Aloha. Grey and colder. Nice evening. After the usual evening craziness- running out to get a new heat lamp bulb for the lizard, picking up and dropping off kids, I got to watch Top Gear and the Six Nations Rugby final, whilst eating leftovers, then ran trains. Bride was out at her cooking club.

May get some of your snow later this week, Joe. Employee annual review time here. HR has created such an elaborate, multi-page matrix full of acronyms. We close the door, talk about how things are going, what works and what could be better, then I fill out the papers like HR wants. Works for us.  Jack, condolences on the loss of your friend. Distracted everything these days - watched someone walk right into traffic on Dearborn whilst texting - almost got killed.  Brutus, you're brilliant. Happy B-Day to your bride.  Fife, my boy - who doesn't know how to skate - dreams of the NHL...Big Smile

Mornin' boys.  Storm  and 51 all day in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Had to be bulldog this morning with fifepup.  He proclaimed, again, that he intends to play in the NFL.  Zero athletic ability, mind you.  Sent him to school brooding. Sigh

Good Mornin Ya'll From Overcast Taxachusetts,

29 degrees here, seems like frigid.  The weather has included snow showers and rain the past few days but it is supposed to reach 40 today.  Vermont has 32 inches of new white stuff on the ground, so it could be worse.

Please say a prayer for a good friend of mine.  He lost his wife of 39 years 22 months ago.  She was a pedestrian, tragically hit by a car and killed.  The driver was charged with vehicular manslaughter.  The trial has finally begun, and my buddy is reliving the horror all over again.  The families sitting on both sides of the isle in the courtroom are devastated.  Distracted driving?  The end result is the same.  Our friend, his children, and his grandchildren have lost her forever, and he is struggling.

I ask that each of us take a moment today with our loved ones who drive.  Tell them that you love them.  Remind them that in a flash their lives and those of so many others can change irrepairably in the blink of an eye if they take their eyes and mind off the road when behind the wheel of a 4,000 pound weapon.  If they had heard this woman's injuries as I have, they just might think twice before playing with some gadget or anything that might cause some tragedy such as this.

Our friend was a kind and giving person, but she is gone.  It didn't have to happen.

Good morning all,

It is rainy again in SE Indiana.  Did the paper work on dad's car last night.  The house showing went well.  Who knows, may be in a month or two, everything will be settled.  Work could have been a lot better yesterday, but persevered and made it ok. Lots to do today.  Scrimmage with "my" soccer girls tonight.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after soccer, but someone else will have to drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Late evening all!

My son and I got the video of the Texas Motor Speedway Nascar ride. Very crappy quality. Calculated track speed and we did not get much over 140 at best. Think I will go ask for a refund - right - and get new Depends if we got another ride to 160.

MAy not be able to check in tomorrow morning but I need some help - what are you talking about - white stuff from the sky???? Major cold front this weekend and temps will drop from 80 to 70 on Sat - will have to get our coats back out?

Prayers for those that need them.

Have a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

.......... Tyler turned 8 on 3/3, got a couple of train cars amongst other things for his birthday.  We had a party for him at the bowling alley.  Gotta get a track layout set up so that he can run his new cars.

This sounds like a great scheme to double the rate at which the Spanky RR empire is built.  Big Smile  Hope the little guy loved his gift.

Howdy guys - nothing much going on here today.  Tomorrow is my wife's birthday and we are going to dinner and then to a store to let her verify she really wants the piece of jewelry I picked out for her - I learned this trick years ago, lol!

Nice chats with SJ and Charlie.  News just showed a story on the new highspeed train that will connect Saint Louis and Chicago at last Thumbs Up.  Now they are pushing for Saint Louis to KC.  So you could go from KC to Chicago eventually in just about 5 hours by train, I think?  These would be 110 mph lines I believe.

8N - hope your wife's knee improves!  Prays for us all and our loved ones for healing and blessings.

TARDIS is ready and I got Rich to adjust the stabilizer again after last night Laugh

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

It’s a late check-in for me.  I didn't do much after work this evening.  I had time to play some catch with my 7y/o son and that's about it.  We ate dinner late due to it being our daughter's ballet class day.  I've spent the past two hours playing with the baby and getting him to fall asleep.  Unfortunately, no trains tonight either.

DJ Spanky - I hope your son had a great birthday.

I missed the Tardis tonight.  I am going to swing by Charles Ro before heading off to bed; they are having a big sale.

Good night,

Joe

Chief, thanks for posting about the high speed trains of the future in North Carolina.  I've been gone from the East so long, I am surprised to learn that things have become so modern and busy in that part of the world.  My memory is still of steam powered trains and dirt roads in the old North State.  I'm sure it's a lot different now.  I'm going to try some new kind of pulled pork to make bar-b-que that I found out here.  It is cooked but they leave any seasoning off so you can do it yourself.  I'll let you know how it turns out.  How are your NS executive F units doing?  Didn't you get the MTH version?  I just ordered the WBB version but haven't got them yet.  They look good in the pictures though.

Got about an inch of snow last night. I guess the roads were pretty slick for the folks on the way up today. Weather turned very good and we got a fair bit of observing in today. VLBI crew should get here soon and then the fun will begin.

Time to go find dinner and a pillow.

Good evening,

Pretty nice day today.  I'm hoping I'm far enough South of Laz that we don't wake up with slippery slop on the roads tomorrow morning.

Chief, I like that link you posted to the passenger upgrade in your area.

I guess by now everyone knows there is a separate thread on York to sign up if you are meeting the gang for breakfast and going to be on hand for the picture.  Fife, didn't see you on the list yet?

Evening all not a lot going on. did by chance catch up with an old Navy buddy I haven't seen in 27 years were sending messages back and forth right now.

good to touch base with him.

train wise not much going on.

did read where they guy that supposedly inspected the train where the 6 year old died says he didn't inspect it and also the driver said he knew he was going to fast also. Sad Sad story the more you read/hear.

Hope all had a good day. i had fun today it was a day to be mischievous I guess first got on the elevator ( we have 2 main sets of elevators one set is considered service but everyone rides them the other is considered passenger) any way got on the elevator and heard this female say hold the elevator well her and (I guess) her husband got on and it was one of the service elevator and as it started to go up he asked is this the correct elevator ( I was standing with my back to the wall) I said ( in a mischievous voice) no this has the padding for us Psyche personal they laughed as knew I was kidding she even said thats good and you do it so well.  So had my fun today.

actually starting to get back to a good mood me instead of depressed me.

Have a good night all.

Good afternoon all, missed the Tim boy thing.  Must be that same guy everyone talks about back again to irritate people.  I don't go there.  Nice day today so far with sunshine.  Church mission again this morning after cold cereal and bananna plus toast.  Message today was about service to others.  "If you did it to the least of these, you did it to me".  Something to think about.

Re Archie Bunker et al on All in the Family, I used to watch it years ago.  It's probably politically incorrect by now.  At least they were an equal opportunity show.  Archie insulted everybody.  Don't like Rob Reiner's politics.  Acting was OK.  He cost me a lot of dough when I was still a smoker by starting a campaign to raise taxes on cigarettes. in California.  Extra money raised, never helped anybody.  It just went into the general fund.  Whole thing was a lie.  At least I don't smoke now, so he can stick that tax where the sun doesn't shine.SoapBox.

Good Morning

37 with rain expected later.

It's suppose to turn into a ugly mix of sleet and freezing rain overnight. The blog didn't really bother me and I've come to the conclusion that he's probably not an adult at all and the  layout he kept bumping to Pg.1 belonged to some one else. It's happen here before. I switched Chiefs grits to oatmeal and toast.

Enjoy your day...S.J.

Good morning all,

It supposed to be another beautiful day, with the exception of the winds which are gusting to 35 mph.  The high is 81.  I had oatmeal, OJ, and coffee for breakfast, and I just had a banana for a mid-morning snack.  I have the usual agenda at work and nothing too exciting planned for tonight.

Good day,

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 46 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  S'posed to rain later today.

Malcontents will come and go.  I find it amusing when they take "pot"-shots at me, and I never had uttered a word to them.  Ignore.

Chief - That Suburban you inquired about was there to pick up 2 new puppy-dogs.  Apparently our contractor is there.  And, yes, he was probably lost.

sir james I

Good Evening

50s today, never got to 60

Well I have been informed that Timboy stole my avatar picture without permission from me, along with Bob Keller's and posted slander remarks on a blog. I have not seen it but based on his Lionel bashes I'm not surprised. Banilla is waiting for the thingy...S.J

Edit:For the time being at least the blog has been removed. I have read a copy of his blog and it appears it's about one brick short of slander but he did use our pictures without permission.

Welcome to the "club".  Been there and so what.  In this case, means you have done something good.  All of us were "indicted".  Poor Bob is our pone.  Since he could not be "it", he had to cause a roar.  They come and they go.  When they go, they run of and slam us somewhere else.  Who cares.  You've got a lot of friends here.  That is what counts.  Now go get a bowl of grits and relax. Wink

Morning all.  61 degrees.  Finally cooled some.  Crazy 24 hours with temps.  Actually kept warming into the night.  Then it finally cooled.  Yankee temp raid coming later with a low of 38.  Sad  Got all the fruit trees budded out so hope no frost.  Then springs back up.   Visit CPA today.  Town Board tonight.

BTW: have pond that is a darker than Duke blue.  Put Aquashade in it.  Amazing.  Two gallons to two and one half acres.  Stuff is unbelievable.  Just spreads out and covers the pond.  Its actually used to shade out grass but does not hurt fish.  Got a large drop on one finger.  Washed it off [mostly] in pond and it made a big spot of blue in the water.

Time for grits.

PS: part of NC and SC had an earthquake!!!!  2.9  Shake and Bake would not have felt it.  It was west of us.  In Roseyville, would would have thought it was a big heavy 18 wheeler going over the big rock on the street out front.

PS PS:  NS has been a little ugly about this but looks like they have given in.  Here comes the fast train.
