Evening all!
Warm one here today (91?) and looks like the rain has given up for the time being. Not good.
Long hard day today. Ugh. basically 7 to 7. Did dash out for quick lunch and picked up some stain for the new fence.
Taking it easy for the rest of the evening.
DougM - for the leg
Have a great evening all!

Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Good evening everyone. Been a long fe days and tomorrow we will keep things up still. Have had some big cases, but all is well. John, good news on Jean, will keep you both in prayer. DougDG, I will keep their family in prayer also. It is a tough thing.
Don, glad no one was hurt. Regarding the whole process of the inquiry, so long as you just state the facts, it will be fine. You hate it for the guy, but lessons are learned and you move on.
Jack, yeah, around here, you have to be a fool to do a home invasion. Just about everyone is armed, and we have lots of protective laws if someone feels threatened. I go recommend folks have a weapon that is loaded and in a quick access vault. I have to laugh when people tell me the gun is locked up in the closet and the bullets are locked in a drawer. Not to many bad guys are going to count to a hundred so you can load your gun. If she won't let you have a loaded gun, then get a can of wasp spray that will shoot twenty five feet, it will blind the bad guys and leave them gasping for breath. If you have an accidental discharge, it is easily cleaned out with some heavy flushing.
Well, I have to get going. Will be a long weekend with MIL coming to visit.
God bless,
Dennis

Have the Nikon all ready ... ordered some new filters for the lenses ... I love the polarized ones I can shoot pics of the huge fish underwater and through glass display areas with no glare . Was out under the tree the other day shooting bird pics and a huge bolt of lightning came out of no-where ..... lol ... WOW did I scramble inside like FAST !!!! .....
The sun has been trying hard to make an appearance, just in time. Wife's plane from Orlando arrived on time, no delays. I picked her and her entourage up at the airport and chauffeured them back. Wife then went in to work in a futile attempt at managing the piles and responding to a zillion emails and phone messages that mounted in her absence. It's like standing under a waterfall with an umbrella.
As I was pulling into the airport to pick up Pam, dodging lost and confused drivers, and trying to take the correct exit for wife's terminal...... the phone rings. It's wifey wondering why I am not sitting patiently at the curbside while fending off the "MOVE ALONG!!!" State Police officers at passenger pick up. Now please understand......wifey knows that in my present condition I cannot talk when I have laryngitis and can't hear too well, with two partially clogged ears. She also knows I don't like to use the phone in the car if I don't have to. I like it even less when navigating around a bunch of knuckleheads in chaotic traffic.
I managed to answer the phone, but she can't hear me because of all the racket from the busses whizzing by her and because of my greatly reduced, barely audible, and diminished voice. You get the drift. I kept repeating as best I could "Hello! Hello!!!!" But she couldn't hear me and she hung up. Then she kept calling me back with the same result, so I just refused to answer and made my way to the JetBlue terminal. "Why weren't you answering your phone?" she asks.
Jack

Aloha. Hot today. Had a bit of a set-back with my leg. Brutus, from our miserable freshman year experience with my son, I;d work with your son right away - talk to his guidance counselor - here there are arrangements to turn things in late and you can see if there are other issues. Great news about Jean. Continued prayers for her and the Wait family

Good morning all, cloudy cool day but no drizzle this time.
Roy, condolences for your uncle. I only have one surviving uncle on my mother's side and everyone has gone on father's side. Makes one aware of our own mortality. Prayers
JohnF, Best wishes to Jean. Good news!
Called both of my doctors offices this morning re my gastric problems. Tried to move up my appointment with GI doctor but he is booked up. Says to keep on doing what I'm doing until I can get in unless there is an emergency. This per his assistant/nurse. Left word for my family physician and told that he would get back to me. So I'm just sticking to the bland diet and avoiding all the obvious problem foods.
Got an E mail with photos from an old friend in Sacramento showing his new layout. Really looks great. He used to be part of our Thursday group down here. Would like to go see him if I can ever get my act together.
Had a nice phone chat with D.Baker yesterday.
Need to get out to the layout today. Didn't go in there at all yesterday.. I want to resume my walking today also.
Big news here was the press conference with all the new Dodger owners including former Laker star Magic Johnson. Vin Scully, beloved and long time voice of the Dodgers was the MC. He has been with them since Branch Ricky owned the team. After all he has been through, it must have been tough for him to stomach a guy like the recent owner Frank McCourt. However, Vinny is and remains a perfect gentleman about such things. Sounds like the new owners are willing to put some dough in the team where needed. Also parking fees will be reduced from $15 to $10. They say they are looking at concession and food prices too. It won't be soon enough for me.

JACK,
It's also Anthracite or hard coal not betumenous which is soft coal and spews out lots o cinders. Hard coal burns real clean and no smoke.

HI JACK,( best not said on a 747)
In our LOKIE at Da Tunnel we use stove coal which is sized at 2 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches. Burns good not to many clinckers unless you get a real "boney" batch. Boney is slang for higher slate content.
Well I did an investigation on the live trap and I think I found the problem. Seems my neighbor shot something that was in it more than a few times. Lots of holes in the mesh where bullets have hit. There was a hole in the step pedal that trips the door and it seems that the bullet hit the metal rod under the center of the pedal and bent it down so the peddle was being held up by that trip rod. I have done some corrections and hope for a better result tonight. Something for the Chief.

SJ.......and I thought it was just me. I compare window washing to detailing the tire tread on my car.
Resting after early Mayor's National Day of Prayer breakfast. Been doing it for 3 years now. Move it from Church to Church.
Was 91 yesterday. Worked on Box until noon. Then outside rest of the day. Got things moved into "little house" [wifey calls storage area on garage] and more arranged in there. Cleaned out big trailer [been catch all since Box moved in] so I can go get "supplies" from Lowe's. Lowe's found my Sound Stop. Celotex has reorganized since class action thingy about aspestos. Another company is making it. Lowe's is ordering. Going to Lowe's later today and do order [walk around and get product numbers and quanity on pad] workup to give to contractor guy. Grady almost finished with ceiling. Got it so clean will not have to strip and then put up plywood. Crown staple right to ceiling boards [tongue and grove 1X4's]. Got wall out of closet/water heater room and made big work area when combined with utility room. Moved new [display Harbor Freight] work bench in. Also fixed a cabinet storage for room. Thinking of ordering the aluminum shelves for train engines for walls. Any one had experience with them?
Watered new grass and gardens. Plants and grass jumped over night.
Kev, this is most effective on raccoons,
Another hot one.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Another Gloomy Day In Taxachusetts,
Drizzle and more drizzle, but not actual rain, is keeping things wet yet another day. While we need the moisture we could use more accumulation for a good soaking and ground penetration after the dry four months we have had......but something is better than nothing. Landscapers out mowing in the wet, don't envy them.
Wifey is on a plane back from business trip to Orlando. I am the limo driver for her and a couple of co-workers, even though the company picks up the tab for private livery. I suppose she prefers me because she can depend on me......or she gets to order me around if needed. Can't determine which. . Anyway, the company had a get-together one night at Epcot and released the hounds last night for Disney, so she got in two nights at Disney plus one at Epcot, caught the fireworks at the latter. Sent pictures by phone.
Crud day four. I still only have about 20% of my voice from laryngitis, but the ear cleared up partially and the throat has improved somewhat, or is it the ibuprofen that is masking things?. Not much one can do with this since laryngitis is usually virus-based and takes its sweet time moving on. On the positive side, I have a great excuse to get off the phone quickly when too many bored people phone me to kill time, my time.
Day 4 with my new smart phone. Already getting way too many texts......need to tell folks to knock it off. A real time waster by and large. I was better off with my old phone. DO ANY OF YOU GUYS TAKE OUT THE INSURANCE ON YOUR PHONES? IS IT WORTH IT?
JohnnyF.........your good news on Jean was music to the ears. Worrisome when one's better half hits these bumps in the road, so I feel your concern and I share your relief.
Roy....... for the Uncle you just lost. All of my relatives from my folks generation have passed. Scary thought. My generation is now on the top of the food chain. The timing of your son's honor event was a good way to remind us there is balance and goodness in life. You must be proud of him.
DougDG....... on the loss of your good friend, Marvin, and prayers for the Wait family. "A heart of gold." I get to wondering how people will remember me, my leagacy.
Charlie........ on Lucas' First Communion. A milestone event, and a chance to show our kids how precious they are, to us, and in His/Her eyes.
KEV.........Chief is always looking for a good meal (what else is new?) and an addition to his wardrobe, a new hat. I'd ship that racoon to him, live. It will stay fresh that way, and he can run over it with his car and then age it himself.
MikeC......I had the good fortune to hear Jim Nabors live at the 1983 Indy 500, when I was dating my wife and trying to impress her by taking her to "The Greatest Spectacle....." Must have worked. She married me.
RT.........you were one busy boy yesterday, playing the role of neighborhood landscaper. Chief is a bad influence in certain respects, and this is one of them. So don't emulate him too much in this regard. We add a tad of chopped celery to the tuna mac, not to much but enough to add some more flavor and a crunch. Re the weed wacking.....the town of Marblehead a couple of towns South of us on the coast just passed a town ordinance banning the use of all weed wacking devices. Apparently the racket was disturbing the folks with $$$. Couldn't be pollution because the wind just takes it over to John Baker.
Blownout.......send some of that heat down my way. It's in the 40s this AM here.
JoeyD.......a fan of New York sports teams I am not. Philly neither. No dog in that fight.
LAZ.......what is the best type of coal to burn in steamers..... to burn the hottest and cut down on the clinkers, and where do the railroads get it? Got to thinking the better coal must cost a lot more for the quality and the smaller amounts purchased.
Wonder what Fife, 88, Banks, and DougM are up to. Hope DougM continues his comeback.
Later, gang.

Good morning. It's 71° and cloudy with patchy fog. The high will be 90° and it'll be partly cloudy. My food stamp card was reloaded this morning with $45 so today I'll be finishing up the grocery shopping. Won't take long with that paltry amount. Later I may take a look at the former site of the Shell Service Center.

Man versus coon round one. The coons got into the flowerpots on the deck again last night and as for the live Trap, Well the banana was eaten and the food in the Tuna can was gone and they moved the can out of the trap, I guess so they could share it with the raccoon kiddies. Round one, I loose. Now I know how LAZ feels when he goes out on the hunt. I have to replace some siding on our chimney that is bad today other than that not much going on. John F good news on Jean, Roy, Sorry to hear about your uncle. DougDG, Prayers for the Wait family

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a beautiful 78 degrees. Going up to 90 today with sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will spend some time outside enjoying the weather. Maybe read the CTT mag under the shade tree. Lunch and then a nap.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.

Konbanwa,
The rain continues in the Land of the Rising Sun. Baseball practice was washed out tonight and I’m hoping the rain stops so the fields have time to dry by Saturday morning. I will be off to bed very early tonight. My boss convinced me to go golfing with him tomorrow morning. Our tee time is at 0700 and the golf course is about 30 minutes away. I have to wake up around 0430 so we can get to the course early enough to warm up and have breakfast. I haven’t played golf in almost two years and I play it very poorly. If it is still raining at 0430 tomorrow I am going to cancel the outing as I don’t think playing in the rain would be any fun.
I was able to watch the first two periods and last two overtime periods of the Rangers – Capitals game while at work today. That was a great game. I know some of you are not going to like this but I am cheering for the Flyers. I am an Edmonton Oilers fan but since they stink and didn’t make the playoffs I have to go with the PA team. I do like how the Kings are playing though.
V8 – No worries.
John – I’m glad to hear Jean is doing well.
Charlie – Congratulations to Lucas. I still remember my First Communion – it was a very big deal.
Kev – Happy hunting.
DJ Spanky – I agree. We didn’t want anything too elaborate since we still have some moves left before I can retire. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Doug W. – I’ll be praying for the Wait family.
Roy – I’m sorry for your loss.
Sayonara,
Joe
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s again. No news since I posted last night. TBIL after I ref the game tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Good Morning
Kinda foggy out here...high near 80F with heat index of 85F...and an ever increasing chance of those t'underin'boomers as well.
Yesterday I went and relaid the track that got clobbered in the derailment/collision...the problem was that a #6 turnout was too close to the back alley behind the three buildings that went ...and, I had a couple of hoppers go to ground there...with the stuck control...all ...beeep..went to ..beeeep
Today, I have to get some more lightbulbs to fix a couple of lights in the trainroom...and, hopefully, give us some more lights in there....
Have a good day!!

Brutus ........ Chewy is a lot better today, very much her old self. Great news!!! She probably did it jumping off the furniture or making a sharp cut while romping around. Kids have just a couple more weeks of school. My son has been flirting with bad grades in a couple of his classes - mostly from turning in his work late for some reason. He can't seem to keep it in his head that he needs to turn it in, not just have it in his bag or in his locker. I sure hope he grows out of this phase, since he has always had really good grades before and he is in the advanced classes - maybe it's a HS freshman thing. Few parents escape this! My Dad had a way of refocusing me whenever this happened. Something to the effect :"Son, you will be of driving age soon. If you ever want to get your learners permit, your drivers' license, or drive one of our cars, the grades come first. No ands, ifs, buts, or explanations accepted." HORROR!!!! NO DL OR CAR????? Fate worse than castration or death to a teenaged boy. By the way, you should be proud that he's got the smarts for the AP courses.....takes after Char. In the meantime, my daughter took the ACT along with HS kids (!) and scored in the top half-percent for 7th graders! She and two others will get awards at a school function in a couple weeks. They have a lower level ACT type test for 7th graders, but we paid so she could take the real deal test with the older kids. She is thrilled and we are very proud of her of course! That's smokin!!!! Another one that has Char's genes. You have to be really proud of your daughter's scores on the "real deal" ACT. Oh well, we shall see how this all plays out! Evening folks,
Had to go to Houston Mon for a family funeral. My uncle was the last of my mother's generation on her side of the family. He had a great life and passed at 84 after a few years in a nursing home due to several serious strokes. He is in a better place.
Had to rush back yesterday afternoon(drove down - faster and more dependable than flying these days) as son had an honors event at 6 pm at the school so could not miss that.
Had to deal with a mound of work in addition to the quick trip. Stayed at my sister's for one night and she has HS internet so was able to keep up briefly on Tues am before driving back. Got back, did son's event, then worked til 1 am this morning and then back at it at 7 this morning. Ugh....
DougnottaG -
John F - great news on Jean's recovery!
Mike C - cool about the Dan Wheldon proposal and Jim Nabors video for Indy this year. I read that Mr. Nabors offered to do the video since he will miss the race for heart surgery.
No time to catch up so hope all are well! for those in need.
Had to give up on the Tardis ride tonight some in the PC is booting me out, Sorry guys
Time to call it a night. Got the grass mowed today then went to the pharmacy to refill my meds then to Wal-Mart to pick up some rice and pasta dinner packets then to Captain D's to get my dinner for today. No work on the layout but I did run some trains. GP7's 116/544, GP9's 7270/1809 and the F3 A/B set #500. Maybe tomorrow after more grocery shopping (food stamp day) I'll run F7A/F3B/F2A Frankensteins. Good thing I don't have any bridges. They'd have to be built heavy to support that trio. See y'all tomorrow.
Evenin' All.
Been MIA for awhile, 10#'s of stuff in a 5# bag so to speak, been checkin but haven't felt like posting.
Tonight I need to post a request, a friend who is also a train nerd & motorhead passed away last night but above all he was a man with a heart of gold. Please say a prayer for the Wait Family, this past year has really been tough for them with the loss of three generations. As his wife said if you want to know who Marvin was just play Sinatra's "I Did It My Way".
Thanks guys.

Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s. Work goes well. Picked up last paperwork from attorney and will meet with sister on May 14 to go over final details. Then it will be over from a legal standpoint as far as dad's estate is concerned. It has been a long pull, but I am rounding the final turn and I see Pat Vidan getting ready to wave the checkered flag on this event. I see where they will make a video of Jim Nabor's singing "Back Home Again in Indiana" as he will not be able to attend the race this year. It looks as if there may not be 33 cars for the race this year. If that is the case (and I hope that does not happen), someone made the most eloquent suggestion I ever heard. That person had the idea of someone lining up 33rd in Dan Wheldon's car from last year on the parade and pace lap and pulling into the pits as a tribute to a fallen champion. I can think of no finer idea. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
PS It is May in Indiana!!!!
