Chief, hope everything goes well with your procedure. I talked to my own hospitalized friend yesterday and the news was not too good. They said he had a heart attack. Further investigation determined that he had 90% blockage in one artery and the others were compromised to a lesser extent. He has decided to go ahead with open heart surgery which will take place on Friday. He had a triple by pass 17 years ago so it's a real downer for him to have to go through this again. I am going to see him today. He said they tried to put a stint in the blocked passage but were unable to do that.

Chief good luck on the Cath. thing, hope you get to come home but then you don't want blood clots either so do what they say. Only the Chief would buy a bike with the sidecar on the wrong side. We have been out for groceries this morning, hope we are done for awhile...S.J.
A good chat with some of the guys last night.

Wow it is foggy.
No wife last night, just me and the cat, she was at the daughters babysitting. Hope they had less fog than we have here for her drive into work today.
Chief, best of luck to you today with the appointment.
Guess I will see what the day brings.

Konbanwa,
I had a fairly busy day at work but nothing too extreme. The princess and I had a simple dinner tonight: cereal. My wife and older son went out for dinner together. I offered the princess a hot meal but she wanted cereal and that worked for me.
Dennis - I'm glad you're so close to completing the layout.
Kev - Thanks for the photos; everything looks great. I'm happy the ZW is working out for you.
Chief - I hope all goes well at your appointment.
Sayonara,
Joe
Chief - Best wishes on your procedure.
Banks - Application signed and sent to Brent.
Chief I've had 2 caths as long as you have someone to drive you home unless they find something wrong they let you go home the same day. They would of me but I was 60 miles away and my other 1/2 doesn't drive so she stayed here and I had to stay over night.
Well in a little while I'm going to hook up my router I guess and see how things go from there. will be nice to use laptop anywhere in the house.
Then when I get the desk top back it can be hooked up to its old cable and be fine its way also
Not much else going on here.
Chief best of luck with the results of the heart cath.

Mornin' boys. Overcast & 50 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Tough sledding at work this week...
Roseyville Raider - Just let us know when you'll be in town.
rt - Nothing like a good laptop on your birthday.
What?
Aloha . Very foggy but I'll take that over snow. Hope it's a quiet day too. Kev, beauty of a layout!

Good morning. It's 63° and cloudy with fog and a 20% chance of rain this morning. The high will be 75° with a 30% chance of rain for the afternoon and evening. Looks like it's going to be wet all the way through to Monday.Got a doctors appointment in a couple of hours so I don't really have time for anything else this morning. There's been a lapse in security on the layout. The wolf spider has died. In time a suitable replacement may come along. Well, see y'all later.

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps near 50. Next to last day of "Dawn Patrol" (coming in at 6:30). Next week I will feel like I am sleeping in. Finally got some results from IT late yesterday. Will be interesting to hear what transpired. So nice yesterday I washed "saucy wench"'s van. Played indoor soocer for about an hour. Got tired. Maybe I am getting too old for this. Will see how next week goes. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Busy day. Got home and dinner at 8. Reclinerized. Off to bed. Tomorrow, heart cath at 11:30. Hope to be home but may have to stay at hospital.
Sleep tight.

Mostly sunny and about 60 again today. Weird weather for what is supposed to be the middle of winter.
RT - happy birthday.
Got a meeting notice on my e-mail at work late this afternoon for an all salried employee conference call first thing tomorrow morning, followed shortly by another invitation for a followup department meeting. The EF goes up another notch! This is probably the official announcement of what has been cooking under the surface for the past few months. The next few months are bound to be interesting.
All for now.
Jon told the chief he may come visit this summer so the chief went out and bought a motor cycle with a side car for lucy
Chuck...It is about time we start planning a raid to Texas.
I have used suitcase connectors for years on the layout and maybe I've had two that didn't work because I didn't have the one wire far enough into the suitcase to make contact. In fact, I need to go to the store and buy about fifty more. I wonder what I'm doing wrong to get them to work. I'll try and read the instructions the next time.

Evening all thanks again for all the wishes. As stated earlier all I got for my birthday was this laptop (last weekend (early birthday present) and a wireless router and carrying case today for it.
Waiting for the tardis and see who shows up tonight. been a fairly peaceful day and relaxing.
Talk to you all later have a good one.
Hello all,
Quick pass through on the way to bed.
RT hope it was a good one.
Unfortunately I've had many run ins with suitcase connectors. They are not good in areas of high humidity or heavy load. And you'd better use the exact wire size on them. The only thing worse is some of these new push in connectors that are just coming on to the market. A salesman gave our company some to use. They didn't last long under heavy load. (a washing machine receptacle) Burnt to a crisp before it finally burnt off.
Kev, Nice pre war.
Son was in Lancaster Pa this past weekend. He went to the TCA museum and they are closed. What's up with that?
Off to join Mrs in bed.
Prayers for those in need

Went to the fire dept meeting tonight. They had more on scenarios (continuation of last time) to see how much the people remembered. A few new things were added and I was able to pass on some of my knowledge and experience. These sessions aren't really like a classroom thing. Getting information from a teacher who may or may not have 'hands on' experience is one thing but getting it from someone who's been there and knows first-hand what can happen in any given situation is something else again. Having a fire scenario presented in text book fashion is OK but it's been my experience that the fire didn't read that text book. Some small change can make the situation start going south in a hurry and you have to be able to recognize it and do something about it. A text book presents it in steps of A, B, C ,D but when you're out there and it goes A, B, and suddenly R jumps in there what do you do? The teacher is NOT there and mommy and daddy aren't there to comfort you. You have to know what to do and that's why learning from a seasoned veteran is important. They've been there. But enough about that.Time for me to call it a night. I have a doctor appointment early so I need my rest.
Buckeye RiveterYou noticed who was holding the Buckeyes in the photo.
Whoa - not gonna touch that one.....!
Evening all - wow 4 pages on day 1!
A warm one here. Cold front tonight and then back to 60's tomorrow. Maybe rain Friday. The good news here is all the rain a week ago nearly refilled many of our lakes. Many within 2 ft of conservation level. A couple that were 12 ft low are only 6 ft low.
Kev - great layout pics. Love the tinplate train. Sorry about the GRITs in the ZW but you need to be careful - remember secondary exposure to GRITS - you better send the ZW to me as I do not wish you to have additional health issues...
RT -
Jeffrey - interesting about the suitcase connectors. I have had the same experience. They are extremely unreliable and I had to undertake a removal program also. I even called Applications Engineering at 3M about it. No help.
Dennis - good news about your adoption paperwork. Hope it continues to go well!
Regards, Roy
RT....Happy Birthday
Nice shots there Kevin. Jack, be sure to register your model and serial number with the consumer protection agency. Chances are, they will expand the recall and that way, you may benefit from a class action suit or direct compensation from the manufacturer.
What a day! Been going since early this morning, and will have to return tonight about ten. Hope it is a quick case. Wife paged me earlier saying the kids were upset as they have not seen me in two days. Had to come home in between cases so I could see them before they went to bed. Tomorrow will be another crazy day.
It is raining tonight and supposed to do some more through the weekend. That was why I wanted to get the trees in the ground. Now, I just need to keep the deer away from them till they get big enough. With any luck, we will have fruit before too long.
Rich, not sure if you got my response on the Relief Association on the last pot. Email me with any specific question, or even a general idea and I can see what I can do. I still have friends who can make things happen.
Well, I must get going so I can see the kids off to bed.
God bless,
Dennis

Okay guys here's the deal. If you check Facebook, there are tons of women wishing RT a Happy Birthday.
Jack....Miss Pam was an extraordinary amount of help when I had to escape Roseyville. You noticed who was holding the Buckeyes in the photo. There are a few others on this forum who have held those same boxes.
Next raid visit is to Baltimore, MD, the home of the fifedog and fifepup. I think Brent lives around there too with Susie Q.
Demay Konbanwa, Kev - Sayonara, Joe
Kev -
Joe after seeing you UTB video and you pre-war cars well I just had to get mine off the shelf and try it out with the new to me ZW. These are for you.
Tks,
Kev.
Best wishes RT -- hope your day was outstanding!!!!!!!!!

So many roads, so little time.
41 degrees now, we had sun all day. I played with the new OGR forum for awhile today, different but workable. I will wait and see who shows for Chat tonight, Charlie may stop by so I could be late..S.J.
Happy February!
Work is .... different. I got my old employee number and e-mail back...part time and it's like old times.....and I don't have to shave my 'stache!! Very happy to be back washing cars at the little "e"!
Jack - Dude, you've been HAD!!!
RT - Happiest of Birthdays my friend!
Colin - yeah, it's best you left that one....sounded toxic at best. I tell my daughter they're be many frogs before you find a prince. Don't settle.....wait for yours...and that my young friend, is from experience.
I missed my chance at my soul mate and she missed her chance at me...multiple times. Age showed me/our mistakes. I'm happy that we are friends, we talk off and on and I'm just happy we CAN talk.
OK - enough with the life lessons...moving on...
Kev - yeah, you'll love the ZW...I have a Post War 275 and a Modern. Love them both.....
Your layout looks great....like it!
Buckeye - so that's what the perpetrators look like.......
I'm off to get gas and check on the Princess...
Have a good night all!

Had a small electrical issue with the layout. Turned on the Zephyr and pressed the button for track power. Indicator lit and got power to the track then there was a puff of smoke just under the edge of the layout and then no power to the track. Problem turned out to be a crimp-on connector that was missed when I went to all soldered wire joints. The connector had corroded inside and compromised the connection, resulting in the wire burning in two. This is a perfect illustration of why I got away from crimp-on and suitcase connectors. Even at their best they're undependable. I'm pretty sure that was the last one.
Happy birthday RT and many more. Got in my walk this morning and it felt pretty good with the good weather we are having.
Have not talked with my friend in the hospital yet today. Wanted to go visit but I have to pick up grandson from school. Maybe later.
Buckeye, nice pics of you know who and Ms Edna. Where is your picture? Don't tell me they put it on the Roseyville Post Office wall.

Well took the desk top to UPS store so it can go back to N.J. and they can fix it correctly this time I hope.
Bought a wireless router so I can use the laptop anywhere in the house.
Went and did grocery shopping for the next 2 weeks. Still need to get a few things thou.
Bought a carrying case for my laptop also today.
No Flange wheel presents as my present became the lap top when they didn't fix it right the first time and I needed a computer
