Dennis, sounds like an interesting trip on the Coast Starlight.  My son takes that train to Oregon once in a while to visit a friend of his.  I have a friend in Seattle that I might visit some time.  I don't know how I would fair in coach though.  If you got an economy sleeper, it would make the cost higher than flying probably.  However, flying is a problem with my COPD though so it would be better for me on the train.

Laz, I figured you guys treated the water.  My friend at Knotts said they dropped in something that looked  about the size  a soft ball that disolved in the water.

Still have to check out the fox video from Chief.

Got to run,

Ray

Chuck update

I spoke to Chuck's wife this am.   There is little or no change in his condition.  "He is very sick."  He his on all types of medicines and of course is still in ICU.  He will be in the hospital for an unknown length of time.  He keeps fighting unconsiousness.  One lung has started to respond.

Prayers and thoughts for Chuck are appreciated.  I told his wife to tell him all the CTT guys are with him.

Buckeye.........thank you for the update on Chuck.  Prayers continue.  While not trying to understate things, I'll take any progress as a good sign at this point and keep good thoughts going out for our Blueberry.

Chuck,

              Angel

Laz,

Thanks.  That video doesn't do it justice though.

Spank,

What about an FM Trainmaster?  You could probably get a deal on a Lionel Convential Classic or Williams.  That would really make an impression on Tyler.  Did you get thay 3360 Burro figured out?  I've got experience with them, so just let me know if you'd like help.

Not much going on today, just looking forward to a day off tomorrow.  The Airaid intake that I ordered for the Mustang showed, so I'll get that in asap.

Glad to see someone still believes in getting a muscle car with a manual transmission! I like the new 5.0's a lot, but I wish Ford had put 6 speed manuals in all their Mustangs before the new 5.0 came out. That's the only area where I think they didn't do too well.

Prayers for Chuck!

Good Evening

79 now, a nice day in the 80s.

Had fun at the train store, ha! I bought something this time, a Lionel Mr Goodbar box car. my favorite candy bar. Also made 2 preorders, just small stuff, under $200. We sat on the porch till dark but it's coming earlier now. Banilla is ready for the thingy.

Sunny, 80's today.

Needle gun, descaling the inside of a boiler.  Yup, that sure would be a pleasant task.  Even better if the project is in the sun on a nice 100 degree day!

RI52 - I'll agree with your wife about air travel.  My last trip abroad, when I arrived in Barclona - no baggage.  Trip to the lost baggage counter revealed that my bags were in Cleveland!

All for now.

Evening.  Only one fox this afternoon.  Was not as brave as the two last night.  Smaller one too.  Still came to caller but took 29 minutes.  NO COYOTES.  Seems the French Vet [hubby to the lady who is crying humane] does not know his animals.

Prayers Chuck.

Update from Chuck's wife….10:16 pm,  Wednesday, April 17, 2011.

I have some really bad news; Chuck is not expected to live.  The doctors told his wife, Paula, that he should have died Monday.   There is an infection throughout his body.   Words like congestive heart failure, emphysema, Pneumonia, and strep infection were used by the doctor as he discussed Chuck’s condition with Paula.    Paula told Chuck that his CTT friends were pulling for him and had posted their thoughts and prayers on the forum.

God Bless Chuck and his family tonight.

Hi GUYZ,

  Prayers for CHUCK.

A bit humid today but still did manage a slow 2 miler.  Yesterday dug out old clothes line pole that was cemented in ground only took 2 hrs it was down 2 feet with about 2 foot wide cement glob on bottom of pole.  Got it out then busted up concrete reburried it then planted new grass seed on top.  Now gotta dig new hole for pole on other side of yard.

GOLF today if don't rain?

Stay frosty,

Prayers for Chuck and his family.

72/88 today.

I'm annoyed, granny has to see her MD today, he won't sign the paper for her operation without seeing her. She just finished blood, echos, stress test at his office 2 weeks ago. So grumpy gramps will have to BBsit this afternoon. Belt in hand. No breakfast yet, not sure what I want to overcook yet..S.J.

Yes I understand his legal issues but 2 weeks, come-on.

Everything came back normal.

Morning guys.  Still on call.  I have to do my morning reading shortly along with prayers.  That said, I wanted to quickly post here.  Hearing the news on Chuck is hard.  He has been such a part of this forum and especially this thread.  I would like to take a moment and express at least part of my prayer here:
Lord, we don't know your ways or your plan for our dear friend Chuck.  We know he and his family are suffering and we would like to ask you to please bring your peace and comfort to them at this time.  While the news we hear from the doctors is not good, we also know that you are a God of miracles and you are the Great Physician.  If it be your will, we ask that he be healed.  Our hearts turn to you and may you be glorified in this.  In Christ's name, Amen.

Thanks guys.  I had other things to say, but they are not important.
God Bless,
Dennis

Thank you Dennis.  I really needed that.

I am not a particularly religious man.  But as I have grown older I have embraced prayer as my own personal connection with His will.

In the past I have related to the members of this Forum the words of a doctor who was treating a very ill family member, words I will never forget.  I had asked him a very direct question about the medical prognosis.  He answered in this way:  "There is only one Person who decides whom among us will live and whom will die, and when; and that Person has never once called me in an a medical consultation."

Like so many of us, I am struggling with Chuck's serious condition.  If Chuck were on line today, we would have read his daily greeting to us all which usually included his trademark: "TODAY IS AN EASY DAY."  That always put a smile on my face, and as silly as it seems I looked forward to it.  I never tired of it.

I pray that today is an easy day for Chuck and for his family.  And I join all of you praying for his recovery.

Jack

Amen!  Dennis.  Your prayer was the sentiment of all of us I believe.  I have included my only daily prayers for Chuck and his family.  This is difficult news to digest.  I do believe that as long as we believe in God, then a miracle is always possible but now we have to get out of the way and turn it over to the almighty.  His will be done.

Chief, just a note here about the foxes.  They were pretty long legged looking foxes but they didn't walk like cayotes.  I guess foxes come in different sizes.   Been so many years since I saw one, I can't remember much about them.

Anybody see the the TV show about Dixie last night?  It was interesting but some of it was over the top to a born Southerner.  One guy did agree with our Northern friends about the grits when he said he would not feed plain grits to a dog.  He said the problem is that you have to put something on or in them like butter, bacon, eggs or whatever to taste good, otherwise they are pretty bland.  I agree.  They talked about the geographic boundries of the South.  The Mason Dixon Line is always talked about regarding the South but there are broader interpretations apparently by some.  I thought I even saw Ohio in there somewhere (sorry Buckey) but maybe that was West Virginia I was looking at on their map.

later,

Ray
