John - Hudson#685 - Didn't get home from work until 9:00 so maybe another day. Anything I can do to keep sis off your back is fine with me. Why don't I have all my buys sent to your house and you have yours sent to mine? They aren't smart enough to figure that one out!!Smile, Wink & Grin

SJ - Happy anniversary!  Wow, 52 years, that's a long time. I'm at 32 and I thought that's a long time! As Laz would say "CONGAS!!!!"

Jack - I'm keeping Sable confined to our computer room (she's sleeping right next to me now) untill I think normal activities are ok, prob another week or so. I don't want anything opening up. If she had the run of the house she would be playing with our cat way too much.

Joe - Even though I'm out of the running I can't wait to see Saturdays game with Kentucky and UConn at my daughters (she's throwing a party for it). My only wish I could see the final game but we will be in da Bronx that night.

Laz - Please keep me up to date on your e fence.

Mike - I just read about that game. Wow, having not beaten them the pevious 20 games that's something! Still, it'll be hard to get past UConn.

Good evening all,

A rare late night post as Snohio is supposed to hit Indiana tonight and tomorrow.  Fifedog, yes, the Swiss Miss could be the next "anti Danica" for race fans.  As long as she keeps her clothes on and treats the fans nicely, she could take the place of our beloved Sarah in the hearts of fans on the racetrack.  The advantage Simona has is that she can do the twisties well.

On another unrelated topic, has anybody heard anything about MTH possibly reviving the Tinplate Tradition line with some more Ives and Dorfan re-issues?   One conversation I had with a MTH official indicated some Ives 1770 series at some point in the vague future.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening

It made 40s today, still less than the average.

We had a nice meal at Applebees this afternoon, that's what granny wanted for 52 years stuck with me. I thumbed the Mags I haven't read and the OGRs will probably go fast but I saw some stuff in CTT I want to spend some time with. Banilla will be ready for the thingy so come on by...S.J.

88 You going to pull and RT and sell old unwanted well wait till mid April as E-Bay is going to free listing then so then you can list for whatever price and not worried about selling for less than what its worth. there also going to where what you quote for the shipping is going to be part of the final evaluation price so these guys that list for .99 and shipping $50 are going to pay it either  way now . This is basically to hope get realistic shipping cost and selling prices on items.

evening all well now the wife wants to put the plants back out lol.

Yes the forum had problems last night sometimes it would craw ( almost in reverse lol) and other times it was just kinda slow.

Well had a nice day here it got up to 65 so that wasn't bad.

Hope all had a good tuesday mine was okay.

Lunch Time,

Busy but a good morning.

Mike, did you ever notice when the purchasing agent needs something for himself, he gets the top of the line asap, instead of the cheapest and slow shipping.

88, You have us all in suspense.

AF53, Don't forget your package. I will be home tonight.

SJ, Glad you are feeling better. I had a brain scan and the doc told me that my brain was like new. never used. WhistlingTo quote Curly Howard, "I try to think and nothing happens." I am eating banilla right now. My wife sent a bucket for the guys today.

Back to work, have a great day,

Good morning all,

I tried to post last night, but the site was moving very slowly for me.  It's a bit rainy today and on the chilly side.  I believe it's supposed to start warming back up tomorrow.  I have paperwork to finish today at work and nothing exciting planned.  I had cinnamon rolls and coffee for breakfast.

steveo - I will be at the Bixby show; however, I'm not on the time yet.  We will be going to Broken Arrow on Friday and spending the night with my wife's parents.  I would like to go early, but I know sometimes the best deals are right before they close up shop.  For instance when I was at the Stillwater show, about 30 minutes prior to closing one guy started selling all his Plasticville buildings for $1 each.  They were already built and needed some serious cleaning, but if you enjoy Plasticville that's a great price.

AF Ray - Yes, it has been a great tournament.  I believe I read something today about its ratings being the highest ever.

88 - I can't wait to see what you bought.  You're building quite the suspense.

SJ - It must be all the banilla that made your brain perfect.

Good day,

Joe

Running a bit behind this AM so this will be short (for me) Smile, Wink & Grin.

POT was acting up for me last night so I couldn't post.  Gave up and went to bed.  Working beautifully this morning.  Other web sites I visit were all working normally last night, so I guess it was just a CTT thing.

Clear but cold is still the order of the day here in New England with some precipitation approaching from points West.  Spent some time doing some Spring cleanup in the back yard yesterday, much more to do.  DougM and I will be dropping that first coat of fertilizer and limestone shortly.  Those of us with dogs know that it is necessary to lawn-fertilize your way out of the bare and thin spots to avoid a veritable dirt and mud pit between now and Fall..  If my eyes don't deceive me, the grass is showing an ever so slight change of color to green, but one snowbank remains in the back off the deck.  Annuals have poked up out of the ground, but it will still be 2-3 weeks before we have buds.

Read an interesting article about gasoline saving tips.  All of the usual stuff but with one addition.  The expert recommended a few things as it pertains to ambient temperatures, your car's gas tank fuel level,  for the gas station fuel storage tanks, and the concept of gasoline evaporation.  The article pointed out that it is best to fuel up early in the morning when the temperatures are cooler, don't let your vehicle's fuel tank get below half full, and never top off the tank.  The article went on to point out you are paying for fuel you are not getting as measured by the gas station pump, and fuel evaporation and venting occurs faster as the fuel level in the vehicle's gas tank drops.  Although these evaporation, density, and pump discrepancies have never been scientifically measured and reported for passenger vehicles and trucks, the article pointed out that there is a practical reason why those humongous gasoline storage tanks the oil companies build contain an internal cap that rises and falls (floats) with the surface level of the gas stored: to avoid significant evaporation and fuel loss.  Some trucks have these same internal-to-the-fuel tank cap mechanisms for the same reason.  But passenger vehicles do not because of all of the different automotive gas tank shapes and the costs to modify them.  If the oil companies see these things as significant factors in their profitability, so should we see them as a dent to our pocketbooks.

SJ.......glad you are feeling better because your wifey is probably compiling her outside in the yard ''honey do" list of Spring projects as we speak. Laugh

Lee.......prayers continue for successful "negotiations."  hang in there, buddy.

Brutus.....nice haul!!!!!  Thumbs Up  You deserve it.

AF Ray........hope you are able to keep a lid on pup Sable until the incision healing is far enough along.  My dogs (post op) always return to their wilder side long before it is safe for them to do so.  Had one that had anterior cruciate ligament repair, and we had to keep her on leash fer seberal weeks until the vet gave us the green light healing wise to let her loose.  Am glad the lab tests came out negative too.  No matter what you read or what others advise, there is always that element of uncertainty until those test results come back in.  These basal cell tumors can return in time, sometimes in the same place.  Nothing that $ can't fix. Bang Head

Laz........glad to hear Minnie is enjoying the freedom she has with the new pet containment system for the yard, and it is working out exactly as advertised.  I love it when I actually read the instructions and just do exactly what it tells me to do......and it works!  Every once in a great while my dogs will hear the audible warning and then get to thinking "I wonder if the system is still working."  They test/challenge it.  There is a yipe and they run back to the safety of the yard.  Then they look at me as if to report "Yup, the system is still working, Dad."  My pups always start each trip outside by checking with their noses whether a foreign invader has violated the sanctity of their turf.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Brent......somehow the name "Fife" and the term "conventional" don't seem to go together in my mind.  Whistling

8n........I agree with you.  The return to social normalcy and routine is just as important as the physical stuff, and this R and R is going to take the wifey months.  Hope she doesn't get too impatient in the interim, but who could blame her?  My wife would have scheduled so many pit stops to stretch her sea legs (translation: shop, even if it is just a gas/rest plaza) that it would take me eons to get where we were going.

I feel bad for all of the Southern boys who are hauling plants in and out, and covering others, just to protect them against the cold.  We don't have that problem up here in the Nawth.  We just buy and plant and let nature take its course.

Recent comments from the Left Coast as it pertains to possible "'cold" weather at York leave me disappointed in you.  April weather in York is NOT cold, it is just a tad brisk.  My wife, who is arguably a nationally ranked top "cold baby," is tougher than yuz guyz. Big Smile

Later, gang.

Aloha. Cold and grey for my first class tonight. Overslept for some reason - just in time to hear from my boss in London about how her tech isn't working. Lots I can do about that from Chicago. Tongue Tied  I'll figure it out - feel like I'll be playing catch-up all day. Kudos to Brent for working out the kinks behindthat beautiful train for Brutus. Enjoy it!!

Of course you have the perfect brain, SJ. Everyone knows that. Wink

8n, the grain hoppers are seasonal cars - they're stored everywhere in IL for next harvest time. The tankers are probably surplus to need right now. Not sure what museum you saw - there's one in Monticello and Union.

Good morning

28 with sun, gonna soar to 44 today.

Brutus nice train, I think Brent did the footwork and Charlie helped organize the event. If I'm wrong doesn't matter you finally got the train. Oh on running the trains while I was not feeling good, just the noise without sounds did crazy things in my head. But after all those test the doctor said I had a perfect brain Big Smile They just don't know what happened to it.  lol.

88 - So, whatcha buy?

BTW....I'm a CONVENTIONAL kinda guy.

It is Top Secret right now... according to the shop owner it has been sitting in his shop for 3 years under glass... so we'll see what it looks like when it arrives. Hint - we saw them at the October York show in 2008 in the Brown Hall running on an O72 FasTrack loop on the floor. I didn't get them because I didn't have the $$$ at the time and almost bought the MTH version at the April 2009 show.

And yes I know you're a conventional kinda guy. Wink

Mornin' Fellas!

Brutus - as Laz said ENJOY! Looks really cool.

Did one of my web searches last night, one I've had saved for a few years... well it finally returned a store with the item I've been searching for... UGH! Like I need another engine! Oh well, guess it is time to pull an RT and start cleaning shop. Maybe I'll unload some of the conventional engines I've been planning to upgrade to TMCC...

Did see the new Lionel TMCC B&O 4-4-2 Atlantic at the LTS on Saturday. VERY nicely detailed engine. Problem is it is TMCC and not Legacy. Had it for $449? I think. Said he'll be getting the Legacy version in sometime in August or September... then I asked 2011, 2012, or 2013? Big Smile That started quite the conversation! LOL! I did notice that Lionel has cancelled all of the FA-2s except for the B&O. That is strange... but it doesn't look like I'll need them due to yesterday's purchase.

Brutus - Doin' nice things for nice folks.  Brent deserves the lion-share of the kudos.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s.  Hudson#685, your story on the purchasing agent brings back many memories of my days in the plant.  There were many struggles over what was right versus what was cheap.  Best example was refusal of company to buy rubber mats for plant entrances so people would not slip on slick floors.  They were lucky they never got sued.  Took the truck to a prospective buyer last night and the people who looked at the house are still interested in it.  I see where another Indiana team will be playing in a NCAA Final Four as Notre Dame upset Tennessee.  Those games will be played in Hoosierland by the way.  I had bran muffins on the dining car before sending it to "Points East".  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Just got back from a trip to Michigan.  My wife's dad turned 75, her grandfather 98.  Fun part was they did not know we were going to be there.  It is fun surprizing people like that.  Visited with my mother and our oldest son and his wife along the way too.

Traveling was hard on my wife's knee.  5 days without P.T. probably didn't help too much either, but the trip was good 'social therapy'.  Took an extra day of travel each way over what we usualy do, as too much sitting is hard on her knee.  Nice trip, but not really relaxing.

I noticed a couple of long strings of tank cars in Ill. sitting on sidings while we were driving - probably about 1 1/2 miles if they were all strung together.  I always wonder about things like this.  Seasonal storage of empties?  Storage of full cars?  Result of the slow economey?  Somebody bought a bunch of molassis futures and forgot to sell them?

Also, there is what appears to be some sort of a rail museum on the south side of I-72 just west of Champain, Ill.  Anybody know anything about this?

AF53 - Yup, I did have a birthday recently.  I had ordered the Texan set months ago.  The timing of the arrival was a happy coincedence, arriving about a week after my birthday.  Kind of a pick-me-up, as celebration of my birthday kind of got lost with my wife's recovery and the crazyness at work recently.

Back to work tomorrow to keep SS solvent so the likes of Chief won't get rubber checks.
