Mornin' fellas and gals;     Rained here last nite.  Sat on the porch with family 'till skeeters chased us inside.     Hey Grumpy Doug; cardio man tells me that the stress of not havin' a beer is worse than havin' one, or two,or three, or.......you get the idea!  Laugh    Hey Laz, Joe;   A hundred years ago when i was little( or so it seems),  livin' in the inner city, i had a paper route like most of us did. Being the industrious type, i had a morning route which i delivered the Daily News and and afternoon route which i delivered the L. I. Press, now Newsday.  At that time there were a lot more day games.  I would deliver my afternoon papers listening to the games on the radio as i rode my bike down the streets and sidewalks never missing a pitch because in the summer just about everyone was outside sittin' around with their radios on. Didn't matter to me which team was playin', always kept my brain going with such great announcers like Mel Allen, Red Barber then later on Vince Scully.  After 1958 i kinda changed when the Dodgers and Giants moved away, but then something funny happened, I discovered girls!    Boy oh boy oh boy!  What a discovery that was!     Wink               later.

Think good thoughts, do good deeds!

August 4th. O so happy it's Thursday! Jacksonville, FL is expected to officially hit 100 today. Waiting to see if we get a wekend visit from Emily. No trains today unless after class tonight. Went to primary care physician's office for lab work today. Phlebotomist asks what work I was supposed to have done!!! I told her the pharmacy had written needs lab work on outside of one of the enevlopes so I called for an appointment. Makes one wonder if any communication really goes on between doctors, pharmacies, etc! I want to start cataloging videos, DVDs, and books again. I got some round Post-It-Notes stickers to attach so I will know which ones I have in the computer.

Prayers to all who need them and thanks to all of you for your care, prayers, and concern for me.

Good morning all,

I walked to work this morning and brought the kids with me.  The wife met a friend for breakfast so the kids spent an hour or so at my office.  My office is only one mile from our house so it was an easy walk even with a 10y/o, 8y/o, and 1y/o in a stroller.  I have plenty of paperwork to finish today.

Traindood - I have some great paper route stories from when I was a kid.  And some of them even involve girls.Smile, Wink & Grin

SJ - I hope Granny is coping well with the loss of her uncle.

Good day,

Joe

Good early afternoon,

We got a nice shower overnight, about a half inch, and it has been cooler today.  Going to take it easy as the heat of the past few weeks has really knocked the ambition out of me.  Not much happening train wise.

Has anyone else tried to post to this forum from their Iphone?  I have not been able to do it.  I can post to BigBlue with no problem but not this forum.

Good morning all,  I went in to the ER this morning and got my kidney stone problem fixed.  After trying to pass it at home for three days, I gave up.  They did an ultra sound screening and found that there were two so there is probably another one in there lurking somewhere.  The doctor said that their was a large one in the kidney and she hoped it would not leave there for my sake since she said it was too large to pass.  The one that was causing the trouble must have passed into the bladder at least because the pain is gone now.  Stopped by the donut shop on the way home and got a bear claw to celebrate.  Haven't had one of those in years.

Close friend of mine who is house bound due to COPD had cataract surgery yesterday and it went well.  I'm happy for him since he loves to read a lot and now he can as well as watching car races on TV.

A little cooler today (90) they say.  Sorry for you guys in the East with all that record breaking heat and humidity.

Need to find some good tomatoes today if that's possible in a store.

later,

Ray

Good Afternoon From Sunny and High 70s Taxachusetts,

Sorry for my absence.  I've been between the dentist and the doctor this week, sharing in some of the "fun" some of you have been having.  You guys know the drill: hurry up and wait.  I was tempted at one point to order in pizza for delivery for the medical and ancillary staff, but wasn't sure such bribery works in these situations.  The customary patient overbooking, emergencies, a medical lecture, two dental lectures, a botched prescription, and throw in one lapse in communication whereby if I had not gotten up and asked I would still be sitting there.  Bang Head

Now I find myself three or four days behind on the Pot.  So this will be brief.

Chief, prayers for you, Frankie, and the family on your sudden unexpected loss. Mel.......continued prayers for your successful treatment regimen.    DougDG....same for you, plus prayers your stamina picks up a bit.  SJ......prayers on the loss of Granny's Uncle.  I have not heard from Brent since he was on his way to the airport, so prayers he and Susan have had smooth sailing, no serious snags, and are making their way back by car safely as proud new parents.....gotta drive through North Carolina, so you never know.  Prayers for NavyJack (RIP) and for his family.  RaySP.....hope they got all of the suckers and that you have no reoccurence; you need to drink 96 ounces of adult beverages daily to avoid these things.  Spanky, poison ivy, nasty stuff but better than what SP ray had.  Fife.....see my advice to Ray.

Later, gang.

Jack.

Aloha. Hot and sunny - John, unfortunately the iPad and iPhone doesn't work on this software. Joe, those Yanks sure looked awesome - just like the BoSox before them - you can stick a fork in my Sox. I sure love listening to them on the radio - lately I've been following the games pitch  by pitch on an iPad app from ESPN. . DJSpanky, that sounds like an awesome birthday celebration for Corey.  DougDG, glad you're taking it easy. Jack, just got back from the dentist today - I can't believe I scheduled the whole family for the same day. Hope you're feeling better, Brutus!

Good evening everyone.  I will try to recall all that I read and respond to some.  Jon, I have some great friends in Durango.  I hope to get up that way before too long.  Traindood, my dad has a photo of Vince Scully with my dad and a bunch of his friends hanging around the school yard.  Mr. Scully was a resident of our town in NJ.  RT, yeah, I noticed that about Navyjack's birthday.  Sad story and he is missed.  It was nice to see a bunch of the guys work at trying to help him with enjoying the hobby given his limitations.  Spanky, glad you got it and hope he enjoys it...I am sure he will.  Hope you enjoy it too!  Chief, continued prayers for your kids in the loss of their mom.  Brent, if you read this, know that we are praying for you to get back home.  May you and the family have travelling mercies and a smooth transition.

Was another long day.  Had to go in early to instruct someone on doing a particular case.  Then, had to do my own case.  Got another early morning, but at least I should be done early too.  Kids are enjoying their last full week of summer vacation.  They head back to school next Friday.

Hope each of you have a blessed night.
Dennis

Evening Fellas.

It has certainly been an interesting few days. Christina became ours today! In a few days we'll have our clearance to leave the state and head back home. The Q and I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers, they have certainly helped the last many years. Christina is the apple of our eyes and the sweetness to our hearts. I just finished giving her a bottle and sending her off to sleep for a few hours while The Q gets some shut eye.

I'll send some pics via email in a day or so for all you 'grandpas and uncles' (I saw that Doug Big Smile).

Good evening all,

I left work around 1730 to go have dinner with the wife, kids, and in-laws.  I went back to work after dinner and just came home around 2200.  My time here at this assignment is getting short and there are many things I would like to complete before I leave.  The Yankees completed their sweep of the Sox and are now tied with the Sox for first in the AL East.  They start a three-game series tomorrow so it should be interesting.

Brent - That is great news.  Congratulations!

Vega - I'm sure the forum old-timers did not have as much fun back then as we do now.Laugh

Doug - Your Sox hit the road now so you may be right about needing the fork.Crying

DJ Spanky – Happy Birthday to your son!  He has some great presents coming.

Cooled off a bit today, and even rained a little this morning.

I grew up listening to the Tigers called by Ernie Harwell.  Many pleasant memories of hot summer evenings listening to the radio or watching on TV.

Speaking of the Tigers, looks like they have opened their lead up a little.

All for now.

hello all,

TGIF!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to Brent & Q

Busy week, Got some much needed rain. Now to see if it's too late. Mom had her final treatment yesterday. We'll find out how it went Sept 7 on her follow up. The two hour trip to Pittsburgh took four hours yesterday due to a fire closing route 22 at Blairsville. Arrived 45 minutes late so our slot was gone. We had to wait two hours.

I'll be working out of the office next week. Don't know how much I'll be able to check in.

SS Fund calls

Prayers for those in need

Aloha from a sunny and hot Chicago where young drunk music-lovers take over the town this weekend for a big fest. TGIF anyway Big Smile.  Daughters are special, Brent Yes. Brutus, you're exactly right about the text box config. not being recognized by this software.  Great deal, DennisV8. I've been browsing for a Percy to convert into an Ivor.  Spent the evening listening to the Sox and driving a Deltic around a Trainz layout on the iPad. Then playing with the Ivor the Engine app. Tried to emulate Yahoo Messenger too - to get the conference feature via Imo but no joy.

RockIsland - Doc says that antibiotics + Drinks or Beer = Dead

I can wait.

Fife........this is why you should always ask for the initial antibiotic injection before the pill regimen even starts.  It gets the antibiotic effectiveness level in the bloodstream up to max effectiveness right away and then cuts down the pill-taking period = shorter Beer Drinks abstinence period.  Pirate

Good afternoon all,

I am just finishing up a quick lunch break and have time for a quick post.  I had a four-mile run this morning, followed by oatmeal, one boiled egg, OJ, and coffee for breakfast.  I'm not sure what time I'll leave work this evening but I want to get home at a decent time.  My father, sister, and niece will be arriving tomorrow for a visit.  They will be here for one week so I need to help my wife make sure the house is in order.

Vega - Fife beat me to it.  I was going to offer to help you out with all those extra engines as well.  We are such good people.  Angel

Good day,

Joe
