Good morning all,
It is a rainy day in SE Indiana, but a sunny day on the pot as CHUCK IS BACK!!!!! An extra is headed to "Points East" with a load of bran muffins, which is what I had on the dining car for breakfast, courtesy of the "saucy wench". A rare "quad-fecta" occurred as both the JV and varsity teams of "my" soccer girls and soccer boys won on the same night. This after the varsity boys won on Wednesday as well to stay undefeated. Two more wins by the boys will set a new record for regular season wins for either boys or girls, and hopefully that will occur soon. We had rain both nights, but I stayed drier Thursday. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

Hi GUYZ,
Well everything is flooding here in PA. ROCKVILLE BRIDGE is up to the arches and at the Dauphin Narrows 322 leading into Harrisburg is closed. All the schools around here are closed and are using the school for shelters. JELECTRIC probably got the most rain at 15.2 inches so said the TV. Hope he is dry there. Going to get some stuff done today then go take some pics of trout stream and river.

laz - Astonishing photos and videos. The images at Hershey Park (we get there often) really give the depth of the situation.
Hurricane Agnes really cleared the table in our region back in '72. Developers only had to look to the nearby railroads to rationalize their real estate ventures. Case in point: look at pics of Port Deposit. The PRR spent the better part of a century making sure its Port Road would be above flood levels, and the roadbed is now sitting high and dry (for the moment). Yet, recent condos were erected pretty much at the banks of the Susquehanna. I feel for all the losses that are being incurred, but there is still a bit of "what did you think was going to happen?" in my logic. Same goes for Havre de Grace. All those half-million per unit condos in a flood plain...

What a beautiful morning it is. It is nice and cool here with highs in the upper 80's on store for us. Sky is blue and the sun is bright. I am on call still, and will be going in a little later. Worked till late yesterday and got called in again last night. Got home early this morning. The landscapers were here yesterday and the yard looks very good. Our next door neighbor is a nice guy. A radiologist who works from home using his computer to do X-ray readings. Right now, he is on his riding mower....I think he does it as a kind of therapy. What a life! gets to work when he feels like it, or from wherever he wants, so long as he has his computer with him.
Chief, it wasn't me who called. I was probably asleep when you got that one. Chuck, it is so good to see your posts. Hang in there and know you got folks out here who care.Fife, sad to see the destruction. Glad you are OK. My dad had about 8 inches in his basement, but otherwise all is OK. WELCOM BACK CHUCK!!!!!Mornin' Fellas!Fife - I had a planned day off yesterday. Got to spend the day with the little one - what a joy! Went to the orthodonist for my invisiline appt, the ladies were simply gaga over Christina. Then I had to stop by the eye dr to get my new glasses adjusted (need new lenses as they messed up the distance correction), the girls there couldn't get enough of Christina either! I got no attention... But I did get some rather pleasant views... Social Worker comes tomorrow for our second post-placement visit. Then Sunday THE STEELERS come to town to show The Ravens how real football is played... Then Monday I have to drop Christina off for her first day of day-care...

dwiemer - Can't seem to locate any info on a browse. Railroads typically will park loaded coal trains across stone/masonry bridges during such weather events. If anything were in peril, it may be Shocks Mill Bridge below Three Mile Island.

Laz, thanks for the photos/Vids. I thought that house floating down the river was going to take out the bridge. However the dummies on the bridge stood right there and watched it. They were lucky.
Got a call from one of my Thursday night visitors last night who was wondering if he should come over for trains. My first reaction was what planet are you calling from. I guess it must have been a lot cooler where he was calling from down in Orange County. I told him that it was so hot that the rubber molding on my car softened up from the heat and caused the window glass to jump out of the track yesterday. At least he had some good news. He finally found a job even if only for a few months after being out almost two years and looking the whole time. I had been down for a nap and didn't wake up until about 7:00PM. Family waited for me for dinner so we threw together some good leftovers and bought some flame broiled chicken to go with it. (Pollo Loco)
With the time difference your day in the East must be half over by now but have a good evening.

I suppose there is no sense in any of us giving you advice because Paula and your PT crew will be keeping you on a short leash. In the interim, the best we can do is begin harassing you, and it will feel good to do so. If the Chief suggests a healthy diet that includes grits, don't listen.
RT.......I agree with you. Chuck's post made all with the world seem right.
LAZ.........you definitely got nailed far worse by the rains the past 4-5 days in your neck of the woods flooding. The highest rainfall total here in Taxachusetts was 7 inches from this one, so our re-flooding pales by comparison. Those video clips you provided were real eye openers. Upstate NY got hammered again as well. Devastating destruction.

Congrats on the 25 years of service.
Except for a minor ladder mishap yesterday, work has been uneventful. Enjoying the day off today, and will enjoy having the weekend off. I get to start the 6PM-6AM shift Monday, and I am looking forward to that change of pace.
Took the Mustang out for about an hour today just driving around the area. Saw two Grabber Orange GTs while I was out, and that really suprised me. Usually I see black, silver, and Redfire. After swapping out the stock air intake for the Airaid, the MPG jumped from 15.9 city to about 26 city driving conservatively. Even when my foot got heavier , still managed 22 MPG.
I made time during nights this past week to get down to the layout and put my MTH locos through their paces. Last weekend I was ready to through in the towel feeling like I'd done it all, but after picking up the DCS handheld again, I remembered why I enjoy this.
Brutus I would not of told him I will keep it for parts. I would of told him what was wrong and told him you wanted a full refund including shipping and ask what he wanted you to do with the engine. Then let him reply as you bought what was suppose to be new in box. If he doesn't want to help you can always go into ebay act like your going to do a neg and they will ask if there is a problem as you can be refunded full price + shipping if there is and all you have to do is return it the cheapest way you can find and I would insure it for the amount you paid so in-case he tries to say it got damage in return shipping more than what it was when it left him.

Well I needed a train fix and you guessed it ran trains for 2.5 hrs and NO PILE UPS. CHUCK hope you heard the whistle on the CSX SD $)s tootin for you. Had a nice day here a little rain not much but just enough to get ground wet. Did a nice 10 mile bike ride today to see all the devestation from this flood.

The contractor finished digging the footer. Pouring concrete Saturday morning. We have a football game so I'll be at the game. They are going to scrape away more dirt to make room under the crawl space. They want to lay the block early next week.

RT and Doug etc, yeah - he responded return for refund. I said, that means I'll be out 20 on a 50 purchase, so 40 percent loss to me? You refund half and we'll call it even. If no reply, I'll wait out the 7 days and try negative feedback and go through ebay or whatever. He has like 98.7 percent positive feedback and a zillion sales. If it said For Parts, that would be different. I think he swapped the item for a crap one because of the price I won at?
WOW - that flooding is terrible, reminds me of '93 here in Saint Louis! After that, they ID'd a lot of flood planes and did away with construction and even existing housing in it out in the counties. But, out West they rebuilt and even built up more in a known flood plane. We are all just waiting for it to go under one of these years.
Char has a new bug - she's been sick all day. But, now she is really hungry, so guess it was a 24 hour bug.

Rich, WaWaWatch the Tramcar! Have a great time. I was down there with the boys from the IAFF...was a fun week. Enjoyed the parade too. The guys from Wallington put on a good show.
