Good morning. It's 27° and mostly cloudy. That high will be 48°.

It's a nice 68° inside the trailer this morning. I have no plans for going out anywhere today. The cold has made my foot more sensitive than usual and just moving it is painful. In fact just having the boot on loosely hurts, tightening it is agonizing, so after I sit down I just take it off then I'm somewhat comfortable. Blood sugar was 72 when I checked it and I'm sure it's lower now so I'll be preparing a meal that'll punch it way up before I take my meds. If I take the meds now things could get ugly fast so I'll hold off and take them after I eat. I'll be resting as much as possible today. The work I did on the van yesterday has left me sore in some places. If my doc saw me doing that he'd have been all over me about it. But if I didn't do it it wasn't going to get done. I hope the rest of you have good luck with your daily activities and I have plenty of good wishes and prayer for those dealing with family, physical and mental problems.

Have a good day.

BURRR COLD here at 17 going to 29 today?  Ran trains last nite for 3 hours and NO PILE UPs!!!  Ran 0-72 Fasttrack switches and all of them worked great.  Ran a LIONEL Mohawk 6-38053 around on those switches and at about 50 smp wow took everyone like a champ.  I was happy!

JEFF, Nice job on the GRAFILTY on the side of the car.  Did you do that?

Stay frosty,

Good morning guys,

Cold and sunny.

Well Sunday got off to a hectic start, got up at 3:30 so the cat could have his breakfast and when I went back to bed I heard the Hydrogen peroxide injection pump running without there being any water demand??   Bang Head  So I went to the basement to check and sure as heck it was running so I shut off the switch and went back to bed. When the cat got me up to go outside at 7:00 I decided I had better take the plumbing apart and clean up the flow switch so the pump would shut off when it should. This switch gets rusted up about once a year so I know the drill. It is not too bad to fix just a mess with the water loss doing it.

Okay get done with that and look over and see a water leak at the furnace humidifier plastic cover.   Bang Head  Well I plug in the hot glue gun, run the trains for awhile to let it get hot then glue it up.. Hope that is it for today.

Dennis hope you get your burn today. Sounds like a nice time at the dance with your little angle. Angel

DougDG, I thought the traffic was always in the toilet out there?? Stick out tongue

DougM ,  Angel  Prayers for your nephew and niece hope they get better real soon. When it rains it pours I guess in your case. DougDG would most likely think that 25 miles in 3 hours was a good clip. Smile, Wink & Grin

Chief, so glad to hear you are getting some fine Yankee weather. Keep your eyes open we have just started the attack. Whistling

Roy, The Yankee weather invasions can run deep and fast. We get in, knock you guys off your feet with a cold blast then retreat back to the north. Bow  Wink

BTW the freeze protection circuit is working like a champ. Thanks again.  Yes

RIJack, That is great what you are doing with your granddaughter. Not only are you helping her with the things she needs to learn but you are also pouring concrete into your relationship. Big Smile

LAZ, glad to hear you have regained control and have not had any PILE UPS!  Whistling

Hey have a great day everyone, Check with y’all latter,

Wifey and SIL are off to Wilmington to see Grandkids.  Two of which are sick.  Some "bug" going around.  I'm staying in.  Bad cough and some fever.  Probably from freezing yesterday afternoon.

Going to watch Church on TV.

JEFF, Nice job on the GRAFILTY on the side of the car.  Did you do that?

That was from an old decal I had. It was too brittle to use so I copied it and printed a new one. Not as good quality but it got the job done.

V8Vega

Jeffery I solder all wire connections, even crimped on wire end terminals.

Some people wonder why I put a little paste flux in the rail joiners when I put track together. When I go back and solder the joiners it suddenly makes sense to them. The hot flux pulls the solder into the joiner and welds the joint together.

Aloha Paradise. The hawk is out here - a local expression meaning it's cold. Good news about the nephew / niece The boy was discharged today and the baby moved out of the ICU. THanks for your prayers.  Speaking of babies, I unexpectedly got dragooned into serving in the infant room at church this morning. It's always nice to hold babies whilst their parents can attend the services. Ran trains today. No pile-ups so far!

Good afternoon everyone.  Getting ready to head back to church.  Doug, good news, pray for continued healing.

Mike, thanks for the comments on courageous.  It is a labor of love.  Regarding the violence at the end, the story needed to be believable.  Yes, that is our church at the end, you can't see the balcony, so it looks a little smaller.

Will try to check in later.  God bless,

Dennis

Again, Buckeye the all smart engineer has mised it.  Would NOT have a heat pump in my house.  All natural gas and high efficiency natural gas furnace.  The Box has a heat pump but it is a "split" which is more efficient than a central unit.  It actually puts out warm air.  Was going to convert the Box to gas but my buddy in Heating and Air said no.  This little unit would work great and save $$$.

Actually has warmed up and wind has stopped.  Still have congestion, cough and fever.  After making a "run" by CVS and had my favorite druggist get me some over the counter drugs, went to Lowes to get more finishing nails for the nailer.  That is why we didn't finish deck yesterday.  Ran out of finishing nails.

The Box since you last saw it.

BTW: the "horse" at the bottom corner of the last photo is Finn.
Problem number one: how do I ship the concrete blocks to Buckeye, Chuck and Kev for their vehicles and not cost a fortune. Laugh

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 30.  Sun was warm on back porch and wife did not have any chores for me to do so I got to spend 2 1/2 hours running the Alaska set with various combinations of rolling stock.  I use a Lionel GP-9 from the RTR set from the late 1990s and it normally runs well.  Lately seemed to have a case of the "slows".  A little grease on the gears and some oil on the axles and it is running much better.  Days like this help me to remember why I got into this hobby.  DougM., it is truly sad to hear about Whitney Houston.  Always enjoyed her music.  Hopefully it was not a drug OD.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning.  TBIL after "Desperate Housewives".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evenin' boys.  Made a run for the hills yesterday, but not before car trouble made us switch vehicles, then hitting a white-out condition through Martinsburg.  Had nice visit with my folks, and looked at a couple more properties on the way out.  Looked like ice planet Hoth on the top of Backbone Mountain.

Good evening all,

Just a quick post before we have to go out to eat.  Been gone all day with church, followed by train meet and now just finding time to look at forum.

Found a nice American Flyer operating water tank at the meet for $15.  Couldn't turn that down.  I saw one last month for $45.

Chief, nice job on the deck and banisters for the box.  Sympathy for yankee weather.  My sis in Jacksonville, N.C. must be feeling that cold too.  We got some showers yesterday and it looks like maybe more tonight/tomorrow.

Will read the forum in greater detail when I get back.

Later,

Ray

Sunny and about 30 degrees today.  The ice I picked up on my car driving across southern Michigan Friday night finally melted off in the sun.

Made a run to Michican the last half of the week to visit mom.  Her speech is much improved.

Got news that my sister's surgery was sucessful Friday.  The tumors they were after are gone and no surprises were found.

Got my N&W J Class on to a test track today.  It has a really neat whistle.

[View:http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/themes/trc/utility/Photobucket:550:0]

Guess I'll need to start shopping for a #175 Rocket Launcher now.

The 'syncronized puffing smoke' on this one seems a little odd.  Basically, no smoke when it is stopped, and a steady stream of smoke when it is running.  So far, I have not seen much of any puffing.

This is the 2006 version.  Anybody else have one?  If so, what kind of smoke output do you get?

Prayers for healing.

All for now.

Hydrogen Peroxide injection? That is used to remove the sulfur smell from deep-water wells here that get their water from aquifers running through here that get their water supply from southern states like NC. Whistling it also works for the snowy white beard. Laugh

It was 14 and windy when we finally got home tonight from New Hampshire.  The next thing I know, I find myself snoozing on the sofa and in a sweat.   Was I coming down with something?  Thought so until I took a look at the thermostat and discovered it was set at 75.  The dog must have turned it up.  Either that, or the wifey took full advantage of my dormant state on the sofa and turned it up.  Whom do you think was the culprit?  Bang Head

Pleasant dreams, ya'll.

Good night all.  Wifey is back from a run to Wilmington.  Two of the Grandkids were suppose to be sick.  They live on the beach now for a while.  SIL building a new house [he goes through this every couple of years].  Seems they made it on the beach.

Youngest, Alison holding Lola, Grady in the front and Carter with tongue sticking out.  Sennia, Wifey's Greatneice is hugging Wifey.

Off to bed [if I can sleep. beginning to see signs of the old "pewmonia"].
