to have transmission problems because of how they set up the manual shift system.
Looking forward to mulching leaves this weekend after putting the boat in the garage for the winter.

Busy day at work. Almost all caught up on case reports. Did not have to drive today either. Wife and I had a nice meal at Chili's tonight, Going to watch Grimm. Have to admit my introduction to younger musical talent comes almost always from Glee.
Off to bed.
Banks corn here is way down. Paying $7 for 60 lb. bag of clean for feeders. Sorry. Tobacco down east was washed out along with cotton. Then it dried out. Started digging peanuts and a big rain came for several days. Those on top of the ground molded and still there [nice deer food for us hunters]. Rough farm year. Hope better next year. Now deer and a beer can be taken care of.

Today was the perfect fall day for a flag football game: partly cloudy and chilly; about 50 degrees at kickoff. Unfortunately, that weather didn't translate into a solid game by our team. We lost 8 - 6 and hurt ourselves with some bad snaps - one of which resulted in a safety. My son played well, especially in the Linebacker position as he was able to break up about six passes and had about four tackles. Our daughter played her first volleyball game today and she did good for her first time. She actually scored an ace to end the one set. I have plenty of leaves to rake but don't feel like doing it right now.
Banks - Congratulations to you and your wife! It's good to hear the fallen rider is in a better situation. I'm sorry for the loss of your cousin.
Laz - Fortunately none of the players blew away this morning. I hope you have a better hunting outing today.

Cool here today at 36 going up to 54 for pheasant hunting. I had 3 pheasants walk right in front of the truck yesterday when I was going out with the bow. Had to stop otherwise I would have had pheasant under the hood. Today gonna take my trusty dog MINNIE today for birds. Yesterday saw one deer at 445 it was 50 yrds away but couldn't make it out. Started to get dark and waited til 515 to get down out of tree stand. Never knew what it was. I have another week with the bow.
Last nite ran trains for an hour NO PILE UPs. Ran all MTH, Reading T1, Reading Blue Mt. T1, and SD 50 Reading & Northern pwer and dummy. Nice time and did some scheming.
RT, WOW you live in a tough neighborhood. Must be big guys to take those wheels?

Aloha. THis was a leaf raking and mulching day. Buckeye reminded me to use the mower on the huge piles after the neighborhood kids go through jumping in them. (I'm the only one in the neighborhood with any trees). Good news on your sis, Ray. Looking forward to the Bears game, Laz - the Lions are tough this year. Buckeye, I'd agree with you on the Patriot. It's a weird set-up. Going over to church now to serve as video director for tonight's service and tomorrow's. I think I got a few extra cameras this weekend. Good luck at the train show, Chief!
Went to Pomona Fairground this morning for one last look at U.P. 4014 Big Boy before they move her. Looks like that will happen next wee at least phase one which will get it from the museum over to the track connection with main line. U.P. guys were busy today lubricating everything that will move. Panel track sections are stored and ready to install for the move.
Don, bummer on the doctor appointment. Better luck Monday!
