Hello all,

This is a quick stop in as I get ready to head to YORK. With luck tomorrow at this time I'll be heading to the CTT Booth for a group photo.

Mike C....I feel for ya...

Bean and corn harvest has been halted by rain and damp weather. Every time the moisture content gets near to acceptable levels it rains again. Just enough to prevent harvest. We do need the rain as we are considerably behind for the year.

Off I go

Prayers for those in need

Afternoon Fellas

Mike - sorry to hear about your dog. Never easy when that happens.

This is one of those days where I feel like someone wrote me into an episode of The Twilight Zone... no words to describe how odd it has been.

TheQ is home safe from her trip to Vegas... she left Tuesday night and got home before the sun rose this morning. Last night she called from the airport and Christina's first words to her were "Mommy when you coming home? I miss you SOOOOOOO much". TheQ will be leaving on Sunday and returning on Wednesday starting this weekend... wonder how Christina is going to react to that. She went to bed super early on Tuesday and last night she stayed up till @ 8:50 so she could watch the Toy Story Halloween special and talk to mommy...

Konnichiwa,

The weather was great today.  You sure couldn't tell a typhoon passed through the day before.  Apparently, Tokyo was hit hard: 17 people died and over 50 are missing.  According to the news, it was the strongest typhoon to hit this area of Japan since 2004.  I watched both baseball games while at work and was very pleased with both outcomes.  It's about time the Tigers scored some runs.

Mike C. - I'm sorry for your loss.

Good evening all,

Early post.  Figured out why dog was chewing on boxes.  She chewed on stuff when we first got her, and she chewed on stuff just before she left us.   Maryellen had to put her down today.  Sad day. Was with us 14 years.  Same number as AJ's team.  Sort of appropriate.

My sincerest apologies to Sir James.  These one run games are exciting but are wearing me out.  Plus the wifey wants to know if all of my screaming at the TV screen, complete with expletives, is really necessary.   :-)   JACK.

Jack, tell Pam it is ABSOLUTLY necessary!!

No joy in Mudville last night (L.A.).  Dodgers have dug themselves a deeper hole.  They might win one more game if their lucky but I'm not holding my breath on this one.

Cal Stewart train meet is fast approching.  Actually next month but it comes around fast.  Don't know if I'm going or not yet.  Also Dixieland Jazz Festival in San Diego Thanksgiving weekend.  Would like to go but don't know about our health yet.

Don is right!  Seems like Chief does have a lot of hiding places lately.

Had a good breakfast.  Home fries and eggs, left over sweet potato warmed up, two small waffles and a glass of non fat milk.   Probably have salad for lunch.  No cooking tonight as son is going to a Hockey game from work so we will skip big meal and just have something simple or get take out.

Saw pretty good movie on TV last night.  "The American President" with Michael Douglas.  Not bad.

later,

Ray

Aloha from a grey and cold northeastern Illinois. Nothing much going on at work except prepping for a visit from a big-wig next week. Doc visit later today. What games are you talking about? It must be the sport of Pre-Football, right? Wink

Apology accepted. It appears the Tiger hitters forgot to show up for work last night. We can't blame the pitcher for having a one run game....

Good morning from London England or is it Seattle????  Been cloudy and rainy for over a week.  Tomorrow the sun will come out is the line we have heard for over a week.  Gets extended each morning. Bang Head

Farmers down east are jumping off their grain bins.  Can't get in the fields.  That was the same this summer with 6 to 8 inches of rain a week.  Tobacco corps were ruined.  Corn got by some during two weeks of dry.  Now the cotton and peanuts.  Soon milo and soybeans.  Wheat needs planting.  Those who did get wheat planted are now afraid it is up too soon and will get winter damage.  Unbelievable.  Still better than a hurricane.

Off to get some miles in before leaving to baby sit Oldest animals.

Have a good one.

Jack -- I think the screaming at the screen is absolutely therapeutic in this scenario and appropriate, the only two other options would screaming at her or kicking the dog. I believe you are making the correct and well thought out decision Laugh

Konnichiwa,

The typhoon has come and gone.  I don't believe it was as bad in our area as some others.  I think Fukushima was supposed to be hit pretty hard and that's the last thing that area needs.  All of our items are still in the yards, as well as a fresh deposit of leaves to rake.  Thanks for all the prayers and concern.

I did manage a short two-mile run this morning after the winds subsided a bit.  It's still somewhat windy now but not as bad as it was overnight and early this morning.  The rain did come down sideways most of the time.  We're just enjoying a peaceful afternoon now.  I did watch the Tigers-Sox game; it was a great pitching duel again.  The Tigers have their work cut out for them now.

DENNIS..... I get charged about $90 including spot removal for an area about 250Sq. ft.    Deoderizing is extra.  No charge for moving furniture.  HEY JOE D, batten down the hatches, or in your case, use heavier aircraft tie-down cable.  :-) JACK.

Good morning all,

Dennis, I didn't realize carpet steam cleaning was so expensive.  I've had regular chemical cleaning but never steam.  For those prices, I think I would think about new carpets unless the old ones still have a lot of life left.

Got a small scuff mark on the rear bumper of my new paint job on the Honda.  It's not bad though and you can't see it unless you look from underneath.  Just wonder how I got it.  Must have been a shopping cart or something.  Now that it has been "christened" I can stop worrying about it.

Jon, have a nice time at York.  Wish I could be there.

Joe, prayers for a safe outcome on the typhoon.

later,

Ray

Hello from the PA RR Museum.  It's a beautiful day here but the yard is closed because of Asbestos removal from two silver liners that are to be scrapped.  A good lesson in " don't take everything you are offered".

Hope everyone is doing well, will be at York Thur. & Fri.  Hope to see some of you there.

Dennis - My experience is that price is IF you have had them do the carpets regularly AND you move ALL the stuff out of the room. When I lived in PA I called three different carpet cleaners when I moved to MD (house was empty), needed LR, DR, stairs, hallway, 3 BR. It was about 1100 sq, typical city house. Quotes were all over the place from $500 - $1500! All were steam cleaners, but one place wanted to charge extra for hauling equipment up to the house and then up to the second floor (house sits on an incline), others wanted extra for cleaning the walls and baseboards... umm.... I called about getting the FLOORS cleaned.

For $500 I bought a carpet cleaner and did them myself, never saw water that dirty before!

Aloha. Grey day here in Chicago. Tut, tut, it looks like rain (as Winnie the Pooh would say). I have to laugh about prepping for cleaners. Are you ever asked to clean for the cleaners? My MiL used to ask us to come over to her house and help pretty everything up before the cleaners came. Definitely eye-rolling. Big Smile

It's pumpkin-launching season here. Boy, that's quite the typhoon in Japan. Hang in there, Joe.

Demay

Konnichiwa,

The big news here is the typhoon which will hit sometime overnight.  We're expecting 100-knot winds and 30 inches of rain.  We sent people home early from work so they could secure their outdoor belongings and stock up on any supplies.  The base commander already closed down the base tomorrow so they must be expecting some damage.  It has been raining for about four hours now, but supposedly around 0800 tomorrow the rain will appear to come down like a waterfall.

Sayonara,

Joe

Joe, Sure hope that typoon dies down!  Prayers for you and family!!  Be Safe.
