Morning to All,

March madness is coming to an end as far as work goes.  Had 4 evening events in 3 days plus 3 very early mornings which resulted in four 12-14 hour days this week. Looking forward to York in about 3 weeks.

Not sure if I posted about the Train show I went to two weekends ago.  Nice medium sized show, prices seemed pretty decent. Did get to see the Lower Susquehannna Valley Model Railroaders modular units in action.  Jefelectric had sent me information and I'm on their mailing list, but with working full-time I haven't ventured into building modules yet. Maybe when I retire...

Tomorrow is a confirmation ceremony for a niece in Northern Va. so we will beheading down there. Of course that means I'll miss the NASCAR race.  ,Angry  An upside is that we'll get to see Son and his GF, plus BIL/SIL always put on a good feed after these types of events.

Well nothing else new around here. Prayers to all who need them, especially Buckeye, Char & Brutus, and those facing financial difficulties. Even in our area which is pretty well off as far as the economy goes, the number of kids being categorized as homeless due to foreclosures, etc is rising quickly.

Take care,

Mitch

Good Morning

A record low of 17 this morning, I wish I could be a good host and share this with the chief. It's going to 33 today with bright sun. Sit in your PJs, have a cup of coffee and enjoy Saturday morning...S.J.

Morning all.  Cloudy and chilly.  Suppose to spit rain and then turn into a good heavy rain.  Don't think the family fishing derby is going to do well.

I don't care who wins the NCAA basketball championship now [even though Carolina is still in it].

Buckeye, sorry for the loss [es].

LAZ, this one has a synthetic stock.  That and no semi/auto selector is the only difference in this one and the one I carried in the army.  That is why I purchased the M14.  Wanted it as close to the "real thing" as I could get without the weight of a wood stock.  200 yards is nothing.  All my scopes [.243, .22-250, .223] are zeroed at 200.  I shoot tight groups at 300 yds.  .308 M14 will shoot tight groups way past that.

traindood

Hey chief:      Curious, is that a brandy new m14 out of new old stock or a used one.  Also, got my first expert badge with the 1911 '45.  If you ran out of bullets you could use it as a club!  later.

Can't get used military ones.  They can be turned to auto fire.  Also are now back in use due to their long range shooting ability.

Still chilly and cloudy.

Sleep tight.

Howdy guys - had a headache for hours today, which is now abated.  Rain and snow and sleet all morning, but didn't stick to the roads.  It's misting now and we're due for 2 hours of snow tonight.  Had to run out for some emergency supplies - oh well, lol.

Missed John and Charlie, but had a nice chat with SJ tonight.  We were figuring out some recipes Smile

RI - glad to have your regular update back, but your other updates were very good and I feel your pain.

Prayers for our heart and hurts, for our friends and loved ones who have passed away, for healing from surgery and illness, and for absent friends.  TARDIS is ready, so let's fly guys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

 Good evening all,

I worked longer than planned today, but I was able to have dinner with the family and get the 7y/o son to baseball practice.  The wife made two homemade stromboli for dinner: one had pepperoni and mozzarella and the other one had salami and mozzarella.  The homemade marinara was on the side.  They both were outstanding.  She also made a whole bunch of cinnamon buns from scratch.  I am very blessed to be married to such an outstanding cook.  After returning from baseball practice I cleaned the kitchen and got the kids into bed.  The wife and I then watched some recorded House Hunters International episodes.

Lee F. – I don’t believe that NACA scam worked out for anyone.  I’ve only read and heard about its inability to help people.  I hope the best for you.

AF Ray – I had Duke winning it all.  I’m glad Sable is doing well.

Tomorrow, we are driving two hours to Broken Arrow, OK, which is on the outskirts of Tulsa.  My wife’s parents are moving back to OK from FL.  They have lived in Naples, FL, for about six years or so.  They moved there because my FIL was tired of cold weather.  Now that his mom and family are getting older, as is he, he wants to be closer to them.   It will be a long day helping them unload the Uhaul and trailer.

I should get some sleep now.

Joe

Good Evening

December in March, 19 tonight.

Hang in there Buckeye we had 6 deaths of relatives/friends in the first 5 months of 2010. Only 1 was older than me. None so far this year. The banilla is waiting and Brutus has the keys. Out for chili dogs tonight, almost as good as White Castle...S.J.

SURPRISE!!!!

Yeah, I'm still alive....Laugh

Jack - I've seen man's inhumanity to man first hand...ain't pretty and yes I agree...most shouldn't be allowed to drive a 2 ton weapon.  Angel for your friend.

Long weeks at work, paying off beautifully however.  Bills are lower or almost paid off.  Princess is doing ok at school, and I have purchased her tassels, cap and gown.  Miss her terribly and she's on spring break.

Fire stuff working out well, several early morning calls make the day a bit longer....but it is very rewarding.

As for the RoadRunner...well, it seems that every other thing has been more important than the next, but tomorrow and Sunday will be Mopar Weekend and I will be yanking the fuel tank out and getting that cleaned, swapping the Police wheels on to the roadrunner from the wagon as the tires are most likely flat spotted and the wagon will ....um..."round them them out".  I will also be adding some of Mobil 1's finest synthetic gear lube to my Hemi A-990 4 Speed transmission, and reattaching the Hurst Super Stock Pistol Grip linkages.

Pictures will follow...and a severe beating on the resurrected Mopar will proceed following it's initial break in.  I don't baby my baby...it's a high performance car and I treat it as such.  Trailers are for junkers....Smile, Wink & Grin (or Chevys Whistling).

Not much on the train front just yet.....ordered a set of last years Century Beer reefers from the TCA_MG on Yahoo....as I was out of work and poor when they were available.  Looking forward to getting them in the next 2 weeks.

That's all from Exit 8...Watching my Devils vs Pittsburgh...hockey season winding down...and so is our playoff hopes...

TGIF - see ya later!

Jack - Great Crib Notes on the Pot over the past weeks. How do you remember all those happenings? Your Posts take the place of reading 6 or 7 pages of posts.

The cows are behaving them selves, but it is just a matter of time. I am sure the next episode is just around the corner, probably this weekend if we get the 5 inches of snow spank is predicting!

Howdy all!  Late checkin today - about to wrap up and head home.

SNOW!!!

Yep, we're expecting up to 5 inches of snow down here in Charlottesville Saturday night to Sunday afternoon.  Unbelievable, especially considering we hit 80 last weekend.  Global Warming, my delicate patootie!

Hey RockIsland, I can't remember if you were the one who was interested, but I'm coming up on one year since my ACL reconstruction (4/13).  I'm pretty much back to 100% - playing volleyball this spring (and last fall), and able to chase Tyler and Corey through the playground with no problems.  Still making a concerted effort to work the leg at the gym so it remains strong.  And the weak link is still the hamstring on that leg, what with only having 2 hamstring tendons instead of 3.  But so far going ahead full speed with no problems.

Snow ????

whats that it was 71 today so don't know what your talking about oh heres a pic I took this afternoon of along our driveway

those are my rose bushes with buds for the roses to bloom already the last one up looks like it will be blooming in a few days thats one of the 3 I planted back about a month ago.

Jack, forgot to reply to your question about my leg pain.  Happy to report that it has gone.  I'm still on meds for about another week and then that's all I hope.  Price of milk went up I noticed on my trip to the store today.  What hasn't!

AF Ray, best wishes for your friend in recovery.

Friend of mine is still trying to figure out how to get headlight back on in my MTH F3 proto 1.  Meanwhile, I am running the dummy A and B with my proto 2 GP7 with the same road name in DCS.  Looks good and I still have a Mars light on the dummy A unit.  Been thinking about putting in a LED light with built in bridge rectifier and power directly from pick up roller.  These are available from one of the O gauge forum sponsors.

later,

Ray

Well I took Sable to the vet yesterday morning and all went fine, so far. I picked her up at 5:00 and she was still a little woozie from being out for the operation. She's on pain meds for four days and Monday we go back so they can remove the two drains she has in her and by then I should know from the results of the tumor that was sent to the labs.

Jack - What an ordeal you and your friend went through! He's lucky to have you go through it with him. These things just ruin a life for a long time.

Joe - That Duke game almost killed me as I had them in the finals. It's hard to understand how you can play two totally different halves. At least I still have Kansas in it for the championship.

Mike - I don't know how Butler pulled that out last night I think they got a little lucky.

Later

Jack,

No need to apologize for that rant.  I agree 110% that some shouldn't be on the road.  No news on the job yet.

Work was crazy today as a result of the severe storms Wednesday night that lead to a power outage until early yesterday afternoon.  When power was restored, there was a gas leak which closed the store and lead to two managers being treating for inhalation.  They're both ok, and things are getting back to normal.

Spent part of my break on the phone with Rich and Debbie, and there will be a 3562-25 gray barrel car on the way shortly.Smile

well jack it was kinda like that back befor Christmas when I sold a lot of them as I went thru what I had and say why did I ever buy this. And When did I buy this I don't remember this. LOL

Well got the pick-up sets for the PB-1 by Williams in today and mounted them so next will be coil couplers, lights and the electronics to make it all work lol. Think I need to find a set of small decals numbers ( white in color) to apply to the B-unit so I can give it a number and I can remember it so when I hook it up via tmcc I know what number to address it. I'll forget other wise lol. I also need to look to see where I want to put the run/program switch on it so when I get it all its ready to be done. Still trying to figure do I want to hook up 2 separate lights one in the front and one in the back or do I want to hook up 2 in series in the B-unit and that way its on when the unit is on. need to find 2 small pieces of flat clear plastic to put over the door windows on each end.

well thats it for now talk to you all later

Hi GUYZ again,

PHILLYREADING, prayers for you and the WIFE hope things work out for you.

CHIEF, instead of the M14 think about a Springfield Armory, SOCOM.  It is a M14, .308 Win. but has sinthetic stock.  You can get the SOCOM II that has all the rails on it too.  I have one and so does my brother.  Nice guns and shoot real good.  I was hitting good at 200 yrds with open site last year.  Here is a site for you to peruse at your leasure.

Hey phillyreading:   Just read your post, sorry for your trouble. Lots of people around here in the same fix. Across the lake from me a neigbor went belly up with three little kids. So sad.  Had to go live with parents in Fla.

On another topic:   My son-in-law told me it's the one year anniversary of Johnny Masestro's death. What a natural. Saw him in person when he first started and also near the end of his life. Sounded the same. What a set of pipes!  Whoever didn't see him in person really missed something special. Lots of good memories with him singing on the radio with me and my honey in the back seat of that old Buick. That same honey is sitting right across from me as i write this.  Great times then, great times now. Put on one of his songs and enjoy.   later.

Think good thoughts, do good deeds!

Good day,

I know it's been a while since I last posted on the coffe pot, and a lot has been going on since.

The house was re-financed with a buyout mortgage company, one that bought our loan and then told us of the details, after we filed for a hardship remodification through the government program called NACA. Now this company(LBPS from Irvine CA) acts like they want to foreclose on us after all the paperwork we went through with them. I don't understand this mortgage company and what they are trying to do.  Maybe they will understand MY attorney after I file breach of contract and sue LBPS in civil court.

The house isn't worth the money we owe on it, so the mortgage company loses and has to up-date the house electrical before it call be sold. The mortgage company will love FPL after I call FPL!

Hate to move but the mortgage company will hate it even more when they find out what all needs to be done with the house. Don't know where I can find an affordable rental property.

Also been having some problems with my legs and getting cramps at work from standing almost eight hours a day. Finally got some relief by going to see a nutritionist at my chiropracter's request.

Have three days at my job currently. Hopefully my wife don't lose any pay again this year, but the school district has been cut by 10% on their budget.

Been trying to get a 224E running again, needs an E unit, still haven't bought the E unit. Finally heard from the seller of the E unit by email today.

Lunch Time,

28 this morning and not much warmer now. At least it is not snowing.

Fife, I will double check that video link. It hits home on driving and texting including a fatality caused by someone texting the victim.

Brutus, I wish the best for Char and congrats on your talented daughter.

RI Jack, We were featured in an episode of World's Toughest Fixes on the National Geographic Channel.

I will try to make the Tardis tonight.

Good morning all, got FIOS installed yesterday.   Got a headache this morning from information overload.  Trying to digest all the new things and learn how to find things on the TV.  Internet is suppose to be a lot faster but haven't done enough on it yet to find out.  Thought I was going to get RFD channel but didn't.  Have to find out what to do to get that.  It has the railroad videos.  Also turn in the old cable boxes from Time Warner.  More rain overnight, tapering off today.

Good morning all,

It is sunny and on its way to 75 today.  Work is progressing well so far today and I should be able to leave work early.  The 7y/o son and I need to get haircuts today, and he also has baseball practice this evening.  I went for a run this morning and had oatmeal for breakfast.

RI Jack - I shredded my bracket this morning - Duke's loss last night did me in.  I'll either cheer for Mike C's Butler or VCU.

Good day,

Joe

My son took a bus down to NJ to visit one of his long time friends.  I had to have him down at the bus depot in Boston by 5:30AM.  Bang Head  He left me with explicit instructions I had to remain "on call" to pick him up at the depot upon his return.  Wasn't sure when (day, date, time) that would be.  Have been patiently sitting by the phone ever since, waiting for his call.  Whistling

Joe.....my track record on the NCAA tournament over the decades has been spot on and amazingly accurate.  All you have to do is take my picks and then select the other team. Bang Head

SJ.......I've got your weather.  High 20s here this AM and it ain't gonna reach 40 for a few days.  My last remnant snowpile will survive the weekend.  I suppose it is nearly time to add some Stabil to the snowblower gas tank and let it idle out all of the remaining fuel in the gas tank.  Was sorry to hear about your frustrations with the Docs' continued inability nail anything down for you.  Hope you are feeling better. Angel

Brutus........  Angelprayers this new script nails it down for Char.  I hope she is not discouraged.  But if she is frustrated and irritable, tell her she has our permission to take it out on you.  And  Thumbs Up on your daughter's musical talents.  May we correctly assume she didn't genetically inherit those talents from you? Laugh  Re Char's b-day gift of jewelry from you, I have to admit you are a wise man.  It is really tough trying to pick out a birthday gift on one's own for a wife.  Happy B-Day (belated) to your better half!!!  Happy B-Day

AFRay.........hope all went well with pup Sable's basal cell tumor removal yesterday and that she is resting comfortably.  Prayers for a "benign" lab test as well.  These are usually benign.

Fife......one of my buddies recently took retirement from the NH State Police force, but he is not out loafing around on his yatchet.  Doesn't even have one.  I think I should suck up to you because you do have one. Smile, Wink & Grin

Chief and Traindood.........should the rest of us be a tad bit more cautiously respectful of you two now that your combat arsenel has been revealed?

Chief.......hope you and Pam are feeling better.  She is wise to play it safe and let the doctors do their thing; and you should follow her good example.  When the crud hangs on, one has a tendency to get irrational, delusional, and surly......not that we would notice any difference in you.  Whistling

DougM......your wife and my wife must somehow be related.  My wife's last DL photo bothered her so much she wrangled with the idea of having it retaken.  Who cares about a freakin' DL photo?  Does my wife think it will get her out of a traffic ticket or something? Confused  Speaking of the movie "Groundhog Day" filming near your abode, I graduated from high school with Bill Murray.  Loyola Academy, Wilmette IL.

SubmmBob.....how are the pet skunks up the mountain doing, coming out of hibernation?  If they try to hump your leg, don't move.  Wink

MikeC........a guy your age has to take it easier.  This soccer stuff is hazzardous, and you aren't a spring chicken any more.  Big Smile

RT.......bet you are having a blast now that your carpet RR is up and running.  I can picture you diving into a sea of train boxes, pulling a few things out, and then looking stumped.  "When did I get this?  Why did I get this?"  Laugh

Northwoods.......my grandparents lived about 60 miles North of you.  The winters were brutal, with the -30 below zero temps and impressive snowfalls.  My father used to kid my grandfather that with all due respect, he lived where God lost His shoes.

Pat........it has been a while since you have posted another cow escape.  I never knew cows could be trained like dogs.  Stick out tongue  Maybe that diet of grits you have been feeding them has them too ill to escape.

JimSP......your inquiry about wood chippers/shredders reminded me about a TV investigative report I watched about a CT. man who used one to get rid of the remains his wife!!!!!  Shot the remains off the edge of his property and into a river.  He was arrested over a decade later and was convicted.

Jefelectric.......good to see you posting again.  Were you in jail or something?  Wink   If you can get your granddaughter to lay off the cell phone, let me know how you did it.  I'm shooting blanks over here.

Brent....... Happy B-Dayhappy belated birthday greetings to you.  Apologies.  My mind was elsewhere..  May we assume Susan didn't buy you any power tools this time around?  Whistling

Jon........we are facing some rather expensive house projects here as well.  I dreamed of getting my old Corvette back on the road, but the house keeps stepping in and devouring the money.

Buckeye.......just to be on the safe side, Happy B-Day again.  I figure we are now recognizing the event six times a  year.  The Federal Government should declare the date a National holiday and close down all of the federal and state offices for the day.  Parades will be next.  Bow  Re driving many miles for workand encounters with distracted drivers.......it could be worse.  Add in a wife in the co-pilot seat of your car who is the consummate back seat driver.....like mine.  Talk about distractions!!!!  Bang Head

Roy.......you must be over your crud.  The cure must have been a few bowls of 4 alarm Texas chili.  Dinner

DJ........happy belated B-day to your Tyler. Happy B-Day  8............they grow up way too fast.

RaySP.......you have not mentioned it lately, so I hope your leg is back up to snuff and that there is no hair growing on your tongue from the meds.  Stick out tongue  For me, Verizon had the lower cost bundled package including the FIOS, but Comcast had the longer initial price guarantee and a cap of $15 on the second year price increases.  Bundled = local, local LD (unlimited), LD (unlimited), digital HD cable TV, and internet.  No matter.  I am saving about $80 per month overall.  Comcast threw in 7 pay movie channels and (allegedly) increased my internet speed from 12 mps to 20.  Re your furnace running all night and living in CA.......word of advice from an expert living up in Taxachusetts: close the window. Wink

8N....... Angel your wife's knee is coming along overall.  Those replacements take months of painful R&R.  I think you should take her shopping to take her mind off of it.  Your wife will be in better physical shape than you by Halloween.  Laugh

JimmyT.......I fell way behind on the POT.  Prayers you are still in the running for that job.  Been working with my son on his resume and some sample cover letters.  He is in your boat.  Something will eventually pop for you.  Hope you are finding the time to stalk socialize with 36-24-36.  When I was your age I had no money and always went for the women that did, so that they could wine and dine me.  Laugh  That was a lonely existence for me as I never found one.....to wine and dine me, let alone establish a relationship.

Rich.....we need an update on your MOPAR progress.  Please post a pic.  Been watching all of the different auto auctions on cable recently.  A hemi Challenger went for $290K and a hemi Charger $115K.

DougDG.......with all of the train transport back and forth to/from the Museum, I hope you have a mini-van with the sliding side side doors, both sides.

LAZ..........hope all is going well with your new puppy dog Minnie.  Which reminds me, I have to go on poo patrol in the yard today.  Chief........why do you take your dogs to the groomers so often?  If you would just bathe more than just Saturday nights the dogs and the house wouldn't smell so bad.  Smile, Wink & Grin

HudsonJohn.......you must be relieved that the Winter is behind you.  I was watching a program about electric workers maintaining high voltage lines.  Dangerous stuff, and some of the guys related some of their personal experience accidents.  Re your request for prayers for your coworker's daughter Sarah, you've got them.  Makes my problems pale by comparison.

Dennis........you are not on POT probation.  You can resume posting at any time.  Laugh

Again folks.  Thank you for listening to my venting over the past few days.  Your kind words and encouragement brought me back from the depths of cynicism.

Later, gang.

Jack

Good Morning

Cold here. 23 and the robins are wearing sweaters. 35/50 is our normal for this time of year. We went out this morning for groceries, still don't feel like my old grumpy self. I really do want to go to York but something has to change for the better first. Nothing new at the train store so I shall say bye for now..S.J.
