TGIF!.  Sunny, in the 80's and muggy here today.  There is a line of thunderstorms a couple of hours west of here.  The storms should be just about clearing the guys around Kansas City about now.

Lots of crisis at work this week that needed lots of donated hours.  I'm beat and right on the edge of some sort of bug.  Trying to get some extra rest to prevent it from getting any worse.

I sure hope that the house and senate get struck by a jolt of common sense and get the budget bill worked out soon.  It is unfortunate that folks like Brutus are getting the short end of this particular stick.

V8 - that is some tale about transferring - or lack of - ownership of your car.  I had run ins with somebody else's parking tickets years ago, but nothing like your adventure.  Turns out in my case, the parking enforcement determined the license plate number by feel, and got it wrong.

All for now.

Good Evening!

Not too much going on here. Mom is doing well with the cancer. The other big news is that my daughter is expecting in the end of April/beginning of May.

Brutus: I hope the shutdown ends soon.

Don: Glad to see you are on the mend.

Brent: The kids will grow up real quick.

SPMan: Ray, loved the Hunting Story.

Chief: I like that  idea using the trailer.

Enjoy the Evening!

The salt problem is more on whats in your everyday items you buy at the store. And then restaurants make it even worst. As all they know is the salt shaker. I'm not a big user of salt but wife is. I've never been big on salt other than on French Fries and Popcorn my wife has salt with a little of what ever is the item she's eating.

Evening all not a lot going on here tonight ( well thats a lie but can't get into it) But all is calm now.

Brutus, hope the shut down doesn't last too long.  My oldest son works for the V.A.. but so far he has not been furlouged.  Some of the people there have.  I guess they still give a rip about our veterans.  Let's hope so.  This whole shut down is just so unessesary!

Don, keep up the good work on healing.

Doug et al, good work on the salt shaker.  I may be in the danger zone myself if I don't watch it.  I like salt too much.

Roy, get well soon.

later,

Ray

Hello all,

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Muggy 63 this AM. The leaves are changing fast. Very warm and dry the past week. The weather has the fall crops ready early. We’re almost ready to start harvesting what looks to be an above average crop. Unfortunately above average crop has created a below average value. We should be OK.

Missed my usual Friday post last week. I spent the first half of it at the ER with Dad. As I was getting ready to leave about 6:30 Mom called and told me he fell out of  bed. The left side of his face is one big bruise but he’s OK.

Seasons last Dirt Drag last weekend. Last Hill Climb on Sunday. Prognos is not good for the fallen rider. Looks like he’ll be institutionalized the rest of his days. Thanks for the prayers.

‘63 Rambler American. My Pap had one.

My YORK Badges came. Been practicing with it. Who else is going?????

Best get busy, try to get back over the weekend

Prayers for those in need

Mornin' Fellas

Hopefully dodged big one. The Murano's Check Engine light came on the other night and my OBD reader for the BMWs wouldn't read the code... so I went to Advance and bought one for $60.00... funny that a $60.00 device would read them, but the $260 BMW reader would not Bang Head... anyway I was able to pull the code (nothing serious) and reset it. Seems the fuel level meter got a high voltage surge... if the fuel gauge goes we'll have it checked, if not we'll just deal with it till we trade the car in. Now I have an OBD reader if I need one again!

Have to go to Pittsburgh after the York meet on the 18th to replace a front porch pillar. So cannot wait to get that house sold!

Brutus - best of luck with the shutdown. We were furloughed last year for a day and will never see that $$$ again, one day threw me for a loop for about 6 months before I could get straightened out! Couldn't imagine losing 1/2 - full month's pay! UGH!

Looking forward to York. I need a break. Smile

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & warm here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Sure could use the rain from Karen.

Dougcertainlynotta - package arrived yesterday afternoon. Bow  I thought I had seen all the stories, but obviously not.  Thanks again.

Roy - Hope you're feeling better soon.

Brutus - Good luck with the shut down.

Doug -- just throw that salt shaker to the curb.  Yes, I know how hard that is.  My biggest problem is going to one of my very favorite restaurants and ordering an Italian Grinder and onion rings, all of my common sense  goes right out the window.  I'd rather die happy than hungry, it's that simple.  Heck, I only go there maybe every six weeks?

If you are going to the restaurant that often..then I do not see any problem. It's when it is every day that it becomes something of an issue.Smile, Wink & Grin

My problem stemmed more from forgetting to take my P pills....and doing this over a week....d'oh!!!!

We will be fine, I think; but it feels like being robbed - again. I pray that we get back-paid when this is over. That happened last time, yes; but since then there have been some in Congress who have said that was a mistake back in 1996 and will not happen again. I sure hope they are wrong! In the meantime, I will use the time to get some things done around here. We should have a partial paycheck on 10/11, but if we don't get back pay we would not get paid again (probably) until November 8th or so. Even if we got back pay, that is probably how it will go. Oh well, a few days off will be okay, just praying we go back to work before the end of the next pay period so at least some money keeps coming in. We will also have to back-pay our insurance etc, after we go back. Ironically, we are in luck and our health insurance will continue during the shutdown of our federal government.  Funny story about that hunting trip!  Chief, you are a silver tongued old fox, as usual :)  TTFN!

Oh PS - basement is done!

Good evening all,

Outnumbered and outgunned, "my" soccer boys still won 5-2 tonight when the other team looked at the boys' won-loss record instead of their heart and started their JV team against us.  Big mistake!  After the smoke cleared, our boys were standing tall.  Meanwhile "my" soccer girls blew yet another win by allowing a goal in the last 2 minutes for a 3-3 tie that gave them 5 for the season.  The boys now have more wins with less players.  Go figure.  The only consolation is that the girls will finish the season with single digit losses for only the third time ever.  My work went well today.   I am not sure it did for some of my coworkers.

Evening all!

It has been awhile. Just too busy to keep up with everything. Came down with bronchitis starting on Sept 19. My doc office has Sat clinics so crawled in got diagnosed and left with a 10 day heavy duty antibiotic regimen.   Unfortunately not feeling any better so went back to doc yesterday afternoon. Says the bronchitis is ok but apparently I have a upper respiratory virus that is really making life difficult. Hard to sleep.

Looking forward to York. All signed up and ready to go. Too bad about Polks/Aristo. They had the booth across the aisle from us so they will be missed. Got to talk to Louis Polk many times in the last few years he attended. Great guy as is his son. Best wishes to them.

Watching the Browns/Buffalo game on NFL network (until SWMBO) comes home from dinner with her friends  and hits the shows she recorded.

Don, great to see you continuing to heal!

Regards, Roy

Evenin' All.

BOC, Gotta watch that salt, that's what put me back in the hospital shortly after my first heart attack. Had a couple of urgent care visits since but no hospitalization. Now I watch salt content on everything that I eat or drink(no more Margaritas). My cardiologist and primary care provider gave me a limit of 1500mg per day but I set it even lower at 1200mg, gives one a little flexibility for special events. Seems to be working but it is really tuff not to reach for that salt shaker. Crying However it beats the heck out of the alternative. Dead The BetterHalf and I continue to attend the CHF support group that our medical provider sponsors.

Museum day tomorrow, debating on halloween trains or not Question

Working on the hallowen layout in the garage, glad I started the first week of September. At the rate I'm going I'll probably finish it all up a day or two before halloween.

Good to see RMT will be sticking around. Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Later all.

Good morning all,

Did very well on the drivers test yesterday at the DMV.  First time I ever got 100% on the written test.  Glad to have that behind me and I should be good for another 5 years.

V8 Dennis, I have that same kind of sqeal in the A/C compressor when I start it up too.  I hope mine is just a belt noise.  It has been doing it for several months now.  After it gets going the noise goes away.  A friend of mine thought it was a bearing wearing out and he is a former mechanic for GM cars.

Nice cool weather today for walking.

My grandson is a small casualty of the government shut down.  He was involved in a program put on jointly by NASA and Cal Tech to encourage gifted students to pursue a career in science and space.  The program was limited to just a few students chosen from all over the country and he was lucky enough to be among the chosen.  He attended a siminar at Cape Canveral in Florida last year.  Anyway the whole program was cancelled after the shut down and the director of the program was terminated.  Needless to say, we are very disappointed.

Chief, good idea to get the trailer for hunting.  Reminds me of a story from a train buddy about a hunting trip to W. Virginia.  He went all the way from California in a pick up truck with a friend of his who told them they had a hunting lodge.  Hunting lodge turned out to be an abandoned box car with no heat or running water.  Takes him about an hour to tell the whole story. It was funny but probably not for him.  BTW, they never saw a deer the whole time. His friend told him they were as thick as rats and rabbits.Whistling

Glad you are OK. I know being furloughed sucks, we were on furlough for a day last year and will never see that $$$ back in our checks. As a Federal Employee don't you get your back pay once it is resolved, or are you a contractor?

It is times like this that keep me from going after those 'highly sought after Federal Jobs'.

Good evening all,

Reffed a very good game tonight.  Local team was a 6 seed playing a 3, but came out on fire, got one goal in the first half and 2 in the second to win a hard fought game 3-0.   We had the lights on and a local girls team has never lost under the lights.  News yesterday about Indy's soccer team as well.  Honda plant in Greensburg is the main sponsor of the team.   "My" soccer girls got some news about their draw in the tourney.  One of the teams slotted does not exist so they may have to do a redrawing of the sectional, which cannot hurt them at all.

Afternoon All,

Doing OK today, nothing great but no big problems either, so that is good!

Bob came over yesterday afternoon, and I should him how to hook up his 3 way, and the associated relays.  (Ross).  Hopefully he should be OK, but I didn't discuss the need for changing the LED positions to get correct signaling.  But we can take care of that after he gets them working.

Wife has gotten involved in some Yoga classes, (I refer to them as Yogurt), so she goes twice a week for 3 or 4 hours.  Its good for her to get away some.  When she gets home today, I'm going out to the train room to see what I can get in to.  Looking forward to it!

Jack, I have NO idea how I fell and what my feet hit.  I have been going over that hundreds of times trying to figure out.  Best I can do is given I only fell about 4 ft, (foot to ground), and I believe my foot had to land on the rail itself.  And, had to have hit that directly on the heel.  Just don't know.

Hope everyone is getting by OK without our government !

Later

Aloha. Beautiful Fall day here again. We're so lucky - though it's too dry. Nice to see Cleveland near the playoffs  - go AL Central. Jack, today it was freight train interference but I got a late slip from Metra today!
