Home.  Will not go into the "blonde" thingy my Wifey did about picking me up.  Will explain later.  Has to do with not paying for her gas nor her IPhone [I do both].  I will go into it tomorrow.  She is off the hook for now as she cooked me her great chilli.  I'm going to eat.!!!!!

All you NASCAR male shamanist better be quite.  The lady did good.  Probably would have passed some at the end but the wreck stopped that.  After all,she had the fast car.  Finishing 8th at Daytona and never run that race before, is really good.  Now NASCAR is not a male dominated sport.  If you want to argue, I'll call your wife tomorrow and tell her what you are saying. Wink  Sleep in the dog house with no meals for a few. Laugh

Later.

Well put, Chief.  I agree with you.  Danica deserves the credit she earned.

Hello all

Cold and windy here in the Ol' Pueblo tonight.

Sitting up in the dining hall and I'll have to make this quick. The pre-Oscar's are on and I'm about to hurlIck!

Well the Corvan is now over here at the house. The management approved and my friend Ron and I tried out his new (to him) car dolly and variable displacement Dodge hemi. BothThumbs Up

Hope to organize both the storage unit and the inside of the van tomorrow if the weather isn't too bad.

May run the Marx 999 after the meeting tonight.

Sunny and about 40 today.  Rumor has it that the snow cannon is pointed this way and the trigger will be pulled tomorrow afternoon again.

Watched Daytona today.  The new cars look like they have different dynamics than the older ones.  I'll bet that the teams are still learning about them and the 'look' of the racing will change as the season progresses.

I picked up the 2013 RTR catalog yesterday at the LHS.  I need to figure out how to get a hold of the hopper in the Rock Island freight set.  The new remote control system for the starter sets looks interesting.  I suspect that the manufacturing costs for it is lower than a CW80.

All for now.

Just home from MPLS visiting our almost five month old Grandson and Grammie who took care of him last week and will next week also.   Really had a great time but driving from DM to MPLS is sure boring and that's a good thing at this time of year.

So I DVR'd the race today ........... should I watch it or just hit delete?  I did have a good visit with Mr. Eagles on the way home, we did solve a few world issues so improvements will be noticed soon in everyone's neighborhood, you may not notice them at first but just be patient.

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 30s.  After the Danica 500, I went outside and cut up a large tree limb that had broken off the tulip poplar tree.  Princess Sparkle Pony did ok.  Probably will not watch any more races.  They talked about all the lead changes, but was there ever one on the track during a green flag.  Maybe a few as one lane was faster than the other.  Finished up the puzzle we were working on last night.  Good to hear from you, Dennis W.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening. Made an unexpected trip to Elmira. Unfortunately, Lantz's wasn't open today, so I went to Hobby Lobby. Got my foot in the door as far as WW2 aircraft models with the purchase of an O scale P-38J Lightning. In case you don't know what one looks like, here is a picture from Fine Art America.

Jake........I had a model of this same P38 aircraft 57 years ago!!!!!  One of my all time favorites from WWII.  Once the engineers got some of the stability bugs worked out, this was one of the most feared of the U.S "fighters" and arguably one of the fastest!!!  It didn't turn too well but made up for it with raw speed and armament.  My Dad (RIP) had the model hanging from my bedroom ceiling, chasing a WWI Fokker triplane in a mock dogfight.  He loved the irony of such mix and matches. There's a reason the Germans called them the "fork-tailed-devils". Wonder how they would have done against the Me262A Jet.

Is there a race on today?  Oh, yeah, the NHRA race from Firebird Raceway in Phoenix.....where there are REAL racecars and DRIVERS

IndyCar, USAC and all that lost me when the idiots (Tony George, et al) went from stock blocks to exotic.  Trust me, I'm a BIG fan of Offy turbos and innovations like the INFAMOUS Turbine car.  They killed it.  and NASCAR DIED when they went to "spec" cars and Dodge left (TWICE now).  It used to be a HUGE deal to watch Daytona in my house, even the ex left me alone, took the kids and left for the day.  The surround sound was UP and the wide screen was a workin'......no more...especially with that moron Waltrip (ok, yeah, BOTH of them).  NASCAR has and always will be anit-Mopar...they BARELY let Ford win.  It's a pro Chevy/Earnhart series and I just don't care about it....SoapBox

Off to finish the divorce paperwork and see how I can get distracted....no trains today, maybe a roadrunner sighting later today!

It is 51 and Sunny at Bayville, NJ.

We had a great time at the Ralph's 80th birthday party last night. He was speechless when he walked in.

Well my Yahoo Messenger is finally working like it should. Had a great ride on the Tardis last night.

Today, I did my Church thing and ushered, took the dynamic duo for their walk, surprisingly it was quiet and they both behaved. Now it is clean the turtle tank and continue with my train inventory and of course run them.

Prairetype, Congrats on the 2343C.

Mike: Prayers for your daughter.

Laz: Sounds like you had a Great Day Yesterday.

RT: Good luck with the gravel. I am interested to see how it comes out.

Kev: Congrats on the news on the upcoming Grandson. May everthing work out well.

Everyone Enjoy the Day!

John

The misforecasters strike again.  The ton of snow has not arrived and it looks like instead of the 8"-12" originally forecast has been reduced to 2"-4" beginning later this morning when the rain switches over to the white stuff.  The moisture arrived last night from Roseyville and points South but not the colder temperatures anticipated from the front coming from points West and North got delayed somewhere.

These meteorologists should find another line of work. Laugh

Jack

Morning all almost noon anyway decided to stay home today as my back was still sore from twisting wrong yesterday and couldn't see myself pushing them carts or twisting and bending working the line.

Well cleaned up the train room some or should say layout table as there probably going to have to stand on it to install the vents for the room.

trying to work on ( in my mind ( how ever small it is Laugh ) to make a mold for when I start putting down the gravel in the track and along side it. I'm thinking of trying to basically hide my middle rail if I can will see how it looks when I get done doing it.

Hope all having a good day

Aloha. Sunny and cold. today. I'll be heading downtown to celebrate 'Tardy Christmas' with my brother and his family after church. What a horrific crash in the Nationwide race. I was impressed the driver was able to step out of his car though. Hope the fans recover. Glad there was not too  many folks watching the race. I thought the whole point about the drivers in NASCAR was what kind of high tech and high money support you had - something Janet Guthrie lacked. Danica has never lacked that sort of system. It should make for an interesting race anyway. Go Junior!

Banks, I think it is so cool to have a coal-fired furnace.

Congrats on the impending grandboy, Kev

19 Degrees with BRIGHT SUN.

Late night last night by the time we got home and cleaned up and ready for bed.

Watching the big race today is what is on the plate. What a wreck yesterday. I hope those fans will be okay. You just can't plan for everything. Part of the draw of the sport.

MikeC,  "As far as Danica and Indycar and NASCAR are concerned," I think you nailed it . Well put. I like watching the races from the 80s better than todays. When racing was racing.

Laz, Today gotta do laundry and make soup also take my gals for a long 5 mile walk to the river and back. Yes, the retired life! Cook and clean. Laugh

With that I have to make breakfast.

 Have a good day.

Well we just got back from the SEX party. The new grandchild will be a BOY! Smile

Kevin..........Congratulations!!!!!!!!  Let the train buying begin!!!!  Thumbs UpWink

While a healthy grandchild of course is the most important thing, a grandson would be nice.  Childbirth is nothing to be taken for granted as our family learned the hardest way five years ago next month.  I will pray that all goes smoothly for your daughter and the family and that the stork delivers a hale and hearty grandson!  Angel

I have two granddaughters, but that factory is now closed.  Now it would be up to my son to deliver.......but Las Vegas won't be giving any odds on that.  Laugh Laugh  First, he would have to find a woman who would be, let us say, "in tune" with his ways......meaning, she would have to overlook a lot of faults.  And he didn't get them from me.  I'll take the easy way out, plead the fifth, and blame the wife.  Whistling

Good morning. It's 44° with 88% humidity. The high will be 65°.

I may get some layout cleaning in today but the first order of business is laundry. That should keep me busy the rest of the morning.

I didn't have time to have coffee yesterday. I had an on-line go to board meeting in the morning, and a 1st birtrhday party for my grandson in the afternoon, however,...........I also bought something yesterday.  The older I get the more stretched out the biding-your-time can get.  Now it has been almost 30 years since I bought my 2343's and I planned to get the B unit (2343C) someday.  Well, someday was yesterday.  The price and condition was right and now I have the complete real deal, and a bunch of speedliner 2500's that I have rebuilt from parts over the last couple of years.

A classic will run again.

Even though it won't arrive for a few days, I may take the rest of the set out to the mall for the photo shoot(I gott take something along, ya' know).

We'll see.

Good Sunday morning to everyone, from the great Atlantic ocean to the wide Pacific shoreParadise, the green old flowing mountains to the south down by the moor.HeadphonesMusic

As I sit here on a Sunday morning looking at CT's forum, I started to wonder about those icons at the top of the posting.  You know the ones I'm talking about.  One of them looks like an lifesaving ring, another an anchor.  There is of course the smiley face.  How many of us use the the horizontal rule or the Edit HTML source?  I never have and I have been on this forum since 2004.  Here is what I got when I used insert a new table. (I added the fours so you could see it.)

4 4
4 4

What good is this to me?  I sure would like to know how others use these icons and inserts.  I know how to use bold, italics, underline, cross out  highlight, bullets, numbers, etc, but some of these seem icons seem to be rather useless.Hmm
