Evening Fellas.

It has certainly been an interesting few days. Christina became ours today! In a few days we'll have our clearance to leave the state and head back home. The Q and I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers, they have certainly helped the last many years. Christina is the apple of our eyes and the sweetness to our hearts. I just finished giving her a bottle and sending her off to sleep for a few hours while The Q gets some shut eye.

I'll send some pics via email in a day or so for all you 'grandpas and uncles' (I saw that Doug Big Smile).

YESSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!  This one deserves a post of its own.  Please share with Susan my heartfelt congratulations on your new baby girl, Christina, and this whole new and wonderful chapter in your lives.  You are truly blessed.

Jack

PS:  Remind Susan she has to soon eliminate some of the "pet" names she uses for you.  You know, the ones she uses when you have run out of bounds or messed up.  Instead one of Christina's first words being "Da" or "Dada"  it might be something far worse yet far more entertaining.  Whistling.

Hi guyz,  I spoke too soon about the kidney stone cure.  I was out of pain all day yesterday but it returned last night.  I had a hard night and took some more pain pills.  Called my primary doctor this morning and he thought I should either get appointment with a urologist or go back to the ER if I have more trouble.  Either the first stone did not pass or it did and the second one is there now.  Just don't know yet?

V8 Vega, thanks for the kind words.  I too feel a sort of kinship to the folks on the forum who live here in Southern California.  There are about four that I can think of including us.  Congratulations on the T1 aquisition.  You can never have too many engines!  Enjoy them while you can before you take on family responsibilites perhaps in the future.  I used to get those guilt feelings after a big purchase but we soon get over it.

Have a good day,

Ray

Good evening guys.  The thunder is rolling, so I will make this quick.  Early start to the day, but finished early too.  Going to take family out to dinner hopefully before the rains open up.  Brent, congratulations on the end of a fantastic journey.  Have a safe journey home and please, please, stay away from power tools!  You have a very special girl who needs you around.

V8, congratulations on the recent acquisitions.  Keep it up and you will have a stable the size of Chief's!

Fife, hope you are up and well soon.  You have to keep the folks up in MD safe and the bad guys put away!  And the yachet needs to be exercised.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good Evening

84 right now.

I had toast and peanut butter for breakfast. Figured I was fairly safe fixing that. Cut the front grass and sprayed some weeds. The back grass hasn't grown all that much so I let it slide. Pizza Hut $10.00 take out for supper and the green peppers are telling me I need some banilla..S.J.

Good afternoon all, back in the ER today for another suspected kidney stone attack.  After taking an MRI they ruled out kidney problem but said it was most likely back pain.  DR. recommended Aleve but that is pretty rough on the stomach.  She says to take it with food.  Had a rough night last night and took pain killer pills.   I want to get away from those because they may become addictive.

I feel better this afternoon but they gave me some anti inflamatory drugs though an IV.  We'll see how it goes when that wears off.

S&P downgrades U.S. to AA+ rating today but the other two rating places still show AAA.

V8 Vega, you are really snapping up some buys lately.  Good for you.

later,

Ray

Good night all.  Ex's visitation was over.  We were one of the first ones to go through the line.  SIL and her hubby went with us.  She was starving so went to Mie Mie's [French] for a meal.  Another big meal for me today.  Plop plop fiz fiz.  Too late to go to thelake house this full and tired.  Oh!  After the big meal we had to stop in the mall and make the complete rounds of Belks. Crying

Sleep tight.

SPMAN - hope your back pain gets better.  V8 - congrats on the wins man!  Doug, don't bid against me on a percy!!!  Sounds like you are having some fun with the train apps Thumbs Up  Why don't they have any on xbox360, I wonder?  They do have Ticket to Ride though and can play against others online.

My sister Dee and her hubby are moving from Atlanta GA to Littleton Colorado.  His work is moving him.  They stopped in STL on their way (sort of) to visit, while their household goods are shipped.  We had a big family get together with my folks, my family, my sister Mary and her family, Dee and her family, and my brother John and his family.  Only Kate and Christine and their families were missing, so it was only about a richter scale 8 when we all sang happy birthday to some of the kids who have August birthdays (including my daughter).  I feel like Chief said - plop plop fizz fizz.  Too much pizza, salad, toasted rav, and cake!  Dad was pretty good until the sugar kicked in and then we had to get out of there as he started arguing with everyone.

I got home in time to have a chat with Jim and John.  TARDIS is ready and we have banilla, but I'm too full, so more for you guys!!!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

I made it home from work at a decent time, but walking into a whole bunch of honey-dos the moment I walked in the door.  I had a brief break for dinner - grilled pork chops, rice, and green beans, but my wife was in the zone so we went right back to work.  After about four hours of solid work she called it quits.  We did accomplish a lot: separated items to go into storage and items to donate.  I did have a quick break to bring the FIL and kids to get gelato so it wasn't all bad.  The Yankees won game one of the series against the SoxBig Smile

SP Ray - I hope you heal up quickly.  I don't like to take any pain medicine either.  After my appendectomy a couple of years ago I refused to take the Percocet and other heavy painkillers they tried to give me.  I only took Tylenol for a couple of days and that was it.

Banks - I'm glad your mom is finished her treatment.  I hope you get a good report in September.

Chief - Those trips to Belks can be rough; I hope you have recovered. Beer

Good night,

Joe

Good evening all,

It was cloudy today in SE Indiana.  Good day at work.  Good day at the track as Vitor was 12th and Swiss Miss 11th in first practice for Mid-Ohio.  Will be heading out Saturday AM.

CONGRATS TO BRENT AND SUSIE!!!!!!  LONG TIME COMING AND SOME GOOD NEWS HERE FOR ONCE!!!!!

V8Vega, to answer your question, until the Pot came along, it was pretty dead here.  There have been some good threads (most notably the AF series), but not as much staying power as the Pot.

Went to see Cowboys and Aliens.  Good flick.  Do not read the reviews.  Garage sale did not go well for Lucas and fiancee  Will try again tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Saturday Morning!

Off to a rare day at work.  I swapped Wednesday for today so I could get the Princess registered for college.  Then I was off to see Def Leppard & Heart at the PNC center, didn't get to bed until 0200.

Congas to Brent & the Q!

Had dinner last night with a friend, this after Fire Drill Thursday night, then Mutual Aid to another district and a call there, returning home and turned right around to another Mutual Aide call in another district and a call there...by 0230 I had gotten home and then had ANOTHER call....I had to go to bed, my alarm was set for 0645 for work.  Needless to say, I'm beat and tonight I was supposed to go to a high school alumni function ..... think I'm just going to bed.

OK off to provide SSI to those in need....Bang Head

See ya Later!

Morning everyone.  It is a bit foggy and to get to the 100+ again.  Have some driving to do as we are heading to FIL's for a few hours.  Chief, you are a good man.  Pray the kids will find His comfort at this time of loss.  Brent, hope you are able to get some sleep....just don't do it at work!
Brutus, talk about one extreme to the other....from the oven to the ice box.  Hope they make the transition.

I see we got downgraded by S&P....think the folks in DC will learn to live within the budget....we may need to clean house!

Hope each of you has a blessed day.

Morning all [gurgle gurgle].  3 inches of rain in a short while.  Places in Wake Co and Raleigh are flooded. StormLightning  Thank God for rain.  Phone call to lake and only light rain so far.  Rain has delayed our leaving for the lake house.  Will check the pond before leaving.  Bet it came up some.  Sump pump going regularly.  We both have been napping along with the kids [dogs and cats].  Watching I Love Lucy marithon on Halmark Channel.

Have a good one.

Good morning all, I'm still strugling with my back pain problem after a fair night.  Had to take two pain killers to sleep.  Plan to see my primary physician Monday if he will take me.

#2 son is off on another weekend trip this morning to the Bay Area for car race and railfanning.  He will fly up and back from here and leave car at airport so I don't have to pick him up.

TTOS Southwestern is having their annual picnic at the L.A. Live Steamers in Griffith Park today but I am unable to go because of my back problem.  Glad I didn't make a reservation now but I'm sorry to miss another opportunity to see the former Walt Disney Barn which was given to the Live Steamers by the Disney family.  It was Walt;s workshop for his backyard live steam railroad, The Carolwood Pacific.

Have a good weekend all,

Ray

Had the Wing in yesterday for her 12K check up and fresh oil, heading up to Lake Superior with our youngest son for our annual bike ride next week, we'll be on the road for 5 days so we can return to MPLS to see the Twins pound the Yankee's, hopefully.  Buckeye -- we are staying at the Lock View again in Soo, thanks again for that suggestion.

After that it's home for a short while and then off to Colorado for TWO funtastic weeks of riding the Rockies.  Jack -- I think CO has some of the nicest weather in the USA, even in the winter it can be 50 in Denver.  Sadly, millions of other folks have also figured that out.  Great place to visit and we are only about 10 hours away, now if we could just eliminate Nebraska ....

I was up early to pick up donuts and do some final cleaning of the house.  I will be off to the OKC airport in a couple of hours to pick up my father, sister, and niece.  They will be here until next Saturday so it should be a good time.

Back at work 'til Monday. Was raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock just a bit ago, but sounds like it has stopped now. Good thing we are not trying to paint the outside of the telescope this summer.

Chief - sorry to hear about your loss. Prayers for the family

Great news for Brent and Susie!

Hang in there SP Ray, I hate those little Kidney sea urchins as well

Off to do some work on the kitchen sink. New drain plumbing last night. Now have to put something over the old fiberboard cabinet base.

Aloha. Hot and sunny today. Spent most of the morning with a friend facing divorce. Made him help me replace a leaky kitchen faucet as a distraction. Good thing too as I snapped off a rusty connection and had to cut it out. Five hours later we finished. Stick out tongue  Ah well. Hope you're feeling better, Ray and Dennis.

V8 Vega and all, thanks for the well wishes for me.  V8, I have medicare and United Health Care.  Under my plan, I can see any doctor without a referal.  However, my primary doctor is my pulmanary doctor also and I seem to be able to see him without a long wait.  If my condition is serious, he will probably refer me to an orthopaedic doctor I imagaine.  I just got a call a few minutes ago from a doctor at the hospital following up on my visit yesterday.  I was really impressed that they gave a hoot or had the time.  I'm presently taking Vicodin with tylenol and one tablet in 12 hours of Aleve.  It seems to be keeping the pain under control today.  Just got an invite from friends to join them for dinner at their house tonight.  That was a pleasant surprise and we don't have to cook.

Thanks again for the good wishes,

Ray

Evenin' All.

Ray, Back aches/pain can be misery, seems like one just cannot find a comfortable position.

Jon, One of these days the better half and I will have to make a trip back to the Rockies. Be interesting to see what the Grand/Shadow Mountain/Granby Lakes have become in the 40yrs(?) since we lived there. Wonder if the old Fall River Rd from Estes Park is still open ? It was an old one-way gravel road from when Rocky Mountain National Park was first opened. A gorgeous ride but ruff.

The better half went with me to the museum yesterday, I packed a nice lunch and some drinks for the two of us since the regular lunch faire is off my list. Started setting my toys up a little after ten and was really having fun with the other club members and our guests. Long about two o'clock I pretty much hit the wall and had to pack-up and head home, fell asleep as soon as I sat on the couch.

Jim, Found a bunch of "no added salt" stuff at the grocery. Going to experiment with using them to make a pot of Chili. Chef

Low 90's and humid.  Had a little rain over the last couple of days.

Jonadel - very pretty country where you are planning on taking your yearly ride.  I'm jealous.  Be sure you stop and eat some pasties while you are in that part of the world.  Any particular places that you are planning on visiting?

Still crazy at work.  I've logged about 80 hours since Saturday morning a week ago.  Played hookie from work yesterday afternoon.  My wife and I went to the 'big city' for a movie and dinner.  A little bit of downtime like that from time to time helps clear my mind.

We watched 'Unstoppable" tonight.  Not a bad movie.  I question some of the technical feats, though - throwing switches with enough precision to shuttle two locomotives onto a siding, while still letting the runaway train to continue on the main line.  Isn't air perssure needed to release the breaks on freight cars?  If that is true, the whole premise of the movie is kind of shot.

All for now.

Hot out today and rain in Saint Louis.  My son and I finished the drywall on that one wall as well as another little project.  We have to do the shower next.  I'm looking into anti-mold ceiling tiles for a drop ceiling.  Otherwise, I'll have to drop the ceiling with some 2x4s I guess and drywall that as well.  Hate having to rethink stuff right at the end like this, lol!  But, just for the bathroom.  Doug - I hate plumbing!  My Grandad was a plumber and that was in the old days with all that cast iron and stuff.

DougDG - doc recommended getting low salt spaghetti sauce and mixing with regular tomato sauce, which doesn't have salt in it?  I've yet to try that, but we don't have spaghetti too often.

TARDIS ready, banilla on board, ready to go.  I see some beacons coming on on the big scope, so let's get going!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Jim,

To deal with condensation a standard bathroom without an opening window requires a two speed extract fan connected to the outside, it must comply with even your building regulations with regard to siting, duty and controls.                                                                                                                                            Perhaps 'The Chief' can enlighten you furtherWhistling.

What is Banilla and Tardis?

Dennis  San Fernando Valley CA.

I asked the same question about banilla and Brutus provided the answer. As for the Tardis, although it is his chosen mode of transport, it is a very English device used by Dr Who to take him on his journeys through space and time. Like a Pekinese dog it is bigger inside than the outside (have you ever seen one of these things do a$1****$2--WOW!!!)                                                                                                                                                                           The real thing was a royal blue painted wooden British police reporting centre about five feet square by eight foot high with a blue light atop used to summon officer(s) to a telephone connected to the local nick. To the left of the door was a cupboard containing an emergency telephone for public use, again connected to the nick. these were scattered about our towns and citys during the 1950s and 60s before portable radios, mobile (cell) phones and cars took away the ability to walk. Near to where I live now, they built a brick Tardis because the locals burned the wooden one down. This used to be one hell of a rough area.
