Good morning. It's 38° and wet. Wind chill is 32°. Showers in the morning. Showers and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. High will be 55°. There's a 90% chance of rain. The rain will continue tonight. It seems damp, cloudy and wet are the words of the day today. I won't be doing anything outside today so no problem. I'll see if I can get started on some weathering work today.

Good Morning CTTFans!
It's 30F and Partly Cloudy here and once again they are talking about another storm passing through here on Tuesday. AT least we got some melting which mostly got the ruts cleared on the side streets. Time for a quick bite and some coffee before starting my 12+ day work week; YUK! Big IT upgrade project this weekend so it's going to be a long week before my next weekend off. It's a paycheck...

Aloha . Baby niece still has to stay in hospital. At least another day. I ll run up and visit her later. 8n, that's a nice J - Here I'm dating myself - I have a favorite 'record album' of 'hooters' - the engine whistle that is... Jack, that's got to be Maximus. He doesn't have a thick coat like Rudy the Wonder Dauschund who gets blamed all the time for turning up the thermostat here. Ran trains last eve - no pile ups!
Doug Murphy 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers...' Henry V.
Morning all!
No snowhizo here. It tried last night but we were able to repel the attack and turn it into rain - something we need! The Chief will be proud!
Bust day today - have a great one all!
Regards, Roy
Konbanwa,
I had a nice four-mile run this morning. I started just after sunup and it was 34˚ F. The workday went fine and nothing too exciting happened. Tonight's dinner consisted of brown beans; cornbread; roasted potatoes; and tomatoes. Afterwards, we ran the trains for a short while and although we didn't have any pileups, the kids placed some toy cars on the track and we had the loco push them around for a bit. The speeds were slow and kids thought it was great. The Rick Steves DVD we ordered arrived today. It contains about 12 twelve episodes from 2009 and the wife and I watched two on France. It's time to finish some schoolwork and then get some sleep.
Doug - That's great news about your nephew and niece.
8N - Your new set looks great.
Charlie - How come the pileup wasn't on the video?
Dennis - Amen.

Joe

Was I coming down with something? Thought so until I took a look at the thermostat and discovered it was set at 75. The dog must have turned it up. Either that, or the wifey took full advantage of my dormant state on the sofa and turned it up. Whom do you think was the culprit? Pleasant dreams, ya'll. RT.........I think I need to get a heat pump like the Chief and then disconnect the oil fired furnace. The air exchange ones don't fare as well when the temperature differential grows between the outside ambient temp (was 13 here last night) and the desired temp inside. At 0 degrees outside they are near nuetral, generate no heat. The in-ground ones? Would have to dynamite out the New England ledge rock and boulders to get one down below the frost line.
And if the heat pump malfunctions like the one in Chief's BOX, it will surely teach wifey a lesson to appreciate 70 degrees inside. Thinking ahead, the only problem is that I will need to figure out how to stay warm after being exiled to the (attached) garage which not heated. It's currently in the high 30s out there. Of course, Maximus the dog has no worries, will remain warmer in the house with said wife since he ranks above me around these here parts.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a clear and cold 24 degrees. Going up to 36 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping. I have a few chores to do. Gas prices went down to $3.09 a gallon, a few weeks ago. Now they are back to $3.49 a gallon. Must be somebody's birthday.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck
Morning all, it is a light day on the schedule, so I will head in a little later. I have been given a honey do list to tackle. It is twenty eight degrees here, what is with that? This is a short week as I have some conferences I have to go to. At this rate, might be awhile before I get some train time in.
Jeff, I used to work with my father's company building emergency vehicles, wiring lights, sirens, etc. to own one of these could prove a challenge. Typically, each department, or even each company has a "mechanic" who likes to rig things. Needles to say, this can create quite a myriad of wiring issues.
Got some good news on the movie front. "Courageous" won multiple awards at the Movie Guide awards, including best picture. We were not in contention for the Academy Awards as it was not a union movie, we didn't have SAG on set. Wasn't what we did, but what God did with our efforts.
Hope everyone has a blessed week ahead.

Time for me to call it a night. It's been a taxing, tiring day. I'm sure many people could have handled the work on the van quite easily. For me it was hard work. Well, see y'all tomorrow.
Jeffrey - Great photo!
Hello all
Windy and cold here on the mountain tonight, w/ a fairly good dusting of snohio tonight. Probably be closed most of the shift. Hope to finish up the Marx windup for my friend's son.
Just read in Trains the the 3751 is coming to Arizona in May. Two operating Northern's in Arizona in less than a year? Awesome.

Time for me to call it a night. Low tonight will be 34, a bit warmer than last night. However it's looking like there'll be a 70% chance of rain in the morning. Another wet day in paradise. See y'all tomorrow.

Hydrogen Peroxide injection? That is used to remove the sulfur smell from deep-water wells here that get their water from aquifers running through here that get their water supply from southern states like NC. it also works for the snowy white beard. Kev.

Sunny and about 30 degrees today. The ice I picked up on my car driving across southern Michigan Friday night finally melted off in the sun.
Made a run to Michican the last half of the week to visit mom. Her speech is much improved.
Got news that my sister's surgery was sucessful Friday. The tumors they were after are gone and no surprises were found.
Got my N&W J Class on to a test track today. It has a really neat whistle.

Guess I'll need to start shopping for a #175 Rocket Launcher now.
The 'syncronized puffing smoke' on this one seems a little odd. Basically, no smoke when it is stopped, and a steady stream of smoke when it is running. So far, I have not seen much of any puffing.
This is the 2006 version. Anybody else have one? If so, what kind of smoke output do you get?
Prayers for healing.
All for now.
Good evening all,
Just a quick post before we have to go out to eat. Been gone all day with church, followed by train meet and now just finding time to look at forum.
Found a nice American Flyer operating water tank at the meet for $15. Couldn't turn that down. I saw one last month for $45.
Chief, nice job on the deck and banisters for the box. Sympathy for yankee weather. My sis in Jacksonville, N.C. must be feeling that cold too. We got some showers yesterday and it looks like maybe more tonight/tomorrow.
Will read the forum in greater detail when I get back.
Later,
Ray

Evenin' boys. Made a run for the hills yesterday, but not before car trouble made us switch vehicles, then hitting a white-out condition through Martinsburg. Had nice visit with my folks, and looked at a couple more properties on the way out. Looked like ice planet Hoth on the top of Backbone Mountain.
IIABSDISEI with temps near 30. Sun was warm on back porch and wife did not have any chores for me to do so I got to spend 2 1/2 hours running the Alaska set with various combinations of rolling stock. I use a Lionel GP-9 from the RTR set from the late 1990s and it normally runs well. Lately seemed to have a case of the "slows". A little grease on the gears and some oil on the axles and it is running much better. Days like this help me to remember why I got into this hobby. DougM., it is truly sad to hear about Whitney Houston. Always enjoyed her music. Hopefully it was not a drug OD. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning. TBIL after "Desperate Housewives". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Whole lot of nothing going on here today. The temperature is at 44 with wind chill of 40. Never got above 46. Looks like tomorrow will be warmer but wet.
KRMThe Yankee weather invasions can run deep and fast. We get in, knock you guys off your feet with a cold blast then retreat back to the north.
Yes - and it is usually a FAST retreat
KRMBTW the freeze protection circuit is working like a champ. Thanks again.
Good news - you buy more trains with the savings!
Still cold here due to the continued northern agressionists but we will persevere - 70 by Tues (but maybe some snowhizo tonight ).
Doug M - that is good news about the kiddos!
Jeffrey - the yard photo from last night
Have a great evening all!
Buckeye Riveter ChiefEagles: Morning all. You Yanks are giving us REBS a rough time. Cold and windy. Only one thing seems to help. Usually when we are cold, you are colder. However, we own warm clothing that let's us go outside in that wind and cold. Plus we have a real furnace, not a heat pump for the house!!!

Again, Buckeye the all smart engineer has mised it. Would NOT have a heat pump in my house. All natural gas and high efficiency natural gas furnace. The Box has a heat pump but it is a "split" which is more efficient than a central unit. It actually puts out warm air. Was going to convert the Box to gas but my buddy in Heating and Air said no. This little unit would work great and save $$$.
Actually has warmed up and wind has stopped. Still have congestion, cough and fever. After making a "run" by CVS and had my favorite druggist get me some over the counter drugs, went to Lowes to get more finishing nails for the nailer. That is why we didn't finish deck yesterday. Ran out of finishing nails.
The Box since you last saw it.
Good afternoon everyone. Getting ready to head back to church. Doug, good news, pray for continued healing.
Mike, thanks for the comments on courageous. It is a labor of love. Regarding the violence at the end, the story needed to be believable. Yes, that is our church at the end, you can't see the balcony, so it looks a little smaller.
Will try to check in later. God bless,
Aloha . The hawk is out here - a local expression meaning it's cold. Good news about the nephew / niece The boy was discharged today and the baby moved out of the ICU. THanks for your prayers. Speaking of babies, I unexpectedly got dragooned into serving in the infant room at church this morning. It's always nice to hold babies whilst their parents can attend the services. Ran trains today. No pile-ups so far!
