Hey guys....

I'm just about done, the tank is empty and I'm heading for bed....very soon.

Got to sleep about 11 PM last night, had a false alarm at around 1 AM and couldn't get back to sleep until 4ish...had another call which I slept through at 0640, then 1130 was on the NJTP until 1:30, some guy driving a newer Mustang, lost control and hit a tractor trailer...wife and 2 young girls in the back.  All walked away, but the clean up and removal took sometime. Which explains my non appearance at the Edison show.... Sigh

Rich,

I was going to drive this to work this week, but after reading your post, I'll leave it at home.  Glad to hear they walked away from it.

watch?v=aqHHbBPzNY

Not much going on today.  I was going to get some PW running time in, but I ended up clearing some stuff out of the basement instead.

Howdy guys - warm day in Saint Louis.  No rain today, but it's humid.  We had church service this morning, then went back to a class this afternoon along with the kids.  Had a meatloaf sandwich for dinner - yum!  No trains today, maybe something tomorrow.  I can't figure out how to get a youtube video to show on here.  It should work, but just gives a blank box???  I used their media tool, too.  Watching Kelly's Heroes with the family - Great movie Thumbs Up

TARDIS is ready, so turn on your beacons!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hey guys....

Colin, where on the West Trenton line did you go?  Ewing Township?  I have a tape from there, I'd like to catch the juice train one night as it heads North...busy line for sure.

I actually stayed on the PA side of the TREL! For most of the day I was planted on Stony Hill Rd. in Yardley, and then I made my way to Woodbourne before calling it quits for the day!

Here's the video...

11 trains in about 10 hours!

Hi GUYZ,

Rainy here today only going to 77.  First day of HS football practice today also all fall sports in general.  I took MINNIE for a  mile walk then did a nice 2 miler this morning.  MINNIE then played for 45 minutes with neighbor dog SYDNEY, who is a female chocolate lab that is 3 months old.  MINNIE treats her like a little sister.  They both love to play and it is fun to watch them run and have fun.

Not to much to do today save to grout a smaal amount of tile I was puttin off.  Then run trains this afternoon.

PROBE, NICE RIDE JIM!!!!  Love the color of that STANG.

Stay frosty,

Aloha. Nice cool day here - 66!  Laz, sounds like we had a good workout today - thanks!  Dennis, I noticed a new monitor in the video control room at church - a new weather monitor I guess to keep an eye on any storms during services.  Brutus, Kelly's Heros is a great movie - they got the uniforms and equipment right too instead of relying on whatever could be rented.  Lots of minor construction going on here at work and I'm the go-to guy for every thing that goes wrong. Should be a busy day. More drama with the daughter about her 'need' for a car. Stick out tongue

Good Mornin Ya'll from Rainy Taxachusetts,

Had the Granddaughters, daughter, and SIL over for our usual dinner Saturday night.  Since I was assigned the responsibility of cooking and preparing dinner, we ate what I wanted to eat, no complaints.  Simplicity.  Porterhouse steaks on the grill.  Corn on the cob, gargantuan baked potatoes with sour cream and chives (forgot the bacon), fresh bakery bread, and a huge garden salad.  Wifey did the deck prep and moved dinner out onto the deck for some open air dining.  Weather was beautiful.  And the mosquitoes followed their normal schedule and held off their assault until dusk, allowing us a leisurely post meal yak fest.  The critters finally arrived and forced us inside for dessert, which was comprised of fine cuisine from Dairy Queen, which is my granddaughters' favorite dessert.  Love to have the alone time to and fro DQ with the eldest granddaughter.  Then hear the two year old in her best articulation exclaim :  "I cweem, Gwampy!"

We somehow dodged the rain all day yesterday during our day trip up to ME.  Skies began their thing after we got home, and it rained lightly all night.  Over 1 inch forecast for today and another inch overnight.  Rain in the forecast for tomorrow to boot.  This rain is much needed.

The drive home late yesterday afternoon through New Hampshire was almost a horror show except we were smart enough to miss most of it by taking a few back roads home.  Wife drove while I manned the GPS as copilot.  Routes 3, 93, 95, and 1 Southbound were jammed with returning vacationers from points North, the traffic from the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Louden NH, and the throngs who took in the air show West of Portsmough NH at the Pease Air Force Base.  Add in a closed bridge on Route 1 South closer to the coast.. Bang Head

Holy smokes!!!!!!!!!  The Evil Empire (Yankees) have pulled even in the loss collumn.  Laugh

DougDG.............so glad to hear you are back in the saddle again and doing what you love. Thumbs Up

Brutus.........[angel] prayers for your sick co-worker.  Health is such a fragile thing, something which I took for granted when I was younger.

Brent.......you bought the wrong track while visiting the LTS wigh the Princess?  Either sleep deprivation clouded your judgement, or you bought the wrong stuff on purpose so you would have to take the Princess back there.  I suspect the latter.  Whistling  Re your observation that you didn't see a lot of speeding-ticketing going on during your trip home with the Princess, the wife and I saw our fair share of state troopers over the weekend driving up and back from ME.  They were out in force.

LAZ.........it was impressive how you pounded out that facing project.  Despite the heat during your project, bet you are glad that you are no longer up against it (rain, cold, impending snow).  Brent......take notice, Laz didn't fall off of any ladders or chisel off any fingers doing the pointing.  Smile, Wink & Grin

RaySP...........hope the CA. temps are dropping so your train time can be increased.  Why don't you invest in a window a/c unit for your garage?

JimmyT.........I am with you.  I skip the big box stores and frequent my local hardware store, even though it is more expensive.  I expect courteous service and personalized help and advice.  In the end I figure I am happier, and I get the job done on the first pass.  But if I were you I would have been tempted to take that ignition key back to the big box store's manager, hold him up for him to see, and say "You see, it doesn't have to be as tough as you guys make it."   I realize they thought it couldn't be done, despite the fact that you had it thoroughly researched and were the expert.  On more than one occasion I have accompanied my FIL to a big box store, and he was looking for something electrical which was beyond my comprehension what it did or what was for.  The guy "helping him" asked him what it was for.  His response was priceless:  "Does it make a difference what I want it for?  Please, just help me find one."

May I assume that in this pleasant absence of the Chief that he is actually relaxing?  Nah!!!!!!  Didn't think so.  Stick out tongue

MikeC...........moving stuff for others.  Hate it.  Even if it is to help out your/my son.  A friend of mine is moving at the beginning of September and I have volunteered to help him.  I'm getting too old for this stuff.  Glad to hear your Mid Ohio adventure was as great as mine have been.  I particularly like to watch the vintage sports cars allowed out on the track for the parades, and the races of same for those with the $ to risk their beautiful machines out there.

Buckeye..........wait until you get a gander of your EOB and what those plumbers charge!  Fife, no worries.  As others have pointed out, the patient's pre-op prep is the worst of it.  The rest is a peace of cake because you close your eyes and when you open them your biggest concern is who is going to drive you home while the pharmaceuticals wear off.  Not even the slightest bit of discomfort afterwards while the vision of steak dances in your head.  Dinner

V8........if you are not careful your place will become a toy train warehouse!  Laugh

Later, gang.  I think I hear Noah loading up the ark out in the street.

Everyone have a great day.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

V8 Dennis, A little wet stuff would be nice once in a while.  Lets face it.  We live in a desert, or it would be without the water system we have.

Jack, I have thought about A/C in the garage but I have the wrong kind of window for that type.  Might have to cut a hole in the wall or something.  It would be nice.  It would have been a lot nicer years ago when we had something like 10-15 guys getting together every week.  Now we only have four.  As for just myself, I can always go out there early in the day in summer and it's not too bad.  The bad heat is in the afternoon.  At night we meet about 8:30PM and I stick an exaust fan in the window.  Its at least livable then.

Watched the PGA final day yesterday.  Don't know either of the final two but it was exciting with a playoff.  At least an American won for a change.

later,

Ray

RaySP.......my SIL has nothing but crank out windows, so he had some guys put in permanent, through-the-wall sleeves for a/c units.........except he came up one short, in the kitchen where my daughter cooks up a storm.   So he went off to Home Depot, bought the necessary mounting stuff, removed one of the crank out windows in the kitchen, and installed a window unit there.  Works perfectly, and looks professionally "finished" as well.  I know there are 12,000 BTU units that run on 110V and think there are 15,000-20,000 BTU units available now that run on 110V.

To initially vent out the hottest air near your garage ceiling, a through the roof ventillation fan like some use in their attics would work nicely.  Think Chief may have installed some for his "attic" train room.

Alternatively, there are A/C units that roll around on casters and only require round vent holes to the outside near where you want to place them.  These are pricey, however.

Buckeye just called and said he got voice mail from Chuck's wife.

Chuck is in hospital in intensive care.  Pneumonia in both lungs.  Sedated.  Remember he has one lung that is partial from former infection.

PRAYERS.

Guys, Chuck is in bad shape.  He is in ICU and heavily sedated at a local hospital near his home.   As the Chief stated, he has only one good lung and it is full of infection.  There also seems to be something wrong with his stomach.   Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated by his family.

Good evening.  Firstly, I will most certainly mention Chuck in my bedtime prayer.  Will also keep several others who have faced a number of issues over these past few weeks.  Been a long day and heading to bed...just wanted to catch up on things.

Doug M.,  we have a number of monitors in our video control room as we have our own TV station and have pre-loads, etc.  Also, we have some flat screens that when the service is not going is usually on Golf, or an SEC game.  Visitors to the media floor usually will gasp at all the equipment...we also have a studio for filming some TV shows and for doing interviews.

Better get some sleep.  Have a early bible study and a Dr's appointment tomorrow.  This one is for getting our dossier together for the adoption.  Then, we have a full day of cases to get to.

God Bless,
Dennis

Back from meeting.  At major hospital.  Their cheft prepared a meal for us.  Seems they are ranked #1 in US for patient satisfaction for meals.  Guy has even written a book on how they feed their patients.  It was great.

Lots of prayers for Chuck [bad sick] and Dennis [adoption] too.

Glad Brent and family are home safe.

Now for a surprise.  Main Street Park across the street from me [37 acres].  On the back side.  Video shot two days ago while a guy walking his dog.  [you can see the cars passing in the background]  No, not foxes.  This year's coyote pups.  I think they "raised" in the adjorning rock outcrop and creek.  This is not in the edge of Town but in Town.  Backyards backup to this property.  http://www.youtube.com/user/mahonemb1?feature=mhee

Smart.  Protected in Town.  I've offered to make them "gone".  One Commissioner and one Parks and Rec Advisory Comm. person [lives out of Town] has cried "humane". Crying  They will not cry when someone's cat, dog or maybe small child gets killed.  They do not live close to this.

Sleep tight.
