Mornin' FellasMade it to work rather quickly this morning with very little traffic... the only benefit to the shutdown.Jack - Maximus = Christina, Raven = Matthew when it comes to play time. Christina doesn't understand that Matthew isn't big enough for WWE rough housing!Buckeye - We have only seen you and Chief together in photos, which we all know can be changed... Doug - glad you missed the train!Has anyone heard from Brutus?

Greetings Y'all From Sunny and Warm Taxachusetts,
You California boys have nothing on us!!! Sunny and mid 80s on tap for today, about 3 degrees short of an all-time high record for the date! Same forecast for tomorrow except a tad cooler. Then it will be "Fall" as usual.
We took puppy Raven in for her next round of innoculations yesterday. She has gained 8 pounds in the past three weeks and at the age of four months is now 34 pounds! The tab for the veterinarian visit came to $200 after my wife felt compelled to buy a new dog collar and we stocked up on a couple of expensive items like heartworm, flea/tick, a special ear ointment, etc. Then this morning the wife was up at 5AM to take Raven to doggy daycare to make sure we are getting her heavily exercised and well-socialized around dogs her size and age. Maximus will take over the exercise duties soon, but at the present he is too big and plays too rough with the puppy.
Don.....how on earth did your boot get that mangled?!? From the damage it sounds like you jumped off the roof of the engine. No wonder your injury was so severe. No matter, you are well on the way to recovery and that is all that matters. I hope that your thumb therapy goes well. After all, you must be able to firmly grip beer cans for the next 30 years.
DJ.......hope you are feeling better. My wife and I are exposed to everything the grandkids bring home from school and it seems like someone in our family is always fighting one crud or the other.
Buckeye......come to think of it, I don't think I have ever seen a picture of the Chief when he wasn't wearing some sort of disguise.
Brent.......the kiddies will be grown before you know it. Time really flies.
DougM......how on earth did that unmanned CTA train get loose? I sure am glad there are all of those safety checks and balances in place (NOT). I rode the MBTA commuter rail out here to and fro Boston for many years and depended upon the workers to just do their jobs. You never know!!! Just North of us in the harbor of Portsmouth NH earlier this year an ocean going vessel flying a Portuguese flag entered the harbor and was nestled up to a dock by the tugs. Problem was, no one on the ship tied it up, it floated back towards the open ocean, and it partially took out a major vehicle bridge that got in the way. Funny thing is that the definitive "cause" of the snafu and the culprits have never been revealed by the media.......or maybe the story was buried on page 84 if you know what I mean.
V8 Dennis..........meter readers?!? You folks in California ought to join the 21st century! Ours (water and electric) are all read via RF by a passing van. The old meters were all swapped out back in the 1990s. We never get estimated bills either.
Later, gang.
Jack

Jon....I have been to Roseyville and yes, you are again correct. Halloween is a great description. For the doubters, how many photos have we seen of the Chief in a costume?

Good evening all,
Reffed youth tourney soccer game tonight. Game much closer than 5-0 score indicates. Work was chaotic today. Buckeye, email me please when and where you will be in Indy. Maybe we can meet and chat. Details were announced for Indy road race. May be a race day decision as to who goes and where we sit.

Speaking of customer service, Check hasn't bounced, yet.
Looking at this month, I'm so happy to tell everyone that I will not being going to NC, but I will be in Indy, Louisville, Cleveland, Akron and Pittsburgh.
**************
Just don't spend that check yet, be very cautious.
Happy to hear that you will be avoiding the swamps of NC, no one needs that experience -- especially with Halloween on the horizon. However, Halloween is probably like an every day happening in Roseyville.

So many roads, so little time.
dbaker48 Last week, (early), I got to thinking about the boots I was wearing when I had my accident. I primary concern was I had a puncture in the bottom of my heal, where or what caused it? No one could determine, yet there was a hole on the inside of the boot at the heel, but not the outside. So decided to send the boots to Timberline, for inspection. ($200 boots) They inspected them and called me yesterday! They found that the "sole plate" was broke, and that possibly could have caused the puncture. They consider that a defect since it broke, regardless of the conditions. And, therefore are replacing the Boots !! Wow! what customer service! They told me that it is possible due to the force, (which he said HAD to be significant to cause that much damage to the boot. I told him it broke my leg at the knee and 10 pieces at the ankle. He said there is a rod that runs the length of the sole and it was bent at a 90 angle, causing the puncture wound. Also, surprised I didnt have any toes broke due to the steel plate. (Actually, the big toe is but nothing done about it, which is OK. Its healing anyway. So at least I wont have to buy a new pair of boots.

Lesson learned: Buy Rocky Boots from Ohio.
Afternoon All !
Fife, On their way, should be there Thursday or Friday. Enjoy.
Doug M, That crash kinda makes one wonder about those so-called "failsafe" devices.
Short handed at the museum tomorrow so I'll be going in to make up the shortage. No rest for the wicked weary. At least it isn't a free day, they appear to be quite busy today.
Need to go figure what to take tomorrow.
Later all.

Good Afternoon,
Been away for a few days, computer problems! Worked the weekend with the wife, she did real good, I mostly watched. Then was trying to do some stuff to make it easier for her and the computer died. Its an older desktop, think the power supply went out. So now to fix and/or replace? Think will probably replace. And just go with a new laptop, no more desktops.
SPRay, Good luck with the Drivers Test tomorrow. I'm staying home anyway, so the road is all yours!
V8Vega, Dennis, You got me interested in the website you got your cars from. They sure have a lot of O scale stuff! 85 pages, I've been looking at creating a wish list.
Also, had the stitches taken out near my eye, and the good news is biospy's all came back negative. Then got a phone call this morning start therapy for the thumb next week. So all is well!!
Bob, bought a couple of 3-way switches for his layout (Ross), so he is coming over so I can show him how to wire them. He has 2 to install. I can't get upstairs to his layout, so will connect some small pieces of track to them, then temporarily connect all the wires up and make sure they work correctly. Then all he would need is to take them home, put them on layout and secure wire connections to his power, etc.. Should work.
Need to get back and see if I can get more computer stuff connected and installed. No matter how much you make stuff redundant, when problem comes up STILL need to reinstall drivers, reroute interface connects, etc... What a pain!! Especially trying to find all the appropriate info.

Happy October the oneth y'all,
Went in early this morning for blood test needed by Dr. next week.
Dennis, you must be the airgun king of the West. Did'nt know they had an air supply to shoot them. The old ones had to be pumped manually.
DMV renewal test for drivers license tomorrow.
Took a longer walk than usual this morning all up hill. The nice part is that it is all down hill coming back. I'm getting practice for when the doctor tells me that my triglycerides are too high. Taking meds though but don't know how much good they are doing.
Gave my new Railking trolley a workout yesterday. Runs nice and I like the trolley stop announcements and the bell to ring up a fare or departure. Not sure which but it is a double ding. It even has a signal that a passenger would activate to let the motorman know you want to get off at the next stop. Would be nicer if it was proto 2 but the price was right.
later,
Ray

Mornin' FellasAlways fun to arrive at work on the first day of the month to 100+ emails about the systems failing due to an update that I was not aware of! Never understood why we write policies that no one follows. Been away for a while due to family, vacation, work, etc. Just very busy with very little time.Kids are growing like weeds on Miracle Grow. Every day is something new with one of them, these first few years of life sure are fun to experience. Was in Alabama Thursday two weeks ago through this past Friday and TheQ's cousin gave birth to a baby girl the day we arrived, and a coworker's wife brought their newborn son in yesterday. Comparing them to Matthew (turns 8 months on Saturday) makes you realize how fast they grow and develop, they simply don't stay little long enough.I think I finally have all the components to start wiring the command center... not sure when I will start that as I have to make an emergency run to Pittsburgh to replace a pillar on the front porch, and TheQ is going to be doing a bunch of business travel this month, and I need to start work on the Christmas Tree layout... but I will git 'er done!Hope everyone is going well. DJ - take care and kick that cold... sounds nasty.
Looks like everyone forgot its now october
