Good TGIF Afternoon To Ya'll,

RaySP.......thanks for the compliment, but I find the more I learn about dogs and training my own pup the less I seem to know.  I feel bad for your next door neighbor and I don't even know him.  He is between a rock and a hard place with his dogs.  I don't know how I could handle losing three of them.  It is sad.

DonB......that fishing video was a hoot!  Thanks for the link. Thumbs Up

Traindood.......I simply could not stop laughing and shaking my head at your plumbing and heating plant escapades.  One certainly has to be a McGyver in a pinch when owning a home.  I remember one of my kids stripping the hot water handle in the first floor bathroom, about an hour before the entire fam damily showed up for Christmas dinner.  Had to turn off the water using vice grips.  No matter how tight I tried to tighten the set screw on the handle, the serrations on the stem were stripped and the handle would just spin.  The wife was hysterical.  But you should have seen the look on her face when she came back into the bathroom 15 minutes later and saw me wrapping the stem with masking tape, covering it with super glue, and finally jamming the handle back down on the stem.  That sucker worked perfectly that evening and until we moved out several years later, but I'll bet the subsequent owners had quite the time getting that handle off!  Smile, Wink & Grin

SubmmBob.........I can recall yesteryear when amongst my friends the British sports cars were the rage, and the local mechanics were fat and happy with business.  Austin Healy Sprites and 3000s, the Triumph TRs and Spitfires, and the MG Midgets and Bs.  I learned to drive a stick on a buddy's Sprite.

JimSP......we miss you, buddy.  Hope all is well with you on the home and train fronts.

HudsonJohn........with MA. drivers on the streets, I would never get into one of those service buckets.  Those guys are brave!  Need to wear a parachute.  Blindfold

SJ..........you are going to trust Charlie to bring back your scale Berk? Laugh

MikeC.....good luck with the sifting of the keepsakes with family this weekend.  Keep a cool head and do your best.  Emotions may be flying high and rationale thought may be missing.

Later, gang.

Jack

Good afternoon all,

I'm just about finished my lunch break.  The day started of warm and the high was supposed to be in the mid-60s; however, the winds have picked up and shifted and it does feel a bit nippy out there.  I am hoping to leave work early today so my 7y/o son can accomplish some hitting practice.  He has his first machine-pitch baseball tournament this weekend.  He is excited, but he has never faced a machine in a real game.

We have plans for a family game night tonight.  I will grill Turkish-style chicken skewers for dinner tonight, and the wife will make couscous.  I had some train time with the baby last night and I'm hoping for more tonight.

Traindood - I enjoyed your adventures in plumbing and heating story.  My wife would have demanded I find a plumber once I mentioned saran wrap.

Question for all: What can I use to keep people in place on the layout, but not permanently?  I will want to move them.  Is there a putty or wax substance that will work well?

Good day,

Joe

Another quiet morning here at the 'scope. Open and observing. Should have some decent weather thru the weekend.

Don - I liked the fishing video. I especially liked the scene w/ the trolling motor.

Hope everyone has a good Friday!

Lunch time,

Quiet Morning. I am lucky that I missed getting on the accident investigation committee for the digger incident. It is being treated as a near fatality eventhough no one was injured. It all comes down to not being focused on the task at hand. It could have been a fatality.

Doug, thanks for sharing about the Great Grits Caper.

Morning all!

Working from home today so Mrs and I can go to lunch together. I have a business trip that will take me out of town all next week - ugh!

Cloudy here and maybe some showers tomorrow. We need the rain. At least we are not having to wear any heavy coats now.

Been pretty tired lately. Still suffering from being ill last week.

Fife - just counting the days to boating weather here. I hear it is great sailing in the NC and Ohizo areas due to lot's of wind!

Have a great day all!

Good Morning from Central Jersey,

Fife, My wife and niece ate at the Rusty Scupper last night. They said it was great. I talk to my wife at 9:45 last night and the 2 of them were going out. they seem to be having a good time. Thanks.

Pat, It was a tandem axle digger/derrick. they were in a switch station and ran into live 69kv. They blew out 7 of the 10 tires and the unit has to be totally disassembled and checked for damage as per the manufacturer.

Time to get ready for the safey huddle. I wonder what the topic is for today?

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Good evening fellas and gals:     Been away for awhile but her goes;   Jr. calls me up friday last and says, "My sewer pipe is leaking! now what"?   So I goes over and sure enough it's leaking like a sieve!   On a late friday nite just try to get a plumber. I did the only thing a red blooded American could do; I swallowed hard and said:   "Jr., get me the saran wrap"!   Well let me tell you, it was touch and go for a bit, then suddenly the waste water(P U)  stopped. Gloating with my success, i just beamed with pride:  just then the oil burner crapped out!  Holy moly gondoly!!  Now what? Dug in again. This garl durned burner aint'a gonna git me!  I exclaimed with renewed fury!  Checked it out and yes you guessed it, the nozzel was clogged. Cleaned it out with a dress pin and presto were in business!    Ever the resourceful and wise father, secretly patting myself on the back, i said "You still got it, you old dog"!  Upon leaving #1 son asked me if i parked in the hole the township was fixing before the snow came, car looks  kinda lopsided?  YIKES!  Sure enough, the front tire was flatter than a june bug on a wind shield!  Only proves one thing, no good deed goes unpunished!   Humbled once again! later.

Bundle up, fix an adult drink and get in some deck time. it works!

Good Morning

A tiny bit of freezing rain just at rush hour turned the freeways into bumper car paradise. I stayed snuggled in bed with coffee, the TV news and the paper. Charlies picking up my scale Berk to run on Sunday at our last big train show of the season.....S.J.

Aloha all. TGIF! Got up at 4 am to fix a leaking gutter that sounded like an echo chamber right next to the bedroom - but I'll take it over snow! Still suffering from the consequences of upgrading to Windows 7 at work. Jack, the CPD chief was not loved. Resigned on the very day his contract was up. Wasn't going to be kept. I liked him but he was ever the outsider (ex FBI) to the troops.  Fife, are you sure you don't live in Illinois? Pat, glad you're keeping the martini hand warm. John, glad those workers were OK. Lost a friend who was training with ComEd three years ago today who made a mistake with high voltage.

Doug, thanks!

Good morning all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana with temps near 60 today.  Appraisals are done on dad's house.  Kids will be here this weekend to go thru "stuff".  Could be interesting.  Hudson#685, do not worry about me overdoing it with soccer.  I play about 75-80% speed as I do not want to get hurt or hurt any of the kids.  Any collision between them and me is not going to hurt me.  I always tell them it is not personal, it is just physics.  However, there have been some times when a well placed (or perhaps misplaced) ball has done some serious damage as well as some occasional foot stompings.  Now when my summer season starts with the league, that is another matter.  Then it is full tilt.  Worked on various items last night.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime and I can definitely drive.  Hang to your hats though as the loop-de-loops and barrel rolls will be out in full force.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Sunny and 60 today.  Supposed to get colder and have snow flurries over the weekend.

Work is getting crazy again.  Looks like I'll be in the plant over the weekend. Will be a tough time balancing the extra needs at home and the extra needs at work over the next week to 10 days.

Never give up, never surrender!  Things will work out somehow.

Okay Dennis I hear you. And when I went to work was hoping I could of worked ( its one of our assignments) in the pots and pans washing area. But now looking back on it that wouldn't of made sense either as I could still affect fellow workers plus yeah the pots and pans would be fine when they came out of the machine till I touch them. Doug, tell us about the Great Grits Caper.

Evenin' All.

Tried finding the photos & fun comments, had to search couldn't remember when, but my eyes got a bit crossed. If memory serves me correctly Chief and the York attendees gathered for breakfast but a certain "Southern Prankster" had arranged for all to be served a generous helping of grits that morning. Cooked Southern Style of course. Smile, Wink & Grin

All packed and staged for tomorrow's museum run. Taking a long string of woodside reefers and my D&H Challenger and a C-420 to alternate runtime.

Later all.
