Good Morning,
Thanks for the Birthday Wishes. It was a long day for me yesterday. We have a problem tensioner that is needed for a pull this morning so it had to go. Got out real late and an early start today.
Mike congrats on your son's engagement.
Building in flood zones: that is one thing that I can not figure out. If it never flooded there before is one thing, but to build where it floods and then keep rebuildng, I just can't see it.
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
Have a great day,
John
Good morning all,
Rain sometime today in SE Indiana. Speaking of Lucas, he is officially engaged to his GF now. They are planning to get married sometime in summer 2012 (hope it is not a soccer night lol). Not much else going on. Practice for 500 starts tomorrow. Regular fare on dining car. TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good night. Brutus, mine still working [both]. Will send you an email. I see Sir. J is trying to improve his image. BTW: gang, it is shipped. Sleep tight.

Chief - compat mode didn't stick. Just had to turn it back on?
John Hudson 685 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Jack and Dennis - we hardly ever get prints made of our pictures. They are backed up on multiple computers and a storage drive. We do get some prints, usually when we are sharing them.
Laz -
I like IBC rootbeer, DAD's, and A&W too. I used to have some syrup that would make rootbeer with added sugar and yeast in a pitcher in the fridge. It was really good, too. Wonder if you can get that stuff any more?
TARDIS is ready so let's hit it guys!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
John,
As for root beer, I am an IBC guy, but Faygo is a close second. The parts from Jeff were in the mailbox this morning, so I spent the afternoon worling on the 624. I got the chasis together after wrestling with the power truck thanks to Lionel boxing the motor in between the frame and lamp bracket. It runs well now. I'll update the thread tomorrow with more info and pics.
I called about a Probe that's been sitting behind a local shop for some time. It turns out that the owner had the shop do an ATX rebuild, then stuck the shop with the car and bill. It is a 93 base with the 2.0 four cylinder and 4EAT transaxle (ugh) and they want $2500 to cover their investment. I am going to avoid it.
Happy Birthday Hudson

Good evening. Happy Birthday John. Congratulations and many more for you sir. Jack, not sure about the D3100 video capabilities. Check B & H photo's web site for the specs. I do know that Nikon has gotten more advanced with the newer cameras. Regarding the photographer side of things, yeah, that happens to me too. Most times, I tell them I will burn a disk and they can do with it as they please. I have also taken shots at events where the "professionals" had taken photos and they could not produce them...they used mine.
Hope y'all have a great night.Dennis

John!
A number of us are over 70, still working, and enjoying it. Us farmers are just now hitting our stride. Our average age nation wide is 67!
Question - Why did I have to sigh in to post this??

Rootbeer?. Lately I have been buying A & W, a very good local one is Faygo. Hires & Dads were old favorites. Banilla? I've never met a banilla I didn't like....S.J.
Happy birthday Hudson
Jack, I am leaning towards what you suggest. I think it would be better sooner than later because it might get worse while the doctor is gone. Have to figure out some details too like how to take a shower during recovery. The doctor mentioned something about a shower seat but my shower is in the tub so I don't know how that will work. I have seen pictures on the net of chairs you can put in the tub. Just have to get one the right size. Also it would be better now for my son to help out at home because he will be going away on vacation next month.
Dennis, thank you for the reminder about the blood work. I will call the doctor's office as soon as they open this morning. I'm not crazy about the hospital where this will be done but since it will be done as an outpatient I won't have to stay there. The doctor said they have better equipment for him than the one near me.
Well, got to get cracking, while I can.
Later,
Ray

Morning all!
Got a great rain yesterday - nearly 1.5 inches. We needed it. Cooler today and front tonight will cool things a bit more for the weekend (low 80's and maybe 50's in the am). Like Brutus I have to get the lawn mowed.
Happy B-Day John! (Hudson)!
Buckeye - I warned you about the Cherrios and asked about your plumber!
I think I am going to add "Happy Birthday Buckeye" permanently in my posts signature .
Have a great day all!

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Cool and Overcast Taxachussetts,
We may get a few moments of sun today and tomorrow, but the temps will not top the 60's in the next few days and the rain is scheduled to return. Since April 1 we have had precipitation half of the days!
Last night the wifey and I were discussing a MA employment law case study. The case involved an employee caught red handed, stealing from the MA-based company, not once but twice. Apparently in the first incident the company showed the employee mercy, reprimanded him, and then gave him a second chance. He subsequently got caught stealing yet a second time and was immediately fired for cause. Unemployment benefits were denied by the company. The former employee then filed suit to acquire unemployment benefits. The MA courts ruled that the company had to pay the serial thief's unemployment benefits because of precedence. That is correct. Since the company decided to take their lumps for the first incident yet show mercy and cut the guy a break, they were required by the courts to pay his unemployment benefits. What is wrong with that picture? Reward the thefts and pay the guy to stay home? Behind California, Taxachusetts has the most prohibitive and expensive employment costs in the nation......and the POLS can't understand why businesses are pulling out of our state. Fidelity Investmens, a long time MA company, pulled out of Taxachusetts recently to set up shop in adjoining states, and taking with them a few thousand jobs.
Chuck......you need to suck down all of the leftover brewskies from your birthday celebration. Otherwise, they will get skunky. Waste is a sin. If you need help, LAZ and I and the rest of us will drop by and lend you a helping hand and keep you without sin.
Hudson John..... I think we should all raise our glasses to toast you at 10PM Eastern time. Glad to hear that a strike and possible violence was averted at your company. Regarding your son being awarded the Renaissance Award for "making a difference in the lives of others," that speaks volumes of his character and his future leadership abilities. You and your wife must be so proud of him, and of yourselves.
SJ.......my family members always ask me why I order root beer floats every time we go out for ice cream. I never tire of them. BURP! What is your favorite brands of root beer and banilla?
Buckeye.......folks who buy homes in areas susceptible to flooding? My experience has been that people spend far too little time researching what arguably is the largest single purchase of their lives. When/if they checked on homeowners insurance before the purchase, paid attention to the required home inspection observations, or read the purchase and sale contract disclosure statements which by law require a disclosure of flood damage, they would or should have known not to have bought there in the first place. The property and casualty carrier would have pointed out the previous flooding out. Chatting with their prospective neighbors prior to purchase would have been a good idea too. While I have compassion for those who become sad victims of a catastrophic and unforeseen natural disaster, I also question why conversely we bail out other folks' for their poor decisions, those who decide to live in harms way anyway. We all wind up paying with a significant level of wasted state and Federal tax dollars and jacked insurance premiums. For what? By the way, .
RaySP.......if I were you, I'd take your Doc's offer and slide in and get the knee cartilage procedure done sooner rather than later. for the wife of your friend. Given her age and the downside risks of surgery, I agree with the pharmaceutical approach.
Dennis.......the wife and I have been doing some research reading and skipped over the Nikon D90, preferring the D3100 with the 18-55MM VR Vibratiion Reduction lens and the package that provides the optional 55-200MM VR zoom. Problem is, you have me wondering if the D3100 likewise requires manual focus adjustments when set to video. My objective is a single camera that does it all for the long haul......since I am the only family member who shows up ready to preserve the Kodak moments.
Don't know why the rest of my clan bother to buy cameras in the first place. Time after time I hear the same panic: "OMG, I forgot my camera! I forgot to charge it! I forgot to download the pictures taken during the past 12 months and have no memory left. Jack, did you remember to bring your camera?" That is followed a day or two later with: "Where are the photos? Did you photoshop them? Can you email them directly to the following 12 folks. Can you then have the following print #s made up at Walmart for these other 6 people? Can you get this done by tomorrow?"
MikeC.......your Lucas is a fine son who helps you out with these necessary projects while not destroying your landscape and the tools in the process. I can remember the days not so long ago when you were sweating whether he would get into the college of his choice.
AF Ray........there is altogether too much grousing coming out of you and DemayJoe about the Yankees. First place is first place, and the wrong team is in it.
DougM........the White Sox and the Cubs both won last night, and your Bulls are still in the hunt.
Rich.......we are still waiting for some MOPAR project photos from you. Sorry to hear you and your princess could not be together for her birthday.
LAZ.....17 more days of school? We would have thought you graduated a few decades back.
Basketball season is over for the Boston Celtics.
Gotta run. Later, gang.
Jack
IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Happy Birthday John, 3 candles X 30 = 90 hope I got the age right.
Partly cloudy. Smokey and smelly. Fire down east is still raging and winds blowing from the coast are causing code orange days. Remember the one two years ago. Burned for a month. Peat is hard to put out.
A couple of meeting in town and that is it.
Have a good one.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN (HUDSON 685) and many more!!!!!
Hope you get something with flanged wheels. Enjoy your day!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 70 degrees. Going up to 80 today with a chance of rain.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I can relax. Got my new reefer car yesterday. Looks great. Plan to run trains this afternoon.
Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.

BUCKEYE,
About the flooding and people losing their furiture. Maybe they want to redo there interior designs and get new furniture every 5 years. Just think what would happen if they didn't have dirt floors?

The nurse said to me after I had my stomach pumped to never eat that many boxes of Cheerios again even on Chuck's birthday. But stick strictly to GRITS.
The nurse said, after looking at the contents pumped from my stomach, "Did you eat a teaspoonful of grits? Grits will make you deathly ill if you wear shoes and use indoor plumbing"
Laz....Teachers are the only people I know who count the days. The rest of us just count to the weekend, which means TGIT.
Somebody explain to me why you build a house in an area that every five to ten years floods. We have people in Southern Ohio that built house sin the last five years in low lying areas and now three feet of water has entered the house detroying their furniture and walls.

Beautiful day in NJ. The meter readers union and the compamy reached an agreement last night and the union members are set to vote on it .
My wife and I went to my son's award reception and presentation. The awards Renasance Awards, were if a teacher has an exceptional or a student makes a difference in the teacher's life or other students lives they may be nominated. I was right, my son's Wood Shop teacher nominated him. It was very impressive.
I really liked the Bin Laden commentaries. Thanks guys.
SPMan, Ray, Good luck with the knee. Speedy recovery.
AF53, Ray, 6:30 comes early, I am already at work.
Thoughts and prayers for all in need.
Have a Great Day,
Good early morning gang. Heading in in a few moments. Prayers said, The Book read, and ready for the day ahead. Ray, hope they are able to get you taken care of and back into top shape in the very near future. If you do decide, you should call early so they can make arrangements for you to have your blood work done. Many places require it prior to going in for the actual surgery.
Hope to catch up with everyone late. Have a blessed day.Dennis
Rain held off so Lucas and I mowed the yard and then I went to scrimmage with the high school kids in soccer last night. Still fighting cold. TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.
Been busy time at work with 14 hr days for the past 2 weeks so it's been tireing to say the least.
2:00am and just got home from da Bronx and it was a first for us. An extra inning lose. Ugly game in which we went like getting only 2 hits with runners in scoring position, very frustrating.
Well gotta get some rest as 6:30 is soon here!
Good night
Chief - thanks for the instructions, looks like it is working
RT - Love that FB post!
Ray - prayers for your friend!
John - big congrats to your son!
No rain today, but hit the 90's! EEK! I did not mow the lawn, as it is supposed to get cooler on the weekend. Oh well, it will just be all the more fun to cut the jungle then, after it has had time to grow another foot taller! TARDIS is ready and had a nice chat with SJ and Charlie tonight. Missed RT - got spoiled with him off every night for a week :)
Chuck,
Ray,
The control box for the 314AW arrived today. It is much nicer than the one I had briefly last November, and was worth the six month hunt and $62.97. No rust on this one and the stamping is good. I hope the parts I ordered from Jeff get here tomorrow so that the 624 project will be done. I am also going to see about getting another toy tomorrow.
