Good Morning from Blueberryhill.............
It is a cold 34 degrees. Going up to 52 today with sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will relax. I think I will do some reading. Not much else new.
Dining car has Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
Konnichiwa,
It's been an extremely wet Saturday here. We were supposed to experience another typhoon today but fortunately it weakened to a tropical storm and mostly remained offshore. However, it certainly gave us a great deal of rain; the rain started late last night and just now stopped (1530). There was also a 7.1 earthquake overnight that raised a tsunami warning for some coastal areas. We have spent the day indoors cleaning and getting the kids' winter clothes out of storage.
Don B. - I know you didn't mean to sound negative. I will still see the movie when I have a chance.
I hope you all have a great Saturday.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good evening all.
Quiet day at work. Watched "Grimm" tonight. Got CTT today. Good issue.
Mike C. from Indiana
Howdy,
Love the Chief"s new yard swing.
Had KFC oven cooked chicken last night.. Some of us had bad reactions. Guess we can't eat some of those fast foods anymore.
Jon, sounds like a good trip in the works to the Grand Canyon. Never did much photography over there myself. I've only been there three times. Once on the way to California in 1958. Buddy and his wife that I was traveling with looked at it, called it a big hole in the ground and said lets go. Went back years later and had time to appreciate the beauty. Third time was on the occasion of the RLHS excursion to the canyon and I forgot a forth trip where we just rode the regular train from Williams. Hiking reminds me of a guy we met at Yosemite one time. We had just come back from a hike and stopped for a drink at the lodge. He said the only place he ever hiked was to the toilet and to the bar. He looked like it too.
Had second thoughts about dealing with door to door contractors yesterday and cancelled appointment to get quote on paint job. Too many scammers in that racket. After doing some checking, smelled like a rat.
TCA meet tomorrow. Last meet before Cal Stewart next month.
later,
Ray

Afternoon fellasStill trying to get my head on straight. Went to Boyertown yesterday for my Uncle's funeral. Was nice to see family I haven't seen in a number of years. We celebrated my Uncle's life, rather than mourn his death. He was 87, WWII Vet (was the cook on the USS Maddox), lived to meet his great-great-grandson, etc. Today I'm just tired... very, very tired.Hope to work on the track cleaning car review this weekend.

Hello all,
TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been a busy week, Being of last Friday didn’t help things at work.
Winter seems to be approaching fast. We had our first hard frost Sunday night. Sn** flakes mixed with rain yesterday.
Had a great time at York last weekend. I had hoped to get to the TCA Museum but Mrs & I were enjoying doing nothing too much and we never made it there. Maybe in April……..
Son got the ‘beans combined after spending an evening patching up the shaker table in the combine. He took one wagon load to the mill last evening with the remaining load tonight. Projected income is just shy of doubling planting cost. (no allowance for time) He’s shopping for a newer Corn picker with a sheller attachment. That will eliminate shoveling the ear corn into the sheller. Two years ago the mill quit accepting ear corn so we have to shell it before we take it.
You guys talking about cutting & splitting wood remind me why I switched to buying coal. I have Chain saws, a buzz saw for on the tractor and a splitter powered by tractor. Wood is still a he**uva lot more work. I still use maybe a pickup load of wood to get the coal burning. It would be nice so sit and watch the fire in a fireplace if I had one.
Don....Great news!!!!!!
Laz....watcha doin next summer? My house is past due for a new roof. It's only a 5/12 pitch
Jack...Rich is too wise for the Chief
Best get busy
Prayers for those in need
Banks, Proud member of the OTTS TCA 12-67310
It is with serious concern that I report that Rich is in the Charlotte NC airport on his wat to visit his daughter in Fla. I fear the Chief may kidnap him and hold him hostage. We may have to assemble an extraction team to get him out safely.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Don....this is great news. Slow and steady wins the race. You will be back on your roller blades, trampoline, and pogo stick before you know it!!!! :-) JACK.
Good Morning,
RT - That may be how the Chief plans on spending his next vacation, site seeing, while saving on gas money.
Laz - Good Job, at least you didn't fall off the roof, so it was successful.
Demay - Didn't want to sound negative, because it IS a good movie! You will enjoy!
Still fiddling around with the computers, would explain what I'm doing, but I don't understand. Hopefully I will know when I'm done.
Off to therapy, last day for arm. Then a week and half, then OFF with the leg cast, I HOPE !!!!
Don
Hi GUYZ,
Been real busy this week. Helped neighbor rip off and replace roof. Roof was a 8-12 pitch. Wow though I was in good shape but the feets and lower back are sore. We ripped off all the old shingles replace with new ones We did about 16 square. Not to bad for two old GUYZ. We are booth 57. Today I will relax with about a 5 mile walk in woods with my MINNIE dog. Later I will run trains.
ROY happy belated Birthday. I was wondering why you were eyeing up that Big Boy in the Lionel booth at YORK. Hope you had a few OL Mils?

Konbanwa,
It's great to be able to log on from home again. I started this morning off with a four-mile interval run during some light rain. The workday went by fast and was uneventful. It ended a bit early as the older son (10 y/o) and I ran in a 5K Zombie run. It was fun and he ran the entire thing without stopping which impressed me since he's never run that far before. No zombies got us either. We had rotisserie chicken and roasted vegetables for dinner tonight. I also treated the kids to some root beer floats. The wife and I are enjoying some wine now as we wind down for the evening.
Don B. - I'm looking forward to seeing Gravity. I wanted to see it before all the rave reviews came out. I suppose those reviews can lead us to expect too much.
Mike C. - Great job on the soccer game. I'm glad you had such a great day.
RT, That is soooo coool !!!! I want one !!!!!! Get rid of the wheel chair!! Kay would love it.

Good evening all,
Played my best game of the year in a 3-2 loss. Several good touches, near steals and an assist on the assist. Work was good as well. Weather was cold at game, but was sweating almost all the way thru it. Played entire 50 minutes.
Okay sorry for missing all the birthdays and anniversaries My mind has been far away even when posting think its finally coming back to where it should be.
Any way found out one of the chief's secret prodjects he got the nieghbor kid to test it as he was affraid if he fell he wouldn't be able to do his mayoral duties and how would he explain to mrs chief ( Pam)
jonadel Mitch -- I've had GREAT experiences with JusTrains several times. I've had them call here after their store has closed to answer a question I had emailed to them earlier in the day. I will certainly use them again anytime I use mail order.

Same here concerning JusTrains. Good experience. Fast delivery.
Something that I have learned about the purchase of trains is that you many times can locate that hard to find eastern road in a western train store. For example, I scoured my normal eastern stores trying to purchase a New Jersey Central Williams FM Trainmaster. Nothing. When I checked Western Depot's website, they had five.

Ray -- my wife is an avid hiker and is really looking forward to this challenge. They've had this adventure booked for a year (you have to book the Phantom Ranch a year in advance and be lucky to get a room) plus she hiked several day's in the CO Rockies this summer. Plus she knows that if you have to call for a helicopter ride to the top it's $2,000.00!!!!!
The train ride. It starts in Williams and ends up at the Grand Canyon Village, where we are staying so we are not going to do it. One of my great passions is photography, I plan on being up every morning before sunrise shooting the early AM shots and then making sure I'm ready for that "magic" time just before sunset when the conditions are soft and warm. The light conditions just before sunset are truly awesome, can't wait!
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Jon and Buckeye, that snow and cold rain and sitting around a fireplace sounds cozy. We are having Fall like weather here this week with cloudy cool mornings after overnight lows in the low 50's. High today about 76. That's about as close to Fall as we get.
Jon, That hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon sounds pretty ambitious. Hope your wife is in good shape. Going down is not so bad but coming up is another story unless you are all flying out on the helicopter. That sounds like my speed. Do you plan on riding the Grand Canyon train while you are over there? I think they run just diesels most of the time now. I rode it behind steam twice.
Aloha. It is cold and sunny. I have an 11 year old partner for two days as he is out of school for teacher meetings. Maybe we'll work on the layout together, or go somewhere to look at trains.

Don -- we have a wood burning fireplace insert that we use constantly, it's a wonderful source of "free" heat for us as we have an unlimited amount of firewood only steps from our front door. With that said, wood burning takes a lot of effort and some expense (chain saws, splitting, stacking) and a lot of sweat equity. I believe in our situation it's a great option, in large cities like Denver and LA it's not such a great idea. Years ago (in December) I remember as we drove into Denver that there was a yellow haze over the city, two reasons -- smog and fireplaces. A few years after that the city passed an ordinance limiting when you could burn wood in your fireplace, I don't remember the details but I think it had to do with your address or day of the week. The good thing about burning wood -- it warms you up more than once and it's great exercise
Mitch, Glad to see you back!!
Went to see Gravity last night. It was a "good" movie, but I think I may have had my expectations too high.
Did more motorized work, but ran out of gear lube, broke a wire on a gang car, and trolly so quit for the day. Those 2 pieces were really coated with accumulated grease. So will continue with the cleaning then fix the wiring and continue.
Noticed the "Change of Seasons" here as well, (the sun isn't quite as intense). Looking forward to the winter and a few rain drops, and the electric fire place. (Efforts are in place to BAN fireplace usage here with wood fires! Because of AIR QUALITY issues!!).
Hope everyone has a great day.
Morning to All,
We are on the second day of wedding preparation. Starting to pack and load the cars. Should be a beautiful weekend. Sunny with a high of 59 on Saturday.
Heard from JustTrains yesterday. Crane controller has shipped. Hope it will be here soon. The gantry crane is my nephew's favorite accessory. Thinking of getting a new one for me and giving him the other one. He will play with it for hours on end.
Have a great day,
Mitch

It is a cold 34 degrees. Sunny. Going up to only 48 today with sunshine.
Today is busy. I have an errand to run and the usual chores to do. Then, a couple of hours to work on the big project. Lunch and a nap, later.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
I determined the cause of the glitch: Internet Explorer 11. When I updated to Windows 8.1 it automatically installed Internet Explorer 11 which was not compatible with the forum and a couple other of my usual sites. I will use Mozilla Firefox for these sites.
I'm posting from the office again as I cannot seem to figure out the glitch on the home laptop. What is odd is that I can access every other site on CTT and Trains except for the forum. The work week is flying by this week and we may a tropical storm to deal with this weekend. I received my flag football roster two days ago and we will begin practices on Monday. I hope everyone is doing well.
Fall is finally here. The leaves are starting to turn and we are getting frost warnings.
Working on my Polar Express layout regularly in the evenings now. I got invited to display it at a local train show & swap meet on Nov. 2. Lots of improvements on the hit list from last year's run display at the KATY Depot.
All for now.
Colder here. Work was quiet. Watched "Arrow" tonight. Game at 8 PM tomorrow. Going to be cold but dry.
BUCKEYE -- I am envious of your circumstances today, all we've had is cold gentle rain Finally, we are done with that oppressive to the senses warm weather and can now look forward to the beauty of the fresh fallen snow and the warmth of a warm wood fireplace. Life will be better for all of us soon
Sadly, I will have to wait about two more weeks for the good life as we are headed to Phoenix and the Grand Canyon soon as the boss along with her sister will be hiking to the Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the canyon. My brother-in-law and I will make that same trip in a helicopter and enjoy fine dinners with wine while the girls are gone for two nights
Our autumn weather has been exceptionally nice this fall, now it's about to get better!!!!!
Jon......Arose at 5:30 am today and hit the rode for downtown Buckeyeland. Ate a good breakfast at one of my favorite spots with all my Boilermaker Brothers and Sisters who were required to learn M=WxL**2/8. Walked outside to see cars driving down the street with 3 inches of snow on the hood.
