9/11   So sad.  I was in New York, working at a  Primary Polling site, when we got the first word.  Will never forget that day and those that followed.  So many lives lost, so many lives changed. So sad.

Good afternoon.  Been a nice morning...somber.  Church had some respectful videos and the message was great.  Sunday school was great too.  One thing that I didn't know about a friend is that he was in the Pentagon when it was hit.  Said he heard the crash and felt the vibration.  We have a Marine Corps base here and have a large number in our congregation.

I knew some folks from the FDNY who died at the WTC.  Also had some friends who worked there.  Lots of folks directly affected, but it was and is a national tragedy.  It would be great if everyone continued to come together the way they did for a short time after 9/11/01.

It is time to get ready and head into church.  One thing that we have at our church is a "ReFresh" conference.  It is a time when we place a special focus on growing in Christ and lifting up prayer for seemingly impossible things.  Having had such a prayer answered in Chuck, I would like to extend that if anyone has such, you can PM me, or have it sent directly to our church.

God Bless,
Dennis

Blueberryhill RR

GOOD MORNING FROM BLUEBERRYHIILL

No therapy today.

remember 9-11

From my viewpoint, you have therapy everyday.  I'll explain.

Yesterday, Mrs Buckeye loaded up the mule for the long trek half way up the mountain to see Blueberry and find out how is recovery has progressed.  We arrived at the Caldwell Country Club and Therapy Center just after eating lunch our lunch of dried Cheerios.

We found Chuck's room down a long hall.  As we proceeded the eye candy was everywhere dressed in nursing whites.  (They even wear those white crocodile shoes now.)  I want to assure everyone that Chuck's eyes get a work out every hour of the day.

Chuck was in good spirts and had good color.  A fact also agreeded upon by Mrs. Buckeye.  He told us about his physical therapy and it seemed to be going well.  We also talked about the snow ohio cannon operation this year.

Aloha and Yay about Chuck's PT. Thanks for the update, Buckeye. SJ and Charlie, tell us about that outdoor module! Kelly is gone on another one of her retreats so I'm home for the next two days - homeschooling one boy and keeping an eye on the teen. Got lots to do. We try to keep Sunday a sabbath - quiet, recovery sort of time to face the week - it also includes football watching. Go Bears! Prayers for Char to recover from her bug and for healing for Roy.

Today's weather was just like 10 years ago. I was at work and wondering why our network connectivity suddenly slowed. It was everyone going online to find out what was happening. When my wife called me, I didn't believe her because I had class that night. But they closed the campus and we all ran for the trains. They just ran them in and out all stops all day. Everyone was staring at the Sears Tower.

Gotta make dinner. Maybe run trains later.

We were setup 48 feet long and can setup longer and wider if we have the room.  Credit for the design of the modules goes to Mark of the Glancy Trains modular group, of which I am a member.

Then Sunday THE STEELERS come to town to show The Ravens how real football is played...

I didn't see the game and at the moment I don't know the score but got a feeling the Black and Gold didn't do to wellWhistling Oh well if I remember correctly they met a couple of times last year and a certain team won first then the other team came back and repaid them. The season is early we will see how it plays out you never know.

Good Evening

68 but comfortable.

After church the family took granny to dinner. Then the kids set up a visit time at the house so only 1 family was here at a time. I think it helped her to not think about tomorrow morning. OR is scheduled for 10:30 am. I got to watch the Lions win and then on to the next game. Banilla is waiting...S.J.

Good evening all,

It was rainy and humid in SE Indiana today.  Reffed two games Saturday, came home, mowed the yard for 2+ hours, and swept the house.   Then proved to wife we could buy $25 of useful stuff at Dollar General to save 5$.  Tired.  Rested today.  Did move some redbud starts over to replace the one maple we lost.  Watched a movie with wife while building with LEGOs.   Wa tched a chick flick with wife Friday night, "Letters to Juliet".  Been doing a lot of remembering today.  No direct connection to anyone involved in the events, but still painful to recall.  Makes a lot of other details pretty petty.  Glad to hear from Chuck some more.

Keep on training,

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,

A somber day remembering 9/11.

Chuck: Glad to see you back and on the road to recovery.

Rich, Enjoy Wildwood. Someone has to stay here to protect the town, so I guess it is me.

Dennis, i remember the Wallington Clown Act. We used to compete against them when I was in South Amboy in the 70's. Partied hardy with "Chiefie" and crew from Wallington also back then.

Ray, Any packages this week?

Brutus, Jim, Glad nothing serious with char and she is better.

SJ, Charlie, The modular layout sems like a lot of fun and a good venue to promote the hobby.

Laz, Minnie and the "wabbit" sounds like our Lab / Pointer Mack, except he was raised with a rabbit and tried to befriend it.

SJ, Thoughts and Prayers for Granny.

Have a Great Evening, Almost time for the Tardis,

John

Evenin' Dudes & Dudettes.

Glorius day today. The munchkin, won't be able to call him that much longer the way he's growing, spent the nite last nite. Up early for Grampa's bacon waffles w/a side of bacon as well. Oink Oink. Later we took him to his swim lesson where we joined daughter and sil to observe the lesson. Went out for a nice light lunch at a soup/salad/sandwich place afterwards, yummy and low sodium.

Sister is convinced her "baby brother" will survive so planning on flying home this week. Took her on a bit of a sight seeing tour after lunch, stopped for awhile and watched the hanggliders then on up the beach road to watch some surf & surfers. A nice enjoyable and relaxing afternoon. SWMBO and sister decided to make one last visit to the casino prior to her departure, I opted out.

SJ, Prayers for Granny's surgery tomorrow and recovery afterwards.

Great opening ceremony for Cowboy /Jet game, great bagpipe performance.

Later all.

A quiet day here on the mountain. Worked on a few projects and then took a hike down the access road. Ended up going all the way down to the gate. Beautiful afternoon and some wonderful views of SE Arizona.

Have not been watching any of the TV presentations regarding 9/11, but heard a bit on NPR this morning.  Mainly just quietly reflecting on the events of the past ten years.

Buckeye, thanks for the update on Chuck. Good to see his posts again here.

Back to various projects.

For some reason, I could not get on this website at all yesterday afternoon or last night?  I had no problem with any other website?

Char was doing fine today.  Our dog bent me around like a pretzel last night, so my back was bothering me, but I'm fine too.  Had a good day overall with church, then more church and a meet 'n greet.

Great pic, SJ!  Prayers for Granny and you.

DougDG - sounds like good times with the munchkin and yes, I'll keep you informed.  I sent him a new email and said if he pays for all shipping, then I will return it.  I don't think I should be out a single penny as this is not what was advertised at all.  So glad to hear about Chuck's recovery and the nursing staff taking good care of him Smile

TARDIS is ready for launch, but we will take it easy tonight.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evenin' all!

After a productive day at work I called the wife while on the way home only to find out that nothing had been planned for dinner, so off to The Olive Garden we went. Nice and relaxing.

SJ - Good luck tomorrow with her surgery, I'm sure it will turn out easy. BTW, I agree with your thoughts about taking it easy on Sunday's however, with the project I'm involved with at work that's not possible.

HudsonJohn - Nothing this week that I'm aware of. But don't rule out a box from Jim, I hear he wants to clean off his pool table!

Jim - Think about this!!!! Laugh

JoeD - We finally won one! Maybe we can start getting some distance between us and the Saux now.

Good Night!

Good morning all,

Alabama blew out PSU yesterday.  The loss was much worse since I am currently in Alabama.  This morning I woke up and went for an 8-mile run.  Since I was unable to find a church service to attend this morning, I watched a few sermons on television and studied on my own.  Unfortunately the regional NFL games down here were not entertaining so I knocked out some of this week's homework ahead of time.  I'm watching the Cowboys-Jets game now and I hoping the Dolphins upset the Pats tomorrow night.

SJ - I'll pray all goes well for Granny.  Who's going to feed you while she's recovering?  Whistling

Good night,

Joe

 ChiefEagles:
and put in service our new $900,000 ladder truck.

Chief - your house is the tallest structure in Rosyville at 2 stories ...Stick out tongue

I'm well protected

Temps here to hit 100+ this week so it looks like we will break the 1980 record of 69 100+ days. No rain in sight.

Been praying for a tropical storm for Texas.

SJ and Charlie - how long is that modular? Looks huge and like LAZ said - what a nice way to spend an afternoon outside while the weather is still nice!

Snohio on their way.

Good night all.  Had a great day.

Had visit from lease trouble maker's parents.  Same old BS about their son didn't do it.  Fred was here and we told them he admitted being there but he said he didn't do it. DAH.  Kid told us he did not know how a deer feeder worked but his parents said they had several.  When I told of the trail camera being stolen [he admitted he rode through that night], Wifey, Fred's Wifey and Fred said both parents looked at each other with startle [like, OH that is where he got one].  They left smiling and agreed that if I catch him, I will come to them with the photos [they know we have several IR cameras set in the woods along the paths].  They admitted they did not know what the kid [BTW: he is grown but lives at home] did at night as they went to bed early. Dad said we don't stay up to middle of the night like he does. We don't know what he does but he didn't do it. ConfusedConfusedHuh?

Ladder truck is in service.  Had a big crowd of citizens at the Fire Dept.  A lot of "new" people.  BTW: we have a citizen that is retired fire chief [was not retired at 9-11-01] from a Town in NJ that is right across the river from the Towers site.  I need to remember his name.  Some of you Yank firemen might know him.

Dentist early.  Then chores and off to the lake house [I'm sure grass is high due to large rains].

Prayers for Mrs. SJ.

I knew Chuck was in rehab for a good reason [eye candy in white].  HUMMM  Just took the old Buckeye Detective Agency to catch him.

Sleep tight.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI wtih temps reaching the 70s.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".   If that is not on Chuck's approved diet, perhaps he can swap it for something else.  TBIL and I can drive tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Clearing & 60 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Got up early and took Fifepup to breakfast for his Cake.  Presented him with 2 pairs of RAVENS tix (Cards,49ers).  He was happy.  He was still very happy and chatty about the RAVENS/steelers game.

Oh...that reminds me:

Mornin' Fellas.

Long weekend from a football stand point. The only thing I will say about PSU is this - they need to stop playing 2 QBs - Rob Boldin should be given the starting job and left to play the entire game. As for the Steelers - they played a poor game and the Ravens played one of their best. The final score showed this.

Dropped Christina off at Day Care this morning. Her first day. She was a hit - as always.

Oh - almost forgot - Cake to fifepup and Congrats to Fife on surviving 25 yrs on the force.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Sunny and Seasonal Taxachusetts,

Friday was a somber day.  A close friend of ours had to put her dog down, and I went with her to help in any way I could.  This pup was a rescued Doberman with a bite history......due in no small part to his original owners.  Our friend adopted Mr. P and trained him into one of the finest ambassadors for the breed one could find.

She titled her pup in competitive obedience and, when a leg injury ended his competition career, she switched gears and got him certified in therapy work.  This past June the American Kennel Club bestowed upon him the ThD title.  To achieve AKC’s Therapy Dog or “ThD” title a dog must be "certified or registered with an AKC-recognized therapy dog organization, perform a minimum of 50 documented visits and be an AKC Dog through AKC registration."  Yes, although this dog had some shaky beginnings through absolutely no fault of his own, he spent the back years of his life performing weekly visits to a  long term care/rehabilitation hospital and helping others.  He will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to meet him, and a dog like this can never be replaced.

Took the Wifey out yesterday to pick up some Mums.  For you Southerners out there, these are Fall annuals that can bloom into November up this way in snow country, as long as you cover them at night and protect them from a hard frost.  We got home and planted them, and I prepared Alfredo chicken for dinner.  So the Wifey is happy.....I think.  Whistling

The news coverage of the 911 events of this past week and weekend left me feeling as I did 10 years ago... sad, angry, and frustrated.  My kids and grandkids came over for dinner Saturday night and I remained quiet and reflective.  It was encouraging to hear their exchanges and perspectives without my 2 cents.  At the very least, they have a clear understanding of events leading up to that terrible day, the reasons behind it, and the price that has to be paid for our freedoms, in human terms.

DonB.........hope this #12 font works better for you and for everyone.  Sorry!!!!

SJ....... Angelprayers for a most successfuk procedure for Granny today.  As another pointed asked, "Who is going to feed you?"  You cant' live on Banilla and root beer......or can you?  Big Smile

Fife........while you may take in stride your 25 years of service to serve and to protect others, the countless people you have helped don't.  Nor do we.  Congratulations! Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up  Happy birthday Fifepup!!!  Happy B-Day

Brutus........was glad to read that Char is doing better.  AngelThumbs Up

Roy....... AngelI certainly hope that things with your neck settle down.  That sounds pretty debilitating, made worse by the Cowboys last minute loss to the Jets.  Bang Head  At this point I hope you set a new record for 100+ degree days in a Summer.  At this point it will be worth the sweat. Stick out tongue

Brent......your post about dropping Christina off at daycare brought a smile to my face.  I can recall many moons ago when we dropped our son off for his first day of daycare.  There were a lot of tears shed by my wife and by my son.  When the Wifey  went to pick him up later in the day she was doubly crushed.  He was too busy playing to stop what he was doing to at least greet her, and he cried all the way out the door.  Laugh

Charlie.....thanks for the layout pictures and the one of SJ.  We needed that one to remind us what he looked like before the forced diet he is about to embark upon.  Whistling  Reminds me of childhood days when we used to set up a drag strip in the basement of a buddy's house and drag race the trains.  We were so careful to separate the tracks and set up all manner of pillows to stop the trains at the end of the runs to avoid scatching them.  Am I the only one here that did that?

DougM........the image of you in charge of home schooling your son while the Wifey is away is horrifying.  Smile, Wink & Grin  Pizza 101.  Advanced Placement Procrastination.  Basic Beer Can Recycling....  Laugh  DA BEARS looked good yesterday taking it to the Falcons.  But the Soldier Field natural grass looks like it needs some serious R&R.  At least the better Cutler showed up yesterday.

MikeC........you must be the only one we know who sweeps the house.  We all have graduated to vacuum cleaners.  Smile, Wink & Grin  Like you, I got stuck watching a chick flick with my wife yesterday, had to keep flippng channels during the commercials to keep up with football scores. Bang Head

LAZ........those wascally wabbits are quick and can turn on a dime.  We have about a half dozen who hang out in our yard even though they know Maximus has free reign until he reaches the property border where we have an E-fence.   One of these days one of them will zig when they should have zagged, Minnie will catch it,  and you will have rabbit for dinner.  Best if you and I get out in front of this one and ask the Chief for one of his REB road kill recipes.  Dinner

HudsonJohn......I got a chuckle out of your comment about your lab/pointer mix Mack and his gentle treatment of rabbits.  Non-dog people think that genes and natural instinct (prey drive, protection, etc.) cannot be mitigated with the pup's upbringing, but your Mack shows that it can.  We train our Doberman Maximus around our trainers cats just for that reason; and we train right alongside the tiniest of dogs.  Although he is a protection breed), Maximus at the age of two has already met and greeted (up close and personal) more children at humane society charity events at our trainer's booths than arguably the next ten dogs combined will ever meet in their entire lifetime.  Plus, he has been raised with my grandchildren, under very close supervision and control from day 1.  All that being said, no dog, from the largest to the smallest, should ever be left unsupervised around children, not for a moment.  Children can and will do stupid things to and around a dog.  The same can be said for far too many adults.

Sub Bob............if I walked all the way down your mountain I would need to hitch a ride back up to the top.  Maybe you should start a cog railroad.  Smile  The views must be stunning.

DougDG..........bet the surfers and the surf weren't the only things you were watching during your trip to the beach. Whistling

AF Ray and JoeyD...........thanks for the sincere condolences. Wink  The Red Sox are in a free fall.  Tampa refuses to go quietly.  Ray.....when you call home and ask the Wifey "what's for dinner" and she says "nothing," you know it is something.  Whistling  We are finally, after all of these years, getting an Olive Garden restaurant up my way.  What took them so long? Dinner

JoeyD.....doing homework ahead of time?  Shame on you.  You have a reputation to uphhold.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Chief.........in a way you can understand the parents of that wayward "adult kid."  They know full well what has been and is going on, yet they want to bury their heads in the sand.  They probably believe that if they cover for him or stand behind him one more time that the light switch will go off in his head and a miraculous change will occur in him.  Change will occur, for the worse.  One day the consequences for his actions will slam him in the face. Angry

Gotta run.  later gang.

Morning.  Dentist was easy.  Been flossing good.  Oil and filter for 4Runner to do.  Should not take too much time.  Buddy from lake came by and we went to BoJ's.  Took back bed frame and a bench so will drive 4Runner up.  He says I will have to double mow as grass has jumped up.  They actually had rain this AM before light.  Off to finish chores inside and out too.  Have a great week at work as SS check comes Wed. V8VEGA,

DENNIS started to post on Coffee pot back in 04 when the pot first originated. JIM DUDA, BUCKEYE, CHIEF, SPANKBIRD, PIGSEYE and BIGBOY were the first GUYZ to be on back then.  Since then lots have come and went like a revolving door.  But since that time I and others have met either in YORK or other places and have become close friends.  I don't know what the percentages are, but like to hear peoples different prospectives.

Aloha from a bright 'summer' day. Haven't damaged the boy yet in homeschooling. Pretty much because Kelly gave me a process-map that even I can follow. Of course, we had a 2 hour break to drive to near O'Hare to pick up our ailing mower. It looks new. It better be for what it cost. Jack, sorry to hear about your friends loss. Prayers for Pat too. That Jets-Cowboy game last night was almost as good as the Bears.

Dennis, somewhere on this site there are some stats - I know our little group pales before some on the other Trains.com forums.

Good afternoon all,

Dennis I suspect the Chief would have the information you seek.  I think he was the one that started the coffee pot.

Nothing but 9/11 history on all day yesterday.  I finally gave up and watched some of it last night.  It always makes me mad but if it helps the victims have any closure maybe it has value.  TV has shown Pearl Harbor to death.  Now they have something new.

Ran some trains this morning until it got too warm.  No derailments or run through switches.  Put on all four units of my ATSF ABBA F units with two powered and ran with a 7 car silver train.

Keep up the recovery on Blueberry Hill.

Buckeye, thanks for the update

Later,

Ray
