Good evening all,
We had an Irish-style dinner tonight in honor of St Patty's Day. I know it's a week early, but the property management contractor paid for the food down at the club house. I had some corn beef and cabbage that was quite tasty. Afterwards, the wife and I read with the kids. Once they were asleep, she and I watched one episode of House Hunter's International.
I had a brief chat with SJ and Brutus and now it is time for bed. I did not run trains tonight and I am having withdrawals. I considered running them last night when I was up with the baby for an hour, but I did not want to wake anyone else or keep the baby awake longer than he needed to be.
Good night,Joe
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps reaching the 40s. Lots of activity in downtown Indy with the Big 10 Men's tourney and some political gatherings. Things would be so much smoother if they just thought about the upcoming Indy 500. Seems like fan reaction to Indycar using the "lucky dog" rule was rather vehement. Now if they can change their minds about the start as well, life will be better. For once, did not do much with the estate last night. Hopefully will have a lot resolved by this weekend. Work went surprisingly well yesterday. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C.from Indiana

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is 30 degrees. About an inch of snow on the ground. Going up to 34 today with more snow on the way. This weather is crazy.
Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and then I will relax. Indians game on TV this afternoon.
Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.
Buckeye & LAZ.... TGIF
Y'all have a great Friday.

Morning guys - reclinerized last night after reading the pot and never got to post before my wife sent me to bed! Nice chat, Joe - sorry it was so late and everyone was going. Nothing going on lately. Wife called about cable tv/internet/phone contract. Our old one was running out, so she called and went through line by line to see what we wanted and the pricing. It turns out we have been paying $5 a month for a modem that we could have purchased outright years ago. We think we've paid over $500 for this thing! Oh well, live and learn. The newer ones are faster and since they have made some changes to the service, it sounds like this might be the reason we have had a lot of internet disconnects in the past few months. Soooo - I will be taking the old one to a local place and exchanging/purchasing a new one. She also dumped a lot of movie channels we never watch, saving us about a total of $40 a month in all (once the modem problem is taken care of).
Tardis ride last night was fun! I got confused when I thought we were landing at Don's house, but apparently we were in NC somewhere?
Okay - time to make the donuts. Be good, guys!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Aloha all. So sad for the Japanese earthquake victims. A whole train was said to be swept away near Sendai. TGIF here. Finally solved our computer issues related to our data conversions to date. Sunny but cold.

Good Morning
32 and cloudy, going to 39.
Just enough snow to cover the grass, old man winter just won't quit this year. Pleasant chat with newcomer to the chat, Joe, along with Brutus and Charlie, RT baled early as he had to work today, eggs hash browns and 1/2 a bagel for breakfast...S.J.

Greetings and Felicitations from Rainy Taxachussetts,
Snow melt and rain continues, several counties under flood warnings......except mine. Go figure. I'll take it. Lady across the street is pumping out her swimming pool but in the illegal way.......to the street drains that flow into the pond which is full. Prayers for youse guyz experiencing the same. DonB, DougDG, and RaySP must be in their speedos and at the CA beaches getting ready for some surfing......due to that 8.9 earthquake and the aftershocks in Japan. It is pretty bad. News said their auto and electronics industries might be shut down. With Toyota already under fire and now with this earthquake, the U.S. automakers better be ready to grab some market share.
Thank you all for your support regarding my incessant posts on dog matters.
LAZ.......put water wings on the pup, Minnie, and move the beer stocks to higher ground.
HudsonJohn........you may have to don the scuba gear for work today.
MikeC......hang in there, buddy. Prayers. This estate process will take a longer time than you may think. Then there are the aftershocks.
AF......hang in there with Sable, buddy. Will be saying a prayer for a relatively benign diagnosis this coming week.
Joe......thanks for reminding me about St. Patrick's Day. "Inventory" levels are dangerously low.
JimSP.......don't try to catch up on the POT. That isn't possible. Just jump aboard when you can. You are missed.
RaySP......homemade sgetti, yum yum. A salad and some garlic bread and you are all set. My dog loves pasta noodles.
Brent......I read with horror your post about the upcoming softball season. I hope Susan does not allow you to participate. Baseball bats and fast-moving balls are involved, possible collisions and blown out knees, and we don't need you back on the injured reserve list yet again.
Chuck.......your driveway saga reminded me of that 1955 song by Tennessee Earnie Ford, "Sixteen Tons." Except you now have 190 tons into your driveway!
Fife......great pictures of the hopefully before and after. Join the club. I could stand to lose 30 myself. The only advantage is that I cannot drown because I am always wearing my flotation device, permanently affixed to my waistline.
Traindood.......looked it up on Mapquest yesterday. Roseyville is about 180 miles due East of Hickory NC. Chief can pick you up in his executive helicopter.
Later, gang. Stay dry!!!!!!!!!
Jack.

It's sunny and heading towards a high of 74 for today. I have the usual Friday workload ahead of me and I plan to leave at a decent time this afternoon. I had some cereal and coffee for breakfast. The earthquake and tsunami were devastating to Japan. I'm waiting to see how Hawaii fairs. Let's keep all these people in our prayers today.
Brutus - I suppose you can add the cable savings to the train budget.
Good day,
Joe
Buckeye Riveter TGIF Don Baker..... HEAD TO HIGH GROUND!!!!!!
Thanks for the warning, but don't think it will amount to much when it arrives here. We have a concrete lined river channel in the back. It is probably 7 or 8 miles downstream to the ocean. Our relative elevation here is about 40 feet. But information coming out of Hawaii is not bad, (yet anyway). The beaches that are closest to us are south facing beaches, and the affects of a tsunami will be directed more toward the west facing beaches.
Can't believe what Japan is going through, that has got to be crazy, right now! And I have heard on the news they have had over 90, 5.0 quakes since! Need to call my brother, and see if he has heard from my nephew. He is stationed in Japan with his wife and 8 mos old son.
Prayers and thought for all those affected.
Don
The video on CNN and Fox websites of the damage in Japan are unbelievable. The aftershocks are strong earthquakes, too.
Don B better wrap the good china, hope those quakes don't start here. The quakes, fires and water, japan's taking a beating.
These folks in Japan need our prayers. The reports have gotten worse by the hour.
Good Evening from Wet Jersey,
The flooding is bad in North Jersey but it is nothing compared to Japan. The rivers have not crested yet and they predict that they will crest Saturday night. I have been working OT and no train running the past couple of days.
Trindood, Expect a couple of visitors later this year. Yesterday I was in Oakland. Too far from the Tick Tock.
SP Man, Ray, I had AF53's homemade spagehetti. It is good.
Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
Time for dinner,
John
Afternoon to all and hope your doing well and running trains. I dont get on Coffee much but wanted to ask Demay if he knows when the next Tulsa train show is? See Bixby is 2 of April.
Thanks
Good afternoon all, First of all, prayers for the people in Japan. Watched the tsunami roll in last night on TV. I have never seen such rapid devastation. So far no problem here in Southern California. We are several hundred feet above sea level where I live and at least 40 miles or more to the ocean.
AF53 et al, just kidding about the homemade spagetti. We do make our own version occasionlly. I like it with bell pepper, onions and mushrooms in the sauce. Along with some good french bread and a homemade salad. Yum yum.
Well, we finally had an irregular meeting of our Thursday night group last night. There are only four of us left. Ran a bunch of Williams engines for a change last night. We had a 5 unit lashup on a long freight with two powered and three dummies not counting the operator. No wrecks! A miracle! One member brought over a Marx freight set he picked up in an auction recently. It looked like new. It was just a plastic diesel set but very pristine. Engine was an orange colored 6 axle unit which was suppose to be an E7 I think with about 6 freight cars including caboose. After a little clean up, it ran great. Showed off my new stationary toy live steam engine last night also.
After some girl scout cookies and punch, we listened to a little music from the High Sierra Jazz Band recorded on their tour to Hungary some years ago.
Our #2 live in son is off on another trip this weekend to Stockton, California for "Winter Rail , a get together of railfans who share their photos at shows.
Dinner out with friends tonight.
Don and Doug, let me know if you see any water coming.

Good Evening
It got to 44 today and a lot of last nights snow is gone. No breaking news so I will just wait with the banilla for Brutus and the thingy,,,S.J.
Think good thoughts, do good deeds!
Good Friday Evening guys...
Long week of work, going in for a short bit tomorrow, but the payoff is the paycheck every Friday. My new abode purchase is looking better and better and by late April I should be looking for real, It aint gonna be mcuh but it will be mine and that will be my first home.
I will miss York this Spring, but I will be attending in October...mark it on your calendar!
Sunday I'll be getting to work on the convertible, delayed from last week, but will happen this Sunday.
Got an e-mail from my niece in Okinawa, my brother and his family are ok, no incidents down there.
Like my Jersey bretheren have said, been water logged and flooding. My buddy is in Bound Brook and they dodged a big bullet as the Raritan River hasn't gotten to his house THIS time. He's been flooded out 4 times in the last 7 years I think.
I haven't read all the posts but I gather that John's pooch Sable has passed on... I understand that kind of pain...
OK, I've had my salad and Mac n Cheese (meatless Fridays for Lent), and I think I'm going to lay in bed and listen to my NJ Devils game against the Atlanta.
Have a good night Guys!
I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.I am the venom in your skin --- Breaking Benjamin
Evenin' boys. Spent all afternoon flipping from CNN to HLN to FOX to Weather Channel. Incredible.
Took family to Steak House to celebrate#2 princess finishing her EMT class. Needs a little remedial with BP.
Parade tomorrow. Have to put on my polite grin face when I see the politicos that want to raise my gas tax, raise my car fees, raise electric rates by forcing green initiatives, tuition for illegals, and oh, the all important civil union.
Evening all,
Kids in bed. Place cleaned up. Getting ready to read a bit and chill. Prayers for the earthquake victims. This evening my bride went to Mass and I fed the kids and then the kids and I went to Eucharistic Adoration and Station of the Cross. I was really proud of how well the kids behaved, singing and praying their little hearts out.
The Ohio river is quite high right now. Although we live only a few hundred yards from the Ohio, we are well above even the highest water level. Hopefully the rain will subside for a bit.
Good night and may God bless
JIm
HI GUYZ,
Ran trains tonite for 2 hrs, NO PILE UPs great nite had a few and felt good. Prayers for those peoples in Japan.
I got a RANT, sorry for this but here it goes. We lost in a fire, in nearby Perry County, 7 children ages 7 months to 11 years old. Here's the story
http://www.fox43.com/news/wpmt-amnews-perryco-fatal-fire,0,3362155.story
This is what saddens me, the group of people that call themselves Christians, the ones that won the Supreme Court decision to protest at military funerals, now is going to set up a protest at the funeral of these 7 children that are to be burried on Tuesday. Why they are going to protest only the LORD knows. I can not figure this group out. They say they are doing what GOD wants yet they don't know really what's going on. These people here in Perry County are not going to take this thing lightly. Hope it does and doesn't get out of hand, but these people are just a bunch of LOOSERS in every sence of the word. I think they want all this PR to spread their misguided word but isn't going to happen someone is going to make a stand against them and it won't be a civil one. WHY? Let this remainder of what is left of the family greive in peace.
Sorry for this rant but I just had to get this off my chest. This tradgidy just hit me very hard. I look at my kids in school everyday and to see one gone would be hard but seven in the same family?
Good evening guys. Been a long week. Doing a lot of long cases and have a ton of paperwork to get done. We are taking the kids to Athens Georgia for the Women's Gymnastics of UGA vs Michigan. Should be a good time. Real sad about the folks in Japan. Also have heard about the flooding in NJ. When I lived up that way, Wayne was always getting hit. From what I understand, it is much more widespread.
Jack, the only time I recall a government project that was completed on time and under budget was when the bridge in Oakland California came down with the earthquake. The government told the contractors if they finished early, they would make more money...they finished early and it actually saved the taxpayers money when compared to what was expected to complete it.
Time for bed. Will continue with prayers for several folks here. God Bless,Dennis

Laz - I think that one day Jesus will say to the people from that church "I never knew you". And they will get their reward for this pain they are causing. Did the SCOTUS say that people can't block them and put up sheets and stuff to hide them?
Prayers for those in Japan. I didn't read or hear about this until late in the morning for some reason. Saw it on FB on my phone. Man - what a shock!
Nice chats with SJ and Charlie. Tonight after work, we went to Ruby Tuesday and I had a nice steak and some grilled veggies. I'm still full and that was 5 hours ago!
Tardis is ready to fly and I see a lot of beacons on the screen, so let's get this show on the road!
Fife,
I definitely couldn't do the job you do. In that parade situation, I'd get myself in big trouble.
Laz,
Right behind you on that. See my reply to Fife ^ to get an idea of how I feel about those individuals.
I mentioned Wednesday that I hadn't hadn't heard from the place that I took my resume and application to a few weeks back. While I was in the middle of playing Tomb Raider 2 Thursday morning, I got a call from them. Interview Tuesday at 2PM. Hopefully this is it.
Continued with the 481-491 diesel roar swap tonight I was all set to mount the speaker strap to the 491 chasis, but I couldn't find the rivet gun. I'll look again tomorrow. I'll probably sell the 481 for parts when I am done to try and get some of the $140 back out of it.
I am with you 100%. Those protests are going to cause additional loss of life.. they are going to protest the wrong funeral one of these days if you follow me......

Laz....Read your rant. Where do they get the money to travel far and wide? In other words, follow the money. Somebody is funding these idiots.
