Lunch Time,
I had to just add my 2 cents in about DIESEL PICKUPS. We have a "few" Ford SuperDuty, Chevy/GMC 3500HD and Dodge 3500s for different applications. The "older" Fords with the 7.3 were the best. We stiil have most of them dating back to the early 90's. The 6.0s were so bad that on trucks we are replacing are all V10 GAS. We have problems with the injector pumps on the older Duramax and egr problems with the newer Duramax diesels. My 09 shop truck is a good example. The Cummins is great in the Dodge but Colin is right, the automatic transmissions are horrible. Taking the cab off the Ford is not bad, if you do not have pto's and other added equipment such as an aerial lift, compressor, etc. We made a bracket to remove the 6.0 without having to remove the cab. As for me, I would go with a GAS POWERED pickup. The new diesels require you to add DEF Fluid and our new Freightliners w/ Cummins are a real treat. We have 1 with 4,000 mi on it that blew the turbo and did damage to the engine that Cummins and Freightliner only want to cover the turbo and not the engine. The International Diesels do not require DEF Fluid for they use a mass flow EGR system. The new gas engines to me seem to be the way to go. They have proven to me that as of now, I would opt for the gas engine. Just my 2 cents. Each his own

Well. I was going to run the wires for the switch today but the weather isn't cooperating. It'll have to wait til tomorrow. At least I have the tools together, the most important of which is the meter to be used to isolate the ignition wire on the relay.
Blueberryhill RR Buckeye.... I received your invitation in the mail yesterday. Thank you for inviting me to your Birthday party on Feb. 18th. I can't believe you rented a private train car, for the party, to go around Horseshoe Curve. Chuck

And the tattoos are a dead giveaway......that's Chuck on the right. And they both like to take naps. Jack

When I was reading Jeff and Kev comparing pains it reminded me of some old war movies of Soldiers comparing battle wounds. I was about to see if I could find a photo or video clip when I saw this headline on in the news "Arnold, Sly in Same Hospital". They had a photo showing them laying next to each other and BANG, it seemed like it was the perfect photo. Can you imagine the talk that these two were sharing in such a setting...
Jeff/Kev, I do feel for both of you and with my wife having 8 screws and 2 rods holding her spine together I know 2nd hand what it's like to live with major life long pain. I also know when I find something that helps make the wife smile the pain seems to be less so please take this photo as nothing more then me hoping to have given you both a brief laugh / smile as well...

Good Morning CTTFans!
It's 19F and Sunny here at 5280+ and they still say we will see some snow on Saturday. Things at least melted enough yesterday that when I got home I was able to break away part of the road ruts in front of the house.
RockIsland52 KEV.........other than gang drive-by's, July 4 and New Years are the worst for stray bullets up my way. Folks run out of fireworks and use the next best thing. Acid rain? No problem.. Lead rain? Worse. Lucky it was your tree and not you or your car that got hit.

RIJack,
I was hoping that the house, wife, cat or I were not hit, never thought about the car.
On the weekends it sounds like the 4th of July all year out here. Part of why they call this place Marstucky.
Pat I agree with Chief, just shoot a little to your southeast. You know some of them buzzards may be kin to Chief.
Banks, your right, LAZ and fifedog have been slacking this week. What year and size is your Oliver?
You know Chief, you can leave the farm but the farm will never leave you.
Had a guy come look at the boat yesterday, hope it sells could use the money for other things.
Got to get some breakfast, later,
Aloha . Grey and supposed to snow downtown today - lake-effect - think I'll be home by then. Hope everyone is feeling better soon. Spent all morning yesterday getting the airbag seat sensors swapped out of the SUV. Brutus, Good news about Char. I get the same thing done this spring. Just had some surgery to prep for it last Fri. I viewed some of the O gauge layouts at that Festival of Railway Modeling in England. Gorgeous work!TGIF!

Good morning. It's 45° and mostly cloudy with a small cave-in at one end of the culvert at the turn onto the main dirt road. The high will be 57° and there's an 80% chance of rain. That should help clear the culvert.Well I thought I was going to have to go in search of a heavy duty push-button or rocker switch to fix the random tripping of the starter relay on my van. I'm pretty sure now that's being caused by a fault in the steering column and I'm not changing THAT out again unless I absolutely have to. Thanks to a suggestion from a poster on another forum I've found the switch I need and it's already in the dash. The siren switch in my old police air horn. It's more than heavy enough and what thief (who would want to steal a rough looking thirty-one year old van?) would think to TURN ON a siren to start a vehicle? Come to think of it that would be down-right comical to watch. If the weather cooperates I can do that today. If not it'll have to wait until tomorrow.
Hello all

LawsonFarmsRR ChiefEagles: Howdy Dood. You said a word that reminded me. Where is Pat [VA]? Feeding the cows? Don't remember seeing him post lately. Well, time to get ready to go to Raleigh. Later. Chief, thanks for thinking of me. All is well, just busy. My 30-06 is getting a work out chasing buzzards away from new born caves and running off dogs bothering the momma cows. And the usual mending fences where cows broke through thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Watching the progress of the "Box". Pictures really tell the story. Pat

Pat.......running off dogs? Strays, feral, or just the neighbors dogs? Glad to see you are back. Thought you went undercover, became a mole for the Chief, and were helping to plan future raids North of MD.

Howdy guys - well, Char's procedure went well. She said it was painful, though. We went back in the afternoon for a checkup and she had good results, they think 20/20 or better Other than that, I took care of her and made two trips to get the kids from school and then from robotics club after school. I know Doug Murphy had eye surgery, and it might have been the same one. She's a little concerned as she can see pretty clearly already for distance, but she can't really see very well for near out of that eye. I think it's probably due to the pressure from post-surgery swelling and changes. We'll see how it goes.
Hope your feet are better, Jeff and Kev!
TARDIS is ready, so let's get going. Banilla, rootbeer, and chips!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
ChiefEagles KRM: Hi neighbor, My name is Kevin Myers I live just to the north of your property. Please do not shoot to the north. I have found a bullet hole in a tree right in front of our house that looks to be from a high velocity shotgun shell, rifle or pistol and it lines up with your deer blind that Studeman built. Hard to believe it made it to my place but sure looks like to me. I am not sure you knew we were here but wanted you to know. If you would like to have a look, please do come over and introduce yourself. I would be glad to meet you. Thanks again, Kevin Myers Not me sir. Some guy in gray from NC came by and said something about an old war still going on. He walked into my woods and then I heard shots being fired. Concerned neighbor.

Buckeye Riveter Who is the poor soul from New Jersey that is traveling to North Carolina? Make sure you have your shots. Unfortunately they are very painful with a long dull needle. They are identical to the shots you take when you go to any third world country.

Evening all,
KRM, ANjdevil2, Rockisland52: I've never understood why Ford designed their trucks in a way that involves removing the cab from the frame. It's a nightmare to disassemble, but I heard mechanics like it because it's extra $$$ in their pocket for labor charges. The worst part about the 2003-2007 (I think 07 was when the 6.0 was retired) diesels are that they are 6.0's, otherwise known as 6 leakers. Ford should not have killed the 7.3 International motor they included in the trucks.
I know the Cummins motor is one of the most dependable on the market, but my only issue it that the truck itself, not the motor, is notorious for rusting and they transmission isn't that great. I love the Cummins motor though. It's still up in the air, if I can find a good Dodge Ram Cummins or a GMC or Chevy Duramax for a attractive price which has a clean bill of health, I'll jump on it. I prefer the older body style Rams (98.5-02) but I like the newer (preferably 08) Sierra's or Silverado's. My friend Mike owns a 2008 Silverado Duramax that regularly gets 26 on the highway and 18 around town so I know these trucks can be tuned for multiple uses. I have a feeling I'll be using the smoke tune often though.
Well, I just finished packing! Now I'm just waiting to get picked up for a relaxing weekend up the mountains!
Talk to you guys later in the weekend!
