Good evening all,

It was rainy in SE Indiana today.  Jim, my condolences on the loss of your friend.  I see where there are plenty of beacons lit for tonight and the Tradis is headed out with full power to the stabilizers.  I see where Illinois is going to be the site for a new TV series, "Land of the Lost.....Legislators"  :-)   I did a lot of executor type things today.  Still a little sore from the soccer.  I had the regular fare plus a donut today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Snow, then slush, then rain, then snow again today.  It is wet and sloppy, but a whole lot less accumulation than if it was all snow.

Jim - condolances on the loss of your friend.

Got my wife home from the hospital today.  Shuffling the house around to allow clearance for the walker she will be using for the next couple of weeks.  Got to wait around for the home care people to stop by tomorrow.  Sort of a traveling nursing service, I guess.

All for now.

Good Evening Gents,

Angel for Mike C., Jim Phish, Brutus and all our intentions

It was fire drill night here at Station 41 and watching Ben Hur (rower #41) and I'm on page 41, so it all works out for me.

Really busy at work, 11-12 hour days.  Have a cold coming on now also...

Won some Atlas track on Go Motor Bids, was a good price too!

Going to hit the bed and catch up on the earlier posts later....have a good night!

Evening all,

Sad day.  My best friend Bob died last night from complications from hip surgery.  He 85 I think. Bob is the man responsible for getting me hooked on American Flyers S gauge trains.  He was my friend, my mentor and my hero.  He was the father I never knew.  One of my proudest moments was after I was ordained, he said he was proud of me.  I really loved him.  He is truly a saint

Good night and may God bless.

Good afternoon/evening all,

We had Bible study last night and by the time I put the kids to bed it was late and I was bushed.  Needless to say I did not post.  It was a little cool today and we had some much needed rain; a couple of mild thunderstorms as well.  We don't have any big plans for tonight.  We will go out for dinner, but I need to get to bed early tonight.  I will be up very early tomorrow: I have to drive to Pine Bluff, AR, to swap out a piece of equipment.  It will be a 14-hour or so roundtrip drive.  I hope to get some train time in though before I go to bed.

Prayers for all those in need.

Good night,

Joe

Laz --  get the biggest Hot Wire Foam cutter you can find.  We burned through the first smaller unit fairly quickly, we then found a much bigger/hotter unit that is well worth the money, you won't be sorry.  I don't see the unit we bought in this listing but I'll keep looking and let you know.  They are a WONDERFUL invention!

Thanks JON for the heads up on the hot wire.  I'll keep that in mind.

Lunch Time,

Nice, Quiet Day, so far,

RI Jack, Have your grandaughters call your wife and have them tell her how much they like having the trains set up and if they can be up so they can play with them the next time they come over and when they call if Grandpa can blow the whistle for them. It may work.

Back to work,

John

Buckeye Riveter

Laz......Is it Friday yet?

Grandson and Daughter heading back home today.  Sad  It has been a great time playing trains on the floor in Mrs. Buckeye's beautiful living room. Big Smile

Buckeye.......I love the images your post conjures up in my head. Big Smile

The first is the image of the MILLION little fingerprints all over everything that the little ones can reach and touch, from the height of 3 feet down to the floor, requiring a massive cleaning counteroffensive once they leave (waxing the furniture, cleaning all of the glass and brass, walls, woodwork, etc.), crawling around on the floor looking under furniture with a flashlight for stuff the dog can chew up and consume.

The second is that of my "in serious jeopardy" Christmas layout which remains up and operating on the living room floor so the granddaughters and I can play every time they come over. Thumbs Up

And the third, the fact that the otherwise unused living room gets some practical use, away from the TV and the adult yakking/catching up elsewhere.  Beyond the trains, I have my one granddaughter's doll house, story books, and some of their toys in the LR.  My granddaughters spend more time in the LR (with me) in two weekend days than my wife spends in there in an entire year! Bang Head

So this morning the wifey declared in a serious tone that it is time to take down the trains.  My response:  "Why?  Why not leave perfection alone?"  Huh?Sad

I think I will make up some picket signs, organize a grandchild protest march, and set up a picket line with the little bumpkins.  "SAVE THE TRAINS !!!!!  FREE GRAMPY JACK !!!!!!  DOWN WITH 3-RAIL OPPRESSION !!!!!!!! Smile, Wink & Grin

Later, gang.

Jack

Cloudy and about 50 today.

My wife is recovering well.  She was up and walking around today - well enough that they are talking about releasing her from the hospital Thursday instead of Friday.

The Lionel web site lists the Texan Freight set as being shipped.  Mine ought to be showing up at the LHS pretty soon.  Looking forward to it.

All for now.

Getting ready for bed and have to pack for the overnight tomorrow.  Sounds like a nice service, Mike.  Bless you guys.  Prayers for your wife, Bill - first the back and now the knee.  Hope this recovery is quick and good results!  Nice chats with Charlie, SJ and RT.  I'll be off tomorrow night, but should be back on Friday night, so Mike can drive both nights and just come pick me up.  The key is under the You-Know-What as usual Thumbs Up

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

There was a "window over Terre Haute" today in SE Indiana as the sun shone briefly during the service.  We played "Back Home Again in Indiana" as we took dad home.  Thank you all for the support.  Tonight I got to scrimmage with "my" beloved soccer girls.  The best kind of tired in the world is soccer tired.  Did me a world of good to do a "normal" activitiy.  I had cereal and a donut for breakfast.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning all, York without the Chief!  What kind of deal is that.  Chief, don't you have an assistant or another council member who could represent you in the parade?  I think you and D. Baker would have some laughs together if you could make it.

Hudson385, John, The Courtyard by Marriott in Hunt Valley is a nice place.  I think she will enjoy it.  I stayed  there a couple of times on York trips.  Thought it was very nice.  I rode that light rail car from Hunt Valley to the train station in Baltimore for a side trip to New York City once on a York trip.  A lot easier than driving.

Brutus , nice going for your daughter on the spelling bee.

Pat, I think the absense of the big guys at York would be a big dissapointment if I were going.  Nobody came to the Cal Stewart meet on the West Coast either but they don't always come here.  MTH is pretty close to York.  Don't know why they couldn't set up a layout.  Sometimes differenf clubs set up layouts in the black hall in recent years.  One of them got shot down over TCA camera rules as I recall.  Hope they have that ironed out by now.

D.Baker, Don I will keep Mizzels in mind for the MTH repair.  I know you gave a good report on them in the past.  The place I talked to had a very good price and even with shipping would not be worse than the local shop.  I finally found the box for the thing.  Only took me three days.  My son finally found it.  One more reason to organize things in the garage.  Incidentally re York, I ran across a copy of a print I bought from railroad artist, Robert West called "Thirty miles from York".  It shows a steam powered Pennsylvania passenger train somewhere near highway 30 in Pennsylvania.  I might sell it if you know of anyone who would be interested.

later,

Ray

Lunchtime,

Nice Quiet Morning.

Fife, They are driving down. This came photo shoot came out of nowhere. Meghan graduated the Antonelli Institute a couple of years ago and is pursuing a career in photography. She has been working for a company that does school portraits and this is their slow time and they pick up in a month. She also works part time for my brother's wife who does photography, weddings, events and the such. Meghan is my wife's sister's daughter. I will get back to you on what they are planing on doing. But knowing them, SHOPPING. I will find out the location.

Brent, You are right, who would think that the grand opening of another Office Depot is a big deal. Meghan could use the experience and the money.

SJ, Have Granny bring home the Banilla.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Back to work,

John
