Jack - When we were in FL Christina had to sleep with us - good thing we got a king sized bed because Christina took up 1/2 of it! When we got back to MD she fought us tooth and nail to sleep in our bed, but she lost each battle... that was till last night... neither TheQ nor I had the energy/willpower/wherewithall to do anything than pick her up and plop her in bed with us. Hopefully that will not happen tonight!

My parents were down this past weekend and I was very pleased that they backed TheQ and I on all fronts. It amazes me that at 18mo Christina has already learned the art of playing one adult against another... REALLY!!!!!! Unfortunately she hasn't learned that Mommy and Daddy share the same beliefs... no you cannot have a chocolate chip cookie 5 minutes before bedtime, no you cannot have a piece of candy 1 hour before bedtime, no you cannot have sugar infused drinks 1.5 hours before bed time... but she tries... oh and those flop on the floor and scream your head off tantrums... nope we don't recognize those either.

Mornin' Fellas

Yes I am still alive, if that is what you call my current state of existance. I've been sleep deprived before, but this is INSANE... even the US Army gives you 4 hours of continuous sleep... but not Matthew!

Brent.......yup!!!!  Kids are a younger man's game.  Better you than me. Thumbs UpLaugh

I still don't know how I and my wife twice survived the sleep deprivation game, or how we didn't kill each other during those sleep-deprived years.  At least until we could manage to get the little ones through the night with maybe just one or two temporary interruptions.  I am fairly certain I didn't share a beer with each of them before bedtime. But I pobably should have until they were sleeping through the night on their own. Whistling

Then when you are a grandparent and have the grandkids stay overnight, you quickly discover to your utter dismay at 3 in the morning that your daughter and son-in-law had been letting the then 2 year old get up in the middle of the night and crawl into bed with them, or refuse to go back to sleep in their own bed!!!.  Bang Head  Or you discover that when the kiddies are over for the day and hit the wall at, say, at 3PM and turn into little monsters that said daughter and son-in-law had somehow in their minds decided naps were not needed.  And the little ones start to fight you over it!!!!!!  "Mommy and Daddy don't make me take a nap."

Of course, the little ones quickly lose that battle:  "Grammy and Grampy's rules supercede all other rules in THIS house.  Period!!!  Get to bed!!!!"  It amazes me how some parents try to rationalize matters with a 9 year old or a 3 year old.  It can't be done!!!

My wife is fairly even-tempered and doesn't lose her cool too often.  But when she doesn't get her sleep, watch out.  Following one miserable sleepless overnight with the grandkids about two years back my very tired wife had a serious discussion with the daughter.  She told the daughter in no uncertain terms that if she wanted the kids to spend the night over here again that she had better straighten out a few parental bad habits, that the little ones must sleep in their own beds, must stay there, and they must take naps.

At the very front end of that exchange I heard my wife incredulously exclaim in an angered, raised tone of voice something like "What the H do you mean she sleeps in bed with you and doesn't take naps?!?!?  Is THIS how I raised you?!???"

I wisely stayed out of that discussion, and out of the room.  The wife was on fire and I had all I could handle muffling my laughter!!!! Whistling

Laugh

sir james I
Temp is 34 with full sun. Everything changes tomorrow depending on whether we get more rain than snow. Out this morning to pay house and car insurance. Stopped at Walgreen's for milk and now you have to have another stupid card to carry around if you want the sale price. Idiots. That's my morning so far...S.J.

SJ.........I don't think you have to carry their customer loyalty "card" or have one of their mini cards that fit on your car key ring.  If you signed up with them, just give them your phone number when checking out and they usually can give you your discount and sale prices that way.  At least out my way that is how it works.  Drug stores, grocery stores, pet stores, hardware stores, home improvement stores, the Hallmark store, etc.

Kev - like a three letter word we aren't allowed to talk about here I get it when I can get it and when it is given to me! Surprise

Got my TCA Membership renewed and York Meet Badge ordered over the weekend... I was reminded by TheQ which was a surprise. Guess she feels I need some 'me' time since she will be getting quite a bit over the next month or so with all her commitments. Was nice to hear. Smile

John, I feel bad for it, but it appears that what ever happened to it, has healed that way.  It seems to hoble around ok, I'll give it some time, fortunatly, its not bleeding all over the porch.  Which was a concern.

Hi guys running late. Sunny and low 30s on the North Bluff today.

I just put my first item for sale on E-bay……….I hope I did it right. It is a carb from that 1927 Briggs and Stratton FH engine. If it works out I may list some other stuff I have. I have also listed my 1975 triumph for sale on Triples on-line. We shall see if it sells.

Thanks John, I knew I was confused.  Confused

I will give Danica credit for finishing the race and staying out of trouble. Any other eighth place finisher would not get an interview thou. it don’t look like there will be any passing on the super speedways with this Gen 6 car. What makes me maddest is the guys that go and run around a few laps then head to the garage and just cash the show up money check. E.g. Back row Joe Nemechek. Angry What is NASCAR Thinking??? Enough said. Dots - Sign

Fife, you are right FOX kills it for me too. Commercial overload at the least. It is to bad you can’t get MRN, I listen to it a lot and you don’t have to be watching the race to have a good time. Some times I will be working in the shed and just go in the house to see a replay of something that sounds good.

Brent,, get some sleep. Zzz

I was talking to the wife about the new grandson and she mentioned that she has never been around a baby boy. I told her there is nothing to it ,you just need to know how to take cover when changing the dippers  Wink

Saw the latest Lionel RTR catalog. Some interesting stuff, esp the Remote James, Percy, and Diesel. I may get Matthew the Percy or Diesel set and get one each of the other engines. Have to think on it. Smile

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 41 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Crocuses are in full bloom, which usually spells the end of winter.  Not counting my chickens, but still nice to see.  Gets me thinking of spring commissioning Pirate.

For the record (and read my past posts), not badmouthing Ms Patrick, just the media coverage.  The #51, #98 and #36 (all small teams w/ little funding) also finished in the top 10 (which to me, was cool).  Best part of attending any race, is not having to listen to what the network feeds us.  Just the engines, the flyovers (for now...), the National Anthem, the invocation, the crowd, and the occasional fender wrinkle.  I can't get MRN on the radio here for some reason, or I would turn down FOX.

40 and Sunny here!

Just some running around to do today. Went for a nice long walk with the dynamic duo and the 2 of them behaved the entire time. Chester did not even sneak off to torment a dog that  was barking from a picture window. Now the dining car arrived with the Frosted Flakes.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s.  Quiet day at work.  I do not mind.  I can bad mouth the Princess all I want as the "saucy wench" does not like her either.  She did about what I expected.  Ran well and kept her nose clean.   Did the same thing in Indycar.  Occasionally she was competitive, mostly on ovals.  Despite a road racing background, never really set the world on fire in that aspect.  Wife watched the Oscars and I was on the computer.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Hi GUYZ,

Great race yesterday.  I think it would have been a lot better if there wasn't that wreck at the end.  But DANICA DID finish 8th and thats great.  I think I have a favorite driver now?  DANICAAAAAAAHHHHH!

Ran trains last nite for an hour NO PILE UPs!!!  Then watch Finding BIGFOOT.  They didn't find him yet?  Maybe next week?  They will be in PA.

FIFE, yeah but she is good looking.  Novelty for the race and the big story of the week.  She finished and wasn't in a wreck.

Stay frosty my friends,

laz57

Laz: Nothing is so good looking that I can stand to look at it for 4 yours. I agree with Fife. I want my 4 hours back! Spent my time reading wood working forums with the race on and didn't miss a thing. A few recks and Fox had to spend that time covering her. FOX must be on her payroll. As Fife said, after two more races you will ask "Danica Who?"

Good morning. It's 61°F with 100% humidity. The high will be a wet 72°F.

I'm still waiting for the last Atlas FP7 I ordered. The delivery estimate was between the 19th and 27th and that time is rapidly running out. There's no tracking number indicated so I can't tell where it is at this time. Maybe it'll come in today. If it doesn't no great loss. I only paid $20 for it.

The possibility of any outdoor work today is pretty much nixed by the weather. The weather guesser says 80% (or more)chance of severe thunderstorms. It ought to be interesting.

Layout work is on the agenda today. If I don't get it cleaned up a junk dealer will probably move in and take up squatters rights! There's locos, cars, cameras, tools, bits and pieces of projects and assorted junk all over.

Aloha. Sunny and cold. Looks like snow tomorrow and overnight. Estimates all over the place. Looking forward to spring springing. Celebrated 'Tardy Christmas' with my brother's family yesterday. Caught the end of the big race, and watched a few 50 year old Doctor Who episodes instead of the awards. That P-38 model brings back memories of spending my allowance each week on a different Revell or Monogramm model - cars, planes, ships!  Over the summers, I would generally blow them up.I still have a F-4 Phantom and A-36 Invader in my office... Big Smile

Good morning all.  Still no snow here. Might as well just move onto spring.

I have nothing major on the books for work today, just a smigion of paper work, and what ever customers shuffle in.  Makes for a slow day.  In another month or so, it will break loose once poeple start the "Spring Cleaning " process

Hopefully construction picks up around here this year to generate scrap materials.

we'll see what happens.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Crystal Clear Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

The storms moved off overnight, and I dodged a bullet, only 2-3 inches of the white stuff here.  Points 50 miles West and 30 miles Southwest of me got 6" to 8" while Southern New Hampshire 40 miles to the North and up into Maine a tad more......8" to 12".  Definitely not deserving of the massive weather report overkill we were subjected to in the days leading up to this.  Had the temperatures been 5 degrees colder, we would have gotten a lot more snow versus the rain which preceded it.

I will let the Lord do my snow removal on this one as the temps will lip 40 today.  weather misforecasters already beating their drums for the next storm Wednesday. Bang Head

Later, gang.

but I'm just gonna eat banilla and watch the Oscars,

You mean the commercial marathon. Angry  This was drawn out to well past its welcome.  Unbelievable.  Great show except some of the jokes were not jokes.  Could not believe how long it went on.

I am with the Chief on this one. Surprise  It is like "death by commercials."  I realize some here might be more into movies than I, and I mean no disrespect.  But I can wait to read the list the next day.  And in the interim, watching the blah blah blah is aggravating.  The normal programming elsewhere shows reruns.

I checked the POT a couple of times during the Oscars, hoping there would be more posts, but there were too few.  Youse guyz must have been running trains and indulging in a few BeerBeerBeer.  Assuming that, I followed your excellent judgement. Laugh  Maximus joined me. Thumbs Up

Howdy guys!  Well, I finished the wiring in the basement bathroom today.  I dropped one of those porcelain lightbulb holders like builders put in and it shattered into a million bits.  So I found another one and put it on - dropped it too!  Third and last one was the charm - all out of those things now, lol!  Also I drilled some skin off the palm of my left hand - yikes!  Bit slipped and got me pretty good.  But all the switches work and the light and outlet work, so it's all good!  TARDIS is ready, but I'm just gonna eat banilla and watch the Oscars, so SJ or Mike can drive!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
