Good morning. It's 68° with heavy clouds and thunder. The high will be 72°. There's an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms.

Here it is 7:25 am and it's still pitch black dark. We're under a flash flood watch for what looks like a good part of central Louisiana. The lake is back up to it's normal level and probably a little above by now. I'm glad my home is on a hill top about thirty four feet above lake level. The highest the water has ever come up was twelve feet. It couldn't go any higher as the water was pouring over the top of the dam. For some reason the flood gates wouldn't open. Jammed up with logs I think.

Well, already this morning I've added weight to all seven of the KO&G boxcars. It took a piece of sheet lead the length and width of the car to raise the weight to 3.9 - 4.2 ounces. The dry ice reefer is next.

Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and the wife will be calling me about the house she is looking at. Looks pretty good for us. I might get a nap later.

So far it has been a great Saturday.  The youngest and I woke up first and enjoyed some breakfast (Raisin Bran) together.  I had a second breakfast once the wife woke up and decided to make some eggs and bacon.  We enjoyed some coffee together and watched a couple episodes of Rick Steves’ Europe.  I knocked out some minor touch-up painting that needed to be done and helped start some laundry.  I will need to spend some time this afternoon finishing some schoolwork.

Dennis - My Yankee blood loves the cold temperatures.  I am out there running on my own initiative and would be if it was 20 below zero.  I have the appropriate cold weather running attire which keeps me safe. 

Doug - I hope everything goes well with your eyes.  I suppose listening to the game would be fun too.

Jack - If I can only get Chuck to aim the snow cannon out here I'd feel like I'm in the Northeast for the Super Bowl which the Giants will win.

Good Evnin' Y'all From Clear and Seasonal Taxachusetts,

Grammy Pammy and Grampy Jack's place was chosen by secret ballot to be the host venue for the Super Bowl on Sunday.  Grammy and Grampy knew nothing about the vote.  That means housecleaning.    My recovering buddy Frank plans to join us but is worried that my daughter's chili may have too much sodium in it.  I assure him it would be sodium free.   Will have to figure out an alternate meal plan for him.  Where are the grits when you need them?

I hope this hour leaves KEV and Jeffrey with some easing of their foot issues, and DougM able to run some trains following his eye procedure.   

RaySP......hope your buddy has come through the surgery OK. 

Chief....you had better be laying low or your wifey will have to duck tape you to your recliner.  Check that thought.  She would never do that because she needs you to tend to the dogs at last call.

Darren.......been following the Colorado snowstorm while I look at my brown lawn, knowing this is one of the most snow free Winters on record here; hope your snowblower is doing the job and that the beer inventory satisfactory for you to weather the storm.

David/Train Master......don't be a stranger!  No anti-HO bias here.  Jeffrey sees to that.

Dennis......you are outside posting to the POT?  Guess that makes sense.  Then your wife only has to go to the back door and yell once to get all of the "kids" inside.

Rain and 40's today. 

I started working for a new company yesterday.  The Brizilian holding company of one of our competetiors bought us and combined our (ex)competitor and us into a new company headquartered in Michigan.  They have been working on this for the last few months, and finally closed the deal yesterday.  The waiting is over, and actions now begin to combine the two companies into one.

This is a good move, as we are now owned by a company who actually maked money by building things instead of a group of banks who make money by doing deals.

Time for me to call it a night. It's been very busy day what with all the work I did on the rolling stock and I'm very tired. Not to mention bringing the groceries in. Good evening everyone.  It is a good evening.  Today would have been Mom's birthday, so a little  pause to think about her, but we are always missing her. 

Dennis, it is a disfunctional system.  So many items have been added to the rules out there, one could hardly decifer the ones that would otherwise make sense.

Ray, depending on what they are doing, the surgery could take anywhere from a few hours to more than 9 hours.  If they are only doing a few bypasses, it should be about 3 to 4 hours.  If they are replacing valves, it may be a bit longer.

I have several projects I want to do on the layout, but really do have to finish the taxes to turn into the accountants.  Also have to get the area around the house cleared as they are supposed to start replacing the roof next week.  It is amazing how many houses all in this area have damaged roofs.  They have a print out that shows the area affected, the roofer told me that people on the other side of town are trying to get insurance companies to pay for a new roof, but the images that they have show no hail occurred over there.

Well, wife wants me inside to watch Lord of the Rings, so I had better get going.  I pray that each of you has a blessed weekend.

Wish me luck! Hope I can see the game. Ran trains last night. Shored up much of the 'sky' - which is Blue banquet tabe wrapping, and ran them all. Tinkered with the AF repro coal loader. The bucket isn't dropping back into the coal pile again. Prayers for Char, Ray's buddy, and the rest of us. Glad you are OK, Chief!

Dennis, thank you for the input re post op heart patient information.  As I recall, I had those breathing treatments myself even for non heart surgery but I also have some form of COPD.  They  had me pushing air through some kind of hand held device as well to keep up my lung function I guess.  I heard it was  to help prevent pneumonia.  Anyway, my friend is doing that too.  He is in heart surgery today as we speak.  He told me yesterday that it would be a lengthy operation perhaps several hours so all we can do now is offer prayers and hope for the best.

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s.  Quiet day at work here as hardly anyone came in.  Finally got our IT issues taken care of.  That is a relief.  It has been great weather here in Indy this week, and traffic has not been bad for me going home either.  Will be nice to be back to a normal schedule again.  Chief, glad to hear they did not find anything wrong.  Dennis W., wife brought home a copy of your latest film from the library.  Hope to watch it this weekend.   Brutus, we all have weeks like that.  Glad I could drive last night.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL and I can drive again.  I hope everybody has a good day.

So far I've converted two of the cars to body mounted Kadee's. One is an AHM GN boxcar an dthe other is a Roco covered hopper. The hopper had a pair of oversize trucks secured to it with large ugly screws. They had Fleischmann couplers and huge flanges that could cut the thickest pizza. I refitted it with AHM trucks. A big improvement.

A major thunderstorm is moving in so I'll be getting off of here pretty quick.

Dense fog again today, Surprised the wife opted to go to work. I hated driving on the interstate in dense fog for fear of something like what happened in Florida a few days ago. You never know what can happen when you have people that are driving too slow and then the ones that drive too fast. A crap shoot at best.

Not much going on today.

Chief, interesting article on the stray cats. Most people shoot them around here and I always kind of worry if someday George will end up in someone’s sites even though he has a collar and tags you never know.

Good morning everyone.  Going to be heading in soon.  It should be a light day, but then again, it can change at any moment.  The insurance adjuster was not able to make it to inspect the house the other day, but when I called him yesterday evening, he said the roofer sent photos and he will be here Monday with a check.  At least that is taken care of.

Joe, it is to go up to the low 70's here.  I don't think I would be outside at 19 degrees, even if it were to be running....at least not by choice.'

Got to watch "Trains and Locomotives" on RFD this morning via DVR.  This episode was on the Susquehanna Steam trains.  The locomotive was one that was built in China back in the early 90's.  With any luck, we will get the chance to take a steam train ride when we are in China, but I think they are on the verge of being phased out there too.  The province where our kids are is one of the main rail hubs for the entire country.

Chief, not sure of the motives on why you were sent, but it certainly is a good thing to have your heart checked and now you can have some element of peace about how yout ticker is doing.  Just keep doing what you are doing....but you may need help with fending off the yankee horde.

Bob, good luck with things, hope you are able to secure a good place to live and work on your projects.  Don't forget to designate at least a little area for a layout.
