Good Day All !!

Had a very relaxing weekend for a change.  Been a little cold here, only up to 57 Sat & Sun..  Had rain Fri and Sat nights.  Was able to watch the race on Sunday.  It was great to see the Woods Brothers win, a truly Cinderalla story.

Do very many of you guys have a wire list for your layout.  Its surprising how much wiring goes into it until you set down and start identifying.  The layout I'm working on has over 470 wires involved.  And the Control Panel really accounts for a lot.

Not much other news going on here, got most of the stuff working right again, cars and computers.

Don't want to be left out, so need to make sure got the Birthday wishes off for Buckeye.

Aloha from a grey, cold and windy Chicago.  Condolences to you, Mike.  The bride hosted a shower yesterday for a friend who just adopted a little girl from a Filipino orphanage so the house of full of little girls. I took the boys to the Car Museum in Volo but when we got back, everyone was still there and eager to run the trains - which we did for the next few hours, blowing lots of whistles and horns.

Dennis, would the music you heard be The Planets, Op. 32, a 7 movement orchestral suite by an English composer Gustave Holst? I love it.  SJ, missed your snow. Should get a few inches overnight to send to Points East I think...

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore,

38, showers, temp to drop tonight and snow but only an inch or so. It is that "or so" that we have to watch out for.

Off today. My son and I are heading to a fairly new train shop where we have never been before. We met the owner at a show and we are heading out soon.

Fife, My wife and I thank you for the info. She is going to talk with my niece, Meghan and get all of the particulars.

Mike C, Continued Prayers and Thoughts.

Everyone enjoy Presidents Day,

John

Quiet morning at the 'scope. Still not good enough weather for the high frequency receiver, but the replacement compressor for the lower frequency should be coming up today. 2nd floor heater went out (not a good time of year for that) so I'll have to call the HVAC guys today.

Brent - nice work on the bridge!

Mike - continued thoughts and prayers

Chief - glad it made it ok and your welcome!

Hope everyone has a good week!

21 won!  How cool was that? Yes  Watched it on dvr after coming home from weekend get-away with wifey in WV.  Not a whole lotta of trainspotting, but did catch a 3-pack of BNSF engines (Grinstein green-War Bonnet-Heritage) leaving Cumberland.

Hudson - Court Yard/ Marriott in HuntValley.  They can take the light-rail into Baltimore (45 min ride). Far safer and not as expensive as staying downtown.

sir james I

Good Evening

February is back, we are really getting dumped on. Looks like 8/10 inches of snow before it's over. We have 2 grandsons here as there is no school tomorrow and grannys not going out in this mess. Got banilla though if Brutus can find us in this storm.

S.J.

Sure is, not going below freezing tonight. Whistling

Good night all.  We went to the lake house.  All was great.  Added insulation in attic must be doing its job.  Propane usage is down and yet warm inside when we got there.  Hit thermostat and in a few, it reach 69 degrees.  Keep it on 54 during winter when we are not there.  Inside temp was already above that when we got there.  Had a few more leaves to burn but couldn't as too dry and windy.  Wifey, dogs and self wanted to stay.  Busy day tomorrow.  Meetings from 11 AM to 9 PM.  Wifey not off but all her Fed co-workers are.

Sleep tight.  [if you live in Buckeyeville, don't let the bed bugs bite]

Just got on the computer at 10 in time to say hi to SJ, Charlie and RT.  Last night the forum was down when I tried it, so didn't find out until just a while ago.  Prayers and more prayers.

Good evening all,

It was a cloudy day in SE Indiana.  I do believe I heard train whistles from all over the country today.  Thank you all.  It was quite a busy day today.  Got a lot done with funeral preparations.  Maneuver Roger Tango Foxtrot went off with only a few minor changes in plans as all concerned were transported back to their home bases safely.  Was glad to see No. 21 win today.  It was 39 or 40 years ago that AJ won at Daytona driving the same No. 21.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL anytime and I can drive again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening everyone.  Back from evening church services.  Service was very good, but also know that our pastor has a heavy heart as a good friend of his, who was a pastor of a church in Oklahoma was killed last week in a motorcycle accident and our pastor is going to do the service for his funeral.

Mike, I am sorry to hear about your Dad.  A very hard thing to deal with.  I will pray for the comfort of God to you and your family.  For those who believe, absent from the body, present with the Lord.

Jon, had a really neat thing last night.  We had a astronaut come to town and they had a special with the local symphony.  It was representative of the solar system with different pieces for the different planets, ie: Mars with a "war theme", etc.   They had a fun video that went with it as if you were soaring around the solar system with some animation and some actual film from some of the NASA missions.

Hope to check in before too long.
God Bless,

Dennis

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,

Mike C, Continued prayers for your Dad, you and the family. Blew the whistle on my Hudson 685 long and loud.

Jim, GP, Hang in there, I hope that you hear something soon.

Fife, My niece has a photography shoot to do in Baltimore, a week from Thursday. She is a little nervous going so my wife is going with her. They are going to stay overnight. Can you recommend a safe, reasonably motel/hotel for them to stay? I will find out where the shoot is. Thanks.

Prayers and Thoughts for all in need.

Mike,

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. Angel

Brent,

No interview yet, but I am hoping that the phone rings to set one up.  I really would like to work there.  On the other front,  hopefully there will be progress there also.Smile, Wink & Grin  The gaskets got here Saturday morning, so I've got the motivation to get that done asap.

After watching TM's "Building an O Gauge Layout  Beginner and Advanced" (which is excellent), I am considering tearing the layout apart and starting fresh.  I feel like I've worked myself into a corner with this one, and I can't really make it what I would like it to be.

Evening to All,

Spent the day watching the Daytona 500.  Great story with the 20 y.o. Trevor Bayne winning in the 21 Wood Brothers Ford.  Cooked up a pot of ham, cabbage, and potatoes for dinner. Pretty good if I say so myself.

Mike C - Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Whistles will blow on the layout tonight.

Going to enjoy having a day off tomorrow.  The last few weeks have been crazy at work.  Lousy weather,  schools closed, new students moving in. Can't wait until spring.  Last week's little warm up just made things a little crazier. Now they are predicting more snow and ice Monday into Tuesday.  Yuck.

I have one request the next time you run your trains.  Would you please blow the whistle once long and loud for my dad?  He passed away this afternoon a little past 1 PM.

I will do that.  I know just how you feel, having been through the same thing almost exactly five years ago.

Buckeye -- Happy Belated Birthday Greetings, may the Buckeye BB team give you a wonderful belated present in March Thumbs Up

Busy time of year for me as I hardly know what day of the week it is, never in my wildest dreams did I envision retirement having so many commitments and opportunities.  I'll be glad when the 2nd week of May arrives ..... the next time I retire..........

The boss has been gone for a week to be with her sister and comes home tomorrow night, sure miss her, it's just way to quiet around here so I'm glad I've been busy.  Snow is all gone and we've been enjoying record  breaking temps, what a pleasant difference compared to last year.

Have the Daytona 500 on and the weather looks fantastic.  We were there two years ago one week after the big race, someday I'd like to see the race in person.

Take care.

Afternoon all.  Sunny and warm but not as hot as yesterday.  Also not as windy.  Wind was horrible and especially down east where it is flat.  Bad woods fires everywhere.  Painted the nook in the bedroom [where the closet was].

Mike C., sorry for your loss.  Did not read your post last night when I posted.  Will sound the horns on the big NS diesels and the F3's.

Bob, got a surprise package.  Thanks a lot.  Outstanding.

Now to empty some boxes and go to the lake house and see if it is still there.  Longest it has been since I bought it.  Hope to spend a lot of time there next week.  May do the back small deck replacement project them.

Later.

Mike C - Condolences on the loss of your Dad. It has been a long time since I've done any running in the trainroom so today seems like a good day to fire them up and blow some whistles! Angel

JimT - hope the interview went well and the stalking of the Boysenberry Probe Chickie goes well as well. Cool

Buckeye - Happy Belated [birthday].

Check out SPF for an update on the curved stone arch bridge.

Don - didn't read your post about the laptop. Once option would be to have them install a new HD and put the existing one in an external enclosure - ensures 100% non-data loss.

Off to run the trains for a bit then off to FiL's to cut up some tulip tree branches that fell during the winter.
