Good morning and Happy August. Heading in and I will be off call in about an hour. Has not been nearly as rough as the last call rotation. It does look like the start of a busy week ahead though. Chief and Joe, glad the knuckleheads in DC got things worked out so Y'all get paid. I just wish they'd learn to do what is right for the country without worrying about the next election. Oh well.
Figured out a little issue I had with scenery planning. Had one side of the stanchions to hold up the elevated rail line where the ground level track was a little too close to the wall to be able to allow enough clearance. I am going to use a graduated upright that should do the trick. I know, pictures will make it clear.
Jim, got the article...thanks. I have to read it still as I just found it on my bible. Wife must have placed it there the other day and I was using a different study bible for church, so I didn't get to it.
God Bless,Dennis

Good morning all,
Tried to post several times with IE9 on home PC. Would not work. If can't be resolved, will not be posting as often. Will try to stay in touch in other ways, but quite frustrating. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear and sunny 70 degrees. Going up to 90 today with a chance of rain, later.
Today is a busy day. I have a few errands to run and the usual chores. Not much time for trains lately.
Dining car is here and , yes, it's Cheerios for breakfast
Y'all have a great Monday.
Chuck

Mike I don't have it but have heard chief and Brutus and a couple others state theres a tab at the top I believe for compatability mode and thats what you have to click when you are getting ready to post with IE9 Chief or Brutus can tell you more about it.
Just download FireFox and your problems will be over
Good morning on the first day of August.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. They have just started repaving the road in front of my house. I am not anxious to have it done as even in the rough shape it is in, I take my life in my hand every time I cross the road to collect my mail from the box. With a newly paved road they will be driving 65-70 in stead of the normal 55-60 that most drive when they crest the hill about 100 yards from my driveway. The posted limit BTW is 40!Put the RMT Buddy (shortened RDC car) on the small loop and am having some trouble with it derailing at one of the MTH switches, have to check that out. It may need to be modified as I have done to others by reducing the width of the flangeway.
Hi GUYZ,
Starting out ran a nice 3.25 miler, felt good, nice and cool this morning. Today I start the big and final wall this afternoon. It is in full sun until 330 this afternoon so that is when I will start. Suppose to get to 94 and don't want to be in that full sun then so will wait. Got to fill in courses with mortar so probably do that til 3.
Stay frosty,

Aloha. Whew, that was a good workout, Laz. Spent a pleasant afternoon watching the Soxes play. Then tried rearranging the garage to see if I can fit the van inside now that my bride has decided she wants to park her new car on the 'long' side. Finally gave up and spent a nice evening with friends at a local establishment sampling their craft beers.Hang in there, Hudson! As you said, this too shall pass.John, that is too scary - there is this interesting traffic concept of situational awareness where drivers don't notice what they don't expect to see - like a bicyclist or someone trying to get to their mailbox. (the psych folks tested it by having two people pass a ball back and forth while watching a film of people walking in front of them. Occasionally during the test, a gorilla suited subject would walk in as part of the film, beat his chest and loll around for 10 seconds -- no one ever remembered the gorilla.) Expect to take phone calls today from a few men at church undergoing major marital issues.

Well you know me, I feel a little down this being August already. The summer months are so short. Granny is BBsitting this week so breakfast won't be nearly as good the next five days. #2 son sold his boat and took mine home with him. It will be good for me not having to bother with it but can still use it if I want...S.J.

Good Mornin' Yall from Crystal Clear and Warming Taxachusetts,
We had just a smattering of rain the past four days despite some significant fronts passing through. The Western part of the state got some damaging microbursts that hit the very same neighborhoods that were devastated by tornadoes a few weeks back. Winds hit category 1 hurricane proportions. July closed with 11 days at 90 and above, with two touching 100 and the lows century mark. Nothing like what the rest of you guys got, so I feel lucky. We need rain badly and have for the past 6 weeks.
LAZ........that is what I do, work on the side of the house that is in the shade. Mow early or late too. The days of throwing myself out there hammering out an outdoor project start to finish are past. Slow and steady is my theory.......except when it comes to snow and the resulting ice on the drive and walks if I don't get to it right away.
Mike........I had a chance to upgrade to IE9 and saw no practical value of upgrading for what I need the PC to do. Same with my operating system.......still on XP. Hence, no issues, except when I set the security features a little too restrictive.
JimmyT.......I don't believe you mentioned the cosmetic condition of the 2343s and the NYC F3s you picked up.
SJ.........that sounds like the perfect set-up. Your son does all of the heavy lifting with the boat and you get to use it (still yours!).
Rich........I am happy for you with the Princess joining you in NJ. I never had to contend much with an ex and all that goes with it, was fortunate in one respect that they basically faded into the woodwork. I will pray that you are given the strength to maintain the high road and that peace reigns.
Well AF and JoeyD.........the Red Sox played .769 ball (20-6) in July and are on pace for a 99 win season. From the sounds of the updated local news, we may have permanently lost a second starting pitcher (Buchholz, his back) for the remainder of the season. The Yankees don't need this kind of help. Looks like the AL Central has turned into quite the fight for the top spot. The Indians, Tigers, and the White Sox are really in it. That should keep Chuck, SJ, and DougM's interest high.
Brent........you and Susan must be quite anxious and happily excited, and not about the layout progress.
JohnnyF.........I hear ya about the knucklehead drivers who ignore the speed limits past my home and down the street at the intersection with the main road. At the latter, that is where all the kids wait for the school bus, a real danger. If the police would just deputize me for a few months, I am sure I could close my small city's budget defecit by a third writing speeding tickets. The towns around me don't have much of a problem with speeders, they nail the suckers with gusto. In my neighborhood and on my street, the violators live here!!!!!!!! My neighbor across the street and I once came up with a great idea......roll an old 16 pound bowling ball back and forth between our driveways out in front of the speeders.
Chief.........what do you call your tomato delivery service? Eagle's Express? Do you wear a uniform of some sort?
SubmmBob......what gives? We ordered rain from you and now nothing?
RaySP.........not much from you about the knee, so I assume the repair has continued to hold you in good stead.
I got some kind of issue going with my eye lid. Swelling. Look like Rocky Balboa post fight. May have to start wearing a patch and head to the Doctor.
Gotta run!!!!! Later, Gang.
Jack.
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Morning. HOT and HUMID [sunny too]. Picking garden and now soaking wet.
Off to County Commissioners and then Town Board tonight. Going by computer store for new computer at Town Hall. Also visiting Verizon to get new fancy cell foir Town use.
Jack, uniform is a golf shirt with embroidered Mayor Town of Rolesville, NC on right side. Campaigning all the time. All my vehicles hav a front plate with the same on it.
Got to run.
Doug - I just got a little contact rub on my steak from the grill as I left it plain and I cut off most of the fat, too; but I did eat a hot dog with mustard Do you notice that now everything tastes really salty to you if you eat out & etc? We don't notice how much of this stuff we eat usually. I do fear I'll be put on a BP pill next time I have a checkup, as my numbers keep coming in at about 140/90 which is hypertension now.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Mike IE9 is a load of rubbish. I have tried it several times, only to delete it and return to IE8, it is quite happy on both my W7 and XP machines.
Train Sims run better on WXP. I keep W7 for the fancy stuff.
This is a record for me, got on CP#8 on its first day. Quite chuffed........

Afternoon Fellas.Jack - yes we are! We were up late last night discuss the impending change to our lifestyle and it just seems to surreal to be true. I don't think the impact will really hit home till we have her in our arms, and safely back in MD. It is hard to believe the beginning of the end to this saga may any second, but Sunday at the latest (if the darned Dr is finally telling the truth).
Jack, thanks for asking about the knee. It seems to be doing OK. I am walking about 20 minutes a day now and have been for about a month. I think it's about as good as it's going to get. Wish I could say the same about some dental work. I went in and got a temporary reline of my upper partial plate last Thursday. Sunday, it looked like it was starting to delaminate. $225 for four days use. The next step will be to get a permanent reline. Will call them tomorrow. Too busy today.
Celebrated #2 son's birthday last night with dinner out for the whole family. Homemade lemon cake and ice cream for desert afterward at home.
Chief, looks like there will be no interruption on your SS check. The same for me on railroad retirement. I like to see those young rails working hard. However, the railroads are trying to get rid of people as fast as they can. Yard jobs are down to one and two man crews using remote control engines (no engineer on board) and even on the road just two man crews and I'm sure they would like to have just one if they weren't afraid he might fall asleep at the wheel.
Hot weather scheduled for the whole week in the upper 90's. Called tree guy for appointment this morning to trim palm trees about 40 feet tall. They are starting to drop things now on my car.
Still no word on my retired Southern Railway friend, Bill Sellers in Gainsville, GA. since he had surgery and a heart attach following that. I guess no news is good news. My only contact is through his son.
Thought I had heard of everything but this morning there was an article in the paper about pet funeral homes. I have heard of pet cemetaries but I never heard of a pet funeral home.
Have a good week,
Ray

Hope all had a good day talk to you all later probably catch the tardis tonight.
Just returned from a great week of riding trains and boats in New Hampshire and Vermont. Lakes, mountains and trains; what a great way to live. Not one menu had grits listed. No waiters asking if you want "sweet tea".
Yesterday was at the lake house doing some urban logging. I notice Chuck did not show up to help.

Now this is special - twice in one day!
We had the three little princesses here this evening and had a very lively time, as usual. Wish I had some of their energy.
Have a good week.
Buckeye planted a tree at his lake house.
Jack,
Here is what I have so far. The 2023s are done, but the 2333s need one horn on the unpowered unit, all eight portholes, and one number board for each unit. I went through them, and they have really impressed me for early F3s. Very nice runners. There is also an old silver Madison Hardware sticker on the inside of the powered unit shell with the SPring phone #, so they must have been serviced there at some point.
The last I saw the 2343s was while Debbie was wrapping them. I haven't had a chance to unwrap them yet. I'll get to them asap.
I know, I could get to them if I could stop playing with this during my free time.
Colin,
Hope you had a good time.
Spank and Bob,
Glad you are back.
Rich,
Hope everything goes well.
Brent,
Continued for you and Susan. Did you call my cell the other day? I had a call from a number that I didn't recognize.
Good evening
84 right now.
I didn't go anywhere today, just goofed off around the house. I did run one train though. Banilla is ready and I have not had any today so I will share...S.J.
To all,
Test Post.
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEIWTITN. Thanks for the tips. I can post now. Very abbreviated synopsis of events. Saw Captain America. Saturday in Bloomington for grandson's b-day. Scored Christmas present for wife as well at B&N. Went to Celtic fiddle show on Sunday. Menard won at Brickyard. Lucas 5 year checkup ok. Hard to believe it has been that long and you all were there every step of the way. Good day at work. Lucas and I took down tree limb that split off tree from Friday's rain. Wrote check for last bill for dad's estate. Should be up to lawyer to make the final settlement and we will be done with it. Regular fare for breakfast. TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.
BIG PRAYERS. Brent and Susie are in route to FL. Safe trip with a safe return trip with DAUGHTER!!!!
Meetings over. Popcorn time. Long day.
Sleep tight all.
Radio gave the temperature as 104 at 7:45pm today.
Brutus - I agree about salt. It seems to be in just about all prepared foods, both at resturants and from the store. It is seldom that I add salt in anything I cook. Figure that the ingredents I use have more than enough.
How about those Tigers? It is after the all star break and they are still in 1st place.
I realized that I can almost assemble a complete 200 series Alco out of my spares. With some custom paint, this could be a solution for my Minuteman themed locomotive.
All for now.
Evening all
Dennis - Enjoy the article
May God bless
Jim

Good evening all and happy August! Cooler air will happen this month! (I hope)
#2 Daughter turned 28 today and we did what we have done since she was 1, took her out for an ice cream on he birthday! She loves it, I love it, wifey doesn't, not her birthday so no ice cream!
Jack - As the Yanks and Sox keep piling up the wins, it's very appairent that the wild card's coming to one of us. So the Tigers, Indians and White Sox can duke it out. Likes like a good one.
Chief - Thanks for the update one Brent and Susie. Good luck guys!
DJ - Welcome back!
JoeD - If it wasn't for Colon and Garcia this year, I don't know where we would be.
Night All!
Bayville, NJ
Life is what happens to youWhile you're busy making other plans - John Lennon
Brent and Suzie - BIG CONGRATS and GOD SPEED!!!!
Mike - glad you are back online and wow, 5 years!!!! That's a big day!
DJ - welcome back!
Laz - if I was you, my basement would be done already! You're a maniac!
Okay guys - trying FIREFOX now - it said it imported my stuff, but I can't find my favorites? Had to search for CTT. Where did they go - anyone know?
Yeah, IE9 is a pain, I'll try this for a while and see if I like it.
Blah day and weird stuff at work. My boss stepped down from management, which is good for her but bad for us. She was one of the very very few that I liked. She'll still be there, but she'll be in her old job. With luck, she can get a promotion and we can work together again, as co-workers.
TARDIS Is ready and had some nice chats tonight with Charlie, SJ, and RT.
